An Echo
'when you encounter
certain things in the world,
the evidence
for certain things,
you realize that you have come
upon something that you may
not very well be equal to…
When you've said that it's real
and not just in your head,
I'm not all that sure what
it is you have said'

Hebrews 11: 1
Faith is the substance of things hoped for
the light of the Lord that opens the door
Reveling the light of heaven serene
the evidence of things not seen
My God has revealed the evidence
His glorious power with consequence
Healing me and making me clean
the evidence of things not seen
Faith in Christ without reservation
releaved the pain of my aberration
So open His book to see what I mean
the evidence of things not seen
Faith is the substance of things hoped for
the evidence of things not seen

The Good Things
Demo version, from mayor of simpleton single.
Released in 1989.
Four-track recording.
Though your heart desires the things that money can buy
Emptiness lies through the glass, I shield your eyes
Theres nothing out there for you, my dear
Theres nothing out there for you
Let me tell you about the good things
The good things
I know your head is full of big ideas
You aint missing anything, have no fear
I have touched the grass so green on the other side
It will grieve you and deceive you with disguise
Theres nothing out there for you, my dear
Theres nothing out there for you
Let me tell you about the good things
The good things
I know you pine for things you see in magazines
That world brings heartache, now its not real, believe me
Remember all of those good things
You know you cant buy all those good things

The Downstream
Lay down your head & look to your window
Where do you go when its not where youre going
And how do you see when the light isnt shining
Where you could be if you worked out the timing
And how does it feel when the world comes on so real & true
And how do you do the things you do to you
If I were a king & you were a lady
What would I sing to say what Im saying
And would you believe the verses left open
My heart on my sleeve the rhyming all broken
And how does it feel when the world comes back so real & true
And how do you do the things you do to you
Sell me a river and Ill skate away
To the downstream where I did play
So easy minded like a hill on the skyline
Tripped up and blinded getting lost on the sidelines
And how does it feel when each word comes back so real & true
And how do you do the things you do to you

Real niggaz do real things
Hangin with the honies is the song I sing
Real niggaz do real things
On the road to riches and diamond rings
Real niggaz do real things
Bustin my toast off the roof drinkin 90 proof til spring
Real niggaz do real things

Two opposite things
Man cannot conceive like woman.
Is he equal to woman?
Woman will not rape as man does.
Is she equal to man?
Man is plus and woman, minus.
They aren’t equal.
Man is a positive and woman, a negative.
They aren’t equal.
Equality is not the need of the hour.
fitting to each other.
Union is not of two equal things
But two opposite things.
Man is a tree and woman, a vine.
Clinging is assured

First Touch
I dreamed of all
The wonders in the world
And lovers that I knew
I saw so many good things
At one time
Mountains of emotion
Coming right into view
When I arose from my bed
I got that warm glow
At the back of my head
First touch, feel the power
Hear the thunder over me
First touch, out of nowhere
See the future over me
Then I dreamed about
The tenderness we shared
And how it makes us feel
Like every first encounter
That we have
When I think I must be dreamin
You tell me that its real
And here you are in my bed
I get that warm glow
At the back of my head

In The Real World
(jennings/kerr)
In dreams we do so many things
We set aside the rules we know
And fly the world so high
In great and shining rings
If only we could always live in dreams
If only we could make of life
What, in dreams, it seems
But in the real world
We must say our goodbyes
No matter if the love will live
It will never die
In the real world
There are things that we cant change
And endings come to us
In ways that we cant rearrange
I love you, and you love me
But sometimes we must let it be
In the real world
In the real world
When we were dreaming heart to heart
I wish that we had stayed right there
For when the dreamers do awake
The dreams do disappear
In the real world
There are things that we cant change
And endings come to us
In ways that we cant rearrange
I love you, and you love me
But sometimes we must let it be
In the real world
In the real world

An Emptiness Collected (Things)
Things,
People pray for.
Things,
People have.
Things,
All around the people.
And things they have make them sad.
Things,
They ask of God to give.
Things,
They get don't please.
And when they realize it's not things they need...
That touch that is desired and wanted,
Has come to leave...
Them!
With their things!
And a generous offering,
Felt...
Of an emptiness collected!

Do You Realize?
Do You Realize - that you have the most beautiful face
Do You Realize - we're floating in space -
Do You Realize - that happiness makes you cry
Do You Realize - that everyone you know someday will die
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know
You realize that life goes fast
It's hard to make the good things last
You realize the sun doesn't go down
It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
Do You Realize - Oh - Oh - Oh
Do You Realize - that everyone you know
Someday will die -
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know
You realize that life goes fast
It's hard to make the good things last
You realize the sun doesn't go down
It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
Do You Realize - that you have the most beautiful face
Do You Realize

Paradise
Let me tell you this
Your love I can't resist
I just start to fantasize
Every time I look into your eyes
I want to laugh and talk
And say the words you long to hear
I want to fill you up with so much love
The real world will just disappear
Chorus: let me take you to a place I call paradise
Hold you in my arms every day and night
Tell you all the things that I really feel
Show you that my love is for real
Let me take you to paradise
Take you to paradise
Let me be your guide
On a magic carpet ride
To a place where love is pure
And our passions can endure
I want you to close your eyes and realize
A world for two
I want you to hear me whisper in your ear
I want to make love to you
Let me take you to a place I call paradise
Hold you in my arms every day and night
Tell you all the things that I really feel
Show you that my love is for real
Let me take you to paradise
Take you to paradise
Do you want to go?
Don't? you want to know?
About a real love
Give me just some time
You'll like what you find
I know
It's so plain to me
We were meant to be
I want to show you baby
We'll unlock all of life's Mysteries
And realize how great our love can really be
Let me take you to paradise

