The Sheep-Washers' Lament

Come now, ye sighing washers all,
Join in my doleful lay,
Mourn for the times none can recall,
With hearts to grief a prey.
We'll mourn the washer's sad downfall
In our regretful strain,
Lamenting on the days gone by
Ne'er to return again.

When first I went a-washing sheep
The year was sixty-one,
The master was a worker then,
The servant was a man;
But now the squatters, puffed with pride,
They treat us with disdain;
Lament the days that are gone by
Ne'er to return again.

From sixty-one to sixty-six,
The bushman, stout and strong,
Would smoke his pipe and whistle his tune,
And sing his cheerful song,
As wanton as the kangaroo
That bounds across the plain.
Lament the days that are gone by
Ne'er to return again.

Supplies of food unstinted, good,
No squatter did withhold.
With plenty grog to cheer our hearts,
We feared nor heat nor cold.
With six-and-six per man per day
We sought not to complain.
Lament the days that are gone by
Ne'er to return again.

With perfect health, a mine of wealth,
Our days seemed short and sweet,
On pleasure bent our evenings spent,
Enjoyment was complete.
But now we toil from morn till night,
Though much against the grain,
Lamenting on the days gone by,
Ne'er to return again.

I once could boast two noble steeds,
To bear me on my way,
My good revolver in my belt,
I never knew dismay.
But lonely now I hump my drum
In sunshine and in rain,
Lamenting on the days gone by
Ne'er to return again.

A worthy cheque I always earned,
And spent it like a lord.
My dress a prince's form would grace.
And spells I could afford.
But now in tattered rags arrayed,
My limbs they ache with pain,
Lamenting on the days gone by,
Ne'er to return again.

May bushmen all in unity
Combine with heart and hand,
May cursed cringing poverty
Be banished from the land.
In Queensland may prosperity
In regal glory reign,
And washers in the time to come
Their vanished rights regain.

Days

- Album: Reality
- Lyrics and music by David Bowie
Hold me tight
Keep me cool
Going mad
Don't know what to do
Do I need a friend?
Well I need one now
All the days of my life
All the days of my life
All the days I owe you
All I've done
I've done for me
All you gave
You gave for free
I gave nothing in return
And theres little left of me
All the days of my life
All the days of my life
All the days I owe you
With redeyed pain I'm knocking on your door again
My crazy brain in tangles pleading for your gentle voice
Those storms keep pounding through my faded heart
I'll play your sooth my sorry soul
All the days of my life
(All the days of my life)
All the days of my life
(All the days of my life)
All the days I owe you
All the days of my life
(All the days of my life)
All the days of my life
(All the days of my life)
All the days I owe you
All the days of my life
(All the days of my life)
All the days of my life
(All the days of my life)

Swallows in the summertime

Swallows in the summertime

The swallows have returned again,
Reminding me of those halcyon days of my youth,
Many years have passed since those blissful days,
I would spend many happy evenings watch them dart around.

The swallows always return each summer,
Spreading their joyful wings over England's green and pleasant land,
Every summer I wonder how many more times will I see the return,
Although it's summer again, I ‘am approaching the winter of my life.

When the swallows return again next year again,
I wonder if I will still be here to see them again,
Flying on the wing under the clear blue skies of summer,
If I ‘am, I will sit by the babbling brook and watch their dance once more.

If I see the swallows return once more,
I will remember those summer days of long ago,
When I was a lad and the countryside seemed to go on forever,
And in my mind I will be young again.

The Return

We find ourselves going home.
But isn't that where the heart is?
So half of us is not in the return
and that's what is amiss.
We now know just how it feels to be loved
in life's greatest way.
It fills you with a longing
to never have it go away.
Four days out of your life you treasure
and think sadly to yourself
that but for these four short days you've had
your life was an unopened book on a shelf.
You know you most probably will not return
to the family you have found.
But still you hide that in your mind
and look forward to your home ground.

So now you know you can mend all the missing parts
that your life's had.
And that in itself is healing
and helps when you are sad.
Return maybe?
maybe not?
but that's not the important thing.
Only the four days you lived is
what will finally bring
HAPPINESS.

