Evening Comes To Call
The velvet sash of darkness
stretches across the sky
far and wide
as evening comes to call.
The willow bends its head and weeps
under a gentle breeze
emerging from the sea
underneath the darkened sky.
The sun has gone to bed
to rest for the new day
as I cuddle in my lovers arms
and into dreams we stray
amidst a child’s prayer
asking for life to go on and persevere.
All this and more happens
as the evening comes to call.

Gentle Sigh
There is a gentle sigh
as a warm summer evening calls
and lovers slip away
to their hideaways.
The stars twinkle bright
playing peek-a-boo with the moon
and not a stirring word is heard,
except the gentle sigh
that inherits the breeze
that faintly rustles the leaves
on a warm summer evening
just before darkness calls.
The world sings a hushaby melody
to children tucked in their bed
waiting for the sandman to call
and for a few minutes,
everything is still
listening to the gentle sigh
when warm summer evenings call.

Day At Rest
The sun is setting slowly in the west,
to put another day at rest.
The moon now rises from the east,
as stillness drifts through our world,
and heads rest in sleep.
The quiet of the night, comes for us all,
as darkness comes to call.
There are some of us,
who welcome the quiet bliss,
the lovers embraced,
in each other’s arms,
ready to steal a kiss.
The writer who needs,
the evening tranquillity,
to forward on their thoughts,
with nothing to disturb.
So we put the day at rest,
until tomorrow comes to call.

Moon And Stars Above
A candle flickers
as the night breeze descends
casting shadows on the wall
of things we never saw.
They dance to the gentle rhythm
created by the breeze
as the clouds of evening
begin to gather in the sky.
Young lovers walk under
the moon and stars above
to kiss and cuddle in profusion
under the nearest tree.
Slowly night closes in
as the night chorus serenade
the young lovers
under the moon and stars above.
All too soon, they are parted
as night turns into day
and they have to wait again
until the night chorus signal
another close of day.

The Poem Of The Evening Is A Quiet Poem
THE POEM OF THE EVENING IS A QUIET POEM
The poem of the evening is a quiet poem
It comes in gentleness with tired eyes
It does not know how long it will last
It believes a fresh breeze
And a simple song
Are all its needs
To feel happiness.
The poem of the evening this evening
Believes in life
Believes in Goodness of God
Believes it will somehow be alright.
The poem of the evening this evening
May be a foolish one
But it is a quietly happy one.
We need such poems sometimes
For life is hard in the long working days
And in the times of difficult idleness
When no dreams come.
Quiet and quiet
Soft as sleep
The poem of the evening this evening
Is a gentle one.

Early Works - Willow, Willow
Willow, willow
soft swinging low head
sadness brings night tears
to your breast.
Singing of a night wing
circles in the sky
down in the darkness
a life begins to die.
Willow, willow
no answer to give
sunlight brings bright
eyes exploring where you live.
Songs of happy voices
whisper to the breeze
but no one see the tragedy
that lies beneath the leaves.
Willow, willow
watching the world go by
evening breathes a stillness
near the close of the day.
Cries of distant shadows
and shriek of diving claws
hissing into silence
that will soon engulf them all.

The End of the Day
The scent of jasmine fills the air,
within my garden wall
while I sit in silence
awaiting the evening to call.
The sounds of the evening are heard,
as that nocturnal wake up call
as long shadowy fingers
creep from the garden wall.
The sun begins to rest its head
as in the west it begins to fall
the sleepy sunset lights up the sky an orange glow
when the end of the day comes to call.

Twilight 2
As the cool air comes at twilight
the songs of evening appear.
Everywhere you hear the night calls
that echo in the darkness.
The calls that inspire lovers
under the pale moonlight
as hand in hand they walk
through their own paradise.
In the darkness of the night
the creatures sing their chorus
for lovers that might call
that begins at twilight, ending when dawn calls.

Mr Sandman Lullaby
Go to sleep my child
and when you close your eyes,
Mr Sandman will call
while your sleepy head
heads for the field of your dreams
under a never-ending sun.
There you will play
the whole night through.
Go to sleep my child
and when you close your eyes,
Mr Sandman will call.
Once again, you will chase butterflies
across the field of your dreams,
laugh and sing
and no crying among your tears.
Just go to sleep my child
and when you close your eyes,
Mr Sandman will call.
A new day awaits you
on the other side of your dreams
as bight and sunny
as you want it to be.
Now hushaby, hushaby
and close those sleepy eyes.

Summer Is Here
I hear the sounds of children at play,
as the sun has turned
the black clouds of rain away.
Summer is here
and laughter fills the air,
flowers fill the gardens
with colour everywhere.
After a hard days work
you feel free,
some will sit the evening out
eyes glued to the TV.
Not for me the little box,
rather an evening stroll.
Then sit to rest
my weary bones somewhere,
letting the cool evening breeze
dance with my hair.
As I sit quietly
absorbing all around.
Watching the sun
sink slowly in the west.
Breathing in the cool evening air,
as night begins to call.

The Evening Breeze
Often, I lie solus,
On white sand-banks
Of the large pond
In my ancestral land,
When the evening breeze
Gently touches the divinity,
Hidden somewhere in mortal body:
I feel I cannot normally feel.
Oh! I wish the evening breeze,
Too heavenly and wondrous,
Brought out my grandmother
Sleeping just under,
With whom I used to enjoy the breeze,
On these sands white,
In green days, later became defoliate!
Indeed, it can if it willed.
The evening breeze brings
Smell of soap suds,
Which forms on mind-board
The damsel in the nude;
Soon, the breeze brings
Holiest odour
Of frankincense and incense smoulder:
So in the breeze I sin and purge.
Often, I lay tired on sands;
All sweat drops dried in the evening breeze;
All my spirit revived;
And fresh morrow waited.
Evening chants of diverse creeds:
All in breeze united.
Seraphic breeze pats on every head,
Still nobody sees it.

