Mother Earth

The sun slowly sinks below her golden borders
as darkness falls over all life form.

Tears of compassion spring up as she watches over her children: the
Squirrels and birds and the tiniest insects; her helpful angleworms
and worthless plants all lay sleeping on her tummy.

She reaches up to the sky, closes the golden gate, and
turns off the light.

Then, In infinite love and care, she
places her finger on her lips, and
orders silence everywhere.

She lay awake pondering
on the morrow.

Emily Dickinson

Nature, the gentlest mother,

Nature, the gentlest mother,
Impatient of no child,
The feeblest or the waywardest,
Her admonition mild

In forest and the hill
By traveller is heard,
Restraining rampant squirrel
Or too impetuous bird.

How fair her conversation,
A summer afternoon,--
Her household, her assembly;
And when the sun goes down

Her voice among the aisles
Incites the timid prayer
Of the minutest cricket,
The most unworthy flower.

When all the children sleep
She turns as long away
As will suffice to light her lamps;
Then, bending from the sky

With infinite affection
And infiniter care,
Her golden finger on her lip,
Wills silence everywhere.

When dusk creeps through the windows

When dusk creeps through the windows
with the big old oak tree etched against the sky,
the eastern horizon gleams outside,

the morning star hangs is a beacon that bridges the night,
while the golden moon fades away
with the big old oak tree etched against the sky

the night is driven away, chased
by the sun rising burning
while the golden moon fades away,

the morning is fresh like an unfolding flower
while the birds, the insects, the animals are woken
by the sun rising burning

with blinding white light, stretching out its rays
and I am getting awake
while the birds, the insects, the animals are woken

and the day has already belted its gleaming chord.
When dusk creeps through the windows
and I am getting awake
the eastern horizon gleams outside.

Spring!

Plants n’ insects await spring
Promised by a warming sun
Chipmunks chirp n’ robins sing
God looks on with admiration

May Day brings forth a fiery sun
All life reaches up in joy
The land is filled with animation
Spring restores what winter tried destroy

All creatures great n’ small now procreate
“Survival of the fittest” the only law
Spring rain falls, the Earth it doth refresh
Another cycle completes, without a flaw

Mother Earth has birthed another season
She questions not her role or God’s reasons

Golden Touch

Golden touch
I was broken till you came along
You put the words back into my song
In your world is where I now belong

Golden touch is it that I love you so much
I was lost till I met you
I now love everything you do
I live now just because of you

Golden touch
Your are the object of my desire
I am like a cat on a high wire
For you I would walk in front of gunfire

Golden touch
This to you I must confess
Your mind and body I want to possess
I long for you to kiss and caress

Golden touch my Liege
You are the key to my success
My love I can no longer suppress
You are a beautiful princess

Golden touch
To me I grant you total access
With you I feel no distress
You have driven me to total madness

Golden touch
No longer these thoughts I can suppress
With my eyes you I’ve undress
If the world would know I could care less

Golden touch
These words I wish to you to express
You’ve brought me out of my sadness
You’ve driven back the darkness
You are my goddess and my empress

Golden touch
I wasn’t quite right and you made me see the light
You are what I’ve been longing for
With your love I could never want more

Befire the Battle

By the hope within us springing,
Herald of to-morrow's strife;
By that sun, whose light is bringing
Chains or freedom, death or life --
Oh! remember life can be
No charm for him, who lives not free!
Like the day-star in the wave,
Sinks a hero in his grave,
'Midst the dew-fall of a nation's tears.

Happy is he o'er whose decline
The smiles of home may soothing shine,
And light him down the steep of years:
But oh, how blest they sink to rest,
Who close their eyes on victory's breast!

O'er his watch-fire's fading embers
Now the foeman's cheek turns white,
When his heart that field remembers,
Where we tamed his tyrant might.
Never let him bind again
A chain like that we broke from then.
Hark! the horn of combat calls --
Ere the golden evening falls,
May we pledge that horn in triumph round.

Many a heart that now beats high,
In slumber cold at night shall lie,
Nor waken even at victory's sound: --
But oh how blest that hero's sleep,
O'er whom a wondering world shall weep!

Dottie Stirs at Dawn

Dottie stirs as dawn light seeps
through the bedroom curtains;
Willie breathes deeply in his sleep.

