Beyond The Daylight Reaches

Beyond the daylight reaches,
near the back roads of the mind.
Love lies waiting there
for some lucky person,
to pluck it from the air.
Memories of old loves
linger somewhere back there,
waiting to be rekindled,
like a dying candle flame.

Beyond the daylight reaches,
near the back roads of the mind.
The world’s great treasure
waits for someone to find.
The treasure of love,
one that will last forever.
The dream without ending,
all seek, but very few
ever get there to find.

A few will take the trouble,
and keep the desire warm
at the upper most of the mind.
Travelling down this dangerous road
that stretched out beyond the daylight reaches,
near the backs roads of the mind.
Seeking the ultimate prize,
they could ever hope to find.

Back Roads Of My Mind

Your memories fill each waking hour
You face fills each and every thought
Of the times we had together
That surface from the back roads of my mind

I remember the fields of bluebells
Where we used to walk hand in hand
The trees we used to lean upon
While we rested for a while

All these things and more linger for eternity
And you will find them
Written with a special love
On the back road of my mind

They were written with love’s pen
And if you look close into my eyes
You will see them there all the time
Written on the backs roads of my mind

Your memories are anchored there
Never straying away
Resting with love forever
On the back roads of my mind

Cobwebs

I am dusting off the cobwebs
from the back roads of my mind
hoping that I will find
some old loves I left behind.
Hoping there is still a flicker
in some of those old flames of mine
that I may rekindle an old love again.
As we, get older and we sometimes regret
of not stoking some fires,
a little more often than others
through the years that have passed.
If we had, I sometimes wonder
what would our life be
or did destiny have in mind
it was always you and me.
The dreams are still there
and have never changed.
They just need dusting off
every now and then.
They still flicker
and need stoking to a flame.
In doing so I wonder if,
they will come alive again.
Therefore, I am dusting off the cobwebs
from the back roads of my mind.

1 John 2: 8

At the back of her mind...was a man.
Somewhere in the roads she walked before.
Those dark roads of her life-
she paused and turned back.
There was no one there...
darkness covered the path.
Is his shadows hiding over the face of the night?
Or perhaps he was gone as was the light;
I wonder...how she must have felt
that the man she lived for
is now a memory she doesn't want to remember.
Had she wept? I know not.
Perhaps... or perhaps not.
For when I saw her stepping out of darkness,
I saw the smile in her eyes.
I'm certain it was joy that was written on her face
thinking she will never walk those roads again.
I looked away from her brown eyes and said to myself:
I'll never walk those roads again...
The darkness is past, the true light now shineth
and the past is gone.
At the back of my mind there is this MAN -
and I know Him.
I'll walk the roads He walked
for I know in them I'll find my way back home.

Roads We Travel

There are many roads we travel
And probably most we leave behind
We continue to walk ahead of us
New fresh roads we want to find

And sometimes we wonder
If we took the best road we could
If we could erase them and start over
We often think perhaps we would

Some roads we travel often though
Off and on throughout the years
They get worn and sad and weary
And we shed so many tears

But we try to put them behind us
And trudge bravely on ahead
Trying very heard to not look back
But find great new roads instead

So no matter where we’ve been
As our lives we continue to unravel
We all just try to do our best
With the many roads we travel!

My Peace Of Mind

I sail upon the mighty waves
to ports of shelter from a storm
where strange dialect yells
in my quest to find myself.
Seasoned by the turnings seasons
I search for that peace
we all seek to find.
Here on the rolling waves
I find my peace of mind
with stars and sun to guide me
as I circumnavigate my home
travelling great distances
seeing the seven wonders
as my travels take me
through uncharted waters deep.
My mind is uncluttered
by the wrath of greed
in this daylight dusk
of never ending night.

Gentle On My Mnd

It's knowin' that your door is always open
And you path is free to walk
That makes me tend to keep my sleeping bag rolled up
And stashed behind your couch
It's knowin' I'm not shackled
By forgotten words and bonds
And the heat stains that have dried up on some lovin'
That keeps you in the back roads
By the rivers of my memory
It keeps you ever gentle on my mind
It's not clinging to the rocks and ivy
Planted on their columns mellowed by me
Or something that somebody said
Because they thought we'd fit together walking
It's just knowing that the world will not be cursin'
Or forgiving when I walk along some railroad track and find
That you're moving on the back roads
By the rivers of my memory and for hours
You're just gentle on my mind
Though the wheat fields and the clothes lines
And the junk yards and the highways come between us
And some other woman's cryin' to her mother
'Cause she turned and I was gone
I still might run in silence
Till' the join might stain my face
And the summer sun might burn me 'till I'm blind
But not to where I cannot see you
Walking in the back roads
By the rivers flowing gently on my mind
I dip my cup of soup from a gurgling,
cracking cauldron in some train yard
I'm barely runnin' cold how
Have a dirty hat pulled low across my face
Who cupped hands around the tin cans
I pretend to hold you to my breast and find
That you're wavin' from the back roads

Ever smiling never changes on my mind

Roads That We Take

The roads that we take
are never easy
there are always obstacles
on the way.
No matter what
the obstacle may be
if you want to
you can make it through.
No problem is insurmountable
no matter what others may say
there is always a spirit to guide you
every step of the way.

