A Different Tune
In the silence of the night
when whispers do not stir
you can see their shadows
slip quietly across the wall.
A cold shiver runs down your back
because you know no one is there.
They dance in the moonbeams
cascading through the curtains gap
leaving behind a fragrant perfume,
the only evidence they were there.
Two fleeting shadows
of lovers long gone away
coming back briefly
to celebrate some anniversary.
In your sleep you can see them,
open your eyes and they are gone.
Were they real or imaginary?
Best we not judge and let them be
to come back and dance another day
to a different tune.

Appreciative Audience.
Soft moonlight filters through the trees
Which seem to dance to melodies
Created by the gentle breeze.
The shadows on the ground dance too
Or to my eyes they appear to
Disintegrate then form anew.
Sometimes the clouds blot out the light
The shadows gain a brief respite.
Rejoin the darkness of the night.
But clouds move on and when they do
And once again moonlight shows through.
The trees will dance, the shadows too.
The sun will rise to start the day.
The dancing shadows hide away
But where they hide no man can say.
The sun completes his daily quest.
Journeying from east to west.
Then sinks below the sea to rest.
The moon will rise she rules the night
Then once again to my delight
She bathes the trees in silver light.
The melodies played by the breeze
Will re awake the sleeping trees.

Beneath the trees reluctantly

Hold still now for the moving information close to you.
You could never force it in your life: this decision to break it.
Without hope, you cannot start the day.
Its coming clear Ive noticed;
Its a different face youre showing.
Its another welcome back.
I dont imagine it could be this way so jealous!
Only you can tell it; tell me why.
Only you call tell it.
Only you can say.
In between this moving out to save your soul it came away,
And took it out;
Oh why?
Fire burning wild, burning in the night, chasing in the wind;
Shadows always dance in the rain, ringing into the fire.
Doesnt matter who, who can see in the smile.
Hope in the rain, open the flame, coming back in the night.
I can see the rhythm of the rain; I can see it shout back under:

What is it that stands between us?
Back again to see the day,
To see through skies another way.
Through pastel shades we fade away
Blissful in the night.
What it is I’ve done
Where did I go wrong?
Maybe there’s nothing more to this,

Facing The Sun, Late Afternoon
driving back home
at the white bridge
the light of the sun
that later afternoon
blinds me, like
what i feel today
i close my eyes
see shadows
let them all inside
my heart,
i open my eyes
half asleep
letting all the shadows
simmer like
i am a dry earth
receiving a little rain,
thoughts run like water
boredom is the dryness
the ennui
fleeting memories
haunt like thoughts

with swords and scales.

At The End Of The Day
At the end of the day
when the hues of night
are seen by lovers
as they stroll to their favourite rendezvous,
where the moonbeams dance
across the waters of a lazy river
and fireflies court in twos.
The chorus of the crickets
fills the stilled night air
as lovers gather in courting
here, there and everywhere.
The night is filled with whispers
of words not to be overheard
on a staggered summer evening
in a time not far away.

Why do you look at me so strangely?
What’s wrong with wanting to dance?
I’m doing my best please
Give me a chance
Give me one day back to prove to you
How I used to arc through the air,
My lithe form a whirling colour
My legs whipping up a storm
While I cartwheel, twist and pirouette
In time, God, always in time,
Across the stadium.
I am used to audiences, all eyes on me
Yes me, me, I am here you know,
Why won’t you let me dance?
The ward is so noisy, I long to hear music,
But it’s cries, of pain and anguish that fill my ears.

You’ll be out before you know it.
I know it hurts now, but you’ll be
