Broke Down Downtown

A lifeless body laid face down
on the back alley wet sidewalk.
This time of night no ones around
especially now at three o’clock.
I’m here because my car broke down
Otherwise I wouldn’t be found dead
in this place. I hail from uptown.
Here, downtown, murder is widespread
Someone is always getting killed:
Prostitutes, druggies and the like
Thinking about it gives me chills.
Man! I wish I had my road bike
I’d flee this jungle battlefield.
For now, better keep my eyes peeled.

Uptown Girl

Uptown girl
She's been living in her uptown world
I bet she never had a back street guy
I bet her mama never told her why

I'm gonna try for an uptown girl
She's been living in her white bread world
As long as anyone with hot blood can
And now she's looking for a downtown man
That's what I am

And when she knows what
She wants from her ti-i-ime
And when she wakes up
And makes up her mi-i-ind

She'll see I'm not so tough
Just because I'm in love
With an uptown girl
You know I've seen her in her uptown world
She's getting tired of her high class boys
And all her presents from her uptown boys
She's got a choice

Uptown girl
You know I can't afford to buy her pearls
But maybe someday when my ship comes in
She'll understand what kind of guy I've been
And then I'll win

And when she's walking
She's looking so fi-i-ine
And when she's talking
She'll say that she's mi-i-ine

She'll say I'm not so tough
Just because I'm in love
With an uptown girl
She's been living in her white bread world
As long as anyone with hot blood can
And now she's looking for a downtown man
That's what I am

Uptown girl
She's my uptown girl
You know I'm in love
With an uptown girl
My uptown girl
You know I'm love
With an uptown girl
My uptown girl
You know I'm love
With an uptown girl
My uptown girl

Alley Oop

Hey hey hey
Da da da
Thats what I say
Da da da
Theres a man in the funny papers we all know
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
He lived way back a long time ago
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
Well he dont eat nothin but bearcat stew
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
Oh well this cats name is a-alley oop
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
Hes the toughest man there is alive
Alley oop
Wears clothes from a wildcats hide
Alley oop
Hes the king of the jungle jive
Look at that caveman go!
Hes got a chauffeur thats a genuine dinosaur
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
And he can knuckle your head before you count to four
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
Hes got a big ugly club and a headful of hair
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
Hes oohhhh eatin grizzly bear
(*laughter*)
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
Forgot the words!
Hes the toughest man there is alive
Alley oop
Wears clothes from a wildcats hide
Alley oop
Hes the king of the jungle jive
Look at that caveman go!
(*scream*)
He rides through the jungle tearin limbs offa trees
(*scream*)
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
And knocking great big monsters dead on their knees
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
Other cats dont bug him cos they know better
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
cos hes a mean motor scooter and a bad go-getter
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
Well, uh, hes the toughest man there is alive
Alley oop
Wears clothes from a wildcats hide
Alley oop
Hes a hully gully king of jive
(*laugh*)
Well look at that caveman go!
(*scream*)
There he goes
(there he goes.)
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
Look at that caveman go
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
Ride, daddy, ride
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
Heigh-ho, dinosaur
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
Oh my goodness, what a big brute he is! hm!
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
Oh, how would you like a dinosaur like that, for your own? mm!
(*laughter*)
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
(g minor. d7.)
(what now? what now? )
(just give me a minute.)

Little Harry

Harold was an evil child
Conceived on a stolen train
Born in a sack from a prostitutes back
He had murder on his brain

As a babe he took the greatest joy
In spitting on his Mother’s breast
He would wait till she was near asleep
Then scream to break her rest

At Two he strangled an alley cat
And orphaned all her kittens
At Three he murdered all of those
With blood he felt quite smitten

Four and Five were dreadful years
As Harold only worsened
To become at the tender age of six
A most formidable person

He’d wear his knickers day and night
In a knot atop his head
By day he’d make up murder songs
At night his mind burned red

For blood this little chap did thirst
He yearned for life to cease
He killed his mum, his dad, his aunt,
His little brother Reece

