Midnight Odyssey
Started my midnight odyssey
Pondering some frivolity
Fixated at the storm's sound
Nature's theater in the round
Lightning illuminates the room
Chased by a vociferous sonic boom
Hope it's not a terrible tornado
Rather see a grand rainbow
News said this was to be mediocre
But it has turned into a real soaker
Little woman hasn't moved at all
She'll sleep through the squall
Rain is pelting the window
Adjust this new pillow
Just want to go to sleep
Will the Angel of Death reap?
Tomorrow will be here too soon
Hope we won't need a pontoon
Think I'm sleepy at long last
Lousy weather forecast

Kabul Weather Forecast
Weather Forecast in Kabul.
Rain in Kabul, the weather woman on TV said.
and I wondered if that was a good or bad thing.
Slippery roads and confused drones, what do
I know? Perhaps the rain is just what the poppy
fields need right now. Weather forecast on T. V
is pure entertainment, all respectable channels
have a person with a map who looks confident
when trying to predict the tomorrow. Danish
bomber pilots listen to weather forecast too,
will there be sun over Libya? Kaddafi hasn’t any
more planes left, we are now bombing his tanks.
No-fly –zone? I didn’t know tanks could fly. Rain
in Chad, that’s sad, they like Kaddafi he has been
helpful to this poor country. Never mind all that
he’s a despot and so says all of us.

Cars Hiss By My Window
The cars hiss by my window
Like the waves down on the beach
The cars hiss by my window
Like the waves down on the beach
I got this girl beside me
But shes out of reach
Headlight through my window
Shinin on the wall
Headlight through my window
Shinin on the wall
Cant hear my baby
Though I called and called
Yeah, right, woo!
Windows started tremblin
With a sonic boom
Windows started tremblin
With a sonic boom, boom
A cold girlll kill you
In a darkened room
Yeah, woo, ride, ride on, weooooo!
Wawa, eooo!, oooo, owa, owaaa!
Wa, waaaaea!, ooo, wa, wa, wa, wa, waa!, uh-huh

I Hope It Rains...
I Hope it Rains…
I Hope it Thunders with Lightning
I Hope The Wind Kicks-Up, ‘til its Frightening
I Hope There’s a Hurricane Sighting…
‘Cause, that’s How I Feel, Right Now
‘Cause You’re Leaving Me Anyhow
After All the Love I Gave to You…
… Now, I can’t even Talk to You
… I Hope It Rains…
I Hope it Snows…
I Hope an Ice-Berg - Breaks Your Back at the Door
I Hope a Blizzard - Buries You… Ice-Age-Slow
I Hope an Avalanche ‘Catch ya’, as You Go…
‘Cause, that’s How I Feel, Right Now
‘Cause You’re Leaving Me Anyhow
After All The Love I Gave to You…
Now, I can’t even Reason with You
… I Hope It Snows…
… This is The Fury, of a Woman Scorned
… if I had my way… You’d Never Been Born!
… I Hope It Storms…
I Hope it Hails…
I Hope it Hits You in the Head and Beats You Down
I Hope it Crushes Your Heart and Dreams – All Around!
I Hope it Knocks Your Suitcase and Soul, to the Ground
… Honey … I Hope You Never Make it to Town…
‘Cause that’s How I Feel, Right Now
‘Cause You’re Leaving Me Anyhow
After All The Love I Gave to You…
Now, I can’t even Hold Onto You
… Look – Here Comes The Rain
… Here Comes The Rain…
I Hope The Clouds – Start Fighting
I Hope the Air – Starts Biting
I Hope You’re in a Tornado and It Starts Tightening
… I Hope it Floods Out There – ‘til You Look Like A Viking!

Afraid To Sleep
We slept in this room together but now youre gone
And its so quiet I turn the tv on
We lived in this room together we painted the walls
Now time doesnt stand still
It crawls
And Im afraid to sleep
Cuz if I do I dream of you
And dreams are always deep
On the pillow where I weep
I never realized how much I was in love with you
Until you started sleeping with someone new
Last night I dreamed again and you were there
You kissed my face you touched my hair
And Im afraid to sleep
Cuz if I do I dream of you
And dreams are always deep
On the pillow where I weep
Lying alone in the darkness with a memory in my head
Theres a big hole where my heart is
And a lonely feeling rollin round my bed
And Im afraid to sleep
Cuz if I do I dream of you
Im afraid to sleep
Cuz if I do I dream of you
And dreams are always deep
On the pillow where I weep
On the pillow where I weep
Im afraid to sleep.

