Morgan's Dog
Morgan the drover explained,
As he drank from his battered quart-pot,
Many a slut I have trained;
This is the best of the lot.
Crossing these stringybark hills,
Hungry and rocky and steep
This is the country that kills
Weakly and sore-footed sheep.
Those that are healthy and strong
Battle away in the lead,
Carting the others along,
Eating the whole of the feed.
That's where this little red slut
Shows you what's bred in the bone;
Works it all out in her nut,
Handles it all on her own.
Backwards and forwards she'll track,
Gauging the line at a glance,
Keeping the stronger ones back,
Giving the tailers a chance.
Weary and hungry and lame,
Sticking all day to her job,
Thin as a rabbit, but game,
Working in front of the mob.
Tradesmen, I call 'em, the dogs,
Those that'll work in a yard;
Bark till they're hoarser than frogs,
Makin' 'em savage and hard.
Others will soldier and shirk
While there's a rabbit to hunt:
This is an artist at work;
Watch her -- out there -- in the front.

I, The Soldier
I killed a man today, did not know his name
I did not know his history, I am the one to blame
I searched his pocket for grenades and guns
Found a photo of his three little children having fun
His body is lying there still and cold, no breath of air
I look in his eyes, I am not allowed to ask if it's fair
But I have to be strong because I am a soldier at front
And I fight for my countrymen and I am a part of this man hunt
I am glad I am alive and I am longing to meet my wife
My child who must be waiting for me, they are my life
I wish I could hug them, cuddle them for eternity
Till I could feel the distance no more sneaking inside of me
But I have to be strong because I am a soldier at front
And I fight for my countrymen and I am a part of this man hunt
I have not seen my home for months and it is eating me inside
I have forgotten the taste of food and the looks of a butter knife
I am loaded with weapons and ammunitions push my shoulders down
But I have to walk, for my country, for my state, for my town
We don't sleep sound at night with the fears of confrontation
Now my rifle is my body part and bullets are my bourbon
But I have to be strong because I am a soldier at front
And I fight for my countrymen and I am a part of this man hunt
I don't want to kill anybody, it haunts me
At night I can feel their spirit, hallucinations I see
I look in the mirror and see only blood and corpses around
The cries of widows and orphans is the only sound
The nights are scary with in my sleep deprived eyes
The days are frightening trying to save what's left of my life
But I have to be strong because I am a soldier at front
And I fight for my countrymen and I am a part of this man hunt
I do this for my country but when I will be back
No one thanks me, there is no one to pat my back
They don't realize the nights I have lost so they could sleep
The wounds I have endured so that they could have treats
They don't see the picture, they are just happy for a movie
When hundred lost lives so that they can be free
I begin to wonder, if it is really overrated to be a soldier
The picture must be worth a thousand words and much bigger
I wonder who am I, what am I doing away from home, my home
But I fight, because I am a soldier, a protector of the prone
I am the righteous protecting what is right and worthy of dying for
I live for my family, I die for my country, my men, my corps.

All Day
Well Im hiding my eyes from the morning sun
And I keep on working till the work is all done
But a voice in my head keeps ticking away
As the sweats hosed down from yet another day
Well he works hard
And he lives hard
And he breaks his back without nothing to gain
While the boss man sits around and drinks champagne
All day (you work and you work and you work and)
In life, theres just one transition
All day (you work and you work and you work and)
In life, theres just one decision
Well Im peeling the blisters off my working hand
Is that what it takes to make you understand?
That its something you read, not something you meant
To be slaving away without a shred of integrity
He worked hard
And he lived hard
And he broke his back without nothing to say
While the man in control was just laughing away
All day (you work and you work and you work and)
In life, theres just one transition
All day (you work and you work and you work and)
In life, theres just one decision
Was it something you read?
Was it something you meant?
Was it something you said?
Or was it heaven sent?
All day (you work and you work and you work and)
In life, theres just one transition
All day (you work and you work and you work and)
In life, theres just one decision