And finally, the little sod
Climbed the house’s highest shelf
The final act, the curtain fall
Little Harry killed himself

Sorry

Just look at me know
Because Im tired of yelling
Look at me now
Its only me Im selling
Im not willing to trade
My life to make the sale
You turn me around
You put me down
Look at me now
Im hanging out my heart to dry
For the last time
Ill tell you the reason why
Its for the last time
Laid back uptown turnaround people - lie
Laid back uptown turnaround people - wear disguises
Sorry a word they only use too late
Sorry is a word that only ever means forgive my yesterdays
Laid back uptown turnaround people - lie
Laid back uptown turnaround people - wear disguises
And sorry thats a word they can only use too late
Sorry is a word that only ever means forgive my yesterdays
(sorry)
Here I am loving you
You lay you lay so quietly
I can feel your breath upon my skin
Afterglow came suddenly
With you it always did
Im hanging out my heart to dry
For the last time
Ill tell you the reason why
Its for the last time
Laid back uptown turnaround people - lie
Laid back uptown turnaround people - wear disguises
They say sorry thats a word
They only use too late
Sorry is a word that only ever means

Where The Sidewalk Ends

Where the sidewalk ends
And the road begins
We said good bye
On a cold dark night
Im not afraid to go
You bet Im not
Where the sidewalk ends
You left a lot
Some people leave
And never come back
Some stay in touch
Some loose track
Your mind kept sayin
Come on lets go
You started learnin
What you dont need to know
Where the sidewalk ends
And the road begins
Ill wait for you
In the cold dark night
You might come back
You had to go
Where the sidewalk ends
Ill never know
Hide from the future
Run from the past
I guess Ill stay here
As long as I can last
Whistle still blowin
But the train is gone
Aint no wheels
Gonna take me from my home
Where the sidewalk ends
And the road begins
We said good bye
On a cold dark night
Im not afraid to go
You bet Im not
Where the sidewalk ends
You left a lot
Im not afraid to go
You bet Im not
Where the sidewalk ends
You left a lot
Where the sidewalk ends
And the road begins
We said good bye
On a cold dark night
Im not afraid to go
You bet Im not
Where the sidewalk ends
You left a lot

Five Years Dead

Uptown downtown
Havent seen your face around
Paper said you shot a man
Trigger happy punk down in chinatown
Youre five years dead
Sexy sue from hong kong
Asked around right or wrong
Outta town change your name
Or ya get five years with a ball and chain
Youre five years dead
Youre lifes on a steady tilt
I stand around and watch you wilt
Lose or win, never mattered--mattered to you
They always said youd fall apart
I took the bet, but I missed the mark
The kid was bad--bad from the start
Left, right, up and down
Same old runaround
Neighborhood professional
Your ass is runnin into the ground
Youre five years dead
Uptown downtown
Havent seen your face around
Paper said you shot a man
Trigger happy punk down in chinatown
Youre five years dead

Target

Uptown - downtown
No ones fussy Im a target
Black, white - day, night
No ones fussy Im a target
Somebody say Im crazy
Walking in this neighborhood
Say you cant be too careful
But that wont do no good
Im no one special
But any part of town
Someone could smile at me then
Shake my hand then gun me down
Uptown - downtown
No ones fussy Im a target
Black, white - day, night
No ones fussy Im a target
Somebody say Im crazy
Living in this crazy town
I say maybe youre just lazy
Got to either swim or drown
I know what Im doing
Im happy day to day
But then something happens
Takes my nerve away
Uptown - downtown
No ones fussy Im a target
Black, white - day, night
No ones fussy Im a target

Gypsy Jill

They're hanging Bill at eight o' clock,
And millions will applaud.
He killed, and so they have to kill,
Such is the will of God.
His brother Tom is on my bed
To keep me comforted.

I see his bleary, blotchy face,
I hear his sodden snore.
He plans that he can take Bill's place;
I felt worse than a whore
As in his arms I cried all night,
Thinking of poor Bill's plight.