The Sun chased the Moon
The wild flowers bloom, the first snow melts,
The rain stops, the rainbow fades.
While the Sun chased the Moon...
The first fish swam, the first bird flew,
The first mammal ran, the first Man stand.
While the Sun chased the Moon...
Buildings scraped the sky, wheels rule the streets,
Man became oblivious to everything except what they need.
Still the Sun chased the Moon...
The Earth chokes, the Air appalls,
The Water tainted, the Sky weeps.
Still the Sun chased the Moon...
Love found, love lost,
In a vicious cycle of tears and joy.
Still the Sun chased the Moon...
Hopes and dreams piled up high,
With one kick all comes tumbling-by.
Still the Sun chased the Moon...
Civilizations fall, Men slaughtered,
Wars rage on as if they'd never stop
Still the Sun chased the Moon...
A millenia the chase lasted,
Another millenia it'll go on.
Darkness falls, the Moon comes out
Rest assured the Sun is not far behind.
The Day may seem at its worst,
The Night may seem it could never get better.
Fear not, weep not.
As long as the Sun chases the Moon, there is hope.
A Hope for a new Day,
Hope for a new beginning.
The winds of loneliness howls in your chest
The turbulence of the storm rages on...
Alas, this is how we're meant to be,
The pain will never quite go away.
There will always be Hope,
Just beyond the hills, just beyond the valleys,
As long as...
The Sun chases the Moon.

Sleep, Sleep, My Little One
Sleep, sleep, my little one
‘Tis better in this world of us
To sleep the sleep of the innocents
Than sleep the sleep of the just:
At least you’ll have a greater chance
To avoid long knives and plots
And bloody rendezvous.
For in this world, this world of us
The just is alien and his sleep
Most dangerous negligence:
Long knives will wait at corners round
And plots and darts abound
For all the just around.
For in this world, this world of us,
The sleep of innocents is better than
The sleep of all the just, my little one.
Sleep, sleep, my little one
And let outside the dark wind neigh
And rain and chill make fear
And the sea’s waves make storm and rage
And evil win
And the good disappear
And do not open your eyes sweet one
Before night and storm have passed away.

Eye Of The Storm
In the eye of the storm
where the rain clouds let up
past to my back
hope the future clears up
Praying for better days
keep it real in better ways
hope calm weather stays
Future in my eyes
a life when no one dies
and great mind collides
you got to love these time
where the grand ma and grand child sits
and everybody eats
as they reminisces
on the good old days

An Uneasy Sleep
The lightning flashed outside the window
the thunder clapped shaking everything
I had the eerie feeling of something watching me.
The lightning forced shadows to dance around the room,
as I got ready to pull the covers over my head,
my eyes searched for movement
of which I was unaware of
my heart pounded against my chest
as the storm raged without abate.
There was a tapping at the window;
I was not brave enough to look
to see if it was a branch or a face wanting me.
I slipped under the covers
going down as far as I could go,
something moved around the floor,
the creaks and thumps told me so.
I wanted to pull the covers back
and have a little peek,
but I thought better of it and tried to go to sleep.
I heard the door yawn and the hinges creak
the ghost of old McNair must be coming
for me when I fell asleep.
I heard more movements
and voices whispering low
and my heart-started pound more.
I laid silent and still hoping
that whatever it was
wouldn’t think I was in bed.
Something sat on the edge of the bed;
it was coming to get me for sure.
Then something poked around
to see if I was there.
I could feel it getting closer and closer,
I held my breath tying mot to scream,
and then it touched me and I let out a yell.
I threw back to the covers
and the room was bathed in soft warm candlelight.
The lightning outside still flashed,
a pair of smiling faces looked down at me.
I looked up at them want to know
just what was going on.
“I think the fever has broken now.
He should be a lot better in the, morning.
My advice is that you stay with him a while,
at least until he falls asleep.”
My mother nodded, and then smiled at me.
“Now you just lie down again
and try and get some sleep.
I’ll be sitting here in case you need me.”
I rested back against the pillow;
my fears were now at rest.
I closed my eyes
and sleep captured me immediately.

