Geotheos
As sweet as the look of a lover
Saluting the eyes of a maid
That blossom to blue as the maid
Is ablush to the glances above her,
The sunshine is gilding the glade
And lifting the lark out of shade.
Sing therefore high praises, and therefore
Sing songs that are ancient as gold,
Of earth in her garments of gold;
Nor ask of their meaning, nor wherefore
They charm as of yore, for behold!
The Earth is as fair as of old.
Sing songs of the pride of the mountains,
And songs of the strength of the seas,
And the fountains that fall to the seas
From the hands of the hills, and the fountains
That shine in the temples of trees,
In valleys of roses and bees.
Sing songs that are dreamy and tender,
Of slender Arabian palms,
And shadows that circle the palms,
Where caravans out of the splendor,
Are kneeling in blossoms and balms,
In islands of infinite calms.
Barbaric, O Man, was thy runing
When mountains were stained as with wine
By the dawning of Time, and as wine
Were the seas, yet its echoes are crooning,
Achant in the gusty pine
And the pulse of the poet's line.

Whoa, sing softly
Above the trees where billy breathes we float upon the air
Whoa, oh

Ooooh ooooh
Silent scenes in motion means, Ill wake you when were there

From A Distance
From a distance, the world looks blue and green,
And the snow capped mountains so white.
From a distance the ocean meets the stream,
And the eagle takes to flight.
From a distance, there is harmony
And it echoes through the land.
Its the voice of hope, its the voice of peace,
Its the voice of every man.
From a distance, we all have enough,
And no-one is in need.
There are no guns, no bombs and no disease
No hungry mouths to feed.
For a moment we must be instruments,
Martching in a common band,
Playing songs of hope, playing songs of peace,
Theyre is the songs of every one.
God is watching us, God is watching us,
God is watching us, from a distance.
From a distance, you look like my friend,
Even though we are at war.
From a distance, I cant comprehend,
What all this war is for.
What we need is love and harmony,
Let it echo through the land.
Its the hope of hopes, its the love of loves,
Its the heart of everyone.
Its the hope of hopes, its the love of loves,
Its the song of everyone.
Sing out, songs of hope,
Sing out, songs of freedom,
Sing out, songs of love,
Sing out, songs of peace,
Sing out, songs of justice,
Sing out, songs of harmony,
Sing out, songs of love,
Sing out, everyone,
Sing out, songs of hope,
Sing out, songs of freedom,
Sing out, songs of love,
Sing out, songs of peace,
Sing out, songs of justice,
Sing out, songs in harmony,
Sing out, sing about love,
Sing out, everyone.
Sing out.

Songs of Africa
on the rolling mountains
in the sprawling valleys
joyful songs in fountains
flowing down the gulleys
on the high seas and lands
hear the air is full of mirth
as birds wave their hands
adore the land of our birth
the children of Africa sing
with one new joyful voice
good tidings change bring
pageantry your new choice
make joyful sounds Africa
from the lark voices borrow
sad songs are over in Africa
sing no more songs of sorrow
years of dread and plunder
are forgotten in forgiveness
the gentle breeze in blunder
sweeps bitter with happiness
gone are the days of dirges
its time to burry old hatchets
its time to take new pledges
spin new progressive ratchets
joyful songs break Jericho walls
sad ending is a happy beginning
see your yoke of drudgery falls
see your past glories regaining

A Happy Song...
Sing me no sad songs cause my hearts
been broken too many times and I've cried
myself asleep too many nights.
Sing me no sad songs cause they bring
back all the hurt and all the memories that
I'm tryin' to forget.
Sing me no sad songs cause I'm feelin'
low and those songs just keep me down.
They keep me from smiling or seein' the sun.
Sing me no sad songs, cause I'm tryin' to
raise myself up and lookin' for a feel
good song and a feel good smile.
Sing me no sad songs cause they chase away
all the stuff that's good in life. Those sad songs...
they always make my brown eyes blue and lock
the door on love and such.
Baby...sing me no sad songs, just hold me and
sing softly...the songs of love and the songs of hope.
If I live to be a hundred I never want to hear those
bad feelin' sad songs again.

