From Paris To Brussels (11 P.M. 15 October To Half-Past 1 P.M. 16) Proem At The Paris Station
In France (to baffle thieves and murderers)
A journey takes two days of passport work
At least. The plan's sometimes a tedious one,
But bears its fruit. Because, the other day,
In passing by the Morgue, we saw a man
(The thing is common, and we never should
Have known of it, only we passed that way)
Who had been stabbed and tumbled in the Seine,
Where he had stayed some days. The face was black,
And, like a negro's, swollen; all the flesh
Had furred, and broken into a green mould.
Now, very likely, he who did the job
Was standing among those who stood with us,
To look upon the corpse. You fancy him—
Smoking an early pipe, and watching, as
An artist, the effect of his last work.
This always if it had not struck him that
'Twere best to leave while yet the body took
Its crust of rot beneath the Seine. It may:
But, if it did not, he can now remain
Without much fear. Only, if he should want
To travel, and have not his passport yet,
(Deep dogs these French police!) he may be caught.
Therefore you see (lest, being murderers,
We should not have the sense to go before
The thing were known, or to stay afterwards)
There is good reason why—having resolved
To start for Belgium—we were kept three days
To learn about the passports first, then do
As we had learned. This notwithstanding, in
The fullness of the time 'tis come to pass.

The Mirabeau bridge
Under the Mirabeau bridge flows the Seine
And all our loves
Why does it make so plain
That any joy must always follow pain
Let the night come the hour sound clear
The days all pass I’m still here
Our hands intertwined let’s stay face to face
While far below
The bridge of our arms strays
The languid wave of each endless gaze
Let the night come the hour sound clear
The days all pass I’m still here
Our love drifts away like these waters flow
Love drifts away
And our lives are so slow
With Hope more violent than we could know
Let the night come the hour sound clear
The days all pass I’m still here.
The days and weeks pass in a ceaseless train
But no past time
Or past love comes again
Under the Mirabeau bridge flows the Seine
Let the night come the hour sound clear
The days all pass I’m still here.

Dis Manibus
Gustave Flaubert, whose honoured rôle
Was to be scribe to Nero's soul,
And make French flesh to creep and crow
O'er Carthaginian Salammbô,
Lies here—in body, as in the brain,
Like Morgue-corpse tumid from the Seine.
What shall be writ above his grave?
Vitellius', Nero's dying stave?
“Fui Imperator,” shall it flow,
Or “Qualis artifex pereo.

My Father
Judy collins
Original lyrics by judy collins
My father always promised me
That we would live in france
Wed go boating on the seine
And I would learn to dance
We lived in ohio then
He worked in the mines
On his dreams like boats
We knew we would sail in time
All my sisters soon were gone
To denver and cheyenne
Marrying their grownup dreams
The lilacs and the man
I stayed behind the youngest still
Only danced alone
The colors of my fathers dreams
Faded without a sound
And I live in paris now
My children dance and dream
Hearing the ways of a miners life
In words theyve never seen
I sail my memories of home
Like boats across the seine
And watch the paris sun
As it sets in my fathers eyes again
My father always promised us
That we would live in france
Wed go boating on the seine
And I would learn to dance
I sail my memories of home
Like boats across the seine
And watch the paris sun
As it sets in my fathers eyes again

Eighteenth-Nineteenth Century Verse
France is the country of poems and prose
the lovely French language tells us so.
Romantic love in classical verse
dates back to Voltaire from days long ago.
The 18th century brought poets from Paris
writing about France and the Seine,
and so many other Parisian wonders
that lie in that fertile plain.
Yes France was a country of talent
In England, Wordsworth stole the scene
whilst Coleridge, another fine English poet
wrote lyrical verse about Pastures Green.

Just One Of Those Days
You get up in the morning
and that’s when it starts,
as soon as you get out of bed.
You start wishing you had stayed there.
First, you can’t find your keys
or your mobile phone
and you begin wondering
if it would have been better to stay at home.
At work, everything wants to work in reverse
and for some reason your brain
refuses to get into gear.
As the day progresses
you go on a downward slope.
The day becomes a total disaster
without any hope.
You close your eyes
and wish you had turned over
and stayed in bed,
instead of struggling through
just one of those days.