Saltbush Bill
Now is the law of the Overland that all in the West obey --
A man must cover with travelling sheep a six-mile stage a day;
But this is the law which the drovers make, right easily understood,
They travel their stage where the grass is bad, but they camp where the grass is good;
They camp, and they ravage the squatter's grass till never a blade remains.
Then they drift away as the white clouds drift on the edge of the saltbush plains:
From camp to camp and from run to run they battle it hand to hand
For a blade of grass and the right to pass on the track of the Overland.
For this is the law of the Great Stock Routes, 'tis written in white and black --
The man that goes with a travelling mob must keep to a half-mile track;
And the drovers keep to a half-mile track on the runs where the grass is dead,
But they spread their sheep on a well-grassed run till they go with a two-mile spread.
So the squatters hurry the drovers on from dawn till the fall of night,
And the squatters' dogs and the drovers' dogs get mixed in a deadly fight.
Yet the squatters' men, thought they haunt the mob, are willing the peace to keep,
For the drovers learn how to use their hands when they go with the travelling sheep;
But this is the tale of a Jackaroo that came from a foreign strand,
And the fight that he fought with Saltbush Bill, the King of the Overland.
Now Saltbush Bill was a drover tough as ever the country knew,
He had fought his way on the Great Stock Routes from the sea to the big Barcoo;
He could tell when he came to a friendly run that gave him a chance to spread,
And he knew where the hungry owners were that hurried his sheep ahead;
He was drifting down in the Eighty drought with a mob that could scarcely creep
(When the kangaroos by the thousand starve, it is rough on the travelling sheep),
And he camped one night at the crossing-place on the edge of the Wilga run;
"We must manage a feed for them here," he said, "or half of the mob are done!"
So he spread them out when they left the camp wherever they liked to go,
Till he grew aware of a Jackaroo with a station-hand in tow.
They set to work on the straggling sheep, and with many a stockwhip crack
The forced them in where the grass was dead in the space of the half-mile track;
And William prayed that the hand of Fate might suddenly strike him blue
But he'd get some grass for his starving sheep in the teeth of that Jackaroo.
So he turned and cursed the Jackaroo; he cursed him, alive or dead,
From the soles of his great unwieldly feet to the crown of his ugly head,
With an extra curse on the moke he rode and the cur at his heels that ran,
Till the Jackaroo from his horse got down and went for the drover-man;
With the station-hand for his picker-up, though the sheep ran loose the while,
They battled it out on the well-grassed plain in the regular prize-ring style.
Now, the new chum fought for his honour's sake and the pride of the English race,
But the drover fought for his daily bread with a smile on his bearded face;
So he shifted ground, and he sparred for wind, and he made it a lengthy mill,
And from time to time as his scouts came in they whispered to Saltbush Bill --
"We have spread the sheep with a two-mile spread, and the grass it is something grand;
You must stick to him, Bill, for another round for the pride of the Overland."
The new chum made it a rushing fight, though never a blow got home,
Till the sun rode high in the cloudless sky and glared on the brick-red loam,
Till the sheep drew in to the shelter-trees and settled them down to rest;
Then the drover said he would fight no more, and gave his opponent best.
So the new chum rode to the homestead straight, and told them a story grand
Of the desperate fight that he fought that day with the King of the Overland;
And the tale went home to the Public Schools of the pluck of the English swell --
How the drover fought for his very life, but blood in the end must tell.
But the travelling sheep and the Wilga sheep were boxed on the Old Man Plain;
'Twas a full week's work ere they drafted out and hunted them off again;
A week's good grass in their wretched hides, with a curse and a stockwhip crack
They hunted them off on the road once more to starve on the half-mile track.
And Saltbush Bill, on the Overland, will many a time recite
How the best day's work that he ever did was the day that he lost the fight.

Carrot before rabbit
Carrot gets value in front of a rabbit
And the rabbit wets its tongue, pursuing.
Once bitten, Carrot loses its value.
The distance generates value and saliva
Woman keeping men at an arm length values

The rabbit is significant in that the handle on the original South Pointing Chariot was carved in the form of a rabbit. Because the handle extended out front it meant that wherever the rabbit went the chariot had to follow.

