When we would run with the rain
Falling like showers on our face

I Come Back To Myself Slowly

I COME BACK TO MYSELF SLOWLY

I come back to myself slowly
I have been away for a time
To another part of my self
I do not want to be at all-
It is the part of Despair and Fear and Loss of Hope
And guilt over my own unworthiness-
I have come back to myself a bit
I am sort of alright
There is not around me all this weight and cloud and all this heavy dragging me down-
I am calmer now.

I say I am coming back to my better self
I hope so
I do feel better-
But I know Life and the Other Self wait for me and will find me again-
Up and down, over and out, all around
The human being is a succession of his own continually conflicting selves.

Hooped Dresses In the Dirt Dragging

Is it so crazy to relive happy days.
With a squeaky clean innocence,
To amaze.

Gone are cloudy eyes cleared from a haze.
Reminiscent of those times,
Covered wagons were the rage.

Hooped dresses in the dirt dragging,
With dudes in zoot suits.
Wide-legged, high-waisted pants...
And wearing button spatted boots.

Today are seen exposed breasts.
And men's underwear.
No one wants to cover up,
Anything bare.