Sammy, who had arrived with
her brother Willie the night before,
sleeps in the guest room along
the passage. She listens to the birds
singing from the garden, watches
as the seeping sunlight plays on
the duvet covers like mischievous
children. She is happy; Willie is back,
Sammy has arrived with his talk of
the city, his books, the poems, but
nothing of his wife or son or daughter.

They had been up late with talk and
laughter and she had studied Sammy,
and was, she admits to herself, a little
envious of his wife to have one such
as he, when maybe it ought, she feels,
to have been her. But she has Willie.

She will always have him. He stirs then
turns over. She watches his breathing,
how his hand lies on the duvet, his
fingers still, the nails just so, neat
and trimmed. She had missed him;
missed him being there, reciting his
poems, and she writing them down,
their walks, their laying under the trees
watching the sky, or by their small lake
studying the birds, the ducks, swans
or occasional dragonfly. She looks at
the bedside clock. She will make them
breakfast and a pot of tea and go
breathe in the morning air, remember
the night. Willie had kissed her eyelids
shut to help her sleep. She can still
feel his lips there. She runs a finger
along his arm, making a snail like
move as if along a leaf or flower top.

She has missed him so. The tears she
had shed. The laying awake those nights
he was away. The headaches, the bleeds,
the monthly curse. She pauses her finger.

She has reached his hand; she rests her
hand on his, lets it lay. Oh for a fresh
morning, she whispers, oh for a new day.

Her Golden Veil

She moves to kiss me from above,
her body over mine,
moves to brush back her hair,
to keep it from my face when,
stopping her hand,
I draw her closer and,
nearing me, her hair
falls around my head.
A curtain, golden, for us,
just her and me,
intensifying intimacy,
and concealing us,
just her and me,
in a golden dusk
that, as it closes,
disregards all the world,
but her and me.
Her face,
her lips,
her breath,
her mouth.
And me.

The Great Consolation

Jesus was moved to tears at the grave of Lazarus
He experience the agony the family felt
He remembered their loss
He was their great consolation
Into a dark tomb went the light
And looked with compassion upon his children
Their sorrows touched his heart
Jesus wept aloud and could have cried more
His human nature could not escape pain
Their pain he knew by the tears he was willing to share
And he gave to their troubled hearts the light of hope
He turns the darkness of death into a new dawn
Gave them strength to cope
And a more glorious light await
The sorrow of parting into the joy of heaven
They will meet again by the eternal gate
When the saints go marching in

In The Year That's Come and Gone

In the year that's come and gone, love, his flying feather
Stooping slowly, gave us heart, and bade us walk together.
In the year that's coming on, though many a troth be broken,
We at least will not forget aught that love hath spoken.

In the year that's come and gone, dear, we wove a tether
All of gracious words and thoughts, binding two together.
In the year that's coming on with its wealth of roses
We shall weave it stronger, yet, ere the circle closes.

In the year that's come and gone, in the golden weather,
Sweet, my sweet, we swore to keep the watch of life together.
In the year that's coming on, rich in joy and sorrow,
We shall light our lamp, and wait life's mysterious morrow.

A Family Reunion

And as I approach
the light, I pray my
FATHER
is there waiting for
me.

As he extends his
hand
I will carry the load.
Moving on with him,

We look toward the
silver sea.
standing on the
crystal shore is my
MOTHER.

As we approach her,
my family circle is
comming together.

Reaching for us, we
embrace.
Moving on, we continue
toward the golden gate.

There at the golden
gate waits my sweet
BROTHERS:
Young and handsome,
as they were in youth.

My eyes fill with tears,
I am overjoyed to see
them
They always took care
of sister.

ANGELS
appear, each carries
one of our little
BABIES.
In life great our sorrow.

I am thrilled to know
ANGELS
attended to them for
us.
The circle is complete
A family reunion has
begun.

Kathleen

'Going out there is no other
coming back there is no trace'.
Love and care for one another,
Smooth the sadness from her face.

Like Orestes how she travels!
Light-foot ever, onward roams;
as the skein of life unravels,
everywhere she makes her homes.

