Dinner and Dinty

He dreaded not dark, nor the lonely road,
For the world, as he knew it, was kind.
Nor threat of the risk, nor necessity's goad
Gave fear to his innocent mind.
He was merely abroad for a country stroll:
And where lay the peril in that?
While themes so engaging delighted his mind
As dinner and Dinty the cat.

Then the summons went out and the search was on:
For the danger was clear to all.
Dread death was abroad where the child had gone,
But he answered to never a call.
He harked to the birds, and he dreamed his dreams,
As deep in the forest he sat;
And his mind went back to those two great themes:
Dinner, and Dinty the cat.

They found him at last with a smile on his face,
As he prattled of important things;
And, in thankfulness for the heavenly grace,
Men gave to their faith wings.
They pondered in fear what might have-been,
And on terrors thro' fear begat,
But he prattled away, in a mood serene,
Of dinner and Dinty the cat.

Dinner and Dinty. How much we lost
When our joy in the simple things waned.
We have learned of evil - at what a cost?
With our wisdom, what have we gained?
For how much weariness wisdom brings
As the world grows dreary and flat,
Since we lost out joy in the innocent things,
Like dinner and Dinty the cat.

A Dialogue Between Two Predators

it starts like this: hello

is hello that important? yes
is dinner important to you? no, i just had one

dinner must be important to you
since you have had no dinner yet, yes

can i have you for dinner? me> for food?
i am not delicious.

but you may swallow me alive...big shark!

Duet

Milestone:

All my troubles disappear,
When the dinner-bell I hear,
Over woodland, dale, and fell,
Swinging slow with solemn swell,---
The dinner-bell! the dinner-bell!

Hippy:

What can bid my heart-ache fly?
What can bid my heart-ache die?
What can all the ills dispel,
In my morbid frame that dwell?
The dinner-bell! the dinner-bell!

Both:

Hark!---along the tangled ground,
Loudly floats the pleasing sound!
Sportive Fauns to Dryads tell,
'Tis the cheerful dinner-bell!
The dinner-bell! the dinner-bell!

Point Of View

Thanksgiving dinner's sad and thankless
Christmas dinner's dark and blue
When you stop and try to see it
From the turkey's point of view.

Sunday dinner isn't sunny
Easter feasts are just bad luck
When you see it from the viewpoint
Of a chicken or a duck.

Oh how I once loved tuna salad
Pork and lobsters, lamb chops too
'Til I stopped and looked at dinner
From the dinner's point of view.

A Situationer.....

he has been writing

he is thinking and then she calls him for dinner

there is a blackout

and she lights a candle so he can see the fumes of steamed rice

the green color of braised morning glory

he is silent and she does not ask

she does not know whether he has been writing a lot

whether he is lost in the maze of his thoughts

she has cooked dinner for him

she calls his name

it is dinner time and that is the most important hour

she trusts him

he is dying

the needed light for the evening did not come

there are no stars outside the window

Innocent World

I used to live in an innocent world
I had a car and a pretty blond girlfriend
We was too young to know what we were doing
And anyway I was just fooling around
Innocent innocent innocent world
Innocent innocent innocent world
Innocent innocent innocent world
With a cute little monkey on my back
And a total disregard for the facts
Id run away and never get back
From my innocent world
There aint no reason to tell no lie
When youre young and youve got a lot of pie
Now I slink around like a killer
The things they say are just a lot of filler
In my mind, in my mind
Innocent innocent innocent world
Innocent innocent innocent world
Innocent innocent innocent world
Running, laughing in the sun
And always having lots of fun
Smoking dope and just being young
In my innocent world
Innocent innocent innocent world
Innocent innocent innocent world
Innocent innocent innocent world
With a cute little monkey on my back
And a total disregard for the facts
Id run away and never get back
From my innocent world
Innocent innocent innocent world
Innocent innocent innocent world
Innocent innocent innocent world
Innocent innocent innocent world

Her Qualms

she had dinner with me
and she talked about some priests and sinners
i think she is refined in some ways
the way she handles her fork and her forte
the rumors of the town
and the rest of those who profess innocence
pretended to pay attention

there were names and places and secret events
and trysts of some characters like they are in the play
of Tennessee Williams
and she carefully assesses the merits of their wounds
their tragedies surely are not hers

she does not eat much but her face swells
her stomach bloating and she burps like she is one kind
of a healthy baby

after the dinner
despite her expensive earrings
we in the house are unanimous in saying
she is the kind of character who must not have
another dinner with us

