I'm Only Ninety Years Of Age

I applied to run the marathon,
Only to be told,
We're sorry Mr. Marquis,
But I'm afraid you're far too old.

I asked the lady in question,
Exactly what she meant,
If I couldn't get my entry card,
Their criteria must be bent.

She claimed I wouldn't manage,
Past the first mile station,
I said to her how dare you,
That is age discrimination.

She then said it's not your age,
It's the stamina that you lack,
If you ran a hundred yards,
You'd risk a heart attack.

I've fought in wars the world over,
Whilst in the royal navy,
Running a bloody marathon,
Is like eating pie and gravy.

I fought the Germans and the Japs,
We won that race with ease,
Now you're saying I'm past it,
That smacks of bloody sleaze.

Though I feel a trifle older,
Maybe plumper round the middle,
I really think that you should know,
I'm still as fit as a fiddle.

What gives you the right to say,
That I can't run this race,
I will prove you've got me wrong,
I'll show you I can last the pace.

I've paddled down mountain rivers,
Climbed all of Scotlands Munro's,
Sailed the seven seas alone,
Yet still my energy grows.

That should now convince you,
If just a little bit,
That I really am invincible,
I'm one of the super fit.

So get my entry processed,
I now think I've made it clear,
I will run this marathon,
I've earned the right to be here.

She said you talk a good race sir,
The patter you have mastered,
But looking at the state you're in,
You're just a right auld bastard.

When she told me I was past my best,
That put me in a rage,
Why would she even think that,

‘' I'm Only Ninety Years Of Age ‘'

Marathon Man

(eric carmen)
Twenty years with my brain in a book
Tryin to find out who I am
Endless nights and olympian dreams
Of a race I never ran
Someones callin my name
Its the crowd in the stands
Dont know how I became
What I suddenly am
Marathon man, keep a-runnin
Marathon man, keep a-runnin
Ive been searchin so long
But the answer is finally at hand
Im a marathon man
Wind is gone and my heads in a haze
But I must keep up the pace
Got to think about strategy here
If I hope to win the race
Someones callin my name
Its the crowd in the stands
Concentrate on the pain
Put my soul in command
Marathon man, keep a-runnin
Marathon man, keep a-runnin
Ive been searchin so long
But the answer is finally at hand
Im a marathon man
Wasting my youth
Chasing dreams, testing truth
Taking turns being deceived
And deceivin
Bound with a rope
Made of heroes and hope
Till I found nothin left
To believe in
Marathon man, keep a-runnin
Marathon man, keep a-runnin
Ive been searchin so long
But the answer is finally at hand
Im a marathon man

Bhuddia Singh

A boy, four years’ of age, by mother sold,
Whose stamina was unusual for age;
Was discovered by a coach out in the cold,
And trained to be a marathon runner.

The coach paid back sum eight hundred rupees
And bought the boy back from the hawker old;
He gave him special food; reared him with love;
He exercised him so regularly!

He knew the boy could run a marathon!
He made him run long distances daily;
The boy had pace and breathing well-suited;
And soon he set a marathon record!

He entered ‘Limca Book of Records’ fast;
The tiny star had caught world attention;
They want to make a film about his life;
The human rights committee sent notice!

The boy was sent for a medical check-up;
He suffers much protein deficiency;
His kidneys could get damaged if he ran;
The doctors told him not to run for now.

He’d run sixty-five kilometers race!
May be, it was too much for his small age;
Nevertheless, a prodigy he turned;
He’ as the cynosure of all eyes in sports!

Is it exploitation of small children?
Is it an experiment by a coach?
More medical tests will show trauma done;
Kudos to boy: his coach and his great run!

The Indian lad could win Olympic gold;
He needs sponsors and special coaching care;
One can become great, born in sufferings!
The world shouldn’t ignore plight of all children.

Villanelle of Change

Since Persia fell at Marathon,
The yellow years have gathered fast:
Long centuries have come and gone.

And yet (they say) the place will don
A phantom fury of the past,
Since Persia fell at Marathon;

And as of old, when Helicon
Trembled and swayed with rapture vast
(Long centuries have come and gone),

This ancient plain, when night comes on,
Shakes to a ghostly battle-blast,
Since Persia fell at Marathon.

But into soundless Acheron
The glory of Greek shame was cast:
Long centuries have come and gone,

The suns of Hellas have all shone,
The first has fallen to the last: --
Since Persia fell at Marathon,
Long centuries have come and gone.