My angel, I love to watch you sleep........
When the night comes then your voice calm down
When the moon begin to sail in the sky
then your eyes are closing down to sleep
You fall asleep while dim light illuminates your room
I love to watch you sleep my little girl
You sleep like a little angel within your dreams
Your hair falls both sides of your face and
your hands folded in to the blanket
Your pillows and bunnies are speard around you
You breath soft and low while your innocent heart
beat slowly to the merry tune
I love to watch you sleep my little baby
When I want to kiss you to say good night in your sleep
then you toss your head and stretch your little body
and turn around sleep again while holding your pillow
God brought you to me and given you as his gift
and today you are the greatest treasure in my life
Someone to laugh and dance and sing in my home
I love to watch you sleep my angel

Work, Sleep, Work, Sleep, Work
Work, sleep, work, sleep,
Work, sleep, work, sleep,
Work, sleep, work, sleep,
Work:
Work, sleep, work, sleep,
Work, sleep, work, sleep,
Work, sleep, work, sleep,
Work.
Oh free me please with gentle ease
From work, sleep, work, sleep, work!
This odium, pounding tedium
Of my work, sleep, work, sleep, work.
Just whisk me off to lands afar
From work, sleep, work, sleep, work -
That grinding train of rhythmic pain
Called ‘Work, sleep, work, sleep, work.’
Poor neural circuits fizzle and pop
In work, sleep, work, sleep, work,
In trying to make some sense of all this
Work, sleep, work, sleep, work.
But Hark! I see a golden gleam -
A saving spirit of hope:
‘You’re fired! ’ He screams. What news to bear,
This wondrous hangman’s rope!
So now I’m free, released from all this
Work, sleep, work, sleep, work -
Eternal peace and rest for me, no
Work, sleep, work, sleep, work.

0339: 21 Keywords To A Life
War under a summer sun
and the soldier’s life now a sleep, beautiful
in, we may hope, the angel kiss
of death, friend of heroic human nature.
We who live on may count the loss: girl,
home and love, hope and music,
sex; rain; all the school
of life. He, not.

Something About The Weather
Dear sister, you have no idea
About the weather here
The earth is dry
We haven't seen any rain
For the past few years
And hunger is striking.
Looking out through the window
Father is trying to forecast the weather
And he has been saying something
But no one heard what the exact words are
For he's talking to no one, but himself.
Oh! how terrible things are here
The weather is bad, so bad that
I am beginning to believe what father has said.
'This is not weather, but a curse laid upon us.'

Battle of Will & Exhaustion, Mother & Child
Two knights surrounded by dinosaurs
are cornered in the kitchen--all threat and bluster.
Action figures always act
even as night tries to soothe them under.
I am the one who laid a nervous hand
on a child's exhausted threat and bluster.
The bunk bed creaks as the story settles,
as night's cool hand tries to soothe us. Under
a Seussian drone I am thinking, anxious,
about someone with a nervous hand.
Will he sleep? Will he sleep? When will he sleep?
The bunk bed creaks as the shipboard settles.
What is the myth of a woman alone
who's thinking through Seuss? Her thoughts are drones
serving a terrible queen of their own.
Can she sleep? Will she sleep? When will she sleep?
The toilet's crystalline drip and the ghosts
of the walls are a myth. And this woman, alone,
is a captain steering too close to the rocks
where the ocean is serving a terrible queen.
Up on the cliff of a Friday midnight
the toilet's crystalline drip and the ghost-
ly snore of the sleepy one riding his dragons
can steer this sad captain away from her rocks.
"Rock me to sleep," cries the wild girl at twenty
up on the cliff with a young man at midnight.
Far below, waves from the sea of Alaska
snore back and forth filled with moon's breath and dragon.
Up on the cliff of a Friday's midnight,
rock me to sleep with the sound that the fridge makes.
Warmth of a tub, hole of a drain.
Memories sleep in the seas of Alaska.
Action figures always act
upon the cliff of a Friday's midnight.
Warmth of a bird's heart. Chill of a stone.
Two knights surrendered. The dinos snore.

