Life and Love at Agathon's Symposium

Who among us knows the true origin of love?

Do we love to be whole, again?

Do we strive for loves embrace in hopes of once again becoming children of the Sun? or Earth? Or Moon?

Do we wish to, once again, bounce around the world as not two - but one?

Like in Aristophanes' story of the origin of love?

Can we come to understand that which dictates our earthly desires, here, in the palace of the poet?

What of love Socrates? What wisdom did Diotima entrust you with?

You - who would take you tale of resource and poverty to your grave, for you truly believed that with love - comes deceit.

What conviction - poor, lonely Socrates

In death, be we whole, or wise, or happy,
we allow the mark of our love to carry our name into immortality
Just as love - is immortal

Bitter Blow of Love

Love! you dealt a bitter blow –
You lay me cross the mortal plains,
Bedewed, bedimmed amongst a show
Of tearful clouds: eternal rains
To weep at my enduring foe

Of harsh reality – searing pains of
Destiny: dependable propensity
To fool myself repeatedly
That I could ever triumph over love!

Her...

I can never get my mind off her,
I wonder if she'd mind if i'd,
make her my own,
and never let her go,
hug her tight,
treat her right,
act all polite,
take her on a date,
make sure i'm never late,
kiss her on her lips,
talk about our kids,
Make her feel like princess,
living in a castle,
hope that is not too much hassle,
But i am so blessed,
hope i can be the best,
hold you tight,
have your BR3A$t,
on my chest,
pass the test,
NOW YOUR MINE!

I Love Me Some Him

I love me some him
I'll never love this way again
I love me some you
Another man will never do

I love me some him
I'll never love this way again
I love me some you
Another man will never do

All those days and lonely nights
Have all gone away
I never thought the day would come
When we'd more than friends
You made me smile when I was down
You turn my world around
The way you give me love feel so right

You took the ease off my mind
And put it behind
You were there for all my needs
So baby - stay

I love me some him
I'll never love this way again
I love me some you
Another man will never do

I love me some him
I'll never love this way again
I love me some you
Another man will never do

Just like a dream come true
I wished for you
I have never been so happy 'bout love so new
You opened my heart to a brand new start
My love's there wherever you are
I won't let no one take you away

You took the ease off my mind
And put it behind
You where there for all my needs - yes

I love me some him
I'll never love this way again
I love me some you
Another man will never do

'Cause you came along
And changed my life
Told me things would be all right
And they were thanks to you
And now I have the strength to carry on
In my heart you have a home
And I never want to be alone
I love me..

I love me some him
I'll never love this way again
I love me some you
Another man will never do

I love me some him
I'll never love this way again
I love me some you
Another man will never do

See What Love Can Do

By jerry lynn williams
When your world, it starts to fall apart
Look deep within, within your lonely heart.
Do your best my friend, try and understand
Its only you, pull yourself through.
When you tell your story,
Make sure your storys right;
Every little single word is true.
See what love can do.
See what love can do.
When the words are in the music, the music is the song.
The world would be so happy, if wed all just get along.
I want to see it, a smile on every face.
So when we tell our story,
Make sure that its right
And every single word is true.
See what love can do.
See what love can do.
So when you tell your story, honey
Make sure that its right.
I finally proved the message true.
I see what love can do.
See what love can do.
See what love can do.
See what love can do.
When we sing the story
Make sure your song is right.
Finally proved the message true.
See what love can do.
Oh, see what love can do.
See what love can do.
See what love can do.
See what love can do.
See what love can do.

Give Love To The Children

Give Love to the children Children need love everyday
Give love to the children Guide them on their way
Love's like a burning flame consumes all that stands in the way

Love is the only power on earth to take all the hatred away
GIVE LOVE TO THE CHILDREN set the children free
To make their own decisions then they will clearly see
Love is the sun the moon and the stars love is a golden ring

Love is the one thing the whole world desires be it beggar or king
GIVE LOVE TO THE CHILDREN youth has not long to stay
Love is a long term investment the best you will find any day

Love like the rising sun takes all the darkness away
Our children will tell their children and their childrens children will say
Give love to the children they are our crock of gold
and if perchance they ever stray they will come back to the fold

Give love to the children the children of today
Give love to the children and love will come to stay.

Ever Pure Is Love!

Love is that great feeling,
no one can deny,
to love is thrilling,
to be loved is more pleasing,
living with heart ever loving,
only wisdom of self remain ever shining!

Every love is felt mortal in company of desires,
Just as immortal self felt mortal,
In company of mortal things,
river that flood during rain,
and drain in summer,
Surely dry some day,
But the river that keeps on flowing full,
Ever pure has origin in melting snow of icy mountains,
Love having origin in heart where snow heap of pure Love melts,
Never can dry,
Never be impure,
Unless polluted by human desires, selfish motives!