perhaps she must have breakfast
and we think she deserves to be
with Sophocles

Pork Chops are Fun

chop chop chop the pork squeals over dinner
with it's fatty bits and tasty bites
it marinates on a stick over hot coal
who will taste it first who will finish the bowl
Wow Pork Chops with red wine
then dinner will be divine

chop chop chop the pork is done
with ginger, wine and lots of fun
it's time to have with a salty bun
chop chop chop see it go in the oven my friends
it's dinner time lets eat it all
then lets sit together and have a ball

chop chop chop the pork tastes good
with the meat so tender it bloody weel should
sometimes on the pan sometimes as a roast
call your freinds for dinner it's a dish one can boast

chop chop chop the pork is done
sprikle a little wine to make things bright
then the meat put it on light
watch it burn and tremble with delight

chop chop chop my pork chops are done

Meet Me After Dinner

Meet me after dinner.
After all has been dished and served!
Meet me after dinner here...
If you have the nerve!

My ex-wife is a memory,
And my boyfriend has long been gone.
Only they could bring that 'freak' out of me...
That sweet freak!
Others deny and hide discreetly,
As they get their own groove on.

~Day and night long!
Not caring who says,
What they share is wrong! ~

Yeah...
You meet me after dinner.
I can picture you gnawing,
On those big beef bones!

Finish what you're doing.
I'm the one you should be screwing.
Meet me after dinner here...
And let's stop faking,
We don't desire naked love making.

Meet me after dinner,
And release those phone moans.
Your mate doesn't hear,
Or care who's heart is breaking!
Since I yearn for you,
With me alone!

Nibbling on your neck,
I want to hear you coo...
In licked whispers
Sighing,
In passionate delicious croons.
I do. Yes..I do.

Reflected in silhouette,
Our beads of sweat glistens.
Under the glow of the moon!

Meet me after dinner...
And I'll have dessert,
Perked and ready...
In the master bedroom!

Call in the midnight

I used to make my dinner thinking
About what you'd like to eat
I used to pass all night drinking
Because you didn't like of meat
I used to fall in laugh every second
Because you liked my way to smile
I used to tell histories with once upon
Just for keep you quiet for a while
I used to drink wine every saturday
Because you weren't at home
I used to smoke always in a trip away
Because I knew you weren't waiting on the phone
For a call in the midnight

Now I can't think about the dinner
Because I'm eating in my mom's house
Now I can't watch TV in soccer's winner
Because I'm not with my blouse
Now I can't smile for any stupid
Because I lost my eye's passion
Now I just keep in internet's cupid
Because I'll learn a new lesson
Now I'm coming from the rehab
And going to bed early, same in weekends
Now I just don't or can't laugh
Because I know I'll it pretends
For a call in the midnight

Facing Fear

I found myself on a dusky, dark street.
I found myself afraid of what I might meet.
But all I met was fear of the unknown.
I feared the thought that I was alone.

The fear was palpable and chilled my bones.
There were dark and sinister undertones
to what I pictured would happen to me.
What it was I couldn't foresee.

What I was doing here I realized now.
I was here to overcome fear somehow.
I looked up and saw the moon in my view,
the same old moon from the streets I knew.

With that in mind I ventured ahead
and left that place that brought me dread.
The mind can conjure up all kinds of things
and when it does, oh the terror it brings.

Dinner

i see how loneliness opens its mouth
and swallows you whole
there is this dinner
and you are
what is served to its hunger
and thirst and you do not even make a sound
when you are gone
into the deepest throat
of emptiness

there is no sound
there is only the willingness to be lost
and to be forgotten

loneliness ate you for dinner
and i will be its breakfast tomorrow morning

Out Of The Noise

Glued to the kerbstone, staring.
Frozen at the stop-sign too.
See that crazy suicide mongrel.
Hes going to try to cross that avenue.
Old dog of experience,
Ripping through the black and yellow cabs,
Dodging rickshaws and the bicycle boys.
Hes got his mind on someone elses dinner --
Over the road, round the corner, out of the noise.
Lives down in some cool, cool basement --
Sharing with a family of bouncy, ratty little guys
Works to a discipline of ritual undertakings --
Sleep, eat, and gentle exercise
Old dog of experience,
Ripping through the black and yellow cabs,
Dodging rickshaws and the bicycle boys.
Hes got his mind on someone elses dinner --
Over the road, round the corner, out of the noise.
Some towns I know, he could end up in a restaurant --
Wrong side of a table for two.
Its enough to send him running, running for cover.
Back into traffic, whats a poor dog to do?
Old mutt of experience,
Ripping through the black and yellow cabs,
Dodging rickshaws and the bicycle boys.
Hes got his mind on someone elses dinner --
Over the road, round the corner, out of the noise.