Rain On The Window
Round about midnight
I feel the chill closin in
Living my stage fright
I need the sun to begin - tomorrow
Thinking bout my life
And all the changes she made
And when she went running out
All the colors fade - to midnight
What a bad week Ive had
Theres rain on the window
What a bad week Im sad
Theres rain on my window
Will I be staying
Or am I moving in
Am I still standing
Ive gotta wait - shes choosing
* what a bad week Ive had
Theres rain on the window
What a bad week Im sad
Theres rain on the window
When the sun comes up
It dries that rain on the window
When the sun comes up
It dries that rain on the window
When the sun comes up
It dries that rain on the window
Repeat *

There You Are
I was counting down minutes.
I was wishin on the stars.
I was prayin for a sign,
And tryin to beat the odds.
I was dreamin of you,
Love before I saw your face.
And there you were,
Waitin for that day.
Then you reached through the hurricane,
When youm baby you called me name.
You broke through the storm,
And you turned back the night.
Baby you are the fire,
Burnin the midnight sky,
And your love,
Keeps taking me higher.
Just when all hope has gone,
Where the hero belongs...
There you were.
Must have broken into heaven,
Just to roll back the clouds.
Were you on a mission.
Were you seekin me out.
Was I that one in a million.
Was I that one sacred kiss,
That you couldnt chance,
You just couldnt miss.
Then you whispers through the silent tears,
When you swept away all my fears.
You broke through the storm,
And you turned back the night.
Baby you are the fire,
Burnin the midnight sky,
And your love,
Keeps taking me higher.
Just when all hope has gone,
Where the hero belongs...
There you were.
Standin in the middle of nowhere,
With your arms wide open and you,
You were the reason when there was no reason.
In my life
Youre the reason in my life.
You broke through the storm,
And you turned back the night.
Baby you are the fire,
Burnin the midnight sky,
And your love,
Keeps taking me higher.
Just when all hope has gone,
Where the hero belongs...
There you were.
You broke through the storm,
And you turned back the night.
Baby you are the fire,
Burnin the midnight sky,
And your love,
Keeps taking me higher.
Just when all hope has gone,
Where the hero belongs...
There you were.
Like the light in the eye of the storm,
Tellin me not to cry anymore.
Where I watched my whole world fall apart,
Shinin through like on angel from afar
You broke through the storm,
And you turned back the night.
Baby you are the fire,
Burnin the midnight sky,
And your love,
Keeps taking me higher.
Just when all hope has gone,
Where the hero belongs...
There you were.

Not Quite Sonic
Not yet sonic
But I'd like to reach the point
Where I can say
Yes I am
But it always seems to be
About sensibilities
And not who's listening
No I'm not quite sonic
What's real in the art school
What's real in the white room
This yet to tell my conscience
Who to trust my thoughts with
Or who to love
You're oh so sonic
So and so fantastically boring
You're a fashion whore
Being real is one thing
Being nothing is something
But at this point
There's something wrong
Chemically expensive hair
Money that we wear
Will get us what?
It kinda makes you think
Only animals
Are friends... surreal friends
Truly sonic
The sights
They're embryonic
See what you want
I'm not quite sonic
The sounds
They're quadraphonic
Semi-moronic
Not quite sonic

I go to sleep with hope to wake;

I woo women with hope to win.

All You Want
I'd like to watch you sleep at night
to hear you breathe by my side
And though sleep leaves me behind
there's nowhere I'd rather be
And now our bed is oh so cold
my hands feel empty
no one to hold
I can sleep what side I want
It's not the same with you gone
Oh if you'd come home
I'll let you know that
All you want
Is right here in this room
All you need
Is sitting here with you
All you want
It's been three years
One night apart
but in that night you tore my heart
If only you had slept alone
If those seeds had not been sown
Oh you could come home and you would know that
All you want
Is right here in this room
All you need
Is sitting here with you
All you want
I hear your key turning in the door
I won't be hearing that sound anymore
And you and your sin
can leave the way you just came in
send my regards to her
I hope you've found that
All you want
Is right there in that room
All you need
Is sitting there with you
All you want
I'd like to watch you sleep at night
to hear you breathe by my side

He Giveth His Beloved Sleep
The long day passes with its load of sorrow:
In slumber deep
I lay me down to rest until tomorrow,
Thank God for sleep.
Thank God for all respite from weary toiling,
From cares that creep
Across our lives like evil shadows, spoiling
God's kindly sleep.
We plough and sow, and, as the hours grow later,
We strive to reap,
And build our barns, and hope to build them greater
Before we sleep.
We toil and strain and strive with one another
In hopes to heap
Some greater share of profit than our brother
Before we sleep.
What will it profit that with tears or laughter
Our watch we keep?
Beyond it all there lies the Great Hereafter!
Thank God for sleep!
For, at the last, beseeching Christ to save us
We turn with deep
Heartfelt thanksgiving unto God, who gave us
The Gift of Sleep.
