Lorne
Where the road's white bracelet runs
Round the cliff 'twixt bush and sea,
Gleaming 'neath the summer's suns
There she rests delightfully
There she rests, a jewel set
In the bracelet's shining band
Far from all the stress and fret
Of the markets of the land.
Summers come and summers go:
There she beckons pleasantly
By the gentle ebb and flow
Of her blue, eternal sea.
Where the Ocean Road dips down,
There she greets, the Southern Queen,
Weary men from mart and town,
Seeking strength from her bright scene.
Wooded slope and waterfall,
Mountain path and shining sand,
Bush and beach - she offers all
Offers with a generous hand.
All the gifts for which men sigh,
Seeking ease and soft release.
And the summers, drifting by,
Bring her loveliness increase.
In the light of Loutitt Bay,
There she smiles, the Southern Queen,
Lending to a summer's day
Grateful rest and mood serene.
Lady Lorne, the lovely one,
Jewel of uncounted price
Friend of the children of the sun,
The honeymooners' paradise.

High Summer
By the mansion on the hillside
Red sports car comes driving down the road
And pulls up into the driveway
And a story does unfold
Shes standing by the rhododendrons
Where the roses are in bloom
Looking out at the atlantic ocean
And in her head she hums this tune
Thank God the dark nights are drawing in again
cos high summer has got me down
Ill wait till the end of august
And get off this merry-go-round
And they shut him out of paradise
Called him lucifer and frowned
She took pride in what God made him
Even before the angels shot him down to the ground
Hes a light out of the darkness
And he wears a starry crown
If you see him, nothing will shake him
cos high summer has got him low down
High summers got him lonesome
Eyen when he makes the rounds
Theres been no two ways about it
High summers got him low down
Checked in to the tiny village by the lakeside
Settled down to start a new
Far away from the politicians
And the many chosen few
Far away trom the jealousy factor
And everything that was tearing him apart
Far away from the organ grinder
And everyone that played their part
And they shut him out of paradise
Called him lucifer and frowned
cos he took pride in what God made him
Eyen before the angels shot him to the ground
Hes a light out of the darkness
And he wears a starry crown
If you see him nothings shaken
cos high summers got him low down
High summers on the rebound
High summers got him low down
High summers on the rebound
High summers got him down, low down
High summers on the rebound
High summers got him low down
Low down

Summers Gone
Looking in a window on a rainy day.
Thinking about good things that I just threw away.
Looking in the gutter, watching the trash go flowing by.
Thinking its summer, but there are only clouds in the sky.
When I think about what we wasted, makes me sad,
We never appreciated what we had.
Now Im standing in a doorway with my overcoat on,
It really feels like summers gone.
So alone.
Summers gone.
It should have been a laugh, it should have been fun,
When I think of all the things that we did last summer.
Now I look back, it seems such a crime,
We couldnt appreciate it at the time.
Now Im standing in a doorway, thinking of summers gone by.
It ought to make me happy, but it just makes me want to cry.
I was riding in the car with my mum and dad,
He was drivin the car, the kids were drivin him mad.
Dad looked at us, then he looked at his wife,
He must have wondered where we all came from.
And then mum said, dad, you know it wont last for long,
Before you know it, summers gone.
So alone.
Summers gone.
I really blew it all, when I think it through,
I really lost it all when I lost you.
Now Im standing in a doorway with water in my shoes,
It really feels like, feels like summers gone.
So alone.
Summers gone.
Summers gone, so alone.
Summers gone.

Summer Of '78
It was one of those summers
lasting forever
making the winter wait.
A summer of music and passion
the summer of '78.
You appeared like the summer
sudden and perfect
and not a day too late.
I swear there was music
when I found you
that summer of '78.
It seemed we floated
through the days
and nights were always
filled with stars.
And it seemed every song
that they played on the
radio was ours.
It was one of those summers
only for lovers
touched by the hand of fate.
And now when winter's are long
I remember the summer of '78...