We fell in love and I made you the world
I spent all my time tryin to satisfy you, girl
Just one thing that I cant figure out [? ]
Closer I get, farther baby I am out [? ]
30 days, 30 days out
Well Im six days runnin but Im 30 days out
30 days, 30 days out
With every kiss you leave a little shadow of doubt
The roof was leakin honey where we live
And Im wonderin whats that something that you wont give
I started loving you but I gotta stop
You got me mostly waitin for that other shoe to drop
30 days, 30 days out
You keep me six days runnin but Im 30 days out
30 days, 30 days out
With every kiss you leave a little shadow of doubt
Tried to talk about whats goin on
You just smile and tell me baby there aint nothin wrong
In your smile theres a sign in red
It said thousand miles of hard road dead ahead
30 days, 30 days out
Yeah Im six days runnin but Im 30 days out
30 days, 30 days out
With every kiss you leave a little shadow of doubt
30 days, 30 days out

Dog Days of Summer
It’s a hot and lazy time of year
With temperatures rising high
A body doesn’t want to work
Doesn’t even want to try
It’s time to lie around and rest
Not exert much energy
It’s too hot to work but rather
We want to take it pretty easy
And if you do have to work
Either do it early in the morn
Or after the sun goes down
Sometime before the dawn
Oh how nice it feels
On these dog days of summer
When the sun drops down
The day has turned a bit cooler
So in the midst of winter time
When snow is on the hills
Dog days of summer sound
Kind of good amongst the chills!

Only In Your Heart
Mary, have you seen better days?
And will you find different ways?
And does he really mean that much to your heart?
Carry, all of the weight you can, find another man
And lead him directly there to the source
Youve got to chart his course
cause it is only in your heart
This thing that makes you want to
Start it all again
(la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la)
Wake up from an elusive dream
Youve got to change the scene
Its getting so hard to see to the end
Break down, all of the walls you can
You need a helping hand
Im sure theres someone there just for you
Hes trying to make it, too
cause it is only in your heart
This thing that makes you want to
Start it all again
(la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la)
Only in your heart
This thing that makes you want to
Start it all again
(la, la, la, la)
You cant disregard your friends
But life gets so hard when you reach the end
Mary, have you seen better days?
(mary, have you seen better days? )
Mary, have you seen better days?
(mary, have you seen better days? )
Mary, have you seen better days?
(mary, have you seen better days? )
Mary, have you seen better days?
(mary, have you seen better days? )

Payment
A tortuous path of neurons arced a call: ‘Awake! ’
I did; in rising, peering, stretching, bearing,
Pained anticipation saw it all:
Foretold, another filthy day.
I drew the drape: diluvian lay the ground
Beneath a lazy leaden cloud – apissing out
The puddles; irksome on the roof –
The drumming drops of bitter glee
Were hounding out a hapless me –
Reinforcing doubt that I am sound.
I left the house
to go to work
to earn a crust
without a perk
then on to bust
another straining vessel.
Trudging on thro’ mud and clay, I pondered:
‘Why a drought of happy times?
Auspicious climes were
Old and fusty books
Atop a dusty shelf
Inside a morgue-of-a-room,
Somewhere in a long-forgotten library
Down a lane without a way.’
I thought again: ‘And still I pay.’

Ages to Ages
Work was with pain those days
Work was with lot of pain but with less gain.
Work was with lot of pain and more strain
Even though work was with lot of pain and more strain, most of the things were in vein.
Now-a-days work is of less strain and no pain, But with lot of gain.
Now-a-days enormous work is replaced by effective and efficient work.
It is the day of harmony and glare.
Now-a-days there is lesser strain and lot of gain.
But one day will come when there won’t be to humans any pain and strain because every thing will be done using machine's brain then no one will take a chance to know, that they have a brain.

Stay For A While
Long time since Ive seen your smile,
But when I close my eyes,
I remember
You were no more than a child,
But then so was i,
Young and tender.
Time carries on;
I guess it always will,
But deep inside my heart
Time stands still.
Stay for awhile.
Well, its good to see your smile,
And I love your company.
Stay for awhile.
And remember the days gone by;
For a moment it can seem
Just the way it used to be.
Snowfalls, phone calls, broken hearts,
Clear summer days,
Warm and lazy;
Long walks, long talks, after dark;
We vowed wed never forget.
Now its hazy.
Time takes its toll,
And time alters our view.
It would be nice to
Spend some time with you.
Oh, stay for awhile.
Well, its good to see your smile,
And I love your company.
(oohhh) stay for awhile.
And remember the days gone by;
For a moment it can seem
Just the way it used to be.
Stay....
(please stay.)
Stay, stay, stay....
One, two, one, two.
Stay for awhile.
Well, its good to see your smile,
And I love your company.
(oohhh) stay for awhile.
And remember the days gone by;
Just the way it used to be.
Stay for awhile.
Oh, its good to see your smile,
And I love your company.
Wont you stay with me for awhile,
And remember the days gone by;
For a moment it can seem
Just the way it used to be.
(the way it used to be. be.......
The way it used to be, ooohhhh, aaaahhhhhh. ooooooooooooooh.
Now, now, now, now.... hoohhhhhh....)

