The Candle and The Moth

O Candle! Why does the moth love you?
Why is this restless soul devoted to you?

Your charm keeps it restless like mercury
Did you teach it the etiquette of Love?

It circumambulates the site of your manifestation
Is it inspired with the fire of your lightning?

Do the woes of death give it the peace of life?
Does your flame possess the quality of eternal life?

If you do not brighten this sorrowful world
This burning heart's tree of Longing may not green up

Falling before you is the prayer of this little heart
The taste for impassioned Love knows this little heart

It has some zeal of the Primeval Beauty's Lover
You are a small ñër, it is a small Kalam

The moth and the taste for the Sight of the Light!
This small insect and the Longing for the Light!

The Moth

The Moth
Goes near it
To seek some light
In its world of darkness
To seek some respite
In its desolate life
To seek some warmth
In its search for love,
Care and belongingness…

The Moth goes near it
Hoping to find
Some acceptance
Some reciprocation
Of its burning desire
For that source of light
But try as he might
He fails, he fails
And he miserably fails…

Every time he goes to it
He comes back
With less of warmth
And a lot less care…
Burns and Scalds
On its bruised body
Because of the Light
That hardly cares
To share its luminance
To shower its radiance
On this hapless victim
Of its crude ignorance…

And yet the Moth
Madly in love
Dedicated to its light
That source of “delight”
Which it hopes
Would be for him
One day –
And pine for him
As he does for her…
He would win over it,
Come what may…
Goes seeking her
Night after night
And every night
He returns back
Burned and scalded
As ever before…

So with all these scalds
And scars of burns
Which he accepts
As the kind
Give-aways
Of his beloved light,
Tired yet devoted
With wings so torn
He can hardly fly…
He still makes
One last attempt
To appease his Beloved -
That luminous light
On one last night.

And he burns and burns
And he so badly burns
His body in ashes…
All over his Beloved’s
Flame of Light.

And in that moment
Of despair and death
Not just the night
Mourns this grave loss
Of love and longing…
The candle-light
Burning bright
For all these nights
Realises the depth
Of the Moth’s
Eternal love for her…
And in a sense of shock
Gives up itself
To the world of
Darkness and Death.

So now the burnt-out,
Withered Wick
Remains the stoic witness
To tell this tragic tale
Of the Moth and the Light
How they met every night
Yet there was no love
Lost nor gained,
Neither realised
Nor reciprocated.
And yet when they couldn’t
Unite in life…
Death found a way out
Heralding their sacred union
In the after-life.
Amen!

Pot And Kettle

Come close to me, dear Annie, while I bind a lover's knot.
A tale of burning love between a kettle and a pot.
The pot was stalwart iron and the kettle trusty tin,
And though their sides were black with smoke they bubbled love within.

Forget that kettle, Jamie, and that pot of boiling broth,
I know a dismal story of a candle and a moth.
For while your pot is boiling and while your kettle sings
My moth makes love to candle flame and burns away his wings.

Your moth, I envy, Annie, that died by candle flame,
But here are two more lovers, unto no damage came.
There was a cuckoo loved a clock and found her always true.
For every hour they told their hearts, 'Ring! ting! Cuckoo! Cuckoo!'

As the pot boiled for the kettle, as the kettle for the pot,
So boils my love within me till my breast is glowing hot.
As the moth died for the candle, so could I die for you.
And my fond heart beats time with yours and cries, 'Cuckoo! Cuckoo!'

My heart has told your heart

My heart has told your heart,
I have fallen in love with you
My life, my love, trust me
As restless as I am, make yourself restless
Understand my heartbeat, please love me also

My heart has told your heart
I have fallen in love with you
If you say so, I'll tear down the moon and stars
This wind, this earth, I'll turn them back
What sight is in my eyes, what experience is this?
The river is close, the desert is far, why is there still thirst
I'll leave the world at your feet, meet my eyes
As restless as I am, make yourself restless
Understand my heartbeat, please love me also

My heart has told your heart
I have fallen in love with you
In my memories, in my dreams you come everyday
Why do you afflict me this way, my life?
From your heart, from your way I won't leave like that
This is a vow, this is my promise, 'll come back
I'll steal you from the world, just wait a little
As restless as I am, make yourself restless
Understand my heartbeat, please love me also

My heart has told your heart
I have fallen in love with you
My life, my love, trust me
As restless as I am, make yourself restless
Understand my heartbeat, please love me also

The Candle

O Candle! I am also an afflicted person in the world assembly
Constant complaint is my lot in the manner of the rue

Love gave the warmth of internal pathos to you
It made me the florist selling blood-mixed tears

Whether you be the candle of a celebrating assembly or one at the grave
In every condition associated with the tears of sorrow you remain

Your eye views all with equity like the Secret's Lovers
My eye is the pride of the tumult of discrimination

Your illumination is alike in the Ka'bah and the temple
I am entangled in the temple and the Haram's discrimination

Your black smoke contains the sigh's elegance
Is some heart hidden in the place of your manifestation?