All On A Summers Night
We were dancin barefoot on the moonlit sand,
We were makin music we dont need a band,
I cant believe we only met tonight!
Cos we wont let each other out of site.
Maybe I should feel a twinge of shame,
Were almost lovers I dont know your name.
A voice inside shouts like a traffic cop, stop!
Im gonna love you after all,
On a summers night, who cares about tomorrow, baby,
All on a summers night, and everything will turn out right,
The nights so young we danced all through the night,
Your even better in the morning light,
? ,
It maybe love or maybe just the wine,
? , turn your head around,
Or is it you that makes my ? found?
A voice inside shouts like a traffic cop, stop!
Im gonna love you any way,
On a summers day, who cares about tomorrow, baby,
All on a summers day, and everything will turn out right,
You, and me, all alone on here on the beach tonight,
With the moon and the stars, and the sand, and the waves.
Oh! I know this night will never end,
I love you darling, always.
Were barely seen out in the burning heat,
The evening tide is washed up on our feet,
Were all alone on the beach again,
The faitless ? washed away the sand,
I feel like celebrating finding you,
Were often running the whole night through.
A voice inside shouts like a traffic cop, stop!
You say you loved me after all, on a summers night,
The greatest things can happen, baby, all on a summers night,
And everything had turned out right, all on a summers day.
Who cares about tomorrow, baby,
All on a summers day, Im gonna love you anyway,
All on a summers night, the greatest things can happen.

I Remember the Snows in the Summer's Light
I remember the snows in the summer's light
Thinking of winter in summer;
When I see the blue, I see white;
I see the fume over roofs so bright,
Feel the warm air caressed by azure,
I remember the snows in the summer's light.
Summers are lazy in my inner sight,
Winters, lazy on the outside, are sure to secure
The blue when I sense the cold of white.
Winter takes me on a summer's flight
To visit the summer and endure
Snows and remember the light.
Perhaps I like spring and fall best,
But winter is spring in summer to allure
Me to feel the fall and see blue in white.
I keep remembering, seeing the bright;
Everything is just a thought you conjure;
I always remember the snows hiding in the light;
When I see the blue, I also see the white.

Summer Rose
Winters instincts freeze the day,
My lovely summer rose shed it's petal's to keep the cold away,
Every petal resembles warmth and a new love into my heart,
Melting all of the ice inside to make a shallow bay,
Piercing me with her thorns like a dart,
Blinding me with its view,
My summer rose came into bloom,
The light shined like never before,
Bringing me into a world of never-ending doors,
A summer rose showed me the way,
Into the door that sealed my heart with yours forever to stay,
As the door closes keeping only you inside,
Your heart and mine began to collide,
One rose truly stood out most of all,
A summer rose only i can see,
Show everyone how much you mean to me,
Fill them with what you hold back and only keep for me within you,
Everybody watch closely and begin to see,
Here comes the summers majesty
She walks this way this kingdom bound,
Ill bow down beneath her for my heart she won,
A everlasting pedal will hit the ground,
For the dance of burning summers had just begun,
Love like this keeps the summer intertwined,
My bright rose the battle was mine,
The war you started on your own,
Let the summer reign for my vibrant rose,
As she molds her self into my heart like soft clay,
Melody's ring the summer still here,
An ancient hymn begins to bring me near,
My summer rose you've found me again,
Now together, forever will burn,
For each other until the very end,

Surrender Paradise
Tropical breeze caressing me, sweet fragrant air enticing me
Starlight skies are offering their love to me
I surrender to you, paradise
Heaven and earth are becoming as one shining light on their world
Open your heart, spread your wings, take a chance for the flight of your life.
Warm summer nights, the twinkling of stars
Gardenia blooms, whispering love
Moonlight playing up and down a drifting waterfall
I surrender to you, paradise
Crystal blue sea, white sandy beach
Sunset commands a rainbow array
All the birds in wonderland are singing perfect harmony
I surrender to you, paradise
Heaven and earth are becoming as one shining light on their world
Open your heart, spread your wings, take a chance for the flight of your life.
Secrets of love are lurking beyond
Rapture me now, your passion is mine
Sun-kissed waves are frolicking along the familiar shore
I surrender to you, paradise
Butterflies are fluttering atop a stream
I surrender to you, paradise
Moonlight playing up and down a drifting waterfall
I surrender to you paradise
I surrender, my love
When you want me, you need me, Ill always be here
Giving my love to you, paradise

