Cheap Whiskey in Bed
There's an empty arena
Where Obama once was,
There is too much confetti-
Now I've got myself lost.
I was writing to tell you
Of my feelings tonight-
But the noise and distraction
Have drowned the light.
With the way things are going
I can hardly contain
The hurt and the anger
As the things stay the same.
Someone recently fired
Hung himself from a tree-
While some passing onlooker
Said: 'I'm glad it's not me.'
Welfare, food stamps, recession-
Rebels turned to old farts,
Holding on to their pensions
And postmodernist art.
Yes, we are moving forward
To some dismal abyss-
Four more years of a conman
And more homeless bliss.
Christmas trees in the White House-
Fifty four trees in all-
Just more glitz and more glamor
Without a soul.
While they bomb poor countries
With remote controls-
Deaths of innocent children
Mean nothing at all.
While they dance in Hawaii,
Take some ocean cruise,
Freezing homeless bastards
Sleep in vomit and booze.

Homeless
Homeless;
- Down by the muddy Mississippi
Skinny as a rail,
Sleeping under the old Eads bridge
Feeling low, dirty, and frail -
Homeless;
- With less than two coins
In both pockets,
Empty eyes
Look through sunken sockets -
Homeless;
- So many people walk right on by
I wonder how many care,
They all keep moving
Even though they stare -
Homeless;
- Lost a job
Lost a home,
Lost a family
Lost all hope -
Homeless;
- Where will I go from here
What should I do,
I'm so thankful when the weather's fair
And the skies are blue -
Homeless;
- Don't know the day nor season
And, yea, it sure gets cold at night,
I've got an old sleeping bag
I'll be alright -
Homeless;
- There's so many of us out here
Without a home,
Even so
I feel so very alone -
Homeless;
- It's a tough situation
Not pretty, just true,
And at any time
It could happen to you -
Homeless;
- Hey buddy...
Could you spare a dime,
And say a prayer for us
... sometime -
- I'm just homeless, not less human...

Melekalikimaka
Its been my secret passion to try it
To spend my christmas surfin, I cant deny it
I wanna spend my christmas on the kona coast in hawaii
For years I saved my pennies and planned it
The great pacific ocean, well span it
I wanna spend christmas where I dig it the most, in hawaii
Go to hawaii
Melekalikimaka is merry christmas in hawaii talk-a
And at lahaina well count the shooting stars
And it will be just you and me in hawaii
The suntanned beauties are everywhere
If youre comin to the islands then you might stare
And find a girl waiting for you there in hawaii
Kani and wahini and the haoles, too
Wish a melekalikimaka to you
Theyre the friendliest people anywhere in hawaii
Go to hawaii
Melekalikimaka is how they say it in island talk-a
The island flower fragrance in the air
Well write a card and underneath the mango trees
Well say, wish you were here with us in hawaii
Winter in the sun and surfd sure be nice
In a south sea garden paradise
I wanna spend christmas where I dig it the most, in hawaii
Honolulu, waikiki
Do you wanna come along with me?
Waimia up to hanalai
Id love to take you to the islands today

Children Should Not Have To Be Homeless
There are thousands of homeless children in Beijing in China though that is not suprising to hear
For where there is a huge population there is poverty too 'twould appear
And China to anywhere else is no different the rich getting richer they say
And just beyond the leafy suburb is the suburb of neglect and decay.
There are thousands of homeless children in New York though with that some may not agree
In America the great Land of commerce no such a thing as poverty?
But the facts of course will tell you differently and in a World of inequality
There too are children homeless and hungry in the so called Land of the free.
There are homeless children in London in England as well as in Paris in France
The poor children of the poor suburb in life they do not have a chance
Their parents in Jail for drug abuse they become the kids of the street
They search the rubbish bins for food in dark alleys and what others do throw out they eat.
There are homeless children in Sydney and Melbourne and anywhere else one might name
Though that does not seem to affect us we never reflect on our shame
That many should have to grow poorer for one to become a millionaire
In a truly egalatarian society would never be looked on as fair.
Children should not have to be homeless though born into abject poverty
They should not be punished for the sins of their parents so much for our humanity
And money to some all that matters and money is married to success
Whilst the children of the poor live homeless on the street of the No Fixed Address.

