Never As They Seem

Some things are
never as they seem,
some call it magic,
others call it trickery,
but all of it is an illusion
to hoodwink our brain,
confuse our senses
into believing it is real.
We all use it at times
especially writers like me
in getting your readers
to believe what is not real.
I never do it intentionally
and most of the time it just happens.
I have forgotten how
many times over the years
that friends have asked me, is that me.
My answer is always no,
I only write fiction except
for an occasional dedication
and then there name
is always underneath the title.

Don't Ever Call Here Again

Why did I call?
You have been on my mind.
You are there most of the time,
With thoughts of wishes
I hope you are fine.

Why is it you?
Doesn't my call to you provide a clue?
Perhaps one day,
Out of the 'blue'...
You will call me too!
Instead of seeming to be annoyed.
And giving me attitude!

'Yeah...
But you've called me five times in ten minutes.
You have the wrong number!
How long has it been since you have spoken to your mother? '

Mom I know this is you!
I apologize for not calling in twenty years.
I have fallen on hard times...
And I need your assistance.

'That's unfortunate, young man.
The only son I had told me to mind my business.
He moved out over twenty five years ago!
And I know that could not be you...
Because the last time I called 'him'
He told me where to go!
I went!
And my life has been wonderful ever since!

I would give you his number...
But I have forgotten his name!
I have forgotten I have had any children at all.
And I bet 'if' you were in my shoes,
You would do the same.

When you find your mama...
Give her a hug for me, baby!
And as for you...
Don't ever call here again.'

I Know That Its Magic

Im amazed at things you, you do it all with ease
I smile while everything you do, drives me to my knees
cos I know that its magic, and I know that its magic
Yes, I know that its magic, in everything you try to do
Many times I see ahead, Ill have to make a stand
Maybe I can call on you, I know youd understand
cos I know that its magic, and I know that its magic
Yes, I know that its magic, in everything you try to do
cos I know that its magic, and I know that its magic
Yes, I know that its magic, in everything you try to do
cos I know that its magic, and I know that its magic
Yes, I know that its magic, and I know that its magic

Troubled Times

Troubled times again are here.
It seems they leave, then reappear.
But that's an illusion that's not real.
For some it's always what they feel.

The ones who have no say at all,
hungry, thirsty since they were small.
Their troubled times are nothing new,
not like the ones that we're used to.

We equate these times with the price of gas
and think to ourselves 'this too shall pass.'
We equate these times to climate change
and think to ourselves it's all so strange.

What's strange my friends is how we perceive
that troubled times are just what we receive.
Troubled times are never really gone.
They come to some on each new dawn.

Peek In, Sneak About

Theres times where I want something more
Someone more like me
Theres times when this dress rehearsal
Seems incomplete
But, you see the colors in me like no one else
And behind your dark glasses youre...
Youre something else
Chorus:
Youre really lovely
Underneath it all
You want to love me
Underneath it all
Im really lucky
Underneath it all
Youre really lovely
You know some real bad tricks
And you need some discipline
But, lately youve been trying real hard
And giving me your best
And, you give me the most gorgeous sleep
That Ive ever had
And when its really bad
I guess its not that bad
(repeat chorus)
So many moons that we have seen
Stumbling back next to me
Ive seen right through and underneath
And you make me better
Ive seen right through and underneath
And you make me better
Better... better...
Lady saw:
You are my real prince charmin
Like the heat from the fire
You were always burnin
And each time youre around
My body keeps stalin
For your touch
Your kisses and your sweet romancin
Theres an underside to you
That so many adore
Aside from your temper
Everything else secure
Youre good for me, baby
Oh that, Im sure
Over and over again
I want more
Gwen:
Youve used up all your coupons
And all youve got left is me
And somehow Im full of forgiveness
I guess its meant to be
(repeat chorus)
Youre really lovely
Underneath it all
You want to love me
Underneath it all
Im really lovely
Underneath it all
And youre really lovely

The real woman

Look for that real woman,
so beautiful as was made,
so shiny just like the stars of the night,
so original not like the picture woman.

I call them real for they;
know's their worth,
i call them real 'cos they respect,
even the last breath of their nostri.
I do call them real 'cos they are always proud of being a woman even in the den of men.

Not just a make-up-mask wearing woman,
but a woman of virtuous and dignity,
so strong and brilliant,
not even shieveried by the voice of the day nor the terror in the night.
Call them the real woman,
and they will keep being for real.

