Reunion Committee Poem

We had our class reunion at Thieman's lake.
It was fun, such fun for goodness sake.
Ate pork, ate chicken, and even chocolate cake.

Hancock brothers used a cooker that was round.
Brian Tornatta hooked us up with great sound.
Barbecue smells and good music was all around.

Rendezvous garb was designed by our own Ryan Hayes.
View the front or the back, it's awesome both ways.
No matter where it is worn, a conversation will raise.

Ron Begle had the shiniest dome and won a large purple comb.
Bob Thomas took first prize, for having hair color of a garden gnome.
The Friedman's received a road atlas, so one day, hopefully, they may roam.

Also, the Friedman's have the most grandkids, yes they do.
Their jackpot was aspirin, for the headaches that ensue.
Eight rugrats, some dressed in pink, and others in blue.

Some of our old teachers came as well.
It was great to see them, sure was swell.
Hope to meet them again, time will tell.

Michelle, Lisa, Ron, Chris, Chuck, and Chad
Were told by many this was the best we ever had.
Now we go back to our everyday lives, tired but glad.

Heritage Hills class of '81, you're the best.
The reunion committee feels that way, no jest.

Heritage Hills Class of Eighty One
Here it is, the year two thousand eleven
Thirty years, thirty years, where did it go
Saddened to learn a few are gone on to Heaven

Heritage Hills Class of Eighty One
My, oh my, where did the time fly
Wow…victories, tears, joy, and fun
Being a grandparent is love not to deny

Heritage Hills Class of Eighty One
Some led the life of the moth to the flame
Many went on to higher knowledge
Knowing happiness in a life that's tame

Heritage Hills Class of Eighty One
One time Providence dealt us a course unknown
We handled it, conquered it, survived it
Now, we bask in seeing our children grown

Yes, we are middle aged and gray
A few aches, a few pains, but no complaints

Upon Visiting A Dying Woman In The Hospital At Room 108

actually the barbecue
is more than what it appears to be
its scent of meat
and the hotness of the spice
and delicacy of
the sauce
it is the front of something
that is hidden
there is something behind its shape
and odor
i cannot speak to you about it
so i offer you that
pork barbecue
i know that hunger that
does not want to be fed
time fills that
grief
that cannot be appeased

the barbecue is cold
set aside in one of the corners
of the table
grease is solidified
no one
not one from those who see
the emaciated body
of the dying woman
wants to take
the bite

someone does
but eventually there is that
obstruction in the
throat
and so the tongue
expels that piece
of pork barbecue
again

what a waste!
yet we can never voice
this matter out

the eyes speak a lot
but you know then
they have no voices

Holiday Chocolate

Chocolate- I am smitten
You are there for me
When no one cares
Or no one dares

You fill up my life
With ice cream, pie and cake
I'd even have you on vegetables
Tis' love for goodness sake

You taste soo good in candy
And great in truffles too
I love to munch and chew away
Happy hands coated in goo

Your sugar can make me crazy
I end up very wired
Flying around the house
A rocket: chocolate fired

My taste buds and my stomach
Don't share a similar view
While taste is running delightful
The other is in a stew

At first a big round bloat

From whence my wife will surely say
'Take your stomach pills'

Class has a sense of humor. It knows that a good laugh is the best lubricant for oiling the machinery of human relations. Class never makes excuses. It takes its lumps and learns from past mistakes. Class bespeaks an aristocracy unrelated to ancestors or money. Some extremely wealthy people have no class at all, while others who are struggling to make ends meet are loaded with it. Class is real. You can't fake it. Class never tries to build itself up by tearing others down. Class is already up and need not attempt to look better by making others look worse. Everyone is comfortable with the person who has class because he is comfortable with himself. If you have class, you've got it made. If you don't have class, no matter what else you have, it won't make up for it.

Reunion: A Letter To Classmates.....[Personal; High School Friends]

Reunions are cool.....though maybe not so much in the summer.
That this year I'll miss my first one ever is a bit of a bummer.
It's at least interesting to see you all.....even you aging macho guys,
and to give or get answers to all the 'who? 'S, 'what? 'S, and 'why? 'S.

I've seen classmates since last reunion.....at least a dozen,
including a 'no-show' Genevan, .....Connie, my dear my cousin. Visiting Kit (and wife) in Rocky Mountains, for me, was a treat.
In Ohio, John fixed my wife and me, at his home, something yummy to eat.
We've had two meals at Bob & Martha's in their hilltop home (quite high) ,
and dinner out in Bangkok with Karl and wife; Urai speaks both English and Thai.

At last reunion I was retired, living back in our hometown;
now my life has changed (again) .....since then a lot has 'gone down'.
I learned to use internet which helped me find my new mate.
I got my first cellphone; with 'tech things' I'm quite late.
I've settled in wife's San Carlos home, not far from S.F. Bay and ocean.
My child's become a doctor, and gotten her medical career in motion.
I don't do Facebook or Twitter but I did join Classmates.com,
on which I put my long 'story'; in size it is a bomb.

I hope my absence won't wreck reunion for anyone this year.
One or two, in my absence, might even, to reunion, more readily steer!
Therefore I plan to send this, if I can, to my classmates' email,
but in five year's time I do plan to attend; I hope my plan doesn't fail.
Of course that's assuming there is one, and I'm still 'around',
and enough reunion committee members are in a few years found.

To all of you I send my greetings and my sincere best wishes.
I'm sorry I won't be there to help, with all the dirty dishes.

And 'thank you' to Sandy and all other reunion workers, present and past.
Good health to all my high school classmates as middle age creeps up fast!

Christmas is only 10 days away
For most of us Christmas is just like any day of life

Aspirin Damage

I get these killer headaches
I get one everyday
I wake up with a migraine
Since you ran away

Burnin' up my neck
Something is wrong with my suspension
So pass those tablets to this wreck