When body felt light,
filling more energy in wings,
wisdom gained by experience,
courage in heart make faith
strong,
Look for the Truth alone,
one can soar high, see deep into space to see the
Sun never sets,
the ever flowing river of life as
whole

Forsaking My Love

I hate you
I wish to tear you away from me
This tumor that clings to my chest
The thing that makes me ache
That haunts my dreams
And tears at my desires
You have brought me only pain
My untamed heart
That beast that gnaws at my soul
That pitifully whines
Bringing my mind into unwanted pain
Yet how can I blame you
How can I chastise you when I listen intently to your pleas
Why should I punish you for what my eyes feed upon
How can I blame my eyes for falling upon her
She who brings light to the eternal darkness of my soul
She whose eyes bring me to subjection
Whose smile leaves me in awe
How can I blame you when my ears are met with her laughter
How they submerge into her song
How they quiver at her voice
Why should I punish you for inclining my soul
Tempting it with the one sense that has been forsaken by her
How could I look over the thought of the brushing of lips
The touching of hands
The binding of the soul, mind, and body
O you wretched heart
What am I to do with this constant companion
How could I tear you away
When she is the cause of my agony
Or rather
It is the lack of her which brings me sorrow
It is the need for her that leaves my heart in pain
Yet she is not mine
She was never mine
She will never be mine
O my poor heart
How can I make you see reason
When all you do is show me the truth

Socrates Ghost Must Haunt Me Now

Socrates ghost must haunt me now,
Notorious death has let him go,
He comes to me with a clumsy bow,
Saying in his disused voice,
That I do not know I do not know,
The mechanical whims of appetite
Are all that I have of conscious choice,
The butterfly caged in eclectic light
Is my only day in the world's great night,
Love is not love, it is a child
Sucking his thumb and biting his lip,
But grasp it all, there may be more!
From the topless sky to the bottomless floor
With the heavy head and the fingertip:
All is not blind, obscene, and poor.
Socrates stands by me stockstill,
Teaching hope to my flickering will,
Pointing to the sky's inexorable blue
---Old Noumenon, come true, come true!

Love Me Not 06

Love me not as thou would love the moon and stars
Love me not as thou would love an immortal godess

Love me as thou would love a mystery, a shadow
Love me as thou would love a secret, a rose

Love me not to die for me
Love me not as thine own

Love me as thou loves life, as the beautiful unknown
Love me as I am with out question, with out sorrow

Love me not as thou would love the moon and stars
Love me not as an immortal goddess

Love me as thou would love a secret, a shadow
Love me more as each layer, each petal unfolds

What Kind Of Love?

Love is very illusive, yet it is everywhere
Some love themselves
Some love money
Some love what the world provides
Some love earthly things
Some love power
Some love falsley
Few love true
Few love God
Few loves love

The world is full of fools
If I'm a fool to love
So it be
I will rather be a fool,
A fool to believe in love
Than a fool without love.

Love Gets You

Love gets you any way, any way it can.
Love gets you any way, any way it can.
Close my eyes and think of you, my love,
This space is full of you, my love,
Oh, hold me tight here in your arms tonight.
Love gets you any way that you want it,
Love gets you any way, its true.
Love gets you any way that you want it,
Love gets you any way.
Good-bye lonely now my lifes begun,
All the nights I used to sit alone.
Oh, promise me youll need me always.
Love gets you any way that you want it,
Love gets you any way, its true.
Love gets you any way that you want it,
Love gets you any way.
All I wants your love, keep telling me soft and clear,
Theres no other one, love me for ever, dear.
[ohoh, ohoh, ohoh]
Love gets you any way that you want it,
Love gets you any way, its true.
Love gets you any way that you want it,
Love gets you any way, its true.

A Visit From Diotima l

MM Diotima!
D Who were you expecting?
MM No one. What are you doing here? What time is it?
D It's only three. Sorry. I brought you my latest love song.
MM Diotima, you know I don't like love songs.
D That's your problem. Everyone else does. Move over.
MM Can't it wait till morning? Oof...be careful!
D No. It needs to be heard by moonlight.
MM The moon is on holiday. Back soon.
D You don't want to hear my love song?
MM Is it long?
D Not at all.
MM (sighs) Well, ok, then, shoot.
D I'm glad you asked. Here it is: Ready?
(sings)
'Our love is so unusual-
Different, different, different-
Different, different, so unusual...
MM Ah, Diotima...
D What? Do you like it? Then it goes:
(continues singing)
Unusual, different, very different-
Hey, you make me feel like throwing myself off a cliff...
MM Diotima!
D Different, different, different...
When I think of you, I...
MM Diotima, that'll do.
D Wait, here comes the best part-
(sings)
Different, different, different...
MM Diotima, it's three o'clock. The neighbors. There are laws.
D After ten, the laws are just suggestions.
MM You haven't met my neighbors. You haven't met Louise in 7A.
She'll think you're me.
D Good. We can invite her in. Does she like poetry, too?
MM Diotima, it's three o'clock in the morning! You'd have to be
Ovid, himself...
D Ach, poor Ovid. Did I ever tell you about the time we had dinner?
MM Unh-unh. What happened?
D Nothing! A big, fat zero! These love poets-all talk.
MM Diotima, inspiration aside, you can't just...

Talk about Love!

I was thinking and talking about love
and its various definitions.
Each one has his love
who resides within
and not even you can understand
There are people who love few,
only for him
to show, to use
but it is all he has
poor love, but even so is love
others love so completely
and intensely
rich in love and poor in happiness.
has philosopher of love
against love
for pain
But we can not escape the pain
and if love is just love and pain
ah! please let me die of love
