The day you left me allowed me to feel so much joy on thee inside that being free never felt so good! ! I thought I'll have a break down! because of your ability to show up and show out and hit me time and time again in the heart with a surprise that I thought I'll die. I became a custom to your baggage of tricks and disappearing, reappearing acts like Im some **** walking in and out of my life like you became the leap year or Robin Hood because you took. But I thank YoU! ! ! ! Because I needed to take the time for me to rethink that I deserved better then this! ! ! ! !
I came to the place to find me in the mist of what I allow to happen, to happen! ! ! go on far to long. That when I reposition my thinking I found my worth! and I for gave me. Long Lost Daughter
This poem was inspired by a storyline on the TV show 'Casualty', when Colette's long lost daughter found her.
My Mum came to see me at work,
Asking to speak to me urgently.
She had recieved a phone call
From my long lost daughter, Natalie.
Then one day, Natalie turned up at work.
I was taken by surprise:
She was a beautiful young lady now,
And was stood before my very eyes.
I asked my boss for an hour's break.
Natalie and I went for a walk.
We had a lot of catching up to do,
And had a good heart to heart talk.
She asked why I had her adopted
And I had to tell her the truth.
My Mum had told me if I kept her,
I was no longer welcome under her roof.
I was fifteen at the time.
I was alone and very afraid.
Soon after I had her, she was whisked away,
And so it was at home I stayed.
She asked about her father,
But he left me years ago.
When he discovered I was pregnant,
He just didn't want to know.
Sixteen years had passed
Since I gave my little girl away,
But eventhough life carried on,
I thought about her every day.
Only those close to me knew of her existence.
I'd kept her a secret all that time,
But now the time had finally arrived,
To tell the world, Natalie was mine!

The Box
On the top shelf in the closet,
In the workshop where he spent his extra time
Was a dust wooden box _that I had never noticed till that time
And we set on the table and carefully, we opened up the top
And stared into the memory_daddy kept inside the box
There was a letter from mamma, when she went out to reno
To help her sister out in 62
And a flower from hawaii, when they went on vacation
It was the first time that my daddy ever flew
And the pocket knife I gave__to him on fathers day
Years ago, I thought it had been lost
We all thought his heart was made from solid rock
But that was long before we found the box
I guess we always knew it_but I love you was hard for him to say
Some men show it easy and some just never seem to find the way
But that night I began__to see the softer side of some I had lost
I saw the love he kept inside the first time_we opened up the box
There was a picture that was taken,when he and mom were dating
Standing by his 1944,
And the faded leather bible, he got when he was baptised
I guess no one understood him like the lord
And the poem that he had written, about his wife and children
The tender words he spoke were quite a shock
