Charles Baudelaire

Even When She Walks

Even when she walks she seems to dance!
Her garments writhe and glisten like long snakes
obedient to the rhythm of the wands
by which a fakir wakens them to grace.

Like both the desert and the desert sky
insensible to human suffering,
and like the ocean’s endless labyrinth
she shows her body with indifference.

Precious minerals are her polished eyes,
and in her strange symbolic nature
angel and sphinx unite,
where diamonds, gold, and steel dissolve into one light,
shining forever, useless as a star,
the sterile woman’s icy majesty.

Avec ses vêtements ondoyants et nacrés (With Waving Opalescense In Her Gown)

With Her Pearly, Undulating Dresses

With her pearly, undulating dresses,
Even when she's walking, she seems to be dancing
Like those long snakes which the holy fakirs
Set swaying in cadence on the end of their staffs.

Like the dull sand and the blue of deserts,
Both of them unfeeling toward human suffering,
Like the long web of the ocean's billows,
She unfurls herself with unconcern.

Her glossy eyes are made of charming minerals
And in that nature, symbolic and strange,
Where pure angel is united with ancient sphinx,

Where everything is gold, steel, light and diamonds,
There glitters forever, like a useless star,
The frigid majesty of the sterile woman.

— Translated by William Aggeler

With Waving Opalescence in Her Gown

With waving opalescence in her gown,
Even when she walks along, you think she's dancing.
Like those long snakes which charmers, while entrancing,
Wave with their wands, in cadence, up and down.

Like the sad sands of deserts and their skies,
By human sufferings untouched and free,
Or like the surfy curtains of the sea,
She flaunts a cold indifference. Her eyes

Are made of charming minerals well-burnished.
Her nature, both by sphynx and angel furnished,
Is old, intact, symbolic, and bizarre:

She seems, made all of gems, steel, light, and gold,
In barrenness, majestic, hard, and cold,
To blaze forever, like a useless star.

— Translated by Roy Campbell

Avec ses vêtements ondoyants et nacrés

with all her undulant pearly draperies,
she moves in measures lovelier than a dance,
as in the fakirs' Indian sorceries
tall cobras 'neath a moving rod advance

like drear Sahara's sand or azure skies,
insentient both to human suffering,
like the long lacy nets the surges bring,
her slow indifferent length she amplifies.

her eyes are made from agates polished bright,
and in that strange symbolic soul which links
the inviolate angel and the fabled sphynx,

where all is gold, steel, diamonds and light,
glitters forever, starlike, far, inhuman,
the regal coldness of the sterile woman.

— Translated by Lewis Piaget Shanks

Sonnet

With her dresses undulating, pearly,
Even walking one would think her dancing,
Like those long serpents which holy charmers
Move in harmony at the tips of their batons.

Like the dull sand and the blue of deserts,
Unmoved alike by human pain,
Like the long fabric of the swell of seas,
She unfolds herself with indifference.

Her polished eyes are of delicious metals,
And in this strange, symbolic nature
Where virgin angel meets with ancient sphinx,

Where all is only gold and steel and light and diamonds,
There shines for ever, like a useless star,
The cold majesty of the sterile woman.

Desert Inn

I never meet her in the city
But believe me she is pretty
Six-hundred-fifty miles away
I meet my angel in the desert
In the desert I can meet her
Oh in the desert heat she makes me play
Im not trying to be clever
Im not getting there forever
Only flying with the wind and thee
Im not trying to be late
Just becoming a slave
Come on angel, play the game
Im not trying to be clever
Im not getting there forever
Wont fight with the window on me
Im not trying to be late
Just becoming a slave
Come on angel, play the game
Shes never in the city
But the woman shes pretty
Six-hundred-fifty miles away
I meet my angel in the desert
In the desert I can meet her
In the desert heat she makes me pray
There is a race in your face

I Wish Upon A Star

tonight
i am not that really lonely
as you think
i am
or as i used to be
one
always looking for the stars
the Phoenix
and the Suffix

but tonight
and for so many nights
when you were not with me
i have learned
a lot of lessons from the roof

like the star
i am distant
i am shining
i am indifferent

like the star
i am not a guide for someone's fate
i am a lie
a sophistry of the universe

like a star
i glisten not borrowing any light
from the sun or the moon

like a star i may be alone
but look at me carefully if by chance you are in the desert with
somebody

i am still lovely
i do not rain and i keep the silence of such
beauty

High Stakes for Friend Thad

The sun scorched desert lies in wait.
Implacable but patiently
Its moving contours undulate
moving swiftly but silently.

There are no landmarks men can see
to know exactly where they are
On every side hostility
the desert’s not particular.

They have no way to navigate
across the ever changing sea
of endless dusty real estate
which alters imperceptibly.

The sunlit slopes and shadows change
more quickly than men think they can
The desert’s free to rearrange
the landscape and so baffle man
.
That he despairs surrenders to
the tactics that he cannot fight.
Then as so many travellers do
is lost forever to men’s sight.

Implacable hostility
the desert show the human race
and also its ability.
To erase men and leave no trace.