I keep my eyes upon the clock;
It nears the stroke of eight.
I think how bravely Bill will walk
To meet his gallows fate . . .
His loaded gun is in the tent,--
I know now what he meant.

Though Tom is boastful he will wed
With me, no more to part,
I'll put a bullet through his head,
Another through my heart:
At eight, stone-dead we three will be,
--Bill, Tom and me.

Deep In The Jungle

Haumbambayahumbambaheyahumbambayahe
You better start thinking, this is not a girl
Believe in yourself then you can make this a nice world
This is the place, that we're livin'in
Enjoy your life, be fair and you will win
Don't fake the truth and say there is nothing
Cause you know so well, there is something
I play no games, I don't tell no lies
I'm in a deep deep jungle, I can see it in your eyes
Haumbambayahumbambaheyahumbambayahe
I'm in the jungle
Haumbambayahumbambaheyahumbambayahe
I'm in the deep deep jungle
Haumbambayahumbambaheyahumbambayahe
I'm in the jungle
Haumbambayahumbambaheyahumbambayahe
I'm in the deep deep jungle
It was great, you know what I mean
I opened my eyes and it was a dream
It's dream, what I'm talking about
From left to the right and that's all without
Without pain, no gain another hit no brain
And by the way the shame it wouldn't be the same
I play no games, I don't tell no lies
I'm in a deep deep jungle, I can see it in your eyes

Penthouse & Pavement

Sweat my youth away
With the rules we have to play
Speeding through your magazine
Pistol, pavement, no t.v.
Talk and talk
No time, night time
Burnt inside
Here comes the daylight, here comes my job
Uptown in the penthouse or downtown with the mob
Here comes the night time, here comes my role
Goodbye to the pavement, hello to my soul
Now here comes my job
Credit, bleeding with the mob
Dreams become ideals
No one knows the way I feel
Love to love
Daytime, right time
All my life
Here comes the daylight, here comes my job
Uptown in the penthouse or downtown with the mob
Here comes the night time, here comes my role
Goodbye to the pavement, hello to my soul
Feel safe in the crowd
An no one admits theyre crying aloud
My career fits like a glove
Knowing no orders can come from above
Work and work
Full time, part time
Anytime at all
As you face the wall
God make it this time or never at all
Before your chance has gone
Captain this lead role and youll be the one
Shine and shine
This time, my time
Make me free at last

El Blanco

Uptown - downtown
No se enredan - soy el blanco
Black, white - day, night
No se enredan - soy el blanco
Se dijo que loco estoy
Vagando por este barrio
Mire que tenga cuidado
Pero para que sirve
Se que nadie soy
Pero por donde ande
Me pudieram sonreir
Dar la mano y matarme
Uptown - downtown
No se enredan - soy el blanco
Black, white - day, night
No se enredan - soy el blanco
Se dijo que loco estoy
Viviendo en loca ciudad
Le digo que son vagos
O se nada, o se unde
Yo se lo, que hago,
Feliz dia tras dia
Pero pasa algo
Y un cobarde soy
Uptown - downtown
No se enredan - soy el blanco
Black, white - day, night
No se enredan - soy el blanco

Down Town

(words and music by duran duran)
Deliver use from evil, we go with the flow.
Heres a little secret, I think you ought to know.
Providers and abusers, they know where to go.
With sundays refugees, from sunday tv shows.
(downtown!) all of the way down
(downtown!) all of the way downtown
(downtown!) all of the way down
(downtown!) all of the way downtown..
Lets sink imagination, past your wildest while (all of the way downtown)
Go way delow, below, below, is it such a crime?
Ahhhh the uptown, cant teach you how to live,
They dont have the time
cos where Im gonna take you, is a state of mind.
Ahhoouu
(chorus)
You better learn to use your heart
You gotta loose your money
You better use it all up
cos you cant take it with you when youre going down..
You never come home babe
You never come home baby
And youll never be alone, all of the way downtown
All of the way downtown
You never come home babe
You never come home baby
And youll never be alone, all of the way downtown (down, down)
All of the way downtown
You never come home babe