My Poem Came To Me In The Evening
MY POEM CAME TO ME IN THE EVENING/ AFTER THE RAIN AND EVENING PRAYER
My poem came to me in the evening
After the rain and evening prayer
When the sky opened up
For a moon and a star
And the winds diminished
And walking became a pure pleasure
And looking up a simple calm
Joy-
God giving me
Another gift
In a life in which there already have been so so many.

Evening Shadows
When evening shadows fall
Minutes seem so long
When evening shadows fall
I'm waiting for the dawn
I miss you every night
Just about this time
You're always on my mind
When evening shadows fall
When evening shadows fall
End up staring at the wall
Even when you're gone
The feeling's all so strong
Want you to come on back
Back where you belong
So I can sing my song
When evening shadows fall
Well I'm living in a dream
And it s getting so late
And you call my name
And I'm wide awake
It might as well be night
Hope that you're alright
Well I just can't wait
To get you in my sight
I'm here every day
Just about this time
From dusk till dawn
When evening shadows fall
Well I'm living in a dream
And it's getting so late
And you call my name
Then I'm wide awake
It might as well be night
Hope that you're alright
Well I just can't wait
To get you in my sight
You ask me if I miss you
I say not at all
Only every night
'Bout this time
When evening shadows fall
Every night about this time
When evening shadows fail
You're always on my mind
When evening shadows fall

The Poem Of The Evening
THE POEM OF THE EVENING
The poem of the evening
Is a small poem
It waits for its own words
And hears itself come slowly and surely
It knows by the time the darkness is here
It will already be real.
The poem of the evening
Is an easy and small poem
It may not mean much
But it comes so smoothly
It seems to laugh at the heat of the day
And love itself for being here.
The poem of the evening
After the long day
Is a happy poem
And it looks forward to praying the evening prayer forever.

The pleasure reminds him of a summer evening in a real city, maybe Copenhagen, where he once stayed for a couple of days. Over there the night does not suddenly pounce, it feels its way gently. There the veil of twilight stretches for three or four hours, as though the evening aspires to reach out and touch the dawn.

Heaven Sent
Your eyes are like deep wells of desire
Once in your arms Im on fire
You were sent girl so perfectly true
Changing my life
Now Im a survivor
Heaven sent
Thats what I call you
Heaven sent
Thats what I call you
Late at night when the evening fire has died
Theres a look in your eye
Seductive images fly
Heaven sent
Thats what I call you
Heaven sent
Thats what I call you
One day youll see what angels can see
Dressed in black if she comes back
I think Ill lose my mind
Tuesday she works
In the library uptown
Some useful knowledge
Can always be found
Dont burn the library
Till youve read all the books
Sometimes in life
You get a second look
Heaven sent
Thats what I call you
Heaven sent
Thats what I call you
Heaven sent
Thats what I call you
Heaven sent
Thats what I call you
Heaven sent
Heaven sent
Heaven sent
Heaven sent
Heaven sent

Early Works-Catacombs of Natural Beauty
The skies gentler shade than the seas
is hidden momentarily in the breeze.
The clouds that are colourfully crystallised
by the warm beckoning sun in our eyes.
The little bird that swoops and dives
flies the freeways of the skies.
While deep in the evergreen below,
the breeze bends flowers to and fro.
As gentle waters of the stream
reflects the sun in diamond shaped gleams.
As beneath the rippling waters surface
algae and underwater weed is spread out like a velvet green sash.

Dream Variations
To fling my arms wide
In some place of the sun,
To whirl and to dance
Till the white day is done.
Then rest at cool evening
Beneath a tall tree
While night comes on gently,
Dark like me-
That is my dream!
To fling my arms wide
In the face of the sun,
Dance! Whirl! Whirl!
Till the quick day is done.
Rest at pale evening...
A tall, slim tree...
Night coming tenderly
Black like me.

Dream Lover
The flowers outside my window
whose perfume scents the air
with a sweet sensation
as I lay on my bed.
They waft through the window
by a cool summer breeze
as I lay is soft perfusion
while around my light
moths begin to play.
My eyes are heavy
as sweet dreams call,
swirling around my head
while with my dream lover
my heart begins to fall.
The stars embedded in the night sky
like thousands of jewels
resting gently on black velvet.
I begin the dance with my dream lover
while moonbeams play around at our feet
as slowly in the darkness
I am captured by sleep.

Nighttime
When the evening shadows fall
I know the nighttime's come to call.
It does what nighttime does the best.
It gives us time to be at rest.
It banishes all the daytime scenes.
It allows us to feel what nighttime means.
It means it's time for quiet thought,
peace of mind which can't be bought.
It's time to let yourself unwind.
It's time to leave all cares behind.
It's time to rest your weary head.
It's time to creep into your bed.
It's time for starlight and moonbeams.
It's time for silence and sweet dreams.
But for some the nighttime is their day.
They work the nighttime to earn their pay.
They start their night with the rising sun.
They go to sleep when the night is done.
So when the evening shadows fall
they are not in tune with it at all.

Music Of The Evening Chorus
Across the sky at dusk,
the clouds of night descend.
The sun has set itself to sleep
as the moon raises its head.
Lovers walk the quiet lanes
arm in arm
as the music of the evening chorus
fills the cooling air.
The lovers stop occasionally
to kiss and cuddle a while.
As the music of the night
rings in their ears.