Indian Summer
Barry gibb/larry gatlin
You were a lady - like lady I was a boy running wild
The way that you used everything that God gave you
I gave you my heart like a child, one moment you took me to heaven
Took me back to earth and then before I woke up to the fact I was small you took me back to heaven again
And I remember the indian summer how you held me, how you loved me (loved me loved me)
The world may give me a million reasons but reasons dont make it wrong
Every lesson I learned has a price in return I was lost in my youth and to tell you the truth
I was empty and you filled me with a glow of love a loving loves may die
Just to hear you that sees me through, oh what Id give to re-live all the indian summers with you
So many hearts have been broken (dum dum dum dum-by do wah)
You had no trouble with mine like a fool I was there for the taking (but then)
It was only a matter of time you can lie in the sun with the warm wind blowing
Just knowing youve already paid but you cant live alone in an indian summer at 110 in the shade
And I remember (and I remember) the indian summer
How you held me in the moonlight
We were riding along on a silver dream never dreaming it off our head
And if Id known Id lose you the moment I found you Id love you all over again
Cos Im still empty (Im still empty) come fill me ( come fill me)
With a fire of love your flame will follow flame cos its all I want to do
Oh what Id give to re-live all the indian summers with you
Oh what Id give to re-live all the indian summers with you
Oh what Id give to re-live all the indian summers with you
Oh what Id give to re-live all the indian summers with you-oooooooooooooooooo

Queensland Opal
Opal, little opal, with the red fire glancing,
Set my blood a-spinning, set my pulse a-stir,
Strike the harp of memory, set my dull heart dancing
Southward to the Sunny Land and the love of Her!
Opal, shining opal, let them call you luckless jewel,
Let them curse or let them covet, you are still my heart's desire,
You that robbed the sun and moon and green earth for fuel
To gather to your milky breast and fill your veins with fire!
Green of fluttering gum-leaves above dim water-courses,
Red of rolling dust-clouds, blue of summer skies,
Flash of flints afire beneath the hoofs of racing horses,
Sunlight and moonlight and light of lovers' eyes
Pink clasping hands amid a Southern summer gloaming,
Green of August grasses, white of dew-sprung pearls,
Grey of winging wild geese into the Sunset homing,
Twined with all the kisses of a Queen of Queensland girls!

Coogee
Sing the song of wave-worn Coogee, Coogee in the distance white,
With its jags and points disrupted, gaps and fractures fringed with light;
Haunt of gledes, and restless plovers of the melancholy wail
Ever lending deeper pathos to the melancholy gale.
There, my brothers, down the fissures, chasms deep and wan and wild,
Grows the sea-bloom, one that blushes like a shrinking, fair, blind child;
And amongst the oozing forelands many a glad, green rock-vine runs,
Getting ease on earthy ledges, sheltered from December suns.
Often, when a gusty morning, rising cold and grey and strange,
Lifts its face from watery spaces, vistas full with cloudy change,
Bearing up a gloomy burden which anon begins to wane,
Fading in the sudden shadow of a dark, determined rain,
Do I seek an eastern window, so to watch the breakers beat
Round the steadfast crags of Coogee, dim with drifts of driving sleet:
Hearing hollow mournful noises sweeping down a solemn shore,
While the grim sea-caves are tideless, and the storm strives at their core.
Often when the floating vapours fill the silent autumn leas,
Dreaming mem’ries fall like moonlight over silver sleeping seas.
Youth and I and Love together! Other times and other themes
Come to me unsung, unwept for, through the faded evening gleams:
Come to me and touch me mutely — I that looked and longed so well,
Shall I look and yet forget them? — who may know or who foretell?
Though the southern wind roams, shadowed with its immemorial grief,
Where the frosty wings of Winter leave their whiteness on the leaf.
Friend of mine beyond the waters, here and here these perished days
Haunt me with their sweet dead faces and their old divided ways.
You that helped and you that loved me, take this song, and when you read,
Let the lost things come about you, set your thoughts and hear and heed.
Time has laid his burden on us — we who wear our manhood now,
We would be the boys we have been, free of heart and bright of brow —
Be the boys for just an hour, with the splendour and the speech
Of thy lights and thunders, Coogee, flying up thy gleaming beach.
Heart’s desire and heart’s division! who would come and say to me,
With the eyes of far-off friendship, “You are as you used to be”?
Something glad and good has left me here with sickening discontent,
Tired of looking, neither knowing what it was or where it went.
So it is this sight of Coogee, shining in the morning dew,
Sets me stumbling through dim summers once on fire with youth and you —
Summers pale as southern evenings when the year has lost its power
And the wasted face of April weeps above the withered flower.
Not that seasons bring no solace, not that time lacks light and rest;
But the old things were the dearest and the old loves seem the best.
We that start at songs familiar, we that tremble at a tone
Floating down the ways of music, like a sigh of sweetness flown,
We can never feel the freshness, never find again the mood
Left among fair-featured places, brightened of our brotherhood.
This and this we have to think of when the night is over all,
And the woods begin to perish and the rains begin to fall

