Mom Accordingly, You Are Loved

When I look in the mirror,
I see your face.

When I eat biscuits,
I remember your design.

I see you in my red stripped kitchen towel,
carefully drying your favorite dish

I smell you in the aroma of coffee,
waffling throughout the house.

In the spring greens in botanic garden,
I can feel your green thumb.

In the snowy winter nights,
I feel your warm love blanketing me

In nightmarish day and night dreams,
Mom, its thoughts of you that calm my fears

Mom, I see the whole of you, in my sons, daughter
Grandchildren…even the unborn

Mom, I see your eyes in the stars; your smile in the sun;
see you gently pruning each branch of your tree…
Dearest Mom, you are very much alive.

I Am From... By Ilana A. Sabio

I am from my purple and green stripped towel
from bounty and the long broom in the kitchen
I am from the dark scary attic, a coffee scented kitchen
From the rose bush hidden near my porch
The Oak tree covering my backyard
Whose long limbs I feel
As if they were my own.

I’m from Christmas and dark brown eyes
From Heather and Francis
I’m from a sweet tooth and
Sleepy heads and
From joking too much.

I’m always from listen and stand up for
Yourself and curiosity killed the cat
Mississippi and New York City
Cornbread and macaroni & cheese.

From grandma meeting her grand father
Who was once an Indian chief
Pictures of my great grandma, the great grandma on my
Mom’s side
On the wall in my room and in my sun room
Who I love dearly and miss a lot but keep her safe in my
heart.

Mother...look At Your Nature:

Wrapped in green grass
And other green things,
Beautifully laced in pink
And white blooms,
A canopy of blossoms
For thousand of strollers,
Flowered heads fresh out
Of priestly cradle,
Perennial rite in spring,
Eastertime turns Mother Earth
Into glorious paradise,
Pink and white snowflake
On jackets and hats,
But all delay leaving
to stroll hand-in-hand,
Promenading
On
Floral carpeting,
Besieged
by
Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s
ritual of spring.

She thought of plum-blossom; touched the strings

Posted: Mon Mar 02,2009 1: 34 pm Post subject:

--------------------

She thought of plum blossom, touched the strings

Smiling gently in her mind
this mid-winter morning
at the thought of Spring

she wraps herself in padded cotton kimono,
tiptoes through the snow
to the plum tree;

touches so gently tips of twigs
where the buds, too,
warm at the thought of spring;

then bends down, parts the snow
so carefully,
where the shoots of crocus
will soon pull aside the snowy duvet;
stretch; look coyly at the sun;

returns in her own footsteps in the snow;
takes up the shamisen,
touches the strings; is about to sing;
instead she smiles; almost sighs, like a lover,
black almonds in the corner of her eyes;

sounds of shamisen
can be heard in the garden
this winter morning.

Time Tells Time' 2 of 2 of the original

Your mirror is telling you that you’re a beautiful…
Listen to it, not like me, who tried not to hear
It reflects a face as fresh as a recently cut rose

Do not look for wrinkles
Admire the shining stars
Do ponder past moons, then
Anticipate all moons ahead

My dear, distance before is not far back…
So near you can smell sweet- cut summer grass,
Laugh at your children ringing around roses,
and help fill their pockets with poses

Fall trees in back yard stand barren
Just you stand tall to bear all
Just keep in mind the golden rule
Your golden years will happen

Dear daughter, waste not time on bygones
Just make right that you think went wrong

Love Is Every Where

Love is in the air…it's every where
its the tree swaying in the breeze
In a thousand points of light
shimmering in the heavens
Love is the cow jumping over the moon
Look, look…even the dish running
away with the spoon!
Love is every where…give it a go!