Archibald's Example
Old Archibald, in his eternal chair,
Where trespassers, whatever their degree,
Were soon frowned out again, was looking off
Across the clover when he said to me:
“My green hill yonder, where the sun goes down
Without a scratch, was once inhabited
By trees that injured him—an evil trash
That made a cage, and held him while he bled.
“Gone fifty years, I see them as they were
Before they fell. They were a crooked lot
To spoil my sunset, and I saw no time
In fifty years for crooked things to rot.
“Trees, yes; but not a service or a joy
To God or man, for they were thieves of light.
So down they came. Nature and I looked on,
And we were glad when they were out of sight.
“Trees are like men, sometimes; and that being so,
So much for that.” He twinkled in his chair,
And looked across the clover to the place
That he remembered when the trees were there.

Among the Trees
I wonder lost among the trees
Looking for the one my heart calls for
I wonder lost among the trees
I see your light amongst the dark
I wonder lost among the trees
Your light is brighter then the rest
I wonder lost among the trees
Your light is out of my reach
I wonder lost among the trees
Your light comes closer
I wonder lost among the trees
Your light is bright like an angel from the sky
I wonder lost among the trees
Your light fades away and leaves me alone
I wonder lost among the trees
Without a hand to guide the way
I wonder lost among the trees
Looking for my guiding light
I wonder lost among the trees
I wonder lost, alone
I wonder afraid of the world
Around me I look for the one
I wonder lost among the trees
I wonder lost and alone forever...................................

A Christmas Tree! A Christmas Tree!
A Christmas tree! A Christmas tree!
With dark green needled memories
Of childhood dreams and mysteries
Wrapped present-like in front of me.
A Christmas tree! A Christmas tree!
I glimpse a past wherein i see
The child that then grew into me
Not forward fast but haltingly.
A Christmas tree! A Christmas tree!
A time for being with family
A time that's gone so fleetingly
Yet lives for always deep in me.
A Christmas tree! A Christmas tree!
When twelfth night comes whole hauntingly
One lingered look and then i see
No Christmas tree where it would be.
A Christmas tree! A Christmas tree!
With feelings now felt longingly
No corner in my house to see
The magic of that Christmas tree.

The Darker Side Of Sydney
There's more than glitz and glamour to Australia's biggest city Sydney has it's darker side
I've seen so many young people there their lives by drugs and booze destroyed
By trees in small parks and dimly lit laneways they sleep on the hard and bare ground
Near to where there's wealth and opulence there's great poverty to be found.
Many seem to think that for their poverty they only have themselves to blame
That they are lacking in their self worth and do not have a sense of shame
That they spend all of their welfare money on the buying of narcotics and booze
But it doesn't seem right to judge somebody if you have not walked in their shoes.
For to support their vices they must sleep rough and live on the cheap
And in the laneway off of Bourke St on the hard concrete they sleep
Yet I dare not criticize them and of them can only say
That they are the less fortunate of people and in life have lost their way.
One could say that their vices for them are now out of their control
But the weakness of the flesh is not a weakness of the soul
The soul of the poor and down and out despite the body's disrepair
Can have far more depth and feeling than the soul of the millionaire.
Australia's largest city to so many a sense of pride
But despite it's wealth and opulence Sydney has a darker side
And where there is glitter and glamour such great poverty abound
And far too many people living poor there and sleeping rough on the bare ground.

I am Not Homeless
I am not homeless
there is a number on my door
a room mate cat quilt desk sofa
spray bottles under the sink.
I am not homeless
on the train initiated
showing a monthly ticket to the guard
I am not homeless
at my desk in the office
expected to talk beg
bring in the business
give them the business
business as usual or get the hell out
I am not homeless
in a world of obligation
scrambling to pay rent
electricity gas oil phone commutation
food food food
I am not homeless —
unless I am expected
to feel at home.

Loveliest of Trees, the Cherry Now
Loveliest of trees, the cherry now
Is hung with bloom along the bough,
And stands about the woodland ride
Wearing white for Eastertide.
Now, of my threescore years and ten,
Twenty will not come again,
And take from seventy springs a score,
It only leaves me fifty more.
And since to look at things in bloom
Fifty springs are little room,
About the woodlands I will go
To see the cherry hung with snow.