Sing to Me Your Love Songs
Sing to me your love songs.
And I will sing to you,
No blues of those experiences...
I've seen and have lived through.
Sing to me those love songs sung,
And I will sing to you...
Of a love I knew.
With no lasting harmony,
Starting in the beginning when it begun.
I wish, I do...
Since meeting you,
I could begin with a freshness...
Clear of heartbreak,
That seemed to pain as it grew.
I wish, I do...
I could be free,
Of long lasting memories.
That come to haunt...
As in pursuit,
To destroy me emotionally.
Sing!
Sing to me your love songs.
And I'll sing to you...
Of no sorrows I knew.
Sing!
Sing to me of those love songs...
I've been needing desperately.
Don't stop if from eyes tears drop.
This may be the start...
Of pushing old pains kept away.
Sing to me your love songs sweet...
I feel a presence,
Of something wanted I need to stay!

Psalm 65
You raised up the mountains
And filled the mighty seas
The valley's clothed with splendor
Men fall down upon their knees
You crown the years with goodness
And the valleys they do sing
The earth cries out and glorifies
Our Christ the risen King
So sing aloud ye mountains
Choirs of angels I can see
They glorify and lift their voice
Of how you set men free

The Realms Of Gold
(Written after hearing a line of Keats repeated by a passing stranger
under the palms of Southern California.)
Under the palms of San Diego
Where gold-skinned Mexicans loll at ease,
And the red half-moons of their black-pipped melons
Drop from their hands in the sunset seas,
And an incense, out of the old brown missions,
Blows through the orange trees;
I wished that a poet who died in Europe
Had found his way to this rose-red West;
That Keats had walked by the wide Pacific
And cradled his head on its healing breast,
And made new songs of the sun-burned sea-folk,
New poems, perhaps his best.
I thought of him, under the ripe pomegranates
At the desert's edge, where the grape-vines grow,
In a sun-kissed ranch between grey-green sage-brush
And amethyst mountains, peaked with snow,
Or watching the lights of the City of Angels
Glitter like stars below.
He should walk, at dawn, by the lemon orchards,
And breathe at ease in that dry bright air;
And the Spanish bells in their crumbling cloisters
Of brown adobe would sing to him there;
And the old Franciscans would bring him their baskets
Of apple and olive and pear.
And the mandolins, in the deep blue twilight,
Under that palm with the lion's mane,
Would pluck, once more, at his golden heart-strings,
And tell him the old sea-tales of Spain;
And there should the daughters of Hesperus teach him
Their mystical songs again.
Then, the dusk blew sweet over seas of peach-bloom;
The moon sailed white in the cloudless blue;
The tree-toads purred, and the crickets chirruped;
And better than anything dreamed came true;
For, under the murmuring palms, a shadow
Passed, with the eyes I knew;
A shadow, perhaps, of the tall green fountains
That rustled their fronds on that glittering sky,
A hungering shadow, a lean dark shadow,
A dreaming shadow that drifted by;
But I heard him whisper the strange dark music
That found it so 'rich to die.'
And the murmuring palms of San Diego
Shook with stars as he passed beneath.
The Paradise palms, and the wild white orchards,
The night, and its roses, were all one breath,
Bearing the song of a nightingale seaward,
A song that had out-soared death.

The Star
I HAD a star to sing by, a beautiful star that led,
But when I sang of its splendour the world in its wisdom said:
'Sweet are your songs, yet the singer sings but in madness when
He hymns but stars unbeholden of us his fellows of men;
Glow-worms we see and marshlights; sing us sweet songs of those
For the guerdons we have to give you, laurel and gold and rose;
Or if you must sing of stars, unseen of your brother man,
Go, starve with your eyes on your vision; your star may save if it can!'
So I said, 'If I starve and die I never again shall see
The glory, the high white radiance that hallows the world for me;
I will sing their songs, if it must be, and when I have golden store,
I will turn from the marsh and the glow-worms, and sing of my star once more.'
So I walked in the warm wet by-ways, not daring to lift my eyes
Lest love should drive me to singing my star supreme in the skies,
And the world cried out, 'We will crown him, he sings of the lights that are,
Glories of marshlight and glow-worms, not visions vain of a star!'
I said, 'Now my brows are laurelled, my hands filled full of their gold,
I will sing the starry songs that these earthworms bade withhold.
It is time to sing of my star!' for I dreamed that my star still shone,
Then I lifted my eyes in my triumph. Night! night! and my star was gone.