Though sometimes sun bleached bones appear
by constant friction polished clean
Then just as quickly disappear
almost as if they’d never been.

The sun scorched desert lies in wait
today as it has always done
For foolish men to challenge fate.
Though very seldom men have won.

Arabian Star (feat. Na Na) (live At Dreamland)

That was the day when I first saw the light
I know that I should have put up a fight
Not since the day have I looked in the eyes
Where you could see the Arabian skies
How can it be that the desert provide
Something so precious you'd think that I lied
Wherever you are I remember you still
Il el el el el bitti akill
I saw the Arabian star
Brightest of them all
I wish that we could do it all again
I saw the Arabian star
Still I wonder where you are
Been on this journey for so many years
Thought that I'd seen it all, faced all my fears
Nothing prepared me for what I've been throught
All is compared with memories of you
How can it be that the desert provide
Something so precious you'd think that I lied
Wherever you are I remember you still
Il el el el el bitti akill
I saw the Arabian star
Brightest of them all
I wish that we could do it all again
I saw the Arabian star
Still I wonder where you are

Diamonds Are 4 Eva

Diamonds are 4 ever, they are all I need to please me
They can stimulate and tease me
The wont leave in the night, Ive no fear that they might desert me...
Diamonds are forever, hold one up and then caress it
Touch it stroke it and undress it
I can see every part, nothing hides in the heart
To hurt me
I dont need love, for what good will love do me?
Diamonds never lie to me
For when loves gone, they luster on
they luster on...
Diamonds are forever, sparkling round my little finger
Unlike girls the diamonds linger
Girls are mere mortals who are not worth going to your grave for
I dont need love, for what good will love do me?
Diamonds never lie to me
For when loves gone, they luster on
Diamonds are forever, forever, forever, forever
And ever...

desert Woman

She is born with the
silent language of desert and winds
engraved in her soul and
every night stairing towards the sky
fighting with her own guesses
which she made to catch the star
her beloved was following
to reach his destination
she sends her wishpers
along with tender kisses
placing on the wings of wind
believing the wind would surely
travel far and far away
to transfer her kisses
with her passionate message of
longingness to her beloved
she lives in fire of
endless waiting moments
with flood of stroms in her eyes
and suffers moments of blazing coals
as horrible pain
with a desperate desire to
rest in his strong arms forever
she try's to gather dews of her
evaporating deep breaths
and create imaginary of being
beside him peeping in his eyes
she never know
her wait would end or not
But she know one thing
she is a desert woman
and with flux of stone body
she would be waiting till her last breath....

Beautiful Woman!

Beautiful like fresh flower,
Beautiful with rainbows in eyes,
Beautiful with shyness and smile,
beautiful woman!

Beautiful are the star like eyes
Deeper than deepest ocean,
Ocean of feelings and love,
Beautiful is that motherly heart!

Beautiful woman thy beauty is thy compassion,
Thy beauty is in patience and knowledge,
Thy beauty lies in flowerless lips with precious smile,

Beautiful woman, most abstract beauty,
Not that beauty felt by eyes
Nor that skin or hair,
Not that grace or style, beautiful woman,
you are the beauty!

Beautiful woman!
thy beauty shines
Moon in star studded sky,
Thy beauty flashes with every turn of your neck to the call of child,
like plant swing with
perfumed flower in the garden

When that beauty of heart beautifully expressed!
Where her beauty lies,
Is it in her body or mind,
Or is it in her heart soft and kind?
Who wants to get stick or bind,
That's why women race fast leaving wondering men behind!

Desert Plains

Full moon is rising
The sky is black
I need your call Im coming back
The road is straight cast
Winds in my eyes
The engine roars between my thighs
From desert plains I bring you love
From desert plains I bring you love
Wild mountain thunder
Echoes my quest
My body aches but Ill not rest
Quartz light to guide me
Till sunrise leads
My passion screams, my heart it bleeds
From desert plains I bring you love
From desert plains I bring you love
Then in the distance
I see you stand
On the horizon you raise your hand
In burning rubber
I end my quest
You fall into my arms at last
From desert plains I bring you love
From desert plains I bring you love

For The Love Of A Woman

No one could say
How she caught my eyes
To this day,
I dont know why
Oh well her eyes
So much like diamonds,
And her heart
So much like gold
I knew that id
Win her in time,
When I felt her heart
Beat close to mine
And once in her arms,
Then I knew anything I would do,
Just for the love of a woman,
Just for the love of a woman
I prayed that Id never have to walk alone
Id have a love of my own
I thank my stars,
I found an angel
Never again
Will I walk alone
She brought a light
Into my heart,
Like the brightest star,
Thats ever shone
Money and gold
To a king,
When youre alone,
Dont mean a thing
And once in her arms
Then I know anything I would do,
Just for the love of a woman,
Just for the love of a woman,
I prayed that Id never have to walk alone.
Now I have a love of my own
I could paint a masterpiece,
I could walk through fire
I could shout it from the roof,
From the smallest flame to a fire this love has grown,
Just for the love of a woman,
Money and gold mean nothing
Never again will I have to walk alone,
Now I have a love of my own
Love of my own, love of my own
I cant face this world all alone