My Favorite Time

My favorite time of morning
Is that time of morning when
I have a cup of warm coffee in my hands
And the sun barely peeks over the land
When the day is yet unwritten
When I am alone in the quiet
With thoughts of you
To keep me company
At my favorite time

My favorite time of the day
Is that time of day when
I hear your voice or see your words
And I know you are engaged in me
As I am engaged in you
As I am replete with thoughts of you
Warm thoughts of you
Across the miles
At my favorite time

My favorite time of the night
Is that time of night when
I close my eyes and dream of you
And my dreams are vivid, sweet and real
In them we are together
In them there is no yesterday or tomorrow
Only a never ending today
With you always
At my favorite time

So my favorite time really
Is that real time
I am privileged to think of you
And to know that no matter what
You are all I could ever want
You are all I will ever need
In a partner, friend and love
I know this now because with you I am always
In my favorite time

Love To Remember

Your love's as fresh in my memory as this morning's sunrise
And still just as beautiful to me
I can still feel the soft touch of love sweet and tender
You give me love to remember
Nights with no ending, filled with love I'm remembering
Each night that I spend with you
I can still feel your soft touch, I can still feel your warm love
You give me love to remember
And each morning when I wake up
Before I leave my pillow. I search through my dreams carefully
Just to make sure that I don't leave one tiny memory
'Cause I dream of the love I remember
Nights with no ending, filled with love I'm remembering
Each night that I spend with you
I can still feel your warm love, I can still feel your soft touch
You give me love to remember
Love to remember

I Got A Reason

I wake with the morning light
Makin love all through the night
Was I dreaming
Lyin there I watch you sleep
One kiss before I leave, what youve done to me
Im gonna tell the world... yeah
Chorus:
I got a reason to feel alive
You put the smile on my face
Therell be no more lonely nights in this town
Oh no... no... cause I got a reason
I used to be a restless soul
All the dreams I could not hold
I was searchin...
I reached out and you were there
I never though someone would care
The way you do...
You got me shakin now girl
I got a reason to feel alive
You put the smile on my face
Therell be no more lonely nights in this town
Oh no... no... cause I got a reason
Oh no... no...
I want your love... want you to stay... oh yeah
You know you got me night and day
Every day...
I got a reason to feel alive
You put the smile on my face
Therell be no more lonely nights in this town

Love Is Something You Know Nothing About

I closed my eyes and said a prayer
In hopes that you would be there
You said Your heart was broken in two
And you didn't know what to do.

There was something that I always knew
That: love is something you know nothing about
And love is something we can't do without.

You don't know the difference between love and infatuation
For they are two different situations
Infatuation will last for a short spell
While love will take you to heaven and hell.

You will want that person by your side
And when they're not there you'll feel empty inside.
You'll feel as if a part of your heart
Had died -and you just want to cry.

You'll smell their aroma, and recall their kiss
Their arms around you that you'll miss.
The gentleness of their voice when they
Calm your fears- and wipe away that fallen tear.

It's a desire to walk hand in hand and to share
Your thoughts, your expectations and dreams
And be understanding to each others needs.

To never put your dreams before theirs
And to show that you care.

Yes! Love is something you know nothing about

Love's Life

The first time
We met
Strangers
no vetting

The second
Time we met.
We talked.
You left.

The third time we met.
Bygone meetings faded
Into blank space

now love lies between heaven
And the earth- beyond consciousness of
Rational thoughts, feelings, and perception:

The sun rises in your eyes.
you gave me the moon
and stars as gifts to the dark

Our love is like the endless sky
Does it matter if a heart fears
Like a caged animal's heart?

Love captures blindly
devouring its prey.

Remembering 'Joyce

Your joyful smile; your joyful laughter, and your caring for others permeated the community in which you lived and worked.

My eyes never grew weary of your glowing smile,
But now, these eyes of mine are swimming in a river of tears, and
my heart bounded by pain and grief. Yet,
I’m certain your soul is delighting the heavens.