The Girdle Of Friendship
SHE gathered at her slender waist
The beauteous robe she wore;
Its folds a golden belt embraced,
One rose-hued gem it bore.
The girdle shrank; its lessening round
Still kept the shining gem,
But now her flowing locks it bound,
A lustrous diadem.
And narrower still the circlet grew;
Behold! a glittering band,
Its roseate diamond set anew,
Her neck's white column spanned.
Suns rise and set; the straining clasp
The shortened links resist,
Yet flashes in a bracelet's grasp
The diamond, on her wrist.
At length, the round of changes past
The thieving years could bring,
The jewel, glittering to the last,
Still sparkles in a ring.
So, link by link, our friendships part,
So loosen, break, and fall,
A narrowing zone; the loving heart
Lives changeless through them all.

Summer In Paradise
Way back when well our master plan
Was havin fun fun fun as americas band
Well we came out rockin with rhonda and barbara ann
Singin of surf and sand
Now when we look back over all the fun we had
If our lifestyles over now it sure is sad
We gotta get back to livin without a care
Give me sunshine water and an ozone layer
Paradise is a state of mind
Where mother nature nurtures and man is kind
We need a change now wouldnt it be nice
If we could bring back summer
Get us back our summer
Summer in paradise
(paradise)
Summer in paradise (paradise)
They chop down the forests
And in their haste leave a trail of destruction
And toxic waste is leavin no one safe
In their home or their habitat
Cant let it go like that
Too much consumption and too much greed
When you consider all the people
That are livin in need
Interdependence in this world is a natural fact
And were all under attack
Its the eve of destruction or so they say
But mankind doesnt have to go that way
If we all get together we can make things right
And we can bring back summer
Get us back our summer
Summer in paradise
(paradise)
Summer in paradise (paradise)
Summer in paradise (paradise)
Summer in paradise
Surfers recycle now dont you know
Like evryone from california to kokomo
Were gonna keep on rockin
And raisin world consciousness
We gotta fix this mess
Looked in the future and what I saw
Was a world in harmony with natural law
Theres trouble now but it will be alright if we can
Bring back summer
Get us back our summer
Summer in paradise
(paradise)
Summer in paradise (paradise)
Summer in paradise (paradise)
Summer in paradise (paradise)
Summer in paradise

Summer Soft
Summer soft ....
Wakes you up with a kiss to start the morning off
In the midst of herself playing santa claus
She brings gifts through her breeze
Morning rain ....
Gently plays her rhythmns on your window pane
Giving you no clue of when she plans to change
To bring rain or sunshine
And so you wait to see what shell do
Is it sun or rain for you
But it breaks your heart in two
When you find its october
And shes gone
And shes gone
Summers gone
Taking with her summers play
Winter wind....
Whispers to you that he wants to be your friend
But not waiting for your answer he begins
Forcing dangers way with his breeze
Morning snow...
Plans to have a winter ball for you to throw
But just where or when he never lets you know
If its snow or clear days youll find
And so you wait to see what hell do
Is it sun or rain for you
But it breaks your heart in two
Cause youve been fooled by april
And hes gone
And hes gone
Winters gone
You find its october
And shes gone
And shes gone
Summers gone
Youve been fooled by april
And hes gone
And hes gone
Winters gone
You find its october
And shes gone
And shes gone
Summers gone
Youve been fooled by april
And hes gone
And hes gone
Winters gone

