Sonnet 12

Clouds rosy-tinted in the setting sun,
Depths of the azure eastern sky between,
Plains where the poplar-bordered highways run,
Patched with a hundred tints of brown and green, --
Beauty of Earth, when in thy harmonies
The cannon's note has ceased to be a part,
I shall return once more and bring to these
The worship of an undivided heart.
Of those sweet potentialities that wait
For my heart's deep desire to fecundate
I shall resume the search, if Fortune grants;
And the great cities of the world shall yet
Be golden frames for me in which to set
New masterpieces of more rare romance.

On My Lips

To work like a donkey in Asia and,
To eat like a monkey in Africa;
We are down to earth to stand out among others,
And from'dreamontology' to 'dondoorlogy' to set up my muse.

Deep in my heart and sweet on my lips,
Of the flowers of beauty around me;
And i have the hole to hide away my fears.

Romance sweet romance,
And sundenly it was all over between us;
But the bottom of my heart is always true.

El Extraviado

Over the radiant ridges borne out on the offshore wind,
I have sailed as a butterfly sails whose priming wings unfurled
Leave the familiar gardens and visited fields behind
To follow a cloud in the east rose-flushed on the rim of the world.

I have strayed from the trodden highway for walking with upturned eyes
On the way of the wind in the treetops, and the drift of the tinted rack.
For the will to be losing no wonder of sunny or starlit skies
I have chosen the sod for my pillow and a threadbare coat for my back.

Evening of ample horizons, opaline, delicate, pure,
Shadow of clouds on green valleys, trailed over meadows and trees,
Cities of ardent adventure where the harvests of Joy mature,
Forests whose murmuring voices are amorous prophecies,

World of romance and profusion, still round my journey spread
The glamours, the glints, the enthralments, the nurture of one whose feet
From hours unblessed by beauty nor lighted by love have fled
As the shade of the tomb on his pathway and the scent of the winding-sheet.

I never could rest from roving nor put from my heart this need
To be seeing how lovably Nature in flower and face hath wrought, --
In flower and meadow and mountain and heaven where the white clouds breed
And the cunning of silken meshes where the heart's desire lies caught.

Over the azure expanses, on the offshore breezes borne,
I have sailed as a butterfly sails, nor recked where the impulse led,
Sufficed with the sunshine and freedom, the warmth and the summer morn,
The infinite glory surrounding, the infinite blue ahead

Sing This Heart Back To Me

This heart that slept the beauty sleep
And dreamt of daylight drums of joy
This heart that dived abyss too deep

Sing this heart bring this heart
Bring this heart back to me

For there will be no more no heart
No no more heart
No no more heart to beat in me

This heart that leaped this heart that burned
In ashes smashed and crushed and rocked
This heart your heart it never learned

Sing this heart sink not this heart
Think not this heart belongs just to me

For there will be no more no heart
No no more heart
No no more heart to sing in me

This heart that shared your heart that dared
To see too much of the heart in me

Sing this heart bring this heart
Bring this heart back to me

For there will be no more no heart
No no more heart
No no more heart to dream in me

This heart your heart my heart toy heart
Sink not this heart choke not this heart

Sing this heart bring this heart
Bring this heart back to me

That I can cling to this heart
Sing to this heart
Bring my heart back to me

The Earth Is

(graham russell, michael sherwood)
Theres a man with the smallest of worlds in his hand
And a tear fills his eyes as he tries to hang on
Holding his world together
Theres a girl in the other half of the sky
And shes wondering why her planet should sigh
Dont you want me round forever
The earth is too small to be divided
Sunrise, moonfall, deep in the heart
A part of everyone
And we cant wait anymore, the time has come
And those who need something more will feel the sun
Were sharing one
The earth is too small to be divided
Sunrise, moonfall, deep in the heart
A part of everyone
And we cant wait anymore, the time has come
Youve got your foot in the door
Get through somehow, break through somehow
The earth is too small to be divided
Sunrise, moonfall, deep in the heart
A part of everyone