Loves she keeps in golden cages,
(LOVE she smiles at from afar) ,
turns (with smiles) her golden pages
(climbs her grass blade to her star) .

Still the sadness does not leave her
though she smiles and smiles again
and her gladness like a fever
is shadowed round with wisps of pain.

'Going out there is no other
coming back there is no trace.'
(Love and care for one another;
smooth the sadness from her face.)

Like Eurydice she lingers
where Pluto reigns as King of Shades
while Orpheus touches gentle fingers
and her sunshine slowly fades.

A Song Of Spring

The Spring comes slowly up this way,
Slowly, slowly,
Under a snood of hodden grey.

The black and white for her array,
Slowly, slowly,
The Spring comes slowly up this way.

Where is her green that was so gay?
Slowly, slowly,
The Spring comes slowly up this way.

Unto a world too sick for May,
Slowly, slowly,
The Spring comes slowly up this way.

Where are the lads that used to play?
Slowly, slowly,
The Spring comes slowly up this way.

She has no heart for holiday,
Slowly, slowly,
The Spring comes slowly up this way.

The trees are out in Heaven they say.
Slowly, slowly,
The Spring comes slowly up our way.

Life Is King

Lifes a garden
Life is king
Life is all
And everything
Life is golden
Life is fair
Like a rainbow in your hair
Lifes a once fantastic light
Life is shining in the night
Lifes a fire from above
Life is you
And life is love
Life is golden
Life is king
Life is all and everything
Nothing to believe in
Its just there
Without a care
And no religion
Than the enigma of love
Life is king
Lifes a poison much too strong
Makes you running on and on
Lifes a drug and not your friend
Life will kill you in the end
Life is smooth
And life is friction
Life is such a contradiction
Life is god
And God needs lives
Lifes a billion battlecries
Life is golden. . .

For days long the rain falls

For days long the rain falls,
not like flying bullets
somewhere in the Middle East
or bombs from American war planes

dropping down on who knows whom,
killing children, women and men,
or like missiles from war ships
or projectiles fired from tanks.

God sends his blessings on everyone,
opens the clouds and let His rain pour down
and the thirsty earth rejoices before it’s gone,
plants, insects and birds let their joy be known

and man is only interested in power of his own
and while tears pour down looks with a nasty frown.

No More Tears

The light in the window is a crack in the sky
A stairway to darkness in the blink of an eye
A levee of tears to learn she'll never be coming back
The man in the dark will bring another attack
Your momma told you that you're not supposed to talk to strangers
Look in the mirror tell me do you think your life's in danger here, ya
No more tears
Another day passes as the night closes in
The red light goes on to say it's time to begin
I see the man around the corner waiting, does he see me?
I close my eyes and wait to hear the sound of someone screaming here
No more tears
So now that it's over can't we just say goodbye?
I'd like to move on and make the most of the night
Maybe a kiss before i leave you this way
Your lips are so cold i don't know what else to say
I never wanted it to end this way my love my darling
Believe me when i say to you in love i think i'm falling here
No more tears

Golden Rain

There is no Golden rain in real life
But in our dreams you and I see it clear
It falls from the sky
It paints our face golden like the sun
It doesn’t matter in the dream
Because it is only in the dream that can happen
The trees and the flowers and the grass are golden also
Nothing like that would had happen in real life
Because in real life the rain is silver
And our face doesn’t change color with the rain
It only happens in our dream
Weird things happen when we are dreaming
The are no birds to see
What a strange land this is
No house
No cars
No bus
No other people
But you and me
That Golden rain keeps falling non stop
And keep raining down that creek
That Golden rain doesn’t look nice at all
Not even in our dreams
What about the weather
It is cold and miserable
It makes us even more tired
And we want to sleep more
It is happening now in our dreams
And that Golden rain in our dream is not going to hurt us
There is no acid in that Golden rain
And that land in our dream is not polluted like the land in real life

Awake

Awake my sleeping heart
find a love for me.
Someone I can hold
and set me free.
You have slept far too long
and let so many pass by.

Awake my sleeping heart
find me someone
to care for, as I grow old.
To be there at my side
in times of happiness,
and in times of woe.

Awake; awake
my sleeping heart
before it is too late.
Awake, awake
I beg of thee.
Awake my love
and set me free.