The roads that we take
are never easy
in spots you will find
happiness come your way.
You have to take it as you find it
before moving on your way.
Near the end,
you can look back at the memories
and rejoice with them each day.
Some will be filled
with love and sorrow
as all roads have them on their way.

Prayin For Daylight

(steve bogard/rick giles)
Ive got the lights turned up
The door is locked, the bedroom tvs on
Doing the only thing that gets me through the night
Since youve been gone
Prayin for daylight, waiting for that morning sun
So I can act like my whole life aint going wrong
Baby come back to me, I swear Ill make it right
Dont make me spend another lonely night
Prayin for daylight
(prayin for daylight)
I made a bad miscalculation
Betting you would never leave
cause if youre getting on with your new life.
Then where does that leave me
Prayin for daylight, waiting for that morning sun
So I can act like my whole life aint going wrong
Baby come back to me, I swear Ill make it right
Dont make me spend another lonely night
Prayin for daylight
(prayin for daylight)
Prayin for daylight
(prayin for daylight)
Prayin for daylight
Hoping that I didnt wait too long
(I didnt wait too long)
That this is just the dark before the dawn
Deep in my heart I know
That you love me as much as I love you
And that you must be lying somewhere
Looking up to heaven too
Prayin for daylight, waiting for that morning sun
So I can act like my whole life aint going wrong
Baby come back to me, I swear Ill make it right
Dont make me spend another lonely night
Prayin for daylight
(prayin for daylight)
Prayin for daylight, waiting for that morning sun
So I can act like my whole life aint going wrong
Baby come back to me, I swear Ill make it right
Dont make me spend another lonely night
Prayin for daylight
(prayin for daylight)
Prayin for daylight
I dont want to spend another lonely night
I dont want to spend another lonely night
(prayin for daylight)
Prayin for daylight
I dont want to spend another lonely night
Oooo, oooo, oooo, oooo, oooo
Prayin for daylight

Loose Change

I built a house of cards
Built a house of rain
Built a house of love
Its hard to build again
Built a road to reason
Built a road to fate
Built a road to the promised land
Right up to the gate
Loose change in my pocket
Future in my hand
Too many distractions
For me to understand
Too many distractions
Got to get back home
Get into something solid
Get out of the zone
Some roads bring renewal
Some roads hide and wait
Some roads promise everything
And steal your fuel away
Loose change in my pocket
Future in my hand
Too many distractions
For me to understand
Some roads I been flyin
Some roads I crashed
Some roads I been sleepin on
Some roads I got back
Some roads I been runnin
Some roads I was stopped
Some roads I been walkin down
Some roads I was lost

Where Are You Now

Key:-a - anita r - ray
A: I watch the door but no one comes through
I watch the sun painting pictures of you
Nothing I do can kill the chill inside
Siliver days, wishes come true
Simple thoughts, enough love for two
Sharing a dream, sharing the warmth we had
Wheres the flame that kept us in motion
Did it burn out as well
Wheres the flame, did you take it with you
A: where are you now
Do you think of us
Do you think that it was worth it
Where are you now
Are you alone
Do you know that Ive be waiting
Ive been waiting when the sun goes down
A: all the roads, you taking alot
Stretch of sea a thousands times
But none of them roads bring you to my door
Wheres the flame that kept us in motion
Did it burn out as well
Wheres the flame, could you take it with you
A: where are you now
Do you think of us
Do you think that it was worth it
Where are you now
Are you alone
Should I hope that you are waiting
Where are you now
Do you think of us
Do you think that it was worth it
Where are you now
Are you alone
Can you see that Ive been waiting
Ive been waiting while the sun goes down
R: if you listen
You will hear
Close your eyes
Let light is near
A: yeah....
A: wheres the flame that kept you in motion
Did it burn out as well
Wheres the flame could you take it with you
A: where are you now
Do you think of us
Do you think that it was worth it
Where are you now
Will I ever know
Its somewhere I can find you
Somewhere the sun always shines