My Dog Named Cat
Spring of life, so much like the flowers in the garden, or the leaves on The mighty oak tres, all blooming, all turning green, as days go by,
My dog and I, we used to run free together, through the fields of corn, Down the country lanes, so happy we were, me and my dog named Cat;
When rabbits crossed our path, we chased them until our lungs were about to Burst, then we'd lie there upon the ground breathing in the fresh country Air, and nowhere on earth, was there a happier place;
Summer, the body of life, when all is happening so fast it makes your head Spin, hot days, warm nights, when the sun and stars seem so very close, When maturity sets in on a child's dream on a puppy's playful days;
With work to be done now, we're still together, me and my dog Cat, side by Side we walk through the fields, our eyes still glance for a trace of that Same rabbit;
When day is done, even though we're tired, we hurry back to take up the Chase, and maybe someday soon, we'll catch old rabbit, but I know, in both Of our hearts we hope we never will;
Fall, the Autumn of life, when things slow down, when hair turns gray, and Eye sight fades, when the memories are thought of, more often;
Me and my dog Cat, still walk the fields together, our old friend the Rabbit, is still with us, Cat's bark is growing weaker, and his legs just Aren't the same;
I limp along with them, and seem to keep up somehow, but I'm sure old Cat Sometimes slows down, just for me to catch up, we watch more sunsets now From the porch, than we ever did before;
Winter, the cold and lonely time of life, when sometimes things end, oh, The snow is beautiful to see, as it falls to earth, but the old days are Gone now, gone;
Old Cat doesn't walk with me anymore, when he died my tears fell on his Grave, even old rabbit was there to say goodbye;
I'm sure old rabbit won't be with me in Spring, I suppose I'll sit by the Fire and dream of those good times, memories of me, and my dog named Cat.

The Sheep
The Sheep adorns the landscape rural
And is both singular and plural—
It gives grammarians the creeps
To hear one say, 'A flock of sheeps.'
The Sheep is gentle, meek and mild,
And led in herds by man or child—
Being less savage than the rabbit,
Sheep are gregarious by habit.
The Sheep grows wool and thus promotes
The making of vests, pants and coats—
Vests, pants and coats and woolen cloths
Provide good food for hungry moths.
With vegetables added to
The Sheep, we get our mutton stew—
Experiments long since revealed
The Sheep should first be killed and peeled.
Thus, with our debt to them so deep,
All men should cry 'Praise be for Sheep!'—
And, if we happen to be shepherds,
'Praise be they’re not as fierce as leopards!'

The Mountain Squatter
Here in my mountain home,
On rugged hills and steep,
I sit and watch you come,
O Riverinia Sheep!
You come from the fertile plains
Where saltbush (sometimes) grows,
And flats that (when it rains)
Will blossom like the rose.
But when the summer sun
Gleams down like burnished brass,
You have to leave your run
And hustle off for grass.
'Tis then that -- forced to roam --
You come to where I keep,
Here in my mountain home,
A boarding-house for sheep.
Around me where I sit
The wary wombat goes --
A beast of little wit,
But what he knows, he knows.
The very same remark
Applies to me also;
I don't give out a spark,
But what I know, I know.
My brain perhaps would show
No convolutions deep,
But anyhow I know
The way to handle sheep.
These Riverina cracks,
They do not care to ride
The half-inch hanging tracks
Along the mountain side.
Their horses shake with fear
When loosened boulders go
With leaps, like startled deer,
Down to the gulfs below.
Their very dogs will shirk,
And drop their tails in fright
When asked to go and work
A mob that's out of sight.
My little collie pup
Works silently and wide;
You'll see her climbing up
Along the mountain side.
As silent as a fox
You'll see her come and go,
A shadow through the rocks
Where ash and messmate grow.
Then, lost to sight and sound
Behind some rugged steep,
She works her way around
And gathers up the sheep;
And, working wide and shy,
She holds them rounded up.
The cash ain't coined to buy
That little collie pup.
And so I draw a screw
For self and dog and keep
To boundary-ride for you,
O Riverina Sheep!
And, when the autumn rain
Has made the herbage grow,
You travel off again,
And glad -- no doubt -- to go.
But some are left behind
Around the mountain's spread,
For those we cannot find
We put them down as dead.
So, when we say adieu
And close the boarding job,
I always find a few
Fresh ear-marks in my mob.
And, what with those I sell,
And what with those I keep,
You pay me pretty well,
O Riverina Sheep!
It's up to me to shout
Before we say good-bye --
"Here's to a howlin' drought
All west of Gundagai!"