Heart Attack (a Sestina)
What angelic chorals sing?
These messengers of heaven
Whose words are none of earth
Rising like mists amid the mountains
Rolling down to pastoral valleys
Stirring my fragile heart
My sullen, throbbing heart
Mumbling, for it can't quite sing
Its beat more full of valleys
Than peaks toward heaven
I miss those tracings in the shape of mountains
Which anchor me to this earth
Sweet, sweet earth
How you fill my heart!
Your noble, snowy mountains
Rising proudly to sing
At the feet of heaven
I long to see your valleys
To lay again in flowered valleys
Smelling the rich, black earth
Of my own personal heaven
Heal you traitorous heart!
I long to shout, to sing
Echoing from the mountains
Where are my mountains?
My rolling valleys?
The monitor, its dirge to sing
Strengthening my tether to earth
Even as my woefully tired heart
Slips to heaven
To forestall heaven
I labor to move mountains
As a constellation of disks record my heart
Etching flat valleys
Confirming i am still of this earth
With only a beep to mournfully sing
Each lull-to heaven, then up from the valleys
Drawn back to mountains and earth
As I wait for my heart to once again sing

Port Isaac's Fishermen's Friends
Ten Cornishmen, of a mature age
Stand together, taking centre stage.
Singing together, in close harmony,
They sing out shanties of the sea.
Their voices are lifted loud in song;
They sing out proud; they sing out strong.
Each of the men knows his part,
And sings it out from his heart.
These men, who appear very down to earth,
Sing about Cornwall: the place of their birth.
They are hoping to keep the old songs alive;
Hoping that, forever, the old songs survive.
Amongst the group, there is much respect;
A real sense of camaraderie, you can detect.
Each man appears casual and very laid back,
But, of enthusiasm, there certainly is no lack.
They perform a long line of catchy songs:
The audience all clap and they sing along.
Everybody smiles and taps their feet:
They tap their toes to the steady beat.
These worthy winners in the world of Folk,
All enjoy a cool pint and sharing a joke.
Whether it's sunshine or whether it's rain,
This band of men will still entertain.
They do not put on any airs and graces:
These talented Cornishmen with wizened faces.
Some men sing high, while others sing low;
Between them, they cook up a brilliant show.
They sing great songs for over an hour:
They sing with spirit; they sing with power.
To many people, they have brought cheer,
And will continue to do so for many a year.

Song Of Songs
Sing me at morn but only with your laugh;
Even as Spring that laugheth into leaf;
Even as Love that laugheth after Life.
Sing me but only with your speech all day,
As voluble leaflets do; let viols die;
The least word of your lips is melody!
Sing me at eve but only your sigh!
Like lifting seas it solaceth; breathe so,
Slowly and low, the sense that no songs say.
Sing me at midnight with your murmurous heart!
Let youth's immortal-moaning chord be heard
Throbbing through you, and sobbing, unsubdued.

Honky Tonk Songs
Bartender wont you pour me a very strong drink
Just keep it coming till I dont have to think
And point out some cowboy that might want to dance
And make sure I get home if you see that I cant
You see I loved him, he left me for a girl half my age
I relate to each sad song that ole jukebox has played
I listen to haggard, ole hank, and george jones
But why dont more women sing honky tonk songs?
Chorus:
Why dont more women sing honky-tonk songs?
About the heartaches and the tough breaks
And the men thats done em wrong
There are others just like me that are hurtin to the bone
So why dont more women sing honky-tonk songs
Why dont more women sing honky tonk songs
Honky tonk angels are just queens without thrones
Judge not lest you be judged, who can cast the first stone
Why dont more women sing honky-tonk songs
Repeat 1st verse
(all you lonely women sing)
Why dont more women sing honky tonk songs
About the heartaches and the tough breaks
And all the men thats done us wrong
Theres a whole lotta women I know would sing along
So why dont more women sing honky tonk songs
Why dont more women sing honky tonk songs