Marathon

* Chorus
Love is this marathon, I'm running for you daily
And you don't know me yet but faith is all I have, see
And I'm gonnnnaaaaa
Win this race (Repeat 2x)
* Verse 1
Since I were a little girl
My eyes were fixed on you
I knew that one day we'd meet
That you could set me free
Sure diamond rings, pretty things
A piece of mind, could be all mine
O this growing love affair
Has kept me on my feet
* Chorus
Love is this marathon, I'm running for you daily
And you don't know me yet but faith is all I have, see
And I'm gonnnaaaa
Win this race (Repeat 2x)
Yesterday I had a glimpse of you
You look me in my face
And just the other day you brushed right by me
I felt you reeling in my space
Tell me, do you think of me
And can you see me form the start
I swear I said I'd wait for you
But fate might change the score
*Repeat Chorus 2x until song fades

Ultimate goal of woman

What is ultimate goal of woman in life?
To serve the man folks and stay nicely as wife?
To rear the children and push the link
Survive the test without any blink

What best can be done by female individually?
How can that be executed successfully?
To be of some utility is source of great concern
Everybody is facing it turn by turn’

It is Almighty’s choice to send us as male or female
It is our duty to succeed, excel or fail
Gender preference may always be there
But it is compulsory to stay as and where you are

Oh Dear, you got what others could not
Motherhood, a sense of pride without being fought
What a glow and charm on mother's face?
Almost attained and won the marathon race

Saints are meant to breach and preach
Oh dear, yours is beyond anybody's reach
It is blessing considered precious and so much
Who may be lucky to have a gift as such?

I was ardent champion for women’s cause
They may bring lull in atmosphere and pause
The situation may not be worsened at all
She may stand by in any emergency call

I may not go directly to their cause and align
Still I may contribute positively and make it fine
They won’t feel let down in their legitimate fight
As their cause is not only worthy but right

At every stage we come across them and feel a pride
They have all the more open filed and nothing to hide
We have wrong perception about them and gap is wide
They have lot more at stake to reveal than to confide

I come across many female activists and try to know their views
They will feel very much insecure like morning dews
They will loose their courage and give up the fight
It will be too, long for them to struggle for rights

One of sensible lady apprised of one thing
He had prayed God and asked something
She wanted to be warrior and front runner
But the God made her to be mother as beginner

Oh Dear, you got what others could not
Motherhood, a sense of pride without being fought
What a glow and charm on mother's face?
Almost attained and won the marathon race

Saints are meant to breach and preach
Oh dear, yours is beyond anybody's reach
It is blessing considered precious and so much
Who may be lucky to have a gift as such?

Running The Race

Living life is like running a race
You have to go on and live each day
With courage and hope no matter what you face
Whatever the seasons that may come your way.

Life is a marathon as you keep on running
Each step is a choice and a gamble
The future is uncertain yet you keep going
The risks are many and sometimes you stumble.

But with family and friends by your side
You find strength to do it and go on
Running the race with God as your Guide
You find the finish line is there and you have won!

Race To The Fire

(dieter bohlen)
Producers for bonnie: dieter bohlen & luis rodriguez
Race to the fire
All the wheels are turning
All alone just in a lonely world
Yeah baby
Maybe love is a lonely number
Cant you hear the wheels of thunder
Theyre driving deep into your heart
Feelings theyll never be torn apart
Maybe hes the man behind the wire
Hes living in a world of fire
He sailed his ship alone
Theres a heart but theres no home
*race to the fire
All the wheels are turning
All alone just in a lonely world
Till the end of the time
Hes fighting the crime
Thats no lie, my baby
**race to the fire
To the end of eden
To the city of the lost and found
He is too proud to cry
Or too live with a lie
Take him seriously, baby
** * race to the fire (fire)
Race to the fire (fire)
Race to the fire
Hes fighting for your rights
Race to the fire
Race to the fire (fire)
Race to the fire (fire)
Only the strong survive
Maybe hes goin through the motions
Theres a shadow of devotion
Its showin his destiny
One minute past eternity
Oh maybe good things dont last forever
Hes living just now or never
No mountain is high enough
Times are getting really tough
(* repeat)
(* * repeat)
(* * *repeat)
Race to the fire
Fighting for your rights
Race to the fire
Time is on his side
Race to the fire
Two hearts collide
Race to the fire
There is no crime

Here goes the 116th Boston Marathon!

I am really fed up with the rat race
Almost tired & frustrated?
Darling! Please do not force this weakling
And I am so sorry as you spent a lot for me
In vain the multivitamin capsules
Five hour energy drinks & Viagra?
I'll be in the crowd if you like as a spectator!
You can take some close-up photographs
From the digital camera,
Our daughter sent from Australia.
At least we could pacify ourselves
That we have seen a true Marathon
For the first time in our life?

['We want people to know it's hard to go through something like this, but you can keep fighting and can continue to lead a positive life.'-Ed Feather]

*A humble dedication to the courageous 39 year-old Ed Feather Esq. of Framingham, Massachusetts who runs for the Marathon to honor his beloved wife, who died of ovarian cancer.My innocent prayers for the individual Poet-God with a heart to make him the winner Supremo!

Rivera Honeymoon

Beneath the trees I lounged at ease
And watched them speed the pace;
They swerved and swung, they clutched and clung,
They leapt in roaring chase;
The crowd was thrilled, a chap was killed:
It was a splendid race.

Two men, they say, went West that day,
But I knew only one;
Geranium-red his blood was spread
And blazoned in the sun;
A lighting crash . . . Lo! in a flash
His racing days were done.