Bloody Murder

Bloody murder bloody murder
Nothing tastes as sweet
As this delectable bloody murder
Even if this feeling is fleet

Oh didn’t I warn you then
When I said leave or you will pay
I’ll write this in deaths darkened pen
You should listen to what I say

Don’t turn back the blades not still
Don’t look back the bloods still warm
Who said I had no will to kill
Who said I was innocent in every form

Crackle like the madman listen and hear
There’s nothing worse than a broke mind
Soon he shall see my name clear
You think these bonds truly bind

Once again I’m free but none the less trapped
Thinking clearly as his words chain
Kept in a cage so my mentality he sapped
So I do as he says, broken from the pain

On the loose again playing his game
Running from an evil only I know
For my mind he has laid claim
Because under his thumb am I below

I am his shiny loyal toy
I am the one who can
Murder in silence and act so coy
Because I’m his broke assassin, a perfect hit man

Take Another Road

Take another road
By: jimmy buffett, jay oliver, roger guth
1989
Seen the false horizons fade away like bisons
Headed for the jungle, cowboy cant endure
Never look back, thats what he swore
Ill take my pony to the shore
Somewhere, somewhere
Chorus:
Take another road to a hiding place
Disappear without a trace
Take another road to another time
On another road in another time
Like a novel from the five and dime
Take another road another time
Follow the equator, like that old articulator
Sail upon the ocean (oooh, sail away) just like mr. twain
Never look back, this is my plan
Run my pony through the sand
Somewhere, somewhere
Chorus:
Take another road to a hiding place
Disappear without a trace
Take another road to another time
On another road in another time
Like a novel from the five and dime
Take another road another time
Leave my cares behind
Take my own sweet time (take my own sweet time (time))
Oceans on my mind
Chorus:
Take another road to a hiding place
Disappear without a trace
Take another road to another time
On another road in another time
Like a novel from the five and dime
Take another road another time
Take another road to a hiding place
Disappear without a trace
Take another road to another time
On another road in another time

Take another road another time

Spent My Youth in an Alley

Went back this weekend out of town
For a family birthday party
To where I spent
Some of my youth

Backing my sister in-law's car
Out of her garage
Into the alley behind her house
Brought back some memories

Drove slowly as I bumped along
Over old potholes
Who's supposed to fill them now
Heavy brush and blackberries on both sides

Ahead of me was a young boy on his bike
He had a bouncing empty wagon forced to follow
Tied with a frayed piece of scrap rope
To the seat post of the bike

Another boy was following
As fast as he could on foot
This was only a couple of blocks
From the alley where I used to play

Alleys are great
Protected from traffic and parent's eyes
Old man Mitchell's dogs would warn us
If anyone was coming

Back then my alley
Had fresh oil and gravel
If the city truck didn't come in time
My grandfather kept the potholes filled

Brought the fill home from work
In the bed of his pickup
Sometimes I'd get to help him shovel
I asked him why he did it

'I'm not paying to get
Your grandmother's car realigned again
How in the hell
Does she find every new pothole? '

Once we were done
I'd get to wash his truck
Sit behind the steering wheel
And pretend

Nothing disappointing when the alley was young
Fresh oil and gravel
All the wild blackberries you could eat
What more could you want

When I took my sister in-law's car back
The boys were gone
Without them playing in the alley
It's just a dusty shadow-ridden place

Bed Of Flowers

i found myself in a bed of flowers
looking up towards the sky
i laid there inhaling the sweet
fragrances of the flowers
and thinking of you and i.

the fragrances tickled my nostrils
and the memories flooded back in
thinking of all the joys we had
and all the things we did.

every feature of your face
the color of your eyes
the way your hair fell upon your shoulders
and how you could hypnotize.

i felt your arms around me
the tenderness of your embrace
your soft tender kisses
kissing my neck
kissing my face
taking me back to another world,
another time
another place.

you had captured my heart with all that i saw
and in my heart live there
now and forever more.

i smell the fragrance of your body
and it fills me with delight.
i feel your presence near me
although you're not in sight.

all my five senses are reaching out to you
but you're not there
and i don't know what to do.

so i'll lie in this bed of flowers
until you finally arrive
and in my heart i know
that our hearts will both entwine.