Daylight Katy

She walks be the sea where the seaworld is
And she waits for the man to come
She lives in town with her high-heeled friends
And she knows its a long way down
But she doesnt have to get up in the morning
With her hair so soft and long
Daylight katy come on
Daylight katy come on
If you cant follow me down
Daylight katy go home
Daylight katy come on
Daylight katy come on
If you cant follow me down
Daylight katy go home
She walks to the sea where the seaweed is
Where the rust and the dirt runs deep
She lives nine lives in her midnight world
While her old mans fast asleep
And she doesnt have to get up in the mornin
With her hair so soft and long
Daylight katy come on
Daylight katy come on
If you cant follow me down
Daylight katy go home
Daylight katy come on
Daylight katy come on
If you cant follow me down
Daylight katy go home
She lives by the sea when the summer wind comes
And the sea dont mind at all
She talks to the sea when the sea runs wild
And the waves run steep and tall
And she doesnt have to get up in the mornin
With her hair so soft and long
Daylight katy come on
Daylight katy come on
If you cant follow me down
Daylight katy go home
Daylight katy come on

Trouble In Mind

(you know right now Ive got trouble in mind)
Shes a special girl who wants to treat me right
I can tell by the way that she walks
A woman of the world who likes the city lights
I can tell by the way that she talks
I cant remember where it happened all too fast
I dont know what you really want me to say
But when she walked on by there was no turning back
I knew shed steal my emotions away
Oh all this talk about whats wrong or right
We gotta get to the bottom of this tonight
Chorus:
And if I ever get back on my feet again
I wont give you up oh-no
And we can always look back on what should have been
But honey right now Ive got trouble in mind (little trouble)
The word will get around thats just the way it is
But dont believe everything that you hear
Cos when it all comes down to a love like this
All the rumors will soon disappear
Oh love can travel on a broken line
But baby everybody has to take a chance sometime
And if I ever get back on my feet again
I wont give you up oh-no
And we can always look back on what should have been
But honey right now Ive got some, some trouble in mind
Somehow theres something that Im missin
I cant let you know oh-no
(right now) I gotta try and make you listen
Ill be back in time
Waiting at the end of the line
(guitar solo)
Love can travel on a broken line
Everybody has to take a chance sometime
And if I ever get back on my feet again
I wont give you up oh-no
Cos we can always look back on what should have been
Cos you know honey right now Ive got trouble in mind
And if I ever get back on my feet again
I wont give you up oh-no
And we can always look back on what should have been
But baby right now Ive got trouble in mind
Nothin but trouble
(you know right now Ive got trouble in mind)
(you know right now Ive got trouble in mind)
Lock me up and throw away the key
(you know right now Ive got trouble in mind)
Ive got it bad
(you know right now Ive got trouble in mind)...

Will He Be Waiting

I can still see that lonesome road stretched out before me
The road that left me out of his love
I can still feel the tears he cried on my shoulder the day that I told him goodbye
I never should have left him never should have gone oh what a crazy fool I've been
Will he be waiting for me he will be won't he and will he take me back again
Shadows from the streets shade the path that I am walking
As I make my way back up that winding road again
And the smell of my tomorrow fills the air with sweet perfume
My heart beats faster as I'm near my journey're end
I wonder if he's missed me I wonder if he wants me I wonder does he love me still
Will he be waiting for me he will be won't he oh how I hope he will
He will be waiting for me he will be won't he
How could it be his love for me has faded and has died
He will be waiting for me he will be won't he
Oh will I find that this time I'll be the one to cry
Will he be waiting for me

Stone Cold Sober

If you really knew how many times Ive tried to help you
Make your mind up in the matters of the heart, youd not be bothered
By the miscues or the bad trips that seem to come and plague us
Having thought it over, I sure would like to talk to you again
I was stone cold sober, it was daylight in october
When you reached across the table put your hand upon my shoulder
And my lips were warm with kissing while we found the missing pieces
To all the empty spaces I sure would like to talk that way again
We have soared above the clouds, weve heard the angels breathing
While we made love in the morning, there was never talk of leaving
We would lie that way for hours with our arms around each other
It was all so easy, I sure would like to talk to you again
cause Im stone cold sober, the daylight has crossed over
In the night, a touch of sadness
We had it coming, had it going way back then
I was stone cold sober when I woke the morning after
Having shattered the illusions of the object of my passions
With a will made out of iron and a mind that is her own
Having thought it over, I sure would like to talk to her again
We had it coming, had it going way back then
I hope that we can see each other often
That our points of view will blend into each other,
Like the sea and the horizon
And the sun will shine upon us as we live our lives forever
Having thought it over, I sure would like to talk to you again