The Best Gift Ever
Christmas trees and Christmas bells
Christmas lights and all the frills.
Smiles on all the children’s faces
Special foods and yuletide graces.
Eyes aglow with anxious wonder
Of what precious presents are waiting under
The Christmas tree that smells so spicy
Where popcorn and taffy are hung so nicely.
An angel shines above the tree
To light the way for all to see
That now God’s promise is fulfilled
And in a manger lies on a Bethlehem hill.
A newborn babe on a bed of hay
Will soon take all our sins away.
What greater gift could ever there be
For us, under God’s own Christmas tree?
Moms and Dads from all around
Awaken to that gleeful sound
Of children rushing in to see
What Santa has left there for me
And there they find the very best,
By our sacrifice our children are blessed
As God sacrificed His best for us,
His Son, our Savior, His name, Jesus!

A Word For The Broken Hearted?
who stopped spoke to the broken hearted
gave them their scarf gloves coat in cold
inhospitable weather homeless starve in?
a minute or two of time brief fails
to warm cold flesh already shivering
'bless you' in name of Christ fails
to feed empty growling homeless bellies
and when Jesus asks when you fed
his poor will you tell stories ten thousand
plate dinner you ego shared with Obama
could have feed a few thousand homeless
instead feeding capitalist exploitation egos?

Some Things I Know
(burton collins/sally barris)
Theres some things I know to be true
Snow is white and the ocean is blue
Rain is wet when it falls from the sky
And the stars come out every night
And just as sure as the sun will rise
The love is real you see in my eyes
Plant a seed and it will grow
Some things I know
Theres some things in life I need
Water to drink, air to breathe
A place to rest when I need sleep
When Im hungry, food to eat
As sure as I need the lord above
Thats how much I need your love
I need shelter from the cold
Some things I know
Theres some things in life I want
A house with a porch, trees out front
Someone to talk with, someone to hold
And walk with as we grow old
And I want all my dreams to come true
And I want them all with you
And I just had to tell you so
Some things I know
Theres some things I know to be true

White Snow (Christmas in April)
Not so many years ago,
We waited long and hard,
And all December,
The road were glazed with ice,
But never the field,
Covered with soft snow,
And on Christmas day,
Freezing as it was,
The ground still brown and green,
And no white Christmas,
And so Christmas passed,
And the year went on,
Until one freezing april morning,
The April showers,
Turned to sleet,
Which turned to snow,
And Christmas a long white,
Christmas,
Happened in April.

May God Help The Poor Children
He help the homeless children the children of the street
He give them clothes and shelter he give them food to eat
He try to shield them from police the police no mercy show
And the glue sniffing children of the streets at their hands suffer so.
I watched a documentary on Guatemala the saddest I've seen for years
The crimes against the children moved hardened heart to tears
The police of Guatemala beat the street kids to death
How can men do such evil things and not live to regret? .
The street kids of Guatemala they know Bruce Harris well
He try to keep them from the streets from life of crime and hell
He try to shield them from police from cruel inhuman men
His is an uphill battle a battle hard to win.
He help the homeless children the children of the street
He give them clothes and shelter he give them food to eat
And may God help the poor children such suffering they go through
And God bless all those who help them and God bless Bruce Harris too.

Homeless
while walking thru the woods one day
a wise homeless man came my way
and as he came closer to me
he asked me so softely.
do you have a dollar you could spare
to buy a burger for my wife and i to share.
i've lost everything in my life
home, car, children too.
and i don't know what to do.
so now my wife and i sleep under the trees
with leaves as a bed, to rest my weary head.
i know that my clothes are torn and tattered
but to me that does'nt matter.
if i could have a dollar or two
i would be grateful to you.
a warm meal is all i ask, if it's not much of a task.
all my life i was a provider, and now i'm an outsider
an outsider who finally sees, what poverty has done to me.
i've worked every job that i could find
.to be the provider that i used to be.
but life turned its back on me
they say that humanity always asks the LORD.
'why me' but poverty is the student
and hardship is the teacher.
that is the way the LORD can reach us.
for when we see all that we had, and did not want to share.
turned our backs on everyone, and did not really care.
this is the time that our lessons in life unfolds.
for in GODS teachings, to help our fellow man.
sacrifices we all must make, its part of GODS plan.
and now that i am homeless and living in the woods
i have to ask myself.
'what would have happened if in my life i was good'
i gave this man five dollars for that was all i had.
he looked up at me and smiled
and blessed me for the generosity.
then he turned his back, and departed from me.
and as he walked away, a mist covered him from view.
there was no one there, that was when i knew.
the LORD had came to me that day.
just to show me the homeless way.