A vision to cloth the Sky

the swing of the flocking birds, signal the
morning is coming, the wind surfing over the head
trees and the laughing joy of ducks, whistle the
unending beginning of a morning sky of happiness

rushing the stupid of a dream to a raining
clouds, has stop waiting the lightning to spark for
light to explode the vision of a great day to come in
the rainbow of victory, aim to bring the night to a new
day to come

like a laudable joke comes no audience to
laugh but a regret to jump and cry for something for
another play life has nothing but for a chance to play
again the melody of a sweet return; the show is not over,
it’s still on the stage, just play your role and welcome to
the great show

let the milk lips in our mind the head stand firm
and wait the unending servant hood never fades, goes
where it may go and live according to the heart that call
to a place dream off, as destiny live in your soul

triumphantly share the perfume of your heart
and lay every soul ponder, the joy of your presence, all
will come in many victorious aroma, your dream has
conquer our lasting memory of your desire; the goodness
lives in your life rekindle in every moment we remember
your return my dear Lady President

splendid Sarah Pelin, be a part of our joy…..we will wait
of your return……….a splendid victory rejoice!

Diaspora

From this plains i see a diaspora
of brown butterflies fluttering towards
the western side of this little earth
where i am merely one of the stewards.

I could have told them to stay as I still
have a lot of red roses to offer but
they are not listening because the
song the green song of the west
is so enticing.

I ask the eastern wind to sing the songs
of the kabuki and the cebuano guitar
and the nose flute of my great sultans
and the agongs of the Malayan caravan,
but they're not listening

Now, the tides changed. The West wind
is harsh and the trees there too unfriendly.

I see the brown butterflies crushed to death.
Thousands of them.

I sit here weeping, singing the song of the
of the ever faithful eastern winds.
There is no one to blame.

Shall I ever let

Shall I ever let my fancy and dream to roam
To bring this rare pleasure and conjure it back home
At touch this pleasure and memory melts
Like bubbles of water when the rain pelts

Nature has withhold Catherine beauty across the wide skies
What an adornment for the human eyes for next thousands of years
She has taken their cream of beauty, fairest dyes
And shaped and tinted sweet Catherine above all peers

When I behold her on the earth descend
My heart begins to throb and to burn; only in pains
This is my fancy and dreams that melt and vanish; my sad life's end
Love has poured her slaying beauty into my veins

Blue Savannah

Blue savannah song
Oh its a blue savannah song
Somewhere cross the desert
Sometime in the early hour
In a restless world
On the open highways
My home is where the heart is
Sweet to surrender to you only
I send my love to you
Blue savannah song
Oh its a blue savannah song
Racing cross the desert
At a hundred miles an hour
To the orange side
Through the clouds and thunder
Home is where the heart is
Sweet to surrender to you only
I send my love to you
Im on my way back
And your love will bring me home
Im travelling fast
And your love will bring me home
Will I discover
That your love will bring me home?
Somewhere cross the desert
Sometime in the early hour
To the orange side
Through the clouds and thunder
My home is where the heart is
Sweet to surrender to you only
I send my love to you

The Joy from Water

Water, you send joy to my heart
To flow like an inspiring art
In the moment of fresh sunlight,
Given succour so sweet and bright.

Of what manner does your joy bring?
Flowing so that my heart did sing
Of the wind that came with splendour,
Wondrous in it to add colour.

Water, my heart is made calm as a dove
By your joy that comforts with love.
How it places my heart so good
That it does it with brightened mood.

Yet my heart truly shines with beams,
Dressed with pleasures more than sweet dreams.
Your water made it to feel higher
With life of so much deep desire.

Water, with vigour your joy heals
My heart so nicely that it feels.
So great that my heart now smiles deep
With warm rays of the sun to keep.

Grass

The world is all one smother of grass,
Waves of it rolling deep and green,
Clothing the paddocks’ gentle slope,
Laughing the brown tree-trunks between.
And some are praising the brilliant flowers,
The beauty of foliage as they pass,
But I am drinking its glory in
And thanking the Lord for grass, for grass!