A Refusal to Mourn (as His Father Lay Dying)

You want the return of the status quo
But I'm afraid, my friend, that the answer's 'no',
The days of your youth will never return
Though your heart may ache and your spirit yearn -
It's a bitter cup that you'll have to drink
And it won't go away, whatever you think,
The story's over and the book has ended
And your broken heart will never be mended,
So say goodbye to the Good Old Days
But let your deepest sorrow be transformed to praise,
Praise for the times when you were glad
And gratitude for the love you had,
Not a song of resentment or a hapless curse
Must stain the integrity of your verse,
Whatever the outcome, you HAVE to sing,
So SMILE and accept what the future will bring!

Gone are the days

My days of happiness are gone
Im feeled with days of sadness
Ive got days of gloom.

I lived my life happy once upon a time.
Now I live life sad.
My feelings awol and my emotios numb

Now gone are the good days
Replaced by the bad ones.
I ve lost my love for life.
I hate the fight.

The happy days wont return yet
They wont come back any time soon.

Return Trip

I will return to my place of Birth
To that place before Mother Earth
I will return to that Day of Awakening
To that Day of a New Beginning

I will return to my very first Sun
My very first Moon, my very first Star
I will return to that place that never was far

I will return to the land of the Beautiful,
the Good, the Grateful
Where there is nothing to forgive
For there is no sin
Where there is no regret
Life is what you dream

Where Innocence is never put to test
Where all is Sacred and blessed with Happiness

I will return to my place and time of Birth
I will return
I am not Cursed

Toward The Moon and the Night (from, Spring Come Come)

Toward the moon and the night
The dreams will never come true
Shadows are up in their flight
For days to come and be of new
And the going pleasures are going
Filling up their empty woes
Without times spectacular glowing
This everywhere through here flows

Yesterdays are in their dreaming
Full in their every lost space
We were just with them all streaming
Filling out own wandering ways
But everything is always ending
Giving us seldom a new return
Wills of our thoughts bending
And from them we all must learn

Toward the days of past light
When there were roads to find out
What was to become of wrong or right
When everything was here about
And our days are all leaving
Without a return from gone past
With their moments just briefing
Some will though through time last

Choice Days To Live

Pending are,
Those choice days to live.
None to repeat.
None wished to relive...
Just for the benefit of it!

And I sit reminiscing,
All that I've missed.
When happiness had,
I let slip away to dismiss.

Pending are,
Days of joy to return.
Holidays I spent...
With those who shared their sentiments.
Remembering days of youth,
Like a flash of light that has passed.
Now I'm left to wonder...
How many choice days I get to pick,
Do I really have...
To treasure and choose as I wish.

Days Without You

Days without you that come along
are days that are too damned long.
They move too slow.
I hear every tick.
The clock is no friend.
Why can't it tick quick?

Days without you make me afraid
that these days might last forever.
That thought is carried in my heart.
It's like a prying lever.

Can it lift this heavy weight I feel?
Only when you return.
Just the thought of seeing you again
are the days for which I yearn.

There is an hour, a pensive hour

THERE is an hour, a pensive hour;
(And oh! how dear its soothing pow'r!)
It is, when twilight spreads her veil,
And steals along the silent dale;
'Tis when the fading blossoms close,
When all is silence and repose;
Then memory wakes, and loves to mourn,
For days—that never shall return!

There is a strain, a plaintive strain,
The source of joy and yet of pain;
It is the song, whose dying measure,
Some friend belov'd has heard with pleasure;
Some friend—who ne'er again may hear,
The melting lay, to memory dear;
Ah! then, her magic spells restore,
Visions of blissful days no more!

There is a tear of sweet relief,
A tear—of rapture and of grief;
The feeling heart alone can know
What soft emotions bid it flow!
It is when memory charms the mind,
With tender images refin'd;
'Tis when her balmy spells restore,
Departed friends, and joys no more!

Watching the Needleboats at San Sabba

I heard their young hearts crying
Loveward above the glancing oar
And heard the prairie grasses sighing:
No more, return no more!

