Tide of emotions

Water is safe
Its a safe haven
For me.
As water washes over.
It can wash away a few
Of my daily struggles.
If only for a while.

In the sea
Along come the waves
In with the tide.
As the tide goes back out
So do my emotions.

Only now the tide
Is coming back in
Following are my emotions
Which I desperatly
Try to lose.

The tide is good
When it is out
Its good for me

Only when it comes back in
Back come my emotions.
Like a storm at sea.

My Boy Jack

1914-1918

'Have you news of my boy Jack?'
Not this tide.
'When d'you think that he'll come back?'
Not with this wind blowing, and this tide.
'Has anyone else had word of him?'
Not this tide.
For what is sunk will hardly swim,
Not with this wind blowing and this tide.
'Oh, dear, what comfort can I find?'
None this tide,
Nor any tide,
Except he did not shame his kind-
Not even with that wind blowing, and that tide.
Then hold your head up all the more,
This tide,
And every tide;
Because he was the son you bore,
And gave to that wind blowing and that tide!

To parents

Come back, swim back… I need you…

When I stood a child upon the seashore
waving through the tears as first
the one and then the other
was taken by the tide until
no longer visible in that dark sea
too vasty to be thought about…

then turned, and ran back up the beach
to meet and greet my life..

that was, as it was; but now
I run back to the water’s edge
shouting come back... I never knew you,
I’m grown up now, I want to meet you,
ask you all the things I never asked,
tell you all the things I never dared,
look you in your fierce, sad eyes…

come back, swim back, I need you,
for I’m grown up now; I can love you
without restraint; give love not ask for it…

or must I wait, until the tide
laps feet, then knees, then heart, then sight…
to join you in that dark unknownness which
may be, may be, an even greater love
than that which stands here at the water’s edge
as the evening water darkens,
shouting swim back, swim back…

Wash

Sand slowly sinks between your toes as you walk down to the water.
You hear the sound of the waves moving back and forth as you get closer.

You feel the water hitting your feet as the tide goes up and down.
The water feels refreshing like you are being washed away of your past and pain.

Each day we are given a new day as we wake up.
So each day refresh yourself and wash away your yesterday.

By saying today is a new day and good things will happen to knock my bad away.

Even With My Eyes Closed

Even with my eyes closed
Funny, how I know
Its harder, its harder now
Young girl
In my young girl days
Thinking I could live for always
But like an ocean tide
Im drawn back inside
And I know
Seasons pass
Like sand inside a glass
And nothing, nothing returns
Standing with the friends Ive made
Ill race them to the grave
Well, who won, who won the extra days?
But like an ocean tide
Im drawn back inside
Like an ocean tide
Drawn back inside
And I know
When you take away the years toll
On the waters wide, shallow high and low
In the autumn sky
Happy to know Im going home
Even with my eyes closed
Funny, how I know
Its finally, has it finally begun?
An ocean tide (whoa)
Im drawn back inside
But like an ocean tide (whoa)
Im drawn back inside
And I know
And I know
And I know

Cave in a Crumbling Cliff

Plash and boom of waves in cave
A door padlocked in vain
Steps lead down or up
And pebbles crunch
Under waves, under seaboots
And old dreams

You would live there
If your corpse didn't drag you off

The hearth and love
Pull and pull against
Oars along the heaving edge
Into an age when miners camped down there
Safe in huts like shepherds on the cold high moor
Or lobsters in crevices
beyond the broken wave
beyond the need to be
anything but yourself

The peace and rhythms there
rescue hearts
by the serenade of dark grey water
kissing cliff - tide of light and lost world
that pulls and pulls by the dead man's gate
by Velvet Isle to Manhaven Bay:

a boat to carry on your back
a shell against the songs of crumbling
and the scar on your chest
and the tide of time

I saw you from my crumbling edge
and rowed with you
as far as the mind would travel
and the wind forgive
and cannot go back
or never leave.

Tide Rises, the Tide Falls, The

The tide rises, the tide falls,
The twilight darkens, the curlew calls;
Along the sea-sands damp and brown
The traveler hastens toward the town,
And the tide rises, the tide falls.
Darkness settles on roofs and walls,
But the sea, the sea in darkness calls;
The little waves, with their soft, white hands
Efface the footprints in the sands,
And the tide rises, the tide falls.
The morning breaks; the steeds in their stalls
Stamp and neigh, as the hostler calls;
The day returns, but nevermore
Returns the traveler to the shore.
And the tide rises, the tide falls.

A person has three choices in life. You can swim against the tide and get exhausted, or you can tread water and let the tide sweep you away, or you can swim with the tide, and let it take you where it wants you to go.

Crimson Tide

I wake up in the morning
I see the bright sunshine
O Lord, let be so good
A day to reckon with
I wish the day would speed by
To be with you
O Crimson Tide

O Crimson Tide
I need you my Lady
Come on Crimson Tide
I need you my sweet Lady

Here comes the sunset
Here comes my own sunshine
O Lord let be so good
My day I've reckoned with
I wish the night would slow down
Never to leave you
O Crimson Tide

O Crimson Tide
I need you my Lady
Come on Crimson Tide
I need you my sweet Lady

0012 'Only one life was lost in this disaster

The water’s not so deep
down here, it’s still stirred
on the sea-bed by the off-shore tide.
The seaweed waves in slow rhythm, almost gracefully.