Cowboys Delight
This song appears on two albums, and was first released on the windsong album, and has also been released on the country classics album.
Sing songs of the sunrise into the night
The stars as your timepiece, make it all right
Make friends with the darkness, talk to the moon
And when the light lifts, you can let out a tune
Ive been to the mountains, climbed through the sky
Shouldered their whiteness, watched their gold fly
Shared in their treasures, shook at their might
Spoke softly of wonders, cowboys delight
Sing songs of the sunrise into the night
A song of the mountain, cowboys delight
The stars as your timepiece will make it all right
Sing songs of the mountains, cowboys delight

Songs Of Freedom
Everybody tells me, we love your songs
Your soul is precious, but it just aint good enough
You need a single to help you through
Program directors, they all make the rules
I said, youre kidding, youre putting me on
What about the constitution, freedom of expression
Listen to the music, just feel the sound
Love is the motion, thats what makes the world go around
Sing, songs of freedom
Bring joy to the world
Sing, songs of freedom
Bring joy to the world
Everybody listen, stop and take some time
To understand the world situation
There is no meaning in fighting the way we do
Lets come together and forgive each other
Sing, songs of freedom
Bring joy to the world
Sing, songs of freedom
Bring joy to the world

Back Together Again
Hes back together again
Yeah evryone is glad that hes together again
Just like the old days, old days, old days
Yeah he could sing, he could sing, he could sing
Hes back together again
You know hes still got the moves
You know the grooves still there
Just like the old days old days, old days
Yeah he could sing, he could sing, listen to him sing
Back together again, back together again singing the same old story
Back together again, back together again
The old songs never end
Gives you something to believe in
Remember sixty-five
Well the kids are all grown up
But their records are still alive
Just like the old days, old days, old days
Yeah he could sing, he could sing, he could sing
Hes back riding high
The charts are full of love, hes on evrybodys dial
Just like the old days, old days, old days
Yeah he could sing, he could sing
Listen to him sing
Back together again, back together again singing the same old story
Back together again, back together again
The old songs never end
Thats you something to believe in
The old songs never end
Oh just listen to him sing
Back together again, back together again
Singing the same old story
Back together again, back together again
The old songs never end
And thats you something to believe in

Sing My Love
Sing to me my little flower
Sing me the songs of tenderness and love
Sing to me as you stare
Into this intricate and beautiful creation
Alone yet not alone
Comforted by the silent tingle of love
Flowing through my immensely proud hands
Sing to me my precious flower
Sing though you have yet to grasps the art of speaking
Sing to me my love
For soon I shall retire
Sing to me my precious flower
Sing me the songs of tenderness and love

Only You (Can Make My Heart Sing)
Only you, only you
Only you, only you can make my heart sing
Wasting ‘way days of the past
Wonderin’ where my life would go
So I worried ‘bout tomorrow
In a world so ready to blow
Only you, only you
Only you, only you can make my heart sing
Only you, only you
Only you, only you can make my heart sing
Use to write songs for the deaf
Songs about my pain and strife
Songs of hate and of confusion
Living death while thinking it life
Only you, only you
Only you, only you can make my heart sing
Then you’re holy spirit within me
Taught me truth of today
And what your lovin’ means and why I am here
I’m to serve you with all of my heart with all of my mind through your spirit dear
Only you, only you
Only you, only you can make my heart sing
Now is the time I contend with
Writing every song for you
Praising you for all you have given
Believing in your word of truth
Only you, only you
Only you, only you can make my heart sing
Only you, only you
Only you, only you can make my heart sing
Only you can make my heart sing
Yes, only you can make my heart sing