Old Days
Old days
Good times I remember
Fun days
Filled with simple pleasures
Drive-in movies
Comic books and blue jeans
Howdy doody
Baseball cards and birthdays
Take me back
To a world gone away
Memories
Seem like yesterday
Old days
Good times I remember
Gold days
Days Ill always treasure
Funny faces
Full of love and laughter
Funny places
Summer nights and streetcars
Take me back
To a world gone away
Boyhood memories
Seem like yesterday
Old days - in my mind and in my heart to stay
Old days - darkened dreams of good times gone away
Old days - days of love and feeling fancy free
Old days - days of magic still so close to me
Old days - in my mind and in my heart to stay
Old days - darkened dreams of good times gone away
Old days - days of love and feeling fancy free
Old days - days of magic still so close to me

Two Days Old
I am but two days old and i have no name,
Pretty young thing but i am nobody to you;
But i do know that i love you.
Sleep my little one when you are with a wise man,
Sing my sweet one when you want to know who i am;
For i am but two days old and i have no name,
But i am waiting for an intellectual exercise to touch my heart.
You better find out to learn more about me,
Because i am two days old and i only learnt from the womb;
But what can you say to a naked body? !
Since you've now made a bomb which can easily send me to the tomb.
I am but two days old and i have no name,
But you are snapping on my menu books!
And this pretty young thing is about to teach you.

Good Enough
If I woke up late
Couldn't get out of bed
If I bought you a café latte instead
If I lied when I said 32 inches was the size of my waist
And if I admit every once in a while
Even though I dig alternative style
Occasionally I can be caught dancin' to Brittany
And can I confess
That art house doesn't turn me on
But I like every single thing that Speilberg's done (Except A.I.)
Could I be good enough
Could I be good enough
If the going got worse and the worse got rough
The days became endless and harder than tough
I'd be good enough
Better than best would be simply to be good enough
If everything I give doesn't seem like a lot
If it's all that I got
Baby tell that could be good enough
Where I grew up
The rent was cheap
But we always had enough to eat Didn't have fancy clothes
I never really cared coz there were shoes on my toes
And motherly love
I knew it like the back of my hand
She always had a way to make me understand
I could be good enough
I could be good enough
If the going got worse and the worse got rough
The days became endless and harder than tough
I'd be good enough
Better than best would be simply to be good enough
If everything I give doesn't seem like a lot
If it's all that I got
Baby tell me that could be good enough
Coz I don't know which way this road is gonna turn
But I know it's gonna be fine
But there are some days no matter how much I've learned
That the road gets tough
And I don't feel good enough
But if you're giving me some of that loving
Could you pass some over
Let me cry on your shoulder and tell me baby
I could be good enough
If I lost my job
And my hair fell out
If I made no sense
And I scream and shout
Would you laugh at me?
Never take a word I say seriously And if I'm out in the cold
Waiting in the back of the line
Too afraid to drop my name for fear of decline
Could you tell me I'm good enough? Could I be good enough?
If the going got worse and the worse got rough
The days became endless and harder than tough
I'd be good enough
Better than best would be simply to be good enough
If everything I give doesn't seem like a lot
If it's all that I've got
Baby tell me that could be good enough
I need to know that I could be good enough
Because everybody wants to feel good enough
Show me baby
Tell me
Come on a prove it baby
Give it to me

Lazy Days (Fun Poem 111)
We all look forward to those days off
when we have no work to do.
The lazy days when you can have
that lie in bed you promised yourself to
and when you finally get up
out into the garden you go
to sit in a chair
and put your feet up enjoying the sun.
If you live in England it’s enjoy the rain.
How those days never seem to happen,
the lie in bed goes a miss
when someone wakes you up
telling you there is work around
the house that has to be done.
As for putting your feet up
you can forget about that to.
There is no rest for the wicked.
Oh my, what have I done?
Lazy days! Yuk! You keep them
they are never any fun;
I’d rather be back at work.
Well that will soon come.
Like all holidays they go too quickly,
here one minute and gone the next.
So much for those lazy days
for you work harder in those than at work.
When you go back to work,
you hear about the wonderful time
someone else had on their day off,
it makes you feel sick,
and all the jobs you had to do.
Then you go and ask your boss
when your next holiday is due.
You promise to make it better,
but in the end, you never do.

