To a Dancer

Intoxicatingly
Her eyes across the footlights gleam,
(The wine of love, the wine of dream)
Her eyes, that gleam for me!

The eyes of all that see
Draw to her glances, stealing fire
From her desire that leaps to my desire;
Her eyes that gleam for me!

Subtly, deliciously,
A quickening fire within me, beat
The rhythms of her poising feet;
Her feet that poise to me!

Her body's melody,
In silent waves of wandering sound,
Thrills to the sense of all around,
Yet thrills alone for me!

And oh, intoxicatingly,
When, at the magic moment's close,
She dies into the rapture of repose,
Her eyes that gleam for me!

Ode to the Banished Fairy

Once upon a dream
Disney plagiarism I know
But here it goes...(singalong)
For you

I know you
I walked with you once upon a dream
I know you
The gleam in your eyes
Is so familiar a gleam
Yet I know it's true
That visions are seldom all they seem
But, if I know you, I know what you'll do
You'll love me at once
The way you did once, upon a dream

(keep singing)
La, la, la, la
But, if I know you, I know what you'll do
You'll love me at once
The way you did once upon a dream

I know you
I walked with you once upon a dream
I know you
The gleam in your eyes
Is so familiar a gleam
(yes, keep singing)

And I know it's true
That visions are seldom all they seem
But, if I know you, I know what you'll do
You'll love me at once
The way you did once, upon a dream

A Dream

Only a dream, a beautiful baseless dream;
Only a bright
Flash from your eyes, a brief electrical gleam,
Charged with delight.

Only a waking, alone, in the moon's last gleam
Fading from sight;
Only a flooding of tears that shudder and stream
Fast through the night.

Beauty

As a sword in the sun
A glory calling a glory
Our eyes, seeing it run,
Capture its gleam for our story.

Singer, marvellous gleam
Dancing in splendid light,
Here you have brought us our dream
Ah, but its stay is its flight !

Jacqueminots

I MAY not speak in words, dear, but let my words be flowers,
To tell their crimson secret in leaves of fragrant fire;
They plead for smiles and kisses as summer fields for showers,
And every purple veinlet thrills with exquisite desire.

O, let me see the glance, dear, the gleam of soft confession
You give my amorous roses for the tender hope they prove;
And press their heart-leaves back, love, to drink their deeper passion,
For their sweetest, wildest perfume is the whisper of my love!

My roses, tell her, pleading, all the fondness and the sighing,
All the longing of a heart that reaches thirsting for its bliss;
And tell her, tell her, roses, that my lips and eyes are dying
For the melting of her love-look and the rapture of her kiss.

When She Walks By

Eyes so dark
Heart so pure
I could never love another
The way I love her
Gleam in her eyes
Like a candles flame
I love when I hear her
Call out my name
When she walks by
Birds stop their flight
The dead come to life
And the blind regain their sight
I could never love another
The way I love her
Eyes so dark
Heart so pure

Skin so soft
Soul on fire
She fills me with
Complete desire
The way she moves
The way she looks
One glance at her
Was all it took
When she walks by
People stare
At her radiant face
And her ebony hair
She fills me with
Complete desire
Skin so soft
Soul on fire

Perfect body
A scholar's mind
Michelangelo would envy
Such a find
Beautiful smile
Always sincere
Whoever's around
Wants her near
When she walks by
Angels weep
Gods hide their faces
And lovers leap
Michelangelo would envy
Such a find
Perfect body
A scholar's mind

James Dean

(dieter bohlen)
Producer for bonnie: dieter bohlen
Grew up together in the neighbourhood
She never noticed that he looked so good
He told her all I do is dream of you, oh yeah
No she had never seen in her wildest dreams
Blue eyes that gleam - just like james dean
Big plans they made in a small hometown
No chance to leave would really bring him down
A crazy rebel with a cause - he was for sure, oh yeah
Oh she had never seen in her wildest dreams
Blue eyes that gleam - just like james dean
He writes her letters from a round the world
Says he loves her and shes still his girl
Maybe hell come back, dont know when
Oh shell never see her baby again
Hes got the whole world in his hands
And she was alice in his wonderland
Oh they had dreams, but now he has it all, yeah
No she had never seen in her wildest dreams
Blue eyes that gleam - just like james dean
She was the diamond of his eyes
And she would always be right by his side
But good guys only win in the movies, yeah
Oh she had never seen in her wildest dreams
Blue eyes that gleam - just like james dean
He writes her letters from around the world
Says he loves her and shes still his girl
Maybe hell come hack, dont know when
Oh shell never see her baby again

Flora of the Eden: Antwerp

Eyes that sought my eyes, an-hungered, as a fire;
Hands that sought and caught my hands in their desire;
Hands and eyes that clipt and lipt me as a hungering fire!

But I turned away from your ecstatic eyes,
But my heart was silent to your eager sighs,
But I turned to other eyes from your imploring eyes.