I did not see - such sights to me
Appallingly are grim;
But for a girl of sunny curl
I would not mention him,
That English lad with grin so glad,
And racing togs so trim.

His motor bike was painted like
A postal box of ed.
'Twas gay to view . . . "We bought it new,"
A voice beside me said.
"Our little bit we blew on it
The day that we were wed.

"We took a chance: through sunny France
We flashed with flaunting power.
With happy smiles a hundred miles
Or more we made an hour.
Like flame we hurled into a world
A-foam with fruit and flower.

"Our means were small; we risked them all
This famous race to win,
So we can take a shop and make
Our bread - one must begin.
We're not afraid; Jack has his trade:
He's bright as brassy pin.

"Hark! Here they come; uphill they hum;
My lad has second place;
They swing, they roar, they pass once more,
Now Jack sprints up the pace.
They're whizzing past . . . At last, at last
He leads - he'll win the race.

Another round . . . They leap, they bound,
But - where O where is he?"
And then the girl with sunny curl
Turned chalk-faced unto me,
Within her eyes a wild surmise
It was not good to see.

They say like thunder-bold he crashed
Into a wall of stone;
To bloody muck his face was mashed,
He died without a moan;
In borrowed black the girl went back
To London Town alone.

Beneath the trees I longed at ease
And saw them pep the pace;
They swerved and swung, they clutched and clung
And roaring was the chase:
Two men, they say, were croaked that day -
It was a glorious race.

Yesterdays Men

An insolent speck of youth
Being taken for a walk
So tightly by the ear
That he can hardly talk
Yesterdays men hang to today
To sing in the old-fashioned way
It must get better in the long run
Has to get better in the long run
A metropolitan marathon
Has been held today
But who you need to catch
Will be coming the other way
Yesterdays men hang to today
To sing in any old way
It must get better in the long run
Has to get better in the long run
Because when youre told to start
How far can you go
When your race is won
And you already know
Because when youre told to stop
How far will you go
When your race is run
And you already know
Yesterdays men hang to today,
To sing in any old way,
It must get better in the long run
Has to get better in the long run
Will it get better in the long run
Will we be here in the long run
Yesterdays men hang to today,
To sing in any old way,
It must get better in the long run
Has to get better in the long run
Will it get better in the long run
Will we be here in the long run
Do, do, do, hang on in the long run.

As same as Wine and Cheese

And I sleep on the floor as per the doctor's advise for sciatica.

I have to participate the World Diabetic Marathon!
Darling it's harder to bring the cup this time home
At least a certificate for finishing the race too doubtful
Because the former champions

Cut Price Bloody Flights

I fancied going on holiday,
So I searched the Internet,
I tried out various airlines,
Just to see what I could get.

As I'm on a real tight budget,
The price had to be the best,
Nothing fancy, there and back,
Costing less than all the rest.

I then came across a company,
Their seats were really cheap,
A no frills airline that would do,
My debts wouldn't go too deep.

When I searched their website,
I was amazed at what I found,
A flight to where I want to go,
For just a single pound.

I then went on to pay the bill,
So I used my credit card,
What they charged me for using it,
Has left me feeling scarred.

Then before the bill was finalised,
When I thought I could relax,
They told me I then had to pay,
Something called airport tax.

But now on to the airport,
As I checked my baggage in,
They said it should be done on-line,
Otherwise you cannot win.

I paid another surcharge,
By this time I was running late,
Another charge for that said she,
I thought this is bloody great.

As you didn't print your tickets off,
I'm afraid that's even more,
This is sheer and utter madness,
But our terms you can't ignore.

She said your bags are far too heavy,
that will cost you more again,
I was running out of money,
This was driving me insane.

Eventually when I boarded,
They left me so surprised,
They made me pay for an extra seat,
Saying I was oversized.

I thought that I had seen it all,
Then I asked them for a meal,
Thirty pounds for micro chips,
Is not the greatest deal.

I also bought a drink of juice,
My micro chips to soak,
The price they charged me for it,
Would have made an elephant choke.

Then I visited the toilet,
This caused even more ado,
They even charge an entry fee,
To use the bloody loo.

Eventually when we landed,
I asked where we were at,
She said in Spain I don't know where,
But at least the ground is flat.

I eventually got a taxi,
The driver was full of smiles,
I found out why when I got the bill,
We had travelled two hundred miles.

If you want to travel cheap,
Make sure you read their rules,
Or the consequences you will reap,
They use complicated tools.

Now as I sit here bankrupt,
I wish had studied my rights,
I'm living proof there's no such thing as,

No Future, Too Much Past

When you have no future
You have to live in the past
A member of this human race
Who'll pass the finish line last.

The future, things to come
Nothing much except pain
The past, Times gone by
Nothing at all, just plenty of rain.

So disaster looms on every corner
Just waiting to leap out at you
You could take a different path
But it finds you whatever you do.
So the future and the past Are just one and the same
The first and second halves of a stupid bloody game
Impossible to win, Destined to lose
I should just give in and sink into the ooze.

And the future draws to a close
While the past increases in size
No future, too much past
And more loneliness, sadness and lies.