You burn with pathos due to distance from Tajalli's Light
Your pathos the callous ones consider your light

Though you are burning you are unaware of it all
You see but do not encompass the internal pathos

I quiver like mercury with the excitement of vexation
As well I am aware of vexations of the restless heart

This was also the elegance of some Beloved
Which gave me perception of my own pathos

This cognition of mine keeps me restless
Innumerable fire temples are asleep in this spark

Discrimination between high and low is created by this alone!
Fragrance in flower, ecstasy in wine is created by this alone!

Garden, nightingale, flower, fragrance this Cognition is
Root of the struggle of ‘I and you' this Cognition is

At creation's dawn as Beauty became the abode of Love
The sound of "Kun" taught warmth to the spirit of Love

The command came Beauty of Kun's garden to witness
With one eye a thousand dreadful dreams to witness
Do not ask me of the nature of the veil of being
The eve of separation was the dawn of my being

Gone are the days when unaware of imprisonment I was
That my abode the adornment of the tree of Tur was
I am a prisoner but consider the cage to be a garden
This exile's hovel of sorrow I consider the homeland

Memories of the homeland a needless melancholy became
Now the desire for sight, now Longing for search became
O Candle! Look at the excessive illusion of thought
Look at the end of the one worshipped by celestial denizens

Theme of separation I am, the exalted one I am
Design of the Will of the Universe's Lord I am

He desired my display as He designed me
When at the head of Existence' Divan He wrote me

The pearl likes living in a handful of dust
Style may be dull the subject is excellent

Not seeing it rightly is the fault of shortsighted perception
The universe is the show of effulgence of taste for Cognizance

This network of time and space is the scaling ladder of the Universe
It is the necklace of the neck of Eternal BeautyI
have lost the way, Longing for the goal I am
O Candle! Captive of perception's illusion I am

I am the hunter as well as the circle of tyranny's net!
I am the Haram's roof as well as the bird on Haram's roofAm I the Beauty or head to foot the melting love am I?
It is not clear whether the beloved or the Lover am I?

am afraid the old secret may come up to my lips again
Lest story of suffering on the Cross may come up again.

Deep In Your Heart

I do know lifes been hard for you my love
Well take it slow and let our feelings grow
Day by day I feel Im getting closer to you
Come with me, wont let you slip away
Deep in your heart you are longing for love
I know you want me too
Deep in your heart you are longing for love
Thats all I want from you
Deep in your heart you are longing for love
You feel the way I do
Deep in your heart you are longing for love
And I keep longing to be with you
To survive you have tried to run from love
Deep down inside you want me in your life
Storm by storm Im breaking down this wall round your heart
I hold on to all your fears are gone
Deep in your heart you are longing for love
I know you want me too
Deep in your heart you are longing for love
Thats all I want from you
Deep in your heart you are longing for love
You feel the way I do
Deep in your heart you are longing for love
And I keep longing to be with you

Cant you see my desire?

Restless Heart

Words & music:amy grant and michael w. smith
On the street it never changes
Theres a chill in the air
Icy people, empty faces
Not a word, not a soul who cares
Do you give up
Have you given in to the lie that a heart never changes
Dont be fooled by what you see there
Another man with another case of
Chorus:
One restless heart
Who never could find love
Too many hurts
To reach out again
How can he know
Love still wants to find him
One restless shell of a man
Dont look away
In a moment his life could be new
Just a moment and love could break through
Oh finally some place to start
For a man with a restless heart
Why the fear then, why the worry
Why the walls holding love inside
When youre needed in the fury
In the fighting to save mens lives
Dont you give up
Dont be giving in to the lie that a heart never changes
If you reach out godll reach in
Bring an end to another case of
Chorus
One restless heart, one restless heart
One restless heart, one restless heart
Hes got to know that love still can find him
Love can reach any man
Dont look away
In a moment his life could be new
Just a moment and love could break through
Oh finally some place to start
For a man with a restless heart
Tag:
Dont you look away
Oh never a stranger again
Love has saved a restless man
Finally some place to start
For a man with a restless heart