Hands that I rejected, you were fain to give;
Eyes that for their moment loved me, as I live;
Mouth that kissed me: Flora of the Eden, O forgive!

Not Mine

I have to see the fire burn in your eyes
I have to hold you and call you mine
I need to feel your lips on mine
I need to hear your covetous sighs

I feel your breath on my cheek
I feel your eyes on your feet
I wish that we could meet
I wish at your face, I could peek

Your eyes don't burn with fire
Your sighs with derision, not desire
Your lips grimace as in pain
Not mine, I realize once again

Oh, that you knew my pain!
Oh, that you knew my troubles
But you know nothing, don't you?
You know not that I need you

I close my crying eyes
My tears I do disguise
Invisible to the world
Just another lonely girl

I will just close my eyes
My mind will rewind time
To a place where you were mine
As my heart breaks, and dies

An Aurora Borealis

O STRANGE soft gleam, o ghostly dawn
That never brightens unto day;
Ere earth's mirk pale once more be drawn
Let us look out beyond the gray.

It is just midnight by the clock--
There is no sound on glen or hill,
The moaning linn adown its rock
Leaps, but the woods lie dark and still.

Austere against the kindling sky
Yon broken turret blacker grows;
Harsh light, to show remorselessly
Ruins night hid in kind repose!

Nay, beauteous light, nay, light that fills
The whole heaven like a dream of morn,
As waking upon northern hills
She smiles to find herself new-born,--

Strange light, I know thou wilt not stay,
That many an hour must come and go
Before the pale November day
Break in the east, forlorn and slow.

Yet blest one gleam--one gleam like this,
When all heaven brightens in our sight,
And the long night that was and is
And shall be, vanishes in light:

O blest one hour like this! to rise
And see grief's shadows backward roll;
While bursts on unaccustomed eyes
The glad Aurora of the soul.

Says My Heart

Frank loesser / burton lane
Fall in love, tall in love
Says my heart,
Its romance, take a chance
Says my heart
But each time that Im almost in your arms
This old schoolteacher brain of mine
Keeps bringing in false alarms
Then my head rolls instead and Im wise
To the scheme of that gleam in your eyes
So I kiss and run
But the moment were apart
Oh! you fool, that was love
Says my heart
Then my head rolls instead and Im wise
To the scheme of that gleam in your eyes
So I kiss and run
But the moment were apart
Oh! you fool, that was love
Says my heart.
It wasnt the moon, it wasnt the stars
That was love!
Says my heart

Another For The Briar-Rose

O treacherous scent, O thorny sight,
O tangle of world’s wrong and right,
What art thou ’gainst my armour’s gleam
But dusky cobwebs of a dream?

Beat down, deep sunk from every gleam
Of hope, they lie and dully dream;
Men once, but men no more, that Love
Their waste defeated hearts should move.

Here sleeps the world that would not love!
Let it sleep on, but if He move
Their hearts in humble wise to wait
On his new-wakened fair estate.

O won at last is never late!
Thy silence was the voice of fate;
Thy still hands conquered in the strife;
Thine eyes were light; thy lips were life.

Unspoken language

Words drip
soft and sensual,
tones of velvet
brown like coffee,
scent of spices
on the breath
that drifts across
my cheek
and it could be
a shopping list
for all I know,
the soothing lilt
could speak to me
of laundry, taxes.
or of love
a mystery I ponder
with half-closed eyes
while I imagine romance
for a moment, passion
breathing at my ear
in structured rhythms
I don't understand
and lonely hearts
make magic
like a band aid
built of hope
because it is eternal
a language
can be learned
if need be
so I turn to meet
the gleam of smiling eyes.

Beautiful Girl (Another Heaven)

I’ve heard of heaven.

I heard it has a sound.

But, I have searched,

And I have found

Another ecstasy

One on earth

She has the gleam

Gleam of angels in her eyes

No demons to despise

Diamonds of your choice

Harp strings in her voice

O, she is not from heaven

She is heaven

And she makes me feel

So immortal, but REAL!

I would hold any ransom

Just to join her kingdom

Cradle Song

FROM groves of spice,
O'er fields of rice,
Athwart the lotus-stream,
I bring for you,
Aglint with dew
A little lovely dream.

Sweet, shut your eyes,
The wild fire-fiies
Dance through the fairy neem;
From the poppy-bole
For you I stole
A little lovely dream.

Dear eyes, good-night,
In golden light
The stars around you gleam;
On you I press
With soft caress
A little lovely dream.

With desire have I to do this with you

When I Close my Eyes

When I close my eyes,
I can see my country,
Shining in the light, bright.
When I close my eyes.

When I close my eyes,
I see the trees,
Green against the skyline.
When I close my eyes.

When I close my eyes,
I see stars shining cross,
The wide beyond.
When I close my eyes.

When I close my eyes,
I see the sunset behind your hair,
Halo shining in the air.
When I close my eyes.

When I close my eyes,
I hear the ocean waves,
Crashing on the shore.
When I close my eyes.