Nothing good ever lasts...
To be able to remain just still and enjoy beauty without trying to edit it or change it; reveals the world's true beauty. I remember walking quietly once, one very hot spring morning by the railway through the wild orchards in Dogwoods, Knutsford. Resting there on a storm drain-grid, I was just catching my breath when minutes later. I saw a baby rabbit poke its head out of a rabbit hole in the brambles it was 2ft in front of me. It was then he or she was pushed outside by their sisters or brothers.
They rolled around in front me and were toy fighting till the 11.20am Chester train went on by,
The only pity for me was the train was on time, came by so fast… nothing good ever lasts.

Let Us Be Friendly With Everybody!
Rabbit and Tortoise
Went for a race;
Envy villain rabbit
Threw the stone at Hero Rabbit;
Hero Rabbit's leg got broken,
Limping Rabbit couldn't run fast!
Hero Rabbit lost the match,
This is how Tortoise won the race.
Lesson is, 'Don't have enmity'
Let us be friendly with everybody!

I Don't Wanna Work
Well i give it little care
Does anybody out there even know
I'm in here?
I just keep my movement going
Somewhere
Like playing in the background baby
Like playing in the background baby
I play the game
You play the way that most men would choose
I'm surprised at you
Way back in the middle of a broken down love affair
You and i found each other
And we fell in love
I ain't never met a man and woman get along better
Than you and i when get together
Still i say
I don't wanna work that hard
I don't wanna work that hard
Don't wanna work that hard
I don't wanna work that hard
Don't wanna work that hard
I don't wanna work that hard
Not if it makes me cry
No no
See the lady walking down the street
She's got on high heel shoes
And her hair full of curlers
She's got stiletto nails
And some black mascara
She's got a push up and a pick up
I tell you that girl's working overtime
I don't wanna work that hard
I don't wanna work that hard
I don't wanna work that hard
Don't wanna work that hard
I don't wanna work that hard
Not if it makes me cry
No no no no no no
I don't wanna work
I don't wanna work that hard
I don't wanna work it if makes me cry
Spent last night
Talking to myself in bed
Wondering why i do this over
Over and over again
I don't know
I, i, i, i don't wanna work that hard
I don't wanna work that hard
Not when it makes me cry
I don't wanna work that hard
I don't wanna work not that hard
I don't wanna work it it makes me cry
I don't wanna work that hard
I don't wanna work not that hard
I don't wanna work if it makes me cry

I'm Not Going Hungry
I'm not going hungry anymore
Your sweet love's what I've been hungry for
But since we locked our hearts together now my table set forever
I'm not going hungry anymore.
Happiness is where you are and that's all I need to know
I'm gonna plant a tree of love and just sit back and watch it grow
I'm giving loving everything I've got I'm striking while the iron is hot
I'm not going hungry anymore.
I'm giving loving everything I've got I'm striking while the iron is hot
I'm not going hungry anymore
I'm not going hungry anymore.

Maid
After a decade
Of housekeeping
When housework
Seemed like
Clock-work
Never-ending
The more you
Clean
The more
It piles up
For
Another
Clean…
I finally have a
Maid
Who helps me
Every week.
A luxury
I couldn't
Afford
In the past
Years
As the
Cost of
Living
In the UK
Is so high.
Now,
That she
Takes care
Of my
Home
And I
Pay her
Well -
For all the
Cleaning…
I should
Feel happy,
Shouldn't I?
I have more
Time…
For myself
And my
Family.
But why
Do I
Feel so
Guilty?
The Work
I didn't
Like doing
She does it
All for the
Money
She needs
To feed
Her family
Of four
Children.
The mother
In me
Doesn't
Quite
Relish
Seeing
This -
Another
Mother
Work
So hard
And do
Odd jobs
Such as
Cleaning
People's
Toilets
And baths.
We find it
So uneasy
To clean
Our own.
Money
Makes
A slave of you
You like it
Or not,
To feed
Four
Hungry
Bellies,
You have to
Clean
Other people's
Homes.
The Question
Remains:
Should I be
Feeling
Happy
About
Giving her
Employment
And giving
Myself
Some respite
From the
Daily
Drudgery
Of house-keeping?
Or should I be
Feeling uneasy
About the fact
That she's also
A woman like me
A mother like me
A human like me
Yet she works
So hard for
Money…
The kind of jobs
I would abhor
To do…
She does it
With a smile
To keep her
Employers
Happy…
As she knows
If she
Loses her
Job, her
Children
Will be so
Unhappy.