When You Came Into My Life

Music :klaus meine, rudolf schenker, titiek puspa, james f. sundah
Lyrics:klaus meine, rudolf schenker, titiek puspa, james f. sundah
You give me your smile
A piece of your heart
You give me the feel i've been looking for
You give me your soul
Your innocent love
You are the one i've been waiting for
I've been waiting for
We're lost in a kiss
A moment in time
Forever young
Just forever, just forever in love
When you came into my life
It took my breath away
It was love at first sight
All the way
When you came into my life
The world was not the same, oh no
Cause your love has found it's way
Into my heart, oh yeah
You make me dream
By the look in your eyes
You give me the feel, i've been longing for
I've been longing for so long
When you came into my life
It took my breath away
You set my heart on fire
All the way
When you came into my life
The world was not the same, oh no
Cause your love has found it's way
Into my heart
Just forever in love
When you came into my life
It took my breath away
And was love at first sight
All the way
When you came into my life
It took my breath away
You set my heart on fire
I never felt that way
When you came into my life
The world was not the same, oh no
Cause your love has found it's way
Into my heart
When you came into my life

Time Decides

an acorn contains the universe,
a moth contains the night.
the flicker and flame
of small twigs burning

returns light to the stars.
the rumble of distant thunder
in every leaf that falls.
a prayer held in every

dropp of rain... a baby
born in the face of
every mountain's movement...
the depth of love raging

beneath the snows of winter....

death, or spring..... time decides....
each has it's own cup!
each has it's own flame!

Fire Ferocious

Fire! Fire! Ferocious fire!
You restless wall of flame.
Fire! Fire! Roaring higher!
Your fury to never tame.

You show no mercy – no regard:
A writhing army uncontrolled.
At least you don’t discriminate,
Selecting to exterminate:
All dealt with equal pain untold.

Fire! Fire! Ferocious fire!
You restless wall of flame.
Fire! Fire! Roaring higher!
Your fury to never tame.

In time of drought you run amok –
An open chimney of the land.
Prefer to scorch than suffocate:
In blinding zeal, incinerate
To blackened vista now unmanned.

Fire! Fire! Ferocious fire!
You restless wall of flame.
Fire! Fire! Roaring higher!
Your fury to never tame.

Destruction be your only goal
For you to vent your jealous wrath
On gentle life with caring soul
And human victims to console:
As you are none, but psychopath.

Fire! Fire! Ferocious fire!
You restless wall of flame.
Fire! Fire! Roaring higher!
Your fury to never tame.

So there it is – you are but flame:
Reacting gases to adorn –
With orange flicks of flailing arms,
You’re flaunting your demonic charms!
Now leave us for bereaved to mourn.

Fire! Fire! Ferocious fire!
You restless wall of flame.
Fire! Fire! Roaring higher!
Your fury to never tame.

So many lives to claim.

Early Works - Life

Life has its success
and its upsets;
life has its ups and downs
that’s what makes the world go round.

Life is a turmoil
of our own tribulations,
life and death are one,
which our lives revolve around.

Life for some is restless
with no stop in sight
with something burning within
that makes them follow
like a moth follows light.

Life with this turmoil
is a branch of our own transition
with the death of a partner
we follow with no hesitation.

With the last flickering light of life,
we follow our cord
until the day of judgements
when we pay homage to the lord.

Your little Heart

CHORUS
A little heart will never be so big
A little heart will always be so small
A little heart will never have the dig
A little heart won’t answer to the call

1
If you really want to love someone
Make sure your heart’s a big one
Or else you will find that it’s no fun
When they take their love and run

CHORUS
A little heart will never be so big
A little heart will always be so small
A little heart will never have the dig
A little heart won’t answer to the call

2
A big heart will always be filled with love
A big heart will be your turtledove
A big heart will love you day or night
A big heart will love you wrong or right

CHORUS
A little heart will never be so big
A little heart will always be so small
A little heart will never have the dig
A little heart won’t answer to the call
When they take their things and run

3
Don’t look at someone else’s heart
It’s yours that stand’s apart
Don’t be known to have a little heart
But one filled huge with love to start

CHORUS
A little heart will never be so big
A little heart will always be so small
A little heart will never have the dig
A little heart won’t answer to the call
When they take their things and run

4
Remember to give your heart away
Fill it with love each day
And then there will be no dismay
When you hear somebody say

YOUR little heart will never be so big
YOUR little heart will always be so small
YOUR little heart will never have the dig
YOUR little heart won’t answer to the call

YOUR little heart will never be so big
YOUR little heart will always be so small
YOUR little heart will never have the dig
YOUR little heart won’t answer to the call

Eternal Prayer

This is my eternal prayer with god I do share
All my life I have searched for love
And prayed to you up above.
Love seems to take a turn, and the passion
In my heart does burn.