When I close my eyes,
I see the moon glistening,
Through your eyes.
When I close my eyes.

I Cannot be Known

I cannot be known
Better than you know me

Your eyes in which we sleep
We together
Have made for my man's gleam
A better fate than for the common nights

Your eyes in which I travel
Have given to signs along the roads
A meaning alien to the earth

In your eyes who reveal to us
Our endless solitude

Are no longer what they thought themselves to be

You cannot be known
Better than I know you.

The Seeker

GOOD People, by your fires to-night
Sit close and praise the red, red wood!
The wind is cold, the moon is white;
With me who wander 'tis not well; it is not well, but God is good.
'Fore birth I was foredoomed to roam,
To keep my soul and self apart,
An alien without hearth and home —
With me who wander 'tis not well; there is no warmth of fire or heart.
I mate with all the wandering winds
That roam across the wintry earth;
What time behind your close-drawn blinds
Your firelit faces smile and smile, I would that I might share their
mirth.
But if I entered I should sit
A wordless dreamer at your fire;
With heart unwarmed and eyes unlit,
I should be like a spectre there, shut off from you and your desire.
And yet, I would that I might warm
My heart and hands at your fire-glow;
But headlong seas and shouting storm
They thrill my blood, they fill my eyes, they call me forth, and I must
go.
Good People, maids and dames and sires,
Ye have your little woe and mirth;
Ye dream no dream; but there are spires
That point to stars, and still point on in spite of this dark, drawing
earth.
It is not well with me to-night,
And I by that strange shore would be
Where, 'twist day's last grey gleam and night,
A Wonder wanes that I alone of all the world must seek and see.
What cliffs they be, what sea rolls there,
I do not know; but, spirit-chained,
Lost visions fill me with despair,
And all the washed grey foreland speaks of some strange Wonder that
has waned.
Good People, bread and wine are good,
And all your visions goodly be.
But some may crave for other food,
And some are seekers from their birth, and dream of lights they shall
not see.
And there is he who fain would find
A Wonder by an alien shore:
Athwart the seas he speeds his mind,
But on the instant fades a light, and lo, the Wonder is no more.

Man and Woman

[ According to Maori mythology, the god Tiki created Man by taking a piece of clay and moistening it with his own blood. Woman was the offspring of a sunbeam and a sylvan echo .]
THUS God made Man to cope with destiny:
Taking the common clay, God moistened it
With His red blood; and so for ever lit
That sombre grossness with divinity.
So Man for ever finds him in the mesh
Of clogging earth; and though divine hopes thrill
And flush his leaping heart, it faints, for still
His dreams are pinioned in the gyves of flesh.
Yet ever God's blood in him courses free,
And, penetrated with eternal hope,
Up Evolution's long, uneven slope
Man lifts him from his sodden ancestry!
And though his eyes the far goal cannot see,
And half the terrors of the dark he knows,
Yet with an inward fire his courage glows;
He bears the torch of immortality.
But Woman from a memory had birth,
Into the forest's dignity of shade
A sudden sunbeam groped—a soft hand laid
In silent benediction on the earth.

Then filtered through the green a song forlorn
Of some forgotten bird. Lo! in a mist
Of love the sunbeam and the echo kissed,
And Woman—sunlit memory—was born.
So light and melody to her belong—
The sunlight in the dying echo blurred!
So Woman came—a vision and a word
From the unknown—a sunbeam and a song!
So ever through the forest of the years
Shall Man pursue and still pursue the gleam
That wavers and is gone; and through his dream
The fainting echo of a song he hears.
And when at last his weary feet are led
Into the sacred glade, and she stands there,
He takes her close—all song and sunlit hair:
The gleam has faded and the song has fled!
And though with blinded eyes he cannot see,
She haunts him like a word that he knows not—
That is not quite remembered, nor forgot—
Some thought that hovers near a memory.
As out from Heaven she leans, on earth there falls
The sunbeam of her hair, golden and fine;
And drops an echo of a voice divine—
A voice that ever vainly calls and calls!

And though she spill a splendour and a fire
Upon the dark, her glory is unknown;
Behind the screen of self she dwells alone
She cannot come as close as her desire.
So ever like a pale moon drowned in mist
Her face is vague—a barrier intervenes;
And ever from her loneliness she leans,
With waiting eyes, all-wistful to be kissed!

I've Been Taken In

I've never known a love so true
You so mean the world to me
Your beauty is beyond perfection
Yes you are the everything you see
I desire you so much it's no lie
Yet I know it's just a dream
How your eyes give you away
Full of hope and so much gleam
I watch you carefully with smile
As your black hair hangs down
I can't beat this feeling anymore
You with that tempting little frown
I've Been Taken In
You touch me and fill me with delight
How I shiver when you get near
My heart longs so for you I know
Can't you see it in my tears
There is no other in this world
How can you second guess this
Nothing can come between us
When I'm so lost in your sweet kiss
I've Been Taken In