The Fish Pound and Violin
My grandpa stay in the house
Near the river
Where its water flow end in the South Ocean
His garden hedged with Bamboo trees
In front of the garden planted three tuft trees
The children like to climb the tuft tree
Pick up the fruits and eat on the tree
Glad and laughing
My grandpa was silent and said nothing
He just smile subtly, and gaze at far away
There is a fish pond in the backyard,
In its edge planted pineapple and banana trees
My grandma always give brand and papaya leaf to the pound
Giving food for the fish like Gurame, Sepat dan Nila,
While my grandpa make a biola, gitar and bass
In the litlle studio, near the kitchen
I passionatedly gaze the fish jump around
And glad
While they don’t know their destiny
Decided by mothers in the cities
On the frying pan, roastibng, caserate,
With imagine to ecpanced their plan on the rice filed
Near the road forgeted how farmer produce,
Fish, rice and vegetable,
And actually
Their Self conscience.

A Christmas Song
The children know where the cold wind blows and it snows
They write letters to a man, the North pole
In hopes a glimpse, to see him in his flight
Riding his sleigh, dressed in red, trimmed in white
Merry Christmas and a HO, HO, HO, the children know he goes
They will lay awake and listen for the sound
The jingle of his sleigh, Santa is on his way
The Reindeer hoofs upon the roofs when he comes down
The twinkling lights gleaming bright on the Christmas tree
Stockings hung with care, on every chimney
They will try to stay awake, till the dreams over-take
Looks like a Merry Christmas to me
Merry Christmas and a HO, HO, HO, the children know he goes
Riding his sleigh, dressed in red, trimmed in white
They anticipate, hardly can they wait
To see the man riding the wind when he takes his flight
Guided by a Reindeer with a bright and glowing nose
In just one night, he will make good his flight
And all around the world, visit every boy and girl
Bringing gifts of love to all on Christmas night
Just ask any boy or girl, they know
What it means to hear sleigh bells in the snow
They will try to stay awake till the dreams over-take
Over the tops of trees, they hope to see him as he goes
Merry Christmas and a HO, HO, HO, the children know he goes
They will lay awake and listen for the sound
The jingle of his sleigh, Santa is on his way
The Reindeer hoofs upon the roofs when he comes down
Mom and dad holding hands, each other close
As they walk in the snow on Christmas Eve
The twinkling lights gleaming brightly on every Christmas tree
Looks like a Merry Christmas to me.

That Bears Our Name
i can only taste scars tonight,
ashes, and blood turned to wine.
that old tree, cut and fallen,
the sound of wings long absent.
the web is empty,
and even the wind doesnt reply.
the garden mourns its time of passing,
and the plow is left alone.
sometimes we wake up homeless,
hungry without needing to eat.
to find that we are orphaned,
by the very heart that bears our name!

Take The Time Out
Lying out on the street, theres a man
That needs somewhere to sleep
And a bag-lady digs, through the trash
Hoping to find some food to eat
In the cold winters snow, walks a boy
That needs shoes for his feet
In an old run-down house, theres a child
In a crib that needs some heat
In the dark of the night, a young man
Searches for a guiding light
And a young woman cries in despair
Cause she feels alone in life
You might ask yourself what in the hell
Does that have to do with me
Well, here is your wake up call...
Everything!
Cause we all play a part in each others existence
Take the time out to love someone
Reach your arms out and hug someone
Be it king or some homeless one
We are all one underneath the sun
Take the time out to be right there
Take the time out to show you care
Youll be so glad when the day is done
You took the time out to love someone
Theres a man in a house where theyre selling crack
Yet hes trying to be strong
But when lost in the sea, of no hope
He must be saved from wrong
Dont say what you wont do, if for days
You had no food to eat
Nor extremes you wont go, for a bed, shoes
Or if your baby needed heat
You do not have the right to pre-judge
If you dont share your strength
And you cant say youre down for the fight
If you wont go the length
Now I dont really care what you feel
If you dont feel for life
And dont care what you think if your words
Dont have ways and actions that perpetuate life
Take the time out to love someone
Reach your arms out and hug someone
Be it king or some homeless one
We are all one underneath the sun
Take the time out to be right there
Take the time out to show you care
Youll be so glad when the day is done
You took the time out to love someone
(repeat)
I think its time to...
Take the time out to love someone
Reach your arms out and hug someone
Be it king or some homeless one
We are all one underneath the sun
Take the time out to be right there
Take the time out to show you care
Youll be so glad when the day is done
You took the time out to love someone
(repeat)