The Rabbit Hole
How deep does the rabbit hole go?
Too many people don't want to know.
They're afraid they might come upon
something not so nice.
Isn't it easier to just skate
over very thin ice?
No worries, no frets of any kind,
it's much more comfortable for the mind.
Don't look left. Don't look right,
just straight ahead is what's in their sight.
Now take the ones whose heads can turn,
they are the people whose minds do yearn
to see how deep the rabbit hole goes?
What they will find will surely expose
Why we are filled with insecurity?
What's at the bottom of inequality?
Why some never have prosperity?
And so much more will come to light
and these are the brave that will take up the fight
and try to fill the rabbit hole
so the complacent ones who pay the toll
might have a chance to save their soul.
Now rabbit holes are dug deeper each day
by the power that wants you to have no say.
They want control over all that you are.
They will do all they can to block the star
that shines for you on every night.
They would love to keep you away from that sight.
For then they've got you and your soul
deep in the bowels of the rabbit hole.

Rabid Child
Lord, please dont take me away.
Rabid child stays at home, talks on a cb
Truckers pass calling out their handles to the kid
Chess piece face and the big duluth call her every day
Hammer down and rabbit ears are the only words they know
Hammer down
Hammer down, rabbit ears
Hammer down, rabbit ears
Hammer down, rabbit ears, hammer down
If you pass the rabid child say hammer down for me
The rabid child
The rabid child
The rabid child

It takes a hard workin lover
To keep on towin the line

Well, we work all day
And we dont know why
Well, theres just one thing that money cant buy
When your bodys been starved feed your appetite
When you work all day, you gotta uh! all night
Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, whoo
Take me to the jungle, honey

Feed your appetite (dont need no money)
When you work all day, you gotta uh! all night (comin home, yeah)
Well, we work all day
And we dont know why
Well, theres just one thing that money cant buy
When you bodys been starved, feed your appetite

I keep no dogs.
He keeps dogs and feed them.
As he wants them to wag.
He loves them for his sway
On them to make them bark.
I keep no dogs to feed.
I don’t need them to wag.
I don’t need them to bark either.
Must I be worse than one keeping dogs?

Hungry Like The Wolf
in touch with the ground
I'm on the hunt I'm after you
smell like I sound I'm lost in a crowd
and I'm hungry like the wolf
straddle the line in discord and rhyme
I'm on the hunt I'm after you
mouth is alive with juices like wine
and I'm hungry like the wolf
stalked in the forest too close to hide
I'll be upon you by the moonlight side
do do do do do do do dodo dododo dodo
high blood drumming on your skin it's so tight
you feel my heart I'm just a moment behind
do do do do do do do dodo dododo dodo
in touch with the ground
I'm on the hunt I'm after you
scent and a sound I'm lost and I'm found
and I'm hungry like the wolf
strut on a line it's discord and rhyme
I howl and I whine I'm after you
mouth is alive all running inside
and I'm hungry like the wolf
hungry like the wolf
hungry like the wolf
hungry like the wolf
buring the ground I break from the crowd
I'm on the hunt I'm after you
I smell like I sound I'm lost and I'm found
and I'm hungry like the wolf
strut on a line it's discord and rhyme
I'm on the hunt I'm after you

and I'm hungry like the wolf

Twisted Logic
Sunlight opened up my eyes
to see for the first time
it opened them up
And tonight rivers will run dry
and not for the first time
rivers will run
Hundreds of years in the future
there could be computers
looking for life on earth
Don't fight for the wrong side
say what you feel like
say how you feel
You'll go backwards
but then
you'll go forwards
again
You'll go backwards
but then
you'll go
Created... then drilled and invaded
If somebody made it
Someone will mess it up
And you are not wrong to
Ask who does this belong to
It belongs to one of us
You'll go backwards
but then
you'll go forwards
and then
you'll go backwards
again
you'll go forwards
You'll go backwards
but then
you'll go forwards
again
You'll go backwards
but then
you'll go forwards
Ahhhhhhhhhh...
