A Sleepless Night
Within the hollow silence of the night
I lay awake and listened. I could hear
Planet with punctual planet chiming clear,
And unto star star cadencing aright.
Nor these alone: cloistered from deafening sight,
All things that are, made music to my ear:
Hushed woods, dumb caves, and many a soundless mere,
With Arctic mains in rigid sleep locked tight.
But ever with this chant from shore and sea,
From singing constellation, humming thought,
And life through time's stops blowing variously,
A melancholy undertone was wrought;
And from its boundless prison-house I caught
The awful wail of lone Eternity.

Outer Space
we thought we'd caught a shooting star
we was looking deep into to this from a far
only thing we'd caught was a falling star
from speeding at the speed of light thinking
it would work cause we both was big flirts its

now lets hop on the next space ship flight
to grab are shinning star's

He Wishes Upon The Evening Star
A small child sits upon a stump in the middle of the pasture
amid chirping crickets and glowing lightning bugs.
Looking up into the twilight,
a lone star twinkles, as if to say, “I am listening.”
He considers his words carefully, for such opportunities should not be wasted.
He knows he must finish this conversation before the other stars appear.
He recites a nursery rhyme.
“Star light, star bright…”
He wishes childlike: one word.
Happiness.
A young boy runs through the woods playing Hide and Seek,
laughter and voices echoing through the trees.
He steps into a clearing and looks up to the Heavens.
The first star hangs expectantly in the air.
He stands alone, outcast among the other children
as two by two, the couples dance.
He recites his mantra.
“Star light, star bright…”
He whispers two words as he is tagged “It”.
A soulmate.
A grown man walks through campus on his way home,
eerie silence blanketing him where there should be life.
Standing on the tracks, his soul heavy with loneliness,
his planet hangs steady and bright.
Doubts crawl through his mind.
He wants to share himself with somebody.
He boldly speaks his prayer.
“Star light, star bright…”
He speaks aloud three words,
Real True Love.
A broken man walks a long lonely walk.
His life is passing him by.
In an empty field, he drops to his knees and cries out
to a star that has never helped him.
A cathartic wail pierces the night.
He mumbles barely audible words.
“Star light, star bright…”
“I am still here, ” it says,
“I know what it is you would wish for -,
Peace.”
A new man breathes fresh air, seemingly for the first time.
He stands next to her and together they look
to the sky as they hold hands.
Neither can believe that this is real.
She goes inside while he tarries for a second
and begs forgiveness for falling into despair.
He whispers an apology.
“Star light, star bright…”
I’m sorry.
Please don’t let me lose her.
An old man lies dying with his family all around him.
He gazes lovingly into her bright shining eyes and
she looks as beautiful now as she did when he first saw her.
All of his wishes have been granted.
She squeezes his hand and they look out the window.
It is brighter tonight than it ever has been before.
He says with his last breath,
“Star light, star bright…”

Farthest of my Farthest Spheres
Mother launches me
Out of her womb
On to this world
Amidst flames of pain
And torrents of pain!
Mother alone
Is my star I
I spin around
In tight circles
For all my needs!

A host of things

As days rush past me

Ignorance
Oh happy he who cannot see
With scientific eyes;
Who does not know how flowers grow,
And is not planet wise;
Content to find with simple mind

From the time that you died
I have looked for your sign
and at times it’s dull and distant,
but now it’s bright
as if you are near
and it’s ruling the night sky.
How tough is it to know
that true love does not perish,
nor fade with time
but lives on
though you are gone.
I have endeared the things
that you loved
and have got new meaning
from life for your sake,
but every thing is hollow
while I live in another time
and place from where you are.
I do not know if your sign
is a token of what destiny holds
or just another omen
of what’s going to unfold

The Star outside my window
It was late
I couldn't sleep
The moon lit night was seaping through my window seam
i quietly rolled over on my tummy
as i gazed out at the starry night
i felt so small and weak looking at the millions of stars
just then one star caught my eyes
It was the biggest most spectacular star in the sky
at first i thought it couldn't possibly be a star
i sat still for minutes staring at it
it didn't move
not once
so i closed my eyes in the dead of night
and carefully made my wish to the star outside my fogged up window
i layed back down my eyes blinking shut
a smile on my face
i fell asleep with the sweet though that it might actually come true
that star still shines outside my window every night