O hearts, O sighing grasses,
Vainly your loveblown bannerets mourn!
No more will the wild wind that passes
Return, no more return.

Ive Seen Better Days

The sun is shining down
Theres not one cloud around
Morning hits me
Where I lay
Everything was green
A perfect day it seems
Yeah hes got everything his way
Oh but Ive seen better days
Ive seen better days
Chorus:
When the rain was pouring down
And he had his loving arms wrapped around me
Ive seen better days
The neighbors come and go
They smile and wave hello
And all the kids are out to play
Lollipops and good times
They look so much like mine
But he has taken mine away
Oh and Ive seen better days
Lord Ive seen better days
Repeat chorus
Oh lord I miss em
Ive seen better days

God Has Given Me/So Many Days

GOD HAS GIVEN ME/ SO MANY DAYS
BIRTHDAY POEM AT SIXTY- SEVEN AND ONE- HALF YEARS OF AGE

G-d has given me
So many days
Like this
So many days of blessing
So many days
Of cold autumn rain
Of fresh wind
And fading falling leaves
Whose color still says Beauty from them.
God has given me so so much
In this life
Thank G-d for this world
And that I am still alive in it.

These Are The Days

Ah ah
Heres a song
About living in the past
If it was so good then
How come it didnt last?
If it helps you
Ill put it in a phrase
Those were the times
But these are the days
These are the days
These are the days
These are the days
These are the days
These are the days
The times youre smiling back on
Had that great sitcom
It hardly compensated
For the terror of the bomb
Let me help
cause youre looking through a haze
Those were the times
These are the days
These are the days
Hey hey hey
These are the days
Can you hear me now?
These are the days
Look around look around look around
These are the days
These are the days
Hey hey live today
These are the days
Its time to put the past away
These are the days
The more you do the more you say
These are the days
The more I need to get away
Youre longing for a time
There never was
Now tell me the truth
Youre looking for the reason
Its because
Youre fighting for youth
But if I have to listen any more
To fantasy talk
Or any other bug you have
Im leaving
Now Im not saying
Everything is really great
Hey hey hey
After sixteen years
Of legalised class hate
Why waste time
Looking back for things to praise?
Those were the times huh
But these are the days
These are the days
Looking back in history
These are the days
Time to get contempory
These are the days
The past is not the place to be

The Recall

I am the land of their fathers,
In me the virtue stays.
I will bring back my children,
After certain days.

Under their feet in the grasses
My clinging magic runs.
They shall return as strangers.
They shall remain as sons.

Over their heads in the branches
Of their new-bought, ancient trees,
I weave an incantation
And draw them to my knees.

Scent of smoke in the evening,
Smell of rain in the night--
The hours, the days and the seasons,
Order their souls aright,

Till I make plain the meaning
Of all my thousand years--
Till I fill their hearts with knowledge,
While I fill their eyes with tears.

A Sail along the blue waters

Combed back the wavy black, so ebony hair,

Dims, as the silvery look appears, amazingly I stare.

Seeing you mature from nineteen to a sixty four.

Sharing the good and the bad, memories galore.

A garden of roses, the thorns, the fragrance of love.

A blessing from the wonderful heavens above.

The many birthdays, seasons, drifted by so swiftly.

As the hands of time moved on cold and insensitively.

Now oh so many candles and a cake rather small..

Another year of experience for you to recall.

Gonna be a simple celebration to bring in the light.

For another many years of journey to your delight.

Enjoy the blue waters under Gods glorious radiant sun.

Laughter happiness and days filled with real fun.

let the past make you a future so easy and splendid.

With days special that no mind or heart can ever rid.

May all your dear wishes, dreams turn to reality.

With a road paved for days of everlasting serenity.

Happy Birthday may today open the many a smiles

A pleasant sail and every dawning so worth while.

Soon one of us will bow out to the angels call.

To the land of no return we go, that heavenly hall.

Till then enjoy yourself with every sunrise sunset.

May God Almighty give you good health, with no regret! !