Please Come Back To Me

Sittin in the car
One spring break afternoon
Knowin u couldn't be far
And that I'd see you soon

Away from you
Is where I hate to be
But get a clue
And please come back to me

Please come back to me
I miss your crazy mind
I want you to be
Here so you'll find
You'll eventually see
So please come back to me

My life isn't the same
Without you here
I'd rather have you over all the fame
To the ground just dropped my tear

Away from you
Is where I hate to be
If you love me too
Then please come back to me

Please come back to me
I miss your crazy mind
I want you to be
Here so you'll find
You'll eventually see
So please come back to me

By now it's almost dark
As far as I can see
Now walkin alone in a park
So please come back to me

Please come back
Please come back
Please come back
I want you here with me
Please come back
Please come back
Please come back
Oh how lonely it can be
Please come back
Please come back
Please come back
Back here with me
Please come back
Please come back
Please come back
Come back and you'll see
So please come back to
Please come back to
Please come back to
Please come back to me
Please come back to
Please come back to
Please come back to
Please come back to me

Crossroads

Ive got nothing on my mind: nothing to remember,
Nothing to forget. and Ive got nothing to regret,
But Im all tied up on the inside,
No one knows quite what Ive got;
And I know that on the outside
What I used to be, Im not anymore.
You know Ive heard about people like me,
But I never made the connection.
They walk one road to set them free
And find theyve gone the wrong direction.
But theres no need for turning back
'cause all roads lead to where I stand.
And I believe Ill walk them all
No matter what I may have planned.
Can you remember who I was? can you still feel it?
Can you find my pain? can you heal it?
Then lay your hands upon me now
And cast this darkness from my soul.
You alone can light my way.
You alone can make me whole once again.
Weve walked both sides of every street
Through all kinds of windy weather.
But that was never our defeat
As long as we could walk together.
So theres no need for turning back
'cause all roads lead to where we stand.
And I believe well walk them all
No matter what we may have planned.

Take Me Home

Take that look of worry
Im an ordinary man
They dont tell me nothing
So I find out what I can
Theres a fire thats been burning
Right outside my door
I cant see but I feel it
And it helps to keep me warm
So i, I dont mind
No i, I dont mind
Seems so long Ive been waiting
Still dont know what for
Theres no point escaping
I dont worry anymore
I cant come out to find you
I dont like to go outside
They cant turn off my feelings
Like theyre turning off a light
But i, I dont mind
No i, I dont mind
Oh i, I dont mind
No i, I dont mind
So take, take me home
Cos I dont remember
Take, take me home
Cos I dont remember
Take, take me home
Cos I dont remember
Take, take me home, oh lord
Cos Ive been a prisoner all my life
And I can say to you
Take that look of worry, mines an ordinary life
Working when its daylight
And sleeping when its night
Ive got no far horizons
I dont wish upon a star
They dont think that I listen
Oh but I know who they are
And i, I dont mind
No i, I dont mind
Oh i, I dont mind
No i, I dont mind
So take, take me home
Cos I dont remember
Take, take me home
Cos I dont remember
Take, take me home
Cos I dont remember
Take, take me home, oh lord
Well Ive been a prisoner all my life
And I can say to you
But I dont remember
Take, take me home...

On Her Mind

She's wearing the tee-shirt
of a band I really like
maybe that's coincidence
maybe that's alright

I keep thinking about the way
she said "I'll see you soon"
was it more than words?

I'm just tryin' to find
what's on her mind?

I don't know when I'll see her
but I'm sure that I will
its just another matter of time
some more time to kill

I can imagine so many things
her and I sometime in the spring
...something's happening

I'm just tryin' to find
what's on her mind?

[CHORUS:]

(I want peace but I don't make it
I want love but I don't give it
i want hope but I can't find it
and I want her to heal me)

she's wearing the tee-shirt
of my favorite band
I should've told her
that I was a fan

people say I should just leave it be
leave it up to destiny
but that ain't for me

I'm just trying to find
what's on her mind?

[CHORUS and outros]

Holding Her

Another sleepless night in this sleepy town,
I want to turn this world upside down.
Show you the things I know you want,
While never being one to flaunt.
You never seem to leave my mind,
It just feels like i'm left behind.
For yet so close, but far away,
Tonight your mine, for just a day.
For when daylight shines it's morning glow,
You must go back to him I know.
But I will be here waiting,
Contemplating.
For when he leaves you like he will,
I will find you lying still.
Pick you up and hold you tight,
Never letting go, not tonight.