Oh Happy Days
Oh happy days,
Everyone likes you.
Oh happy days,
Please stay today.
Oh happy days,
Sweet like honey.
Oh happy days,
loving family ties.
Oh happy days,
Giving us strength.
Oh happy days,
Children out playing.
Oh happy days,
On the green grass.
Oh happy days,
With boundless optimism.
Oh happy days,
I give thanks.
Oh happy days,
Dreaming for more.
Oh happy days,
Warm and bright.
Oh happy days,
Like love eternal.
Oh happy days,
And glad memories.
Oh happy days,
New hope prayers.
Oh happy days,
With smiling faces.
Oh happy days,
Holidays and health.
Oh happy days,
With close friends.
Oh happy days,
Generous and giving.
Oh happy days,
Shiny rainbow dreams.
Oh happy days,
Till the very end.
Oh happy days,
Always and forever.
Amen.

These Are The Days
Motel sitting in the dark
Empty room like an empty heart
Love will start but they never stay
They don't look back as they drive away
Maybe I
Fix this broken head light
Feeling the cracks and pain arise
And maybe love will stop here tonite
And if she knocks on my door
i'll give her the key
Just one look in her eyes and i know i'll be
Everything that she sees in me
More than i ever thought i could be but
These are the days
When all that i can do is dream
But i don't wanna spend forever
living in the in between
I'm stuck here in a place without love
And i just can't let it stay this way
But for now i'm gonna have to face it
These are the days
Gotta use this lonely time
To change the picture in my frame of mind
Outside the window theres a sunny day
I wanna feel it on my face
You and I
Are out looking for the same thing
And these walls of wondering
Waiting for someone to share this feeling
And if she knocks on my door
i'll give her the key
Just one look in her eyes and i know i'll be
Everything that she sees in me
More than i ever thought i could be but
These are the days
When all that i can do is dream
But i don't wanna spend forever
living in the in between
I'm stuck here in a place without love
And i just can't let it stay this way
But for now i'm gonna have to face it
These are the days
These are the days between your hopes and fears
These are the moments that are still locked here
There still inside even if she will not hear
Like it or not this is what i got
Ohhh God
These are the days
When all that i can do is dream
But i don't wanna spend forever
living in the in between and
I'm stuck here in a place without love
And i just can't let it stay this way (yeah)
But for now i'm gonna have to face it cause
These are the days
These are the days
When all that i can do is dream
But i don't wanna spend forever
living in the in between
I'm stuck here in a place without love
And i just can't let it stay this way
But for now i'm gonna have to face it

Writing for a past me, so that she might leave in peace.
There are days I write for a past me; a me hiding within this shell beneath a mask; a me that pushes my back against these cavernous wall, hoping, secretly, that they would finally cave in. The death of the person I used to once call me, hiding in there now, might be the best thing to happen yet.
She whispers in her tormented sleep that she's sorry. -For the aches, the pains, the hurt, the loss; that she would take it back if only she could, but hopes nonetheless that the more painful lessons of life have taught me well and remain with me still. She won't ask me to mourn her loss, as much as it hurts her to have her unremembered, but I see it in her eyes and mine that there will be days that I troupe back to pay my respects to this fountain -This fountain that learned to spill blood and sweat and tears amidst guilt, hard work and grit; I will remember it even as it splutters its last.
Perhaps I might consciously learn to forget, but somehow I feel I will spend days waking to find mementos picked up in my half-wandering sleep.
Days Go By
Sit down, sit back and watch the days go by
Are you ever gonna live before you die
And when things fall apart
The world has come undone
Leave it all behind
Leave the loneliness alone
You wait forever blind
So come on and leave the years
When you watched the days go by
Come on and leave the fears
That you were afraid to find
'Cause while you wait inside
The days go by
So all the memories fade
And the days go by
Forget the lonely yesterdays in mind
I know it's never gonna be the way you like
I know you don't wanna think about the endlessness you find
You wait forever blind
So come on and leave the years
When you watched the days go by
Come on and leave the fears
That you were afraid to find
You're waiting for your time (waiting for your time)
All these days gone wrong
Who broke your fall
What a way to learn
So come on and leave the years
When you watched the days go by
Come on and leave the fears
That you were afraid to find
Time is passing by (time is passing by)
So come on and leave the years
When you watched the days go by
Come on and leave the fears
That you were afraid to find
'Cause while you wait inside
The days go by