The Alley

Durable kitten meddling around the alley
Hoping for miraculous savior and a place called home
Convincing voices broke the quiet night
Patrons and pathetic pouring in incessantly
As the clock labored and ticking flawlessly
A long stretch of antique shop houses were housing
Sympathetic women for sales
A sign of the world’s oldest profession at it’s high

Weird eyes glancing and captured
Typical extravaganza of stimulation
Sarcastic mixture of wilds scents
Ruining a solid strong marriages
And a bachelor’s virginity
They walked into the rooms upstairs
To taste the goodies of life
The night has not ended and negotiated

At the far end of the alley
Before the turning to the main city streets
A favorite and acclaimed heaven on earth
Man other’s anatomy
Transvestites of lovable worth every penny
Infamous and laid back
Nothing compares when you need
Indeed

Murder In Her Eyes

Some say she's bitter,
some say she's sweet.
They know her by her shimmer,
Oh how sometimes her crime can be so neat.

She makes her enemies real slick,
she makes her friends so easily.
Although her enemies slaughter is real quick,
but she's a generous person, really.

The murder in her eyes
reveals her disguise,
The taste of her enemies blood,
she cannot recognize.
She seeks for revenge
For only those who caused her agony and avenge.

The murder shows who she truly is.
The sweet girl with a bloody blade in her hand.
Her enemies dead body laying on the floor
as she laughs and hounds as her enemies body rots to the core.

The murder in her eyes is severe...
Something that nobody dares to conquer

They laughed at her in the past,
She knew their life's wouldn't last.
The murder in her eyes hides the tides of her personality
for her enemy's, she loves to rec their reality.

No one ever thought she could do that.
Until they saw her true disguise which showed the murder...
Murder in her eyes.

Gasoline Alley Bred

Woman, get your head out of curlers.
Time get your butt out of bed.
Get down your hats and baggage, my child.
Going back home,
going back to the homestead.
I'm a-gonna heat me some water,
and put a shine upon my shoes.
Telephone my ma,
Keep the room above Joe's
'Cause we're coming back,
coming back to the homestead.
Everything is packed,
getting back to the homestead.
This time, this time we'll stay.
I know that we could have made it;
we had ideas in our heads.
And I wish somehow
we could have saved it
but we're Gasoline Alley bred.
Yet the years haven't really been wasted,
and I know it in my head.
We did good for the life that we've tasted
'cause we're Gasoline Alley, Gasoline Alley bred
Woman, you can really believe it,
I did everything a man could do.
Breaking my back just to make us a dime.
That won't mean a damn
when no one wants to know you.
Woman, I know how you're feeling.
I've seen the hurt upon your face.
How many time do you think that I've cried?
Knowing every day that your heart was getting broken,
holdin' back your pride til you were nearly chokin'
Oh let's get away.

End Of The Line

End of the line
By g. allman, w. haynes, a. woody, and j. jaworowicz
(c) 1992 sony music entertainment, inc.
And now the gravity of trouble was more than I could bear,
At times my luck was so bad, I had to fold my hands,
Almost lost my soul, rarely I could find my head,
Wake up early in the morning, feeling nearly dead.
I was never afraid of danger, took trouble on the chin,
Mountains I have climbed, that have killed a thousand men,
Spent most of my lifetime downtown, sleepin behind the wheel,
Never needed anybody, I was king of the hill.
[chorus:]
Oh, when I think about the old days,
Lord, it sends chills up and down my spine,
Yeah life aint what it seems, on the boulevard of broken dreams,
Guess I opened my eyes in the nick of time,
cause it sure felt like the end of the line.
No matter how hard I run, I just cant get away
I try to do my best, but the devil gets in my way
Spent most of my lifetime downtown, sleepin behind the wheel
till it all came down to kill or be killed