My Joy, you awed me with the love you had for your family and others.
To observe that radiant phenomenon was akin to watching stars fall among
Daffodils in your garden. You are with God every where-in heaven and on earth:
I can see you in the field of stars, the sun is your smile, the moon your glow,
in the flowers that grows.
Shh…I hear a breeze- is it the breath of God whispering
in my ears saying: death is a mystery of all mysteries

You inspired others to believe that God’s love would be
Their comforter in times of pain and sorrow…
Away from home or at home. When I despaired, you would say
“Meta” you got to have faith!
I’ll never hear those words flow from your warm lips again,
But my heart will always brim these pleasing memories:

I remember those days we shopped until we dropped-
your shopping cart flowing- over with things for the girls-
even something for “Joe” -you could always find the bargains!
I remember the Fridays we sat at either my table or yours enjoying
fried fish and laughing as the grease ran down the corner of our mouths…
yet we never gained a pound!
I remember those late nights we spent in the boardroom
Ensuring the solvency of BEFCU-
Written minutes were no match for your photographic memory.
Now, I hold these memories close to my heart to use as pillows for my weary head.

Joy you had a way of helping others rise above the fray,
You’ll always be my “Joy”
I’ll always be “Meta”
Good Bye my friend and my Joy!

Rustic Love

We sat on the creaky porch- as
Twilight replaced daylight-
Watching the sun warm down in its
slide into the colorful shades of the West.
Tomorrow will be a day of awakening.

It seems everything fades away-
Though, not where we sit,
We are still here as things are out there, too
The chirping sounds of crickets
The scent of a summer roses…
Even mama’s pork smoking in the house

Your arms gently circled my waist
The click of our first kiss, choking.
Hearts quivering like that
Of a captive chick (heart)
Feeling a rush of wild wind-
Untamed affection not reserved
This moment-
Illusion of greenness
Explosion of age…

The Winter

The misty snow,
and the dew drops.
As the snow falls,
my hot coffee pops.

The leaves are dry,
and I do cry.
My garden blows,
and my tears flow.

With cold and coughs,
my time is tough.
Doctor-Doctor do we run
and then there is no fun.

To go to school,
feels like a fool.
Its good to sleep,
and in the rug i creep.

Jersey and Jacket, Socks and caps,
are my winter pairs.
With them I have a nap,
and they are my winter cares.

Pizzas, Wraps and Biscuits,
are my winter bakes.
Hot chocolate, Milo and coffee,
are my winter shakes.

The room is warm,
as firewood is on.
The room is calm,
as music is on.
And the winter goes on and on.

It Has Not Changed

Five years yet
no change
yet another
threw insults
to injure, but
In my poems is love
In my poems I live
In my silence
I make poems
for you my love
In my silence
I feel weak
and weary
for you my love

Remember me! ! !

Remember me every year when the summer comes again
When the sun shines above golden and bright
Like your heart
I know how you feel
Remember me!

Did you remember those summer days?
You will Smile and your eyes that i adore
Those green eyes will glow more bright then the sun above
And the angels will fly above while you smile
Those green eyes like those green days
How i loved those eyes take care of those eyes and
Remember me!

Remember me every year when the winter days come again
And when its a lovely raining day
While the drops of rain runs trough your hair
To slip and make love on your soft skin
Remember me!

Remember me every time that you meet
Those poor kids on the corner of the streets
Or an old man and alone people on the road
I know what you will feel
Those eyes will tear
Remember me!

Goodnight And Goodmorning!

I KNOW, I KNOW, I KNOW!

We just spoke a while ago.
I can't tread alone.
I'm as bare as
an autum tree

Oh my love
keep me warm.
My love burns
Eternitly!

Good night my love...
Now, rest your weary head on my poetic pillow

Love
Almedia

I wrote this poem after my love returned from a 24-hour trip [November 15-16th]

And his response the following morning: I ‘ll title it "Goodmorning"

I remember that you quoted some beautiful feelings to me last night. Thank you for putting them in writing for me.

You know
I know
We know
Love is what we know
That is all we need to know.

The Sound of Love...