I'll Feel For You

If you're afraid to cry
Though you could use it once in awhile
Nothing will cloud your eyes
You've been through one of those times
When nothing's real or getting through
And it seems like you've forgotten how to feel
Call me
I'll Feel
For you
And some days you'll feel for me too

If you're afraid to smile
Though you could use it just to survive
There's nowhere you want to drive
And you're only staying alive
'Cause it's the thing to do
And it seems your bell's forgotten how to ring
Call me
I'll Feel
For you
And some days you'll feel for me too

If you're afraid to cry
Though you could use it just to survive
There's nowhere you want to drive
And you're only staying alive
'Cause it's the thing to do
And it seems your mouth's forgotten how to sing
Call me
Yeah
Call me
Call me
I'll Feel
For you
And some days you'll feel for me too

Sometimes and Most of the Times

Sometimes I disagree,
but most most of the times, I confess that I am

Sometimes I assume,
But most most of the times, I confident the things are

Sometimes I ignore,
but most most of the times, I notice the way one thinks

Sometimes I conceal,
but most most of the times, I reaveal as I am

Sometimes I act,
but most most of the times, I show what is the real in Me

Sometimes I lie,
but most most of the times, I stand as Honest

Sometimes I hate,
but most most of the times I like the way one likes Me

Faculty

Sometimes it seems so hard to work out the words,
and then again it seems not hard at all. Just write,
is as simple as that. There are times i can't seem to
work the words, other times the words come up
bubbling in my head with character and meaning.
At times i feel challenged by other writers, and i
begging to doubt my ability to work the words,
i simple read another writer and then i know i have
nothing to be worry about. I understand then that my
contest is with myself and not with other writers.
We all think about the same things, because once
in our life’s we all go through the same situations.
We all have the brain to create anything in our heads.
There’s nothing that i can't do if i focus and if i
don't focus; “you see” this word- focus is meaningful
in some ways, we need the focus, but in poetry we
need more the fantasy in our thoughts, the meaning
to our words, focusing can be important, but if your
head is not in the mood, there’s not going to be any
words bubbling up, even though you don’t need it so
much, because you can create a poem out of anything.
There’s one thing about writing, and reading poetry,
understanding the meaning behind the words.
Every word or phrase has a meaning behind, this is
where readers need to understand; for example-if i'm
drinking away my sorrows, it can mean, crying my
heart out, it can mean, i need to forget, it can mean,
a big hangover, it can mean, sleeping out in the porch,
it can mean, forgetting all you did last night; how many
things out of a phrase. Right know I would just like
to be in my cabin and sit right in front of the fire-place
with a bottle of wine and enjoy my pastoral life while
i write, amazing things.

How Many Times Have You Asked Yourself

Finally...
You reach home.
Believing you are sheltered.
And will get deserving rest!
Then suddenly the phone rings.
To leave you wondering,
If the caller is someone you should address.

And with unanswered questions,
You unleash from your mind...
What should be done next!

You want to know...
How many times,
Have you...
Asked yourself,
How many times...
You've asked yourself,
How could you find...
Yourself in the middle of somebody else's mess!

How many times,
Have you...
Asked yourself,
How many times...
You've asked yourself,
How could you find...
Yourself in the middle of somebody else's mess!
When you have issues you have not yet to address.

How many times,
Have you...
Asked yourself,
How many times...
You've asked yourself,
How could you find...
Yourself in the middle of somebody else's mess!

Relax?
You can't!
A tension is enhanced.
The phone keeps ringing to erase the chance.
And...

How many times,
Have you...
Asked yourself,
How many times...
You've asked yourself,
How could you find...
Yourself in the middle of somebody else's mess!
When you have issues you have not yet to address.
And that somebody wants to disturb your rest.

And with unanswered questions,
You unleash from your mind...
What should be done next!

You want to know...
How many times,
Have you...
Asked yourself,
How many times...
You've asked yourself,
How could you find...
Yourself in the middle of somebody else's mess!
When you have issues you have not yet to address.
And that somebody wants to disturb your rest.

How many times,
Have you asked yourself...
How many times,
You've asked yourself....
How many times have you done this and did nothing else?
To be there to please somebody else...
And not yourself!

Avoiding The Hated Enemy

I have no sediments for you.
My heart died all alone.
You became another forgotten stone that I kicked along the road.
Time to move on.
Like a drifter.
Never a constant or a steady place you can call home.
You blame me like everyone else.
Yeah, their is a reason I no longer talk to you.
Why should I come running?
When the happiness was already destroyed.
Your just not that stunning.
No not anymore.
It is something I try so hard to just avoid.
I already seen your innocence wither like a dying flower and you were just welcoming this decay.
You get so excited when everything not so okay.
You didn't love me you just loved seeing me in pain.
You call it semantics, I call it being too dramatic.
With a wish for an intentional fight.
Creating stories straight out of science fiction.
Here's your eviction written in my blood, my love.
Please leave now, vacate the premises.
I live with no regrets.
Diving into mirror so you will only see my reflection.
I can't hurt you it is no longer rejection.
It's a flat out a dead obsession.
Trust me I know better and learned my lesson.
I enjoyed some of our moments as tragic it finally became.