Eyes Of Silver

Tom johnston
Eyes of silver hungry and aware
Eyes of silver, your mystic love I share
cause Im hungry baby
For the love you give away
Kick out all that stupid pride
Thats standin in my way
Inside my loving eyes are open wide
Eyes of silver, on which I shall rely
Diamonds are forever, and gold can make you lie
But your eyes of silver shine on, shine on
Blades of steel have helped a man to conquer all
Rubies by the hundreds fill the taj mahal
Eyes of silver, you tell me what I need
To bring this cold and lonely man
Down to his bended knees
Inside my lovin arms are open wide
For you eyes of silver
On which I shall rely
Diamonds and gold make you lie, lie, lie
But your eyes of silver, they shine on, shine on
Eyes of silver, baby, shine on, shine on
Baby, shining, yeah yeah, yeah, baby shining

Forever In Your Eyes

Eyes like fire - Burn desire
As we dance away into the night

This attraction - Fuels a passion
That's just too strong for us to try and fight

Each moment we're together
I just never want to end
'Cause I could never feel this way again

'Cause nothing else had ever felt so right
To feel your body lying next to me
As the rhythm of your heart beats through me
All through the night
I never thought I'd ever realize
A long that feels so close to paradise
Boy I could spend my whole life living
Forever in our eyes

Lips so tender - I surrender
Everything I am is yours alone

When you tough me - All that I see
Fire feeling that my heart has never known

You're all I ever dreamed of
you7re my every fantasy
Whoever thought on angel could bring heaven here to me

'Cause nothing else had ever felt so right
To feel your body lying next to me
As the rhythm of your heart beats through me
All through the night
I never thought I'd ever realize
A long that feels so close to paradise
Boy I could spend my whole life living
Forever in our eyes

You're the one my heart beats for
You're my everything and more
It's a burnin' love I can't seem to ignore
All the things I feel inside
Are too strong for me to hide (baby)
I need you by my side
'Cause I could live forever in your eyes

'Cause nothing else had ever felt so right
To feel your body lying next to me
As the rhythm of your heart beats through me
All through the night
I never thought I'd ever realize
A long that feels so close to paradise
Boy I could spend my whole life living
Forever in our eyes

The Unforgiving

Torrid sun burns the unforgiving
Way past the Roman mask
Down the corridor of idols
Justice without mercy

Deep into the unconscious antiquity
Worship at the feet of the sword
The alter of hatred and vendetta
Sphinx faces in the strange desert

Sire your forbidden fruit
Delight in the arms of envy
Chivalry with dark knights
They guard your soul from salvation

Labyrinth of lust covers vengeance
Volcano filled with contempt
Break the yoke of prodigal gold
Hatred lodges into the heart

Night with out stars
Day without sun
Leave the earth to war
Time heals not the unforgiving

A Friend, A Woman, A Widow, The Old One

where have we gone
on those years that dance in the music
of hushes and whispers?

those merry widows
painted their faces
as they grow into
the folds of their old age

she is one of those
who dreamed
from nipa huts to the
ice castles of her
fantasies

she thought she can
stay forever
like that... forever

but no woman stays a woman
throughout her journey
she assumes some shapes
to survive
some have turned into camels
in the arid desert
some polar bears bear the earmark
of womanhood in their cold
noses

her body knows when
the right time is right there in her mind
but there is one thing that makes the sound
of her permanence...

that she must always be free to be
...forever

The Hourglass Waltz

I long to waltz with you once more
On wings of song and light
Our eyes sang a lullaby of love
And in our hearts everlasting
Was our waltz to moon and star above
We bowed to our last dance
Your hand on the hourglass
And to sand and star we pass in Love's immortal grace
As once in laughter, love and life
We embraced
Across endless sand, star and sea I long for you tonight
To waltz love's melody
On moon and star, once more

Of A Virgin Born

Have you seen the
Star of wonder
Star of grace
Star by which
The stars themselves
All navigate?

Have you sensed the
Star behind all sight
Reaching out
Through all the senses
Calling you in
Silent song?

Is this the
Star that brought me here
The light behind my eyes
The store of shining words
Before the living thoughts
Are spoken?

Have you seen the
Star of wonder
Star of grace
Star that lights
The life behind
Each face?

Write About The Desert Rain

the lonely man walks
on the sands of the desert
one evening and whistles
to the dying sun

and then as the moon
comes out
from where the sun
just left

he stands still
and looks for the missing stars
the desert rain
has come and his eyes
are teary
and blurred.

Shining Star II

Shining Star the light of my life
your that one star, I wish upon every night
Everyday, hour, min, sec. that goes by
I think about my Shining Star
wishing it was here next to me
Hoping I would see my Shining Star soon
Holding me and never letting go
Reminiscing on how we met
something that I'll never forget.
You are my guiding light I don't want to let go of
Oh Shining Star how much joy you
bring to this lonely heart
May I ask Shining Star,
Do You Love Me the way I Love You?
We'll see Shining Star
if you really do...
But once again my Shining Star
I would say,
You are my one wish
my one love
my one and only
Shining Star