The air is a-murmur with rippling sound
From jubilant creeks long fed with rain,
Singing of drought and travail past
And a bounteous earth drown young again-
An earth that is telling its thankfulness
With passionate rapture too deep for words
In acres and acres of waving grass,
Haven of promise to starving herds.

There’s a tangle of bloom in its moist green shade,
Mottled yam-flowers and gentians blue,
Small white stars that are honey sweet,
And nodding bluebells all drenched with dew.
And oh! The breath of its incense rare
As the summer breezes over it pass,
My heart is thrilling with voiceless prayer
And thanking the Giver of things for grass.

The Doves Of Venus

The dull earth swung in silence o’er,
A dreamless world, a dreary star,
Until the doves of Venus bore
To Thessaly her ivory car.
She whispered to the sea and air,
And lightly with her wand she smote
The solid earth, till everywhere
The birds gave forth a sweeter note.
Whereat the sun did brighter shine,
More richly did the roses blow,
And like deep peace, a joy divine
Did fill the souls of men below.
And still are showered her magic arts
On man and maiden hand in hand,
Who hear a music in their hearts
Which none but they can understand.
A sweeter perfume sheds the rose,
A deeper azure tints the sky,
And softly with the daylight’s close
The doves of Venus hover nigh.
Thus oft, to earth doth she return
To strip the scales from mortal eyes,
And sends us Love, that we may learn
How Earth may yet be Paradise.

Sonnet- There Ain't Much Time

The skin just clads the flesh and bones of frame;
Be it black or brown, pink, yellow or white;
For that matter, your God, don't ever blame;
All human Beings are one in His Sight.

Some have a nature sweet that few possess;
Some have a beauty rare of mind and heart;
Let not the problems of the world obsess;
Lets do our duty to God 'fore we part.

There is no time to fret and fume on earth;
There is no time to waste on self, others;
There is no time for many things since birth;
There is no time to blame the next, brothers.
The world takes care of itself if need be;
Lets listen to our conscience truly.

Blessings

God bless the little orchard brown
Where the sap stirs these quickening days.
Soon in a white and rosy gown
The trees will give great praise.

God knows I have it in my mind,
The white house with the golden eaves.
God knows since it is left behind
That something grieves and grieves.

God keep the small house in his care,
The garden bordered all in box,
Where primulas and wallflowers are
And crocuses in flocks.

God keep the little rooms that ope
One to another, swathed in green,
Where honeysuckle lifts her cup
With jessamine between.

God bless the quiet old grey head
That dreams beside the fire of me,
And makes home there for me indeed
Over the Irish Sea.

The Heart Of Worship

When the music fades
All is stripped away
And I simply come
Longing just to bring
Something that's of worth
That will bless Your heart
I'll bring You more than a song
For a song in itself
Is not what You have required
You search much deeper within
Through the way things appear
You're looking into my heart
I'm coming back to the heart of worship
And it's all about You,
It's all about You, Jesus
I'm sorry, Lord, for the thing I've made it
When it's all about You,
It's all about You, Jesus
King of endless worth
No one could express
How much You deserve
Though I'm weak and poor
All I have is Yours
Every single breath
I'll bring You more than a song
For a song in itself
Is not what You have required
You search much deeper within
Through the way things appear
You're looking into my heart
I'm coming back to the heart of worship
And it's all about You,
It's all about You, Jesus
I'm sorry, Lord, for the thing I've made it
And it's all about You,
It's all about You, Jesus
I'm coming back to the heart of worship,
And it's all about You,
It's all about You, Jesus

November

Red o’er the forest peers the setting sun;
The line of yellow light dies fast away
That crown’d the eastern copse; and chill and dun
Falls on the moor the brief November day.

Now the tired hunter winds a parting note,
And Echo bids good-night from every glade;
Yet wait awhile and see the calm leaves float
Each to his rest beneath their parent shade.

How like decaying life they seem to glide
And yet no second spring have they in store;
And where they fall, forgotten to abide
Is all their portion, and they ask no more.