A question of a infection in the brain.
Was I insane?
A fool that became the man.
The man that went insane.
All for something that was never real.
An illusion just to feel.
Is that this has come to?
Is that the way has be?
Do I now envy this hated enemy?
Don't speak such blasphemy.
Just keep her away from me.

Mistaken Identity

There are many times I have been mistaken
for something I am not.
People mistake me as an ordained priest,
but in fact, I am not.
You could call me an actor
who just happens to live the part.
Admittingly I do most things
a real priest would in their lives do,
give comfort to the sick and dying
and other things do.
However please do not be mistaken
that is not acting, its just part of my personality,
something I have always done
even before I got the part.
Those who needed my words of comfort
always seemed to find me,
and I would never turn them away.
Don’t ask me why I am this way;
there is no answer I can give you.
I hate to see suffering
whether it be in friend or foe.
I made a promise to myself
a long, long time ago
that if I could make someone smile
each and every day,
then I would be smiling too.
There have been a very few times occasions
when that promise has been broken,
because sometimes I could not do it.
They were mainly when
great sadness caught up with me,
but most of the time you will find me
with a smile on my face
and mischievous twinkle in my eye.
That is because at heart
I am something of a clown
and a practical joker.
One thing I am not
and something I will never be
is what many people call me,
and that is an angel
as there are too many faults
that lie behind me.

Fictional

everything i write comes back to me
like they are real
in flesh and blood and friends write
how come
how is it that we are there in your poems
when they are supposedly
some works of a writer
imaginary and fictional

i have no answer

i write about love and broken hearts
and another friend
emails if i am alright
is there anything she can do to help?

but i say again

this is not me this has nothing to do with me
this is fiction

and she does not believe me
she says,
there you are trying to lie again
when blood runs surging like some pulse
of a dying man wanting to be alive
in your poetry,

i have no answer

the poems are works of fiction
it is not me it is about him and her and them

she shrugs off her shoulders
and reads again about the old church where
she once knelt and prayed

there was this girl who fell in love
and whose heart was
beautifully torn to pieces

she says she is her
the poem is true

and there was this boy
who was with her praying
who, when he became a man
broke her heart

she says it is you it is you
the poem is true,

the poems are true
who will ever believe me now?

i have always lied all along
count it from the first poem
when i said about

it and i said it was
it is

all about nothing and
it will always be about nothing

but fiction, nothing personal, but it can be also painful and lingering.....

A Poem Is Not The Answer To Everything

A POEM IS NOT THE ANSWER TO EVERYTHING

A poem is not the answer to everything-
Perhaps it is not the answer to anything
Though I wouldn't take it that far-
There have been times
When a poem was the answer-
Many times
A poem written by someone else
A poem I tried to write by myself-

Poems can be an answer
Perhaps not for most things
Perhaps not for all the major things
But for moods and pains and feeling
And desire for Beauty
Poems can be answers at time-
A poem is not really the answer to my problem of the moment now
But it is an answer of a kind anyway
Thank God for poems and for this poem also.

Its Real

Its real to me
When you say
I love you

Its real to me
When our hearts
Beat as one

Its real to me
When we entwine
Our passion feuiled
Bodys as one

Its real to me
all the little things you do
that make me smile

Its real to me
every time we
Talk about the little
things in life

Its real to me
how you want
To hold me close
Each and every night

Its real to me
when you say
The most romantic
things whipsered
softly in my ears

Its real
because
you make me
feel like a
teenager again

I want to spend
Eternity with you
I want to be apart
of your life

Thats the reality
of how I feel
Thats what we

Blowin In The Wind

How many roads must a man walk down
Before you call him a man?
Yes, n how many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?
Yes, n how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before theyre forever banned?
The answer, my friend, is blowin in the wind,
The answer is blowin in the wind.
How many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky?
Yes, n how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
Yes, n how many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin in the wind,
The answer is blowin in the wind.
How many years can a mountain exist
Before its washed to the sea?
Yes, n how many years can some people exist
Before theyre allowed to be free?
Yes, n how many times can a man turn his head,
Pretending he just doesnt see?
The answer, my friend, is blowin in the wind,
The answer is blowin in the wind.