Sometimes a crab, going somewhere not apparent
with laborious stubborn intent
displaces very slightly the bone-white skeleton
lying on its back, almost relaxed, almost temporary,
as if waiting for time to give some signal
to turn those stark claws back into a son’s hands

or the current turns a few degrees the eyeless head,
the young jaw, as a light sleeper
in a dream, submissive to the tide;

peaceful; down here
in this filtered light
death, grief, tears, a mother's memories
seem unknown, have no place.

Losing Track

Long after you have swung back
away from me
I think you are still with me:

you come in close to the shore
on the tide
and nudge me awake the way

a boat adrift nudges the pier:
am I a pier
half-in half-out of the water?

and in the pleasure of that communion
I lose track,
the moon I watch goes down, the

tide swings you away before
I know I'm
alone again long since,

mud sucking at gray and black
timbers of me,
a light growth of green dreams drying.

Ebbs The Tide

How long I wait
out there to see your long face
each day and each day I come back
treading water it coming, it going out
either way, 'I know it moves quickly,
and some times, 'I grow restless, floating.

Saying that I would recognize the swells
above the water as your line is
and because of mine there below
I am trapped as well, under water
Ebbs the tide and the water does it move.

One, Two, No Free Ride.

One, two, their no such thing as free ride. So im just going with the tide. Just so i can swim back again. So many victims of circumstance and happenstance. Excuse me I'm just looking to get by. Women come and go. Nothing ever sticks. Guilt is just a heavy bag of bricks. I throw them to ground and keep moving on. One, two, their no such thing as a free ride. So I'm just going with the tide. Just so i can swim back again. Where is the need for forgiveness if we just live and let live. Every day I cross that bridge. One by one the planks go missing. And the only way back is gone. No time to regret or fret. Just build another. Its a system. you can work with or against it. But who even cares. One, two, their no such thing as free ride. So I'm just going with the tide. Just so i can swim back again. Money burns like you smoking them as cigarettes. The house you live in will be pillage and plundered in the event of your death. Makes you wonder. What is it all for. Well of course its because life is so very precious.

Our Tides

In morning’s light we fight tide’s rain
Struggling ourselves through the seering pain
Of the emotions wildly running through our brain
binding heart and mind,
and soul the same

Until we see upon that tide again
and a new beach is set awash
When In the midday we simply reach to grasp
and seize loves chances without glimpse to last

And then by tide of full moon bright
That sets it’s light in two paired minds
once more believing it’s alright
To not find out that we only yearn
and that there is nothing we have learned

We keep bad memories far behind
On that beach
and of that night
they are once more
Just blind

.

Waves of depression are at my shore

Waves of depression
Have come riding in with the tide.
Not as clear as the ocean.

Waves of depression
has arrived at my shore
Wanting to swallow me whole.

As the tide comes in
It will sweep me of my feet
And drag me out to sea

Just As The Tide Was A Flowing

[ music: traditional/lyric: arranged by 10,000 maniacs ]
On one morning
In the month of may
When all the birds
Were singing
I saw a lovely maiden stray
Across the fields at break of day
She softly sung her roundelay
The tide flows in
The tide flows out
Twice every day returning
Her cheeks were red
Her eyes were brown
Her hair in ringlets hanging down
Upon her face to hide the frown
Just as the tide was a flowing
The tide flows in
The tide flows out
Twice everyday returning
A sailors wife at home must bide
She halted heavily she sighed
He parted from poor me , a bride
Im widowed by the sea she cried
Just as the tide was a flowing
The tide flows in
The tide flows out
Twice every day returning

I Will Be There For You

I remember long ago
A foolish one that hurt you so
I was someone you need to know
Stay here tonight
Turn back the tide
You've got to shine on my life again
I just need a second chance
To repair this circumstance
Stay here tonight
Turn back the tide
You've got to shine on my life again
Anything you want
Anything you need
I will be there for you
Every single day
Every little way
I will be there for you
Anything you need
I will be there for you
Every single day
Every little way
I will be there for you
I am so much wiser now
I live so fast I must slow down
Forget the past forgive me world
Stay here tonight
Turn back the tide
You?ve got to shine on my life again
Anything you want
Anything you need
I will be there for you
Every single day
Every little way
I will be there for you
Anything you need
I will be there for you
Every single day
Every little way
I will be there for you
It's not up to me
You have to believe
We must cross this sea alone
Did you ever know?
The day I let you go
I've been running on my own
On my own
Anything you want
Anything you need
I will be there for you
Every single day
Every little way
I will be there for you
Anything you need
I will be there for you
Every single day
Every little way
I will be there for you

Currents, Emotions, Oceans and Tides

In torrents of emotions
Are humans destined
To dwell

Thoughts but mental motions
Given to rise, tide
and swell

Of momentary madness
To tidal pools
of peace

To soothing waves
Of goodness…
Emotions without cease

Envy, anger,
jealousy,
Wonder

Riptides rising…
Then pulling
Us under

Torrents of emotion
Are of what our thoughts
Consist

A flood of feelings
We cannot
Resist

E'en in our sleep
The current
seems

To seep into
Our deepest
Dreams

We're naught
But helpless flotsam
Tossed

Adrift upon
Emotions hapless
Sea

Unknowing slaves
To reason
Lost

At least
So it seems…
To me