I see the beauties that you have created
Yet with my dream you have hesitated.
Is it that something special is coming my way?
Oh dear lord- to you I pray.

So many years have gone by- and as I see
Other lovers- I do sigh.
The passion in my heart is a eternal fire
As I seek someone to join this fire.

I feel like I’m a star up in the sky
Everyone can see the beauty, but it’s
Beyond their reach, as I search
For eternal loves peace.

Will I be that star in the sky, or can I be
Like mother earth, that everyone can see
My beauty and smell my fragrance
And touch the gentleness of my heart
And from their hands I will not part.

As the plants need water to live
I have so much love to give.
Let me be the water that touches their heart
So that it may grow, and from me they will know.

This is my eternal prayer that with the world I will share.

The candle and the fly

A woman in love is a candle;
Her love and the candle’s flame are to burn.
Her pining is the candle’s burning.
They pine and burn and exhaust themselves.

A man in love is like a fly;
Both are in flight towards their targets
Of love and flame, to which they succumb
By one longing and the other by falling.

The candle is burnt; so is the beloved.
The fly is burnt; so is the lover.
No doubt, the end for them is mere ash
But their pursuits gave them enough push.

Sonnet-Life

Life's fabric has both threads of joys and woes;
You take away the woes, it will not stand;
When both in optimum scales, well it goes;
You take away the joys, you can't withstand.

Life is a battle, we do always fight;
Sometimes with others' help; sometimes alone;
The war is waged between darkness and light;
When victory comes, we laugh; if not we groan.

Small things in life do matter very much;
Small acts of kindness can purchase hearts;
Small courtesies can most cruel hearts touch;
Small acts of help to people work like darts.

Like your life and it will give you pleasure;
Love your life and it will be your treasure.

Burning Fire in My Heart

There is a burning fire, within each one's heart
There is a loving desire, within each one's heart
There is a person even higher, within each one's heart

In your heart, is there a thought of the one you love so much more
In your heart, is there a candle burning for the people you care for
In your heart, is there a light for the person who will open the door

In my heart, there is a melody of love so true
In my heart, there is a star made for you
In my heart, there is a love, reaching for the blue

In my heart, there is a burning fire

Modern Beauty

I am the torch, she saith, and what to me
If the moth die of me? I am the flame
Of Beauty, and I burn that all may see
Beauty, and I have neither joy nor shame.
But live with that clear light of perfect fire
Which is to men the death of their desire.

I am Yseult and Helen, I have seen
Troy burn, and the most loving knight lies dead.
The world has been my mirror, time has been
My breath upon the glass; and men have said,
Age after age, in rapture and despair,
Love's poor few words, before my image there.

I live, and am immortal; in my eyes
The sorrow of the world, and on my lips
The joy of life, mingle to make me wise;
Yet now the day is darkened with eclipse:
Who is there lives for beauty? Still am I
The torch, but where's the moth that still dares die?

Restless Soul Is Mad

Restless soul
Is mad
Ruled by a force unseen but dominating
Eluding it
Yet longing for it
What fear is it?
What desire?
That grows each day
As the light submits to dark
And as the doors slowly close
It’s daytime for my soul
What horizons does it explore through the lands of dreams?
And what glitters for it far is its own illusionary reflections
That shine
A mirage
I do know!
Yet I live with its doubts
For my soul is restless
And it is mad
And it won't believe what shows
For it chases the truth
Not knowing that it beats within him
Falling in the rhythms of heart
Unheard
Moving like slow winds through its lungs
It’s the moment that is lived and to be lived the truth
A moment, an infinite lives
And a moment death
Yet I would live in doubt
For one day, my soul shall find the way to its own heart
To its own self
The ways untrodden for now
And till then I shall be restless
I shall be mad...

Sometimes I Wonder

Sometimes I wonder if you guess
The deep impassioned tenderness
Which overflows my heart;
The love I never dare confess;
Yet hard, yea, harder to repress
Than tears too fain to start.

Sometimes I ponder, O my sweet,
The things I'll tell you when we meet;
But straightway at your sight
My heart's blood oozes to my feet
Like thawing waters in the heat,
Confused with too much light.

I hardly know, when you are near,
If it is love, or joy, or fear
Which fills my languid frame;
Enveloped in your atmosphere,
My dark self seems to disappear,
A moth entombed in flame.

Small Soul

Small soul’s alone in the night
It’s small
But it’s still a soul
The tiny light
That shines in the dark

Small soul glows dim in the fight
It’s small
But it’s really a soul
Though it looks weak
It’s struggling inside

Small soul keeps attracting my heart
It’s small
But it’s a beautiful soul
It may easily disappear
But it could also grow stronger