The Ocean Strand
O leave the labouring roadways of the town,
The shifting faces and the changeful hue
Of markets, and broad echoing streets that drown
The heart’s own silent music. Though they too
Sing in their proper rhythm, and still delight
The friendly ear that loves warm human kind,
Yet it is good to leave them all behind,
Now when from lily dawn to purple night
Summer is queen,
Summer is queen in all the happy land.
Far, far away among the valleys green
Let us go forth and wander hand in hand
Beyond those solemn hills that we have seen
So often welcome home the falling sun
Into their cloudy peaks when day was done—
Beyond them till we find the ocean strand
And hear the great waves run,
With the waste song whose melodies I’d follow
And weary not for many a summer day,
Born of the vaulted breakers arching hollow
Before they flash and scatter into spray,
On, if we should be weary of their play
Then I would lead you further into land
Where, with their ragged walls, the stately rocks
Shunt in smooth courts and paved with quiet sand
To silence dedicate. The sea-god’s flocks
Have rested here, and mortal eyes have seen
By great adventure at the dead of noon
A lonely nereid drowsing half a-swoon
Buried beneath her dark and dripping locks.

Summers Almost Gone
Summers almost gone
Summers almost gone
Almost gone
Yeah, its almost gone
Where will we be
When the summers gone?
Morning found us calmly unaware
Noon burn gold into our hair
At night, we swim the laughin sea
When summers gone
Where will we be
Where will we be
Where will we be
Morning found us calmly unaware
Noon burn gold into our hair
At night, we swim the laughin sea
When summers gone
Where will we be
Summers almost gone
Summers almost gone
We had some good times
But theyre gone
The winters comin on
Summers almost gone

Heavenly Force
Summer's warmth floats in the air,
Here, there and everywhere.
Sunshine escaping between the cloud,
Waking our minds from brooding bowed.
So let it therefore persevere,
By entering, without impediment, the atmosphere,
Where we sojourn in silent contemplation,
Just pondering, there is no loud oration.
A kind of gentle tranquil bliss,
Where in, we tend to reminisce,
On all those summers gone before,
Such pleasant memories we've kept in store.
We bring them forth once the season's right,
When sunbeams shine so brilliantly bright.
Lifting our hearts with joyful things,
As if our spirits had been given wings.
And opened up the world around,
Leaving us entirely spellbound.
With a feeling of a summer clime,
When the bells of recall start to chime.
Such optimism, this time of year,
Which grows when hot temperatures appear.
Summers's warmth, a unique source,
A wondrous, enlightening, heavenly force.

The Colonists
To men now of her blood and race
England's a little garden place,
Dear as a woman is, and she
The Queen of every loyalty.
To dwellers 'mid the ice and snows,
She is their secret garden rose
From which that bee, their heart, sucks off
For the cold Winter honey enough.
To toilers 'mid the sultry plains,
Sick for her tempered suns and rains,
She is the thought that wets their eyes
And hearts with dew of Paradise.
Most loved of those who never knew
Her green o' the silk and her soft blue,
Her mild inviolate fields that be
Hedged with the sweet-briar of the sea.
Sweet in their dreams her Summers are,
Her tranquil nights of moon and star,
The love-songs of her nightingales;
A water-spring that never fails.
Amid their unending distances
Her little crowded sweetness is
A dream of rest, a dream of prayer,
With homes and children everywhere.
Touch her -- and they are all on fire,
This little land of their desire
Seen in a mirage far away
With light upon her night and day.

And if you really want to mess with my head give me anything southern fried

A Rhapsody To Urana
We know of Uranus, God to The Sky
Declaimed by Hellenic Invaders of Thessaly
Yet history forgets the true Sky Deity
The lovely Urana, Sky Goddess of equanimity
Her name's eponymy, `Queen of The Mountains`
`Queen of Summer`, `Queen of The Winds`
`Queen of The Oxen`, `Queen of Sky Rains`
Orgiastic Queen, of mid-summer din
I flout the Aryan Decree of Varuna
Who claimed to Father, the north of Greece
The indigo blue in The Sky of Urana
Belongs to The Ladies of peace
We, Fantast scions, of Delphi's roots
Bemused by Pythoness Epithia
Staid are we, who know the truth
Of the Lady Sky...............Urana

Feeling That Way
Opened my eyes to a new kind of way
All the good times that you saved
Are you feeling,
You feeling that way too
Or am I just,
Am I just a fool
When the summers gone
Shell be there standing by the light
Once shes bee to where shes gone to
She should know wrong from right
A new roads waiting, you touched my life
Soft and warm on a summers night
Youre the only one, the only one I love
The lovely one, Im thinking of