It's 8 am in the morning…
Silver light spilling through the openings in the blinds:
The songbird signaling today is his and her play date.
I'm starting this day, in my place, in the circle of my lover's arms.
Eyes could no longer sleep, because the sound of poem
proclaiming love as natural as a bird professing his love
in the highest note, and arousing voices and images,
of my seeing and hearing you in mind and beyond.
Permission has been given to cease dreaming, instead dream out loud!
So, I stay nearby my poem to see, taste, feel, and hear
you anywhere awake or asleep.
I dozed off in your smile, yet am wide-awake, in your dreamy eyes.
When your arms wrap tight my waist, I feel the vibrato
of your fingers playing up and down my spine, likening
the melodious music Ilana plays on her Cello.
After all's said and done, we rose to the sound and aroma
of coffee dancing in water, under heat, reminding me of
our slow moves to the rhythm of that special song!
Dear, you need to know…
Ever since we met, you have been pen and paper
For every love poem penned:

Still, I can hear your baritone voice causing autumn leaves to fall and,
leaving me shaking like leaves in the cool mid afternoon breeze
Still, you stand strong like a Friendship Oak in my missed home State.
I'll ever stay present in the words my poem.
Your love likens spring
Exploding and bursting
Into blooms…
likening
The Sound of
Love
Resurrecting
The Silent Death
In Me…

Wishing You Were Here

I'm writing letters and your candle is burning
Things could be better, can't handle this yearning.
Can't stop my head from spinning,
wishing you were here.
Look at your photo but it still can't hold me,
I just recall the things you never ever told me
Like you're the one and I am
wishing you were here.
Wish you were here
to see the moon in the sky
Oh here, to see the light in your eyes
Looking at the stars and
Wishing you were here.
The clock is ticking but the time moves slowly
The weeks go quickly so you just won't know me
I'm writing love songs and I'm wishing
Wish you were here,
to see the moon in the skies
Oh here, to see the light in your eyes
Looking at the stars and
Wishing you were here
To put a smile on my face
Oh here, to get caught in my
warm embrace
Looking at the stars and
wishing you were here
Bridge:
To calm the restless nights
To kiss my fears away.
Here, to make this wrong seem right
To start our lives today.
Wish you were here,
to see the moon in the skies
Oh here, to see the light in your eyes
Looking at the stars and
Wishing you were here
To put a smile on my face
Oh here, to get caught in my
warm embrace
Looking at the stars and
wishing you were here

Sakura Matsuri Cherry Blossoms in May

Sakura Matsuri Cherry Blossoms in May

Last night,
Listening to the raindrops
Pecking on the window pane,
alerting thought
celebrating spring
With lady goddess that makes
cherry trees bloom.

Night enters into day and
Immersed into the gay;
Garden exploes into patchs
Pink and white blossoms
sprinkling pink flakes for
adults and kids to take.

Cherry trees are expecting all…
Don’t you think so?
Pink floral carpet covers pathway.
Strolling under the floweral canopy,
Bloomed strung arm embraces, spraying
Squirts of fragrance on each that passes.

A Friend of Light

As earth prepared its meeting with the sky
And my wishing to watch the sun slowly
Sink into the spectacular glow, instead
I basked in the dark not trusting light.

Then along came Patricia, who chased
Away loneness, fears and all its hosts
You used the means to mine beauty, joy and grace
That I may feel, taste and SEE, and turn to
You when my spirit needs a lift.

Patricia, lovingly called Pat, and my dearest friend:
I remember the first day we met. You
Accepted me and all my grime even instilled
In me that spirituality and beliefs restores.
You cared for me as I scrambled on the floor.

I didn't know where or how to go, yet you kept in touch,
Reached out your hands and picked me off the floor; then
Helped me clean off the grime.
I put on my fine and
Stepped into the light!

Patricia Dick-Arnell and Kevin Turner may you be blessed and Graced with compassion and love for each that'll pervade the world!
Stay in the light evermore…