Is There Such Thing As Love

how do i love when
i know there is no such thing?

do you believe
a rabbit came out of that hat
or that he really knew your card
or that those connected rings
do not have an opening
do you think
that what you see is reality
or is it an optical illusion
do you believe in magic
or do you know it does not exist

its right infront of me
the girl cut in two
the card out of thin air
the tiger...gone
its being proven right infront of me
and the only explanation?
real magic

but i do not believe in magic
i know it does not exist
i know there is no such thing
no matter the amount
of convincing

but there it is
happening right infront of me
im experiencing it first hand
my eyes are seeing its tricks
and my brain knows
no other justification
it can only be magic

i do not believe in it
so how is this happening
i am experiencing magic
nonexistant, real live magic

i no longer know what i believe in anymore

how is it that i can be inlove
when i know there is no such thing?

There For Me

You've been there for me, through thick and thin;
When my whole world felt like it was caving in.
We have shared many times: the good and the bad;
You have seen me happy; you have seen me sad.

You know me back to front and inside out;
You understand everything that I am about.
You know things I like, and the things I hate.
To me, you are a friend: my very best mate.

We've been good friends now, for many years.
You've seen my smiles; you've seen my tears.
To you, I've often revealed my true inner soul.
Together, we have often achieved many a goal.

When I am down, I can always call on you,
And, you know that you can call on me too.
Together, we have travelled to many places,
And, over the years, we have met many faces.

Talking things over, our problems seem to halve.
Our two lives, to date, have followed similar paths.
We have shared experiences, both old and new.
Luckily, our disagreements have been very few.

You are always prepared to lend me an ear.
You know my obsessions; you know my fears.
Friends, together, I hope we will always stay,
In years to come, when we're both old and grey.

The Consultation

‘How are you feeling in general? ’ he asked.

‘Pretty good most of the time then I get these occasional black periods when nothing makes sense and I fear the worst’ I replied.

‘Hmm, any suicidal thoughts? ’ he asked thoughtfully as if embarrassed to ask the question.

I thought for a moment.

‘Well, not really. No, not really’ was all I could say.

He made some notes at this point.

‘And those times of feeling good’ he asked ‘what are they like? ’

‘Like the sun is shining and I feel on top of the world’.

‘But there’s no real reason for that? ’ he asked ‘you just feel good and that’s it? ’

‘Yeah’ I replied.

‘What about your libido? ’ he asked as if enquiring what brand of beer I liked.

‘Funnily that’s pretty good’ I said smiling.

He frowned.

‘Is there any guilt that you feel? ’ he probed.

‘Do you feel guilty when you feel good or see others around you far less well off than you are? ’

‘I guess I do. I feel bad that I can’t feel that good all the time and also sad for those worse than me’.

‘But not real guilt? ’

‘No. Not really’.

‘So you feel bad at times but not guilty? ’

‘Guess not’

‘Do you ever feel bad about not feeling guilty? ’

He knew I was lost at this point and changed tack.

‘When did you last masturbate? ’ he threw in.

‘Can’t remember’ I said startled.

He made some notes.

‘So, you feel guilty about masturbation? ’ he continued.

‘No, not at all’.

‘But you don’t remember when you last did it? ’ he said with a manner of distaste and disbelief.

‘Not really’.

At this point I did not know where all this was going.

‘Do you go to church? ’ he asked.

‘No’

‘Why not? ’

‘Can’t see the point’

‘So why are you here? ’

At this point the confessional ended.

I had been diagnosed as not having enough guilt or grief or angst to be normal and no further help or counselling could be offered.

But, at long last, I felt truly guilty.

So, perhaps, I will find redemption one day.

Hard Times

(jimmy dean/lyrics by myles goodwyn)
Published by acuff rose music, inc. - bmi
Hard times, hard times, hard times, hard times
When the college professor has no class
And the quarterback would rather pass
And the pump jockey complains of gas
Its hard times, hard times
When the taxi driver he cant hack it
And the tennis player cant stand the racket
When allies refuse to pack it, its hard times
Hard times, hard times, real hard times
When the elevator cant find the floor
And the doorman he cant find the door
When they give to the rich what they take from the poor, its hard times
Seems your moneys gone before its spent
If youre not busted then youre badly bent
To give it away doesnt make any sense, its hard times
Hard times, hard times, real hard times, hard times
Now grandma forgets how to knit
And the wise man has lost his wit
And my tailor feels unfit, its hard times, hard times
When the fashion models lost her poise
And santa clause smashes all the toys
When boys could be girls, and girls could be boys, its hard times
Hard times, hard times, real hard times, hard times
When the clock on the walls got no time for jokes
And kreskin says its all a hoax
When the surgeon general chain smokes, its hard times
When the truck driver dont wanna truck
And the hockey player wont touch the puck
And the rock musician dont wanna fool around, its hard times
Hard times, hard times, real hard times
Harder times, hard times
I was talking to this lady the other day and she was telling me..........

Is in the believing
And the magic of believing
Is in itself quite magical as well

Well, I believe, without any delusion
That that… would be tragic as hell