From End To End
Excuse me, but Ive got a request
Could you take the gag off of my mouth
I admit that Im fairly impressed
Cause youre the best at blocking me out
I believe that we werent quite done
I know its hard to hear me out again
I realize, youre not the only one
Whos terrified of life from end to end
Hey hey, can you hear anything I say
Im feeling unwanted, thats not what I wanted
And attention to me is something you refuse to pay
Cause I just cant believe the way that this
Continues to go on
I say I wish you didnt always think Im wrong
So tell me
Tell me what will it take to get this through your head
And tell me what will it take
Until you see things through from end to end
Excuse me, but isnt this the way
That things always turn into something good
Youve tried to ignore the things I say
But in the end you found you never could
Hey hey, can you hear anything I say
You search for the short-cut, you live life but for what
I love you and hope you will find the truth some day
Cause I just cant believe the way that this
Continues to go on
I say I wish you didnt always think Im wrong
So tell me
Tell me what will it take to get this through your head
And tell me what will it take
Until you see things through from end to end
So tell me
Tell me what will it take to get this through your head
And tell me what will it take
To get you on my good side again
And tell me what will it take
To get this through your head
And tell me what will it take
To forget what you knew
Just let him find you
And then youll see things through from end to end

I used to watch the world as if it was a performance and I would realize that certain things that people did moved me, and certain things didn't move me, and I tried to analyze, even at that age, six and seven and eight, why I was moved by certain things they did.

When Will Things Change
the world is unworthy and things countine to be dirty when will things change. when the world is full of mess and people just countine to strees, when will things change. when the streets are some of our homes never knowing why were alone, when will the world change. people cry at night just to give up a fight, when will things change. when you need to cry and you need someone 'why' when will things change.
when the world is sour and people have way to much power, when will things change. crying about the past, the things that never last. when will things change. when the world around you is cold, and shared feelings never seem to bold when will things change. when the world comes at you fast and ever part of your stress continues to last. when will things change.

Not sorry
Are you not sorry
Are you not sorry for what you did?
Are you not sorry for what you said?
Are you not sorry for what you put me through?
Are you not sorry for the stupid things you do?
Now what exactly are you not sorry for?
Should i go on should i list more?
Are you scared of the words that are trying to come out?
If you say your sorry of course i will doubt.
When you tell me you dont have a reason to apologize
I really want you to reconize
and realize
Whats in my head and what i see.
And all the things you've said to me.
So what exactly are you sorry for?
sorry that you love me no more?

Everything Is You
...you are my everything...
i've been thinking of a way to phrase it
seem to never find the words to say it
but it's true to say
i've been occupied by other things (i've been occupied by other things)
how could i think that you wouldn't notice (you wouldn't notice)
the absence of our closeness
realizing now
i will never let it happen again (again)
now i realize
that you are my everything
and without you here beside me
it's like an angel without it's wings
and now i realize (i realize)
that you are my everything
now i know it
should've shown it
and now i realize that you are my everything
as i sit here contemplating
'bout our love that's slowly fading
so insensitive
didn't hear you calling out for me...(didn't hear you calling out my name..)
if i could change the past i would do
everything to show i appreciate you
open up your heart
let me help you fall in love again
my friend, 'cause now i
now i realize
that you are my everything
and without you here beside me
it's like an angel without it's wings
(now i) and now i realize
that you are my everything
now i know it
should've shown it
and now i realize
that you are my everything
now i realize
that you are my everything
and without you here beside me
it's like an angel without it's wings (like an angel without it's wings)
(and now) and now i realize
that you are my everything (you are everything)
now i know it (now i know it)
shouldve shown it (should've shown it)
and now i realize that you are my everything
now i realize
that you are my everything
(life without you here beside me) and like an angel without it's wings
(oh can't you see that i apologize)
and now i realize that you are my everything
now i know it
should've shown it (your the air that i breathe)
and now i realize (the spirit that lives in my soul)
that you are my everything

What teens will realize is always a mystery to me. I'm still realizing so many things myself, very belatedly, that it seems unwise to think I have any right to be showing people things in hopes that they'll realize them.

Good Things!
It's never too late to do good things...
When those good things come,
To be done!
It should never be a decision made,
Whether to show gratitute...
Whenever an attitude,
Is moody when it comes.
Do it...
No one loses!
It's never too late to show someone there,
You think of them just because you care.
Thinking they will know what it is you feel...
Does little for the one,
Who believes no one is aware...
With feelings that are real.
'How could they,
When they aren't there shown or spoken? '
And it's always a good sign...
To release and let things go!
When doubt is removed,
And your mind has approved
The doing is true and it can be proposed.
Hesitation for you will seldom come to show!
Knowing for you that good is in the doing,
And pursuing it from head to toe...
Has you moving.,
Reaping as you sow.
It's never too late to do good things...
When those good things come,
To be done!
Always contemplate good things,
And good things you did...
Makes those good things done grow!