Soon o’er their heads blithe April airs shall sing,
A thousand wild-flowers round them shall unfold,
The green buds glisten in the dews of Spring,
And all be vernal rapture as of old.

Unconscious they in waste oblivion lie,
In all the world of busy life around
No thought of them—in all the bounteous sky
No drop, for them, of kindly influence found.

Man’s portion is to die and rise again:
Yet he complains, while these unmurmuring part
With their sweet lives, as pure from sin and stain
As his when Eden held his virgin heart.

The Fairy's Quest (Verses For The Children).

As the Fairy Queen sat on her gossamer throne
That sparkled with pearls of dew,
She suddenly cried to a sprite at her side-
'A mission 1 have for you!
Go, search every country and continent,
Till you find the jewel men call Content.'

Away at her bidding the fairy sped,
In quest of the gem so rare;
In north and in south, in east and in west,
He sought for it everywhere
From the frozen realm of the great Ice-King,
To the Eastern groves where the bulbuls sing.

Long days, and weeks, and months went by,
And still his quest was vain.
He sought it in many a monarch's Court,
And in Beauty's glittering train ;
But neither in crown, nor in diadem,
Could he find a trace of the precious gem.

While resting one day by a peasant's cot,
There fell on the fairy's ear
The sound of laughter rippling sweet,
And of melody, joyous and clear,
Which rose, like the thrush's wood-notes wild,
From the young mother's lips, as she fondled her child.

''Tis surely here where Content must be!'
He cried, with a sudden start.
Then his fairy eyes pierced the inmost depths
Of that peasant mother's heart:
And found at last was the treasure rare,
For, lo! the jewel he sought was there !

Love Poem

Yours is the face that the earth turns to me,
Continuous beyond its human features lie
The mountain forms that rest against the sky.
With your eyes, the reflecting rainbow, the sun's light
Sees me; forest and flower, bird and beast
Know and hold me forever in the world's thought,
Creation's deep untroubled retrospect.

When your hand touches mine it is the earth
That takes me--the green grass,
And rocks and rivers; the green graves,
And children still unborn, and ancestors,
In love passed down from hand to hand from God.
Your love comes from the creation of the world,
From those paternal fingers, streaming through the clouds
That break with light the surface of the sea.

Here, where I trace your body with my hand,
Love's presence has no end;
For these, your arms that hold me, are the world's.
In us, the continents, clouds and oceans meet
Our arbitrary selves, extensive with the night,
Lost, in the heart's worship, and the body's sleep.

The Death Of Richard Wagner

Mourning on earth, as when dark hours descend,
Wide-winged with plagues, from heaven; when hope and mirth
Wane, and no lips rebuke or reprehend
Mourning on earth.

The soul wherein her songs of death and birth,
Darkness and light, were wont to sound and blend,
Now silent, leaves the whole world less in worth.

Winds that make moan and triumph, skies that bend,
Thunders, and sound of tides in gulf and firth,
Spake through his spirit of speech, whose death should send
Mourning on earth.

The world's great heart, whence all things strange and rare
Take form and sound, that each inseparate part
May bear its burden in all tuned thoughts that share
The world's great heart -

The fountain forces, whence like steeds that start
Leap forth the powers of earth and fire and air,
Seas that revolve and rivers that depart -

Spake, and were turned to song: yea, all they were,
With all their works, found in his mastering art
Speech as of powers whose uttered word laid bare
The world's great heart.

From the depths of the sea, from the wellsprings of earth, from the wastes of the midmost night,
From the fountains of darkness and tempest and thunder, from heights where the soul would be,
The spell of the mage of music evoked their sense, as an unknown light
From the depths of the sea.

As a vision of heaven from the hollows of ocean, that none but a god might see,
Rose out of the silence of things unknown of a presence, a form, a might,
And we heard as a prophet that hears God's message against him, and may not flee.

Eye might not endure it, but ear and heart with a rapture of dark delight,
With a terror and wonder whose core was joy, and a passion of thought set free,
Felt inly the rising of doom divine as a sundawn risen to sight
From the depths of the sea.
