When I borne,
I was the symbol of truth
As i grew, Evil I gathred
Knew not! ......
When I transformed
From Gangotri to Salty sea
From Gangotri to Salty sea........

From The Banks Of Ganga: VI
The pace set at Gangotri
Never beyond the banks
Some swam for fun
Some dared on rafts
Some took a dip
I washed my feet!
Some offered aarthi
Some offered prasad
Some simply looked at her
I offered myself!
None or nothing
Mattered to her
She flowed…

I guarantee
My words are not here
To mislead you.
See, it is clear
And visible.
My words are clear
Like Harishankar falling water
Like Gangotri pure water.
My words are pious.
Confidence be taken in to
And I guaranteed
You would not wander.

From the Banks of Ganga: III
Who tends these trees
Thick and green on the hill slopes?
Who for do they bear leaf?
Who for do they feast?
Who created this waterfall
Of unseen origin trickling
From between the trees into the Ganga
Ganga mai
The eternal mother
Creator and destroyer
Ganga mai
Who sustains and devours
Ma, Ganga
I approach you
A child, hungry and forlorn
Longing to retreat into your womb
To be nurtured
And to be re-born!

Salty Salty
Hey sailor, what you think, hey buy a girl a drink
That was the first thing she said to me
I was on dry land but I was back at sea
She was so pretty but she was so mean
Cmon boys, Im sure youve been
Chorus:
Na, na, na, na, na salty salty
Na, na, na, na, na salty salty
Hey mama whats your name, hey whats it matter
You just tied up from your long voyage
Im sure gonna make you feel better
She was a beauty she was so good
Doin her duty now its understood
Chorus:
Hey lady, whats your game, hey can I play it
Everybody knows when the price is right
So just come out and say it
She was a beauty she was so good
Doin her duty now its understood.

At The Level Crossing
Here I come to a halt
At the closed doorstep
Of the level crossing
On my daily path.
From the ashes
Of the driver’s seat
I rise like a Phoenix
And in no time get lost in the remains
Of a drowsy past.
There, I delicately felt
The dry petals of a red rose,
The clumsy lines of a crumpled love-letter,
And broken smiles of a pair of white lips
Pronouncing a few unintelligible
Alphabet at the parting time.
And I lend my anxious ears
To the dying echo of her
Receding footsteps overtaking me
During a heavy moment.
I also remember
How I pitied all and sundry
Who hastened to console me,
For they claimed to decipher
The language of my tears silently flowing
From the Gangotri of my eyes.
Here I wake up
On hearing the deafening honk
And metallic commotion
Of throbbing automobiles at my back,
As the level crossing opens
Before my eyes.
The Sea is a Salty Road
Come with me to Calico Beach
Where Peppy Creek runs down to the sea,
Where squawking flocking seagulls screech
And powerful pompous pelicans preach:
For the sea is a salty road, oh yes!
The sea is a salty road.
There's a tangerine sun over Calico Beach
Where walloping waves strike snaggletoothed cliffs,
Where gadabout gulls get about all day
And tangled spangled seaweed drifts,
And the sea is a salty road, oh yes!
The sea is a salty road.
We shall roost on a rock that the tides cannot reach
While a prominent porpoise delivers a speech
About chasing the tuna and hunting the squid
Whose inky secretions keep her well hid.
We shall squawk at the gulls and bark at the sea lions
Who waddle about on the calico sands,
For they tell tall tales to the penguins and puffins
While chasing the ocean away from the land,
And the sea is a salty road, oh yes!
The sea is a salty road!
Oh we shall have an entertollicking time
By the hooligan cliffs on Calico Beach
After the plump sun plops in the bay
And the marigold moon pops up to play.
The ocean fandagoes, the starfish cavort!
With vociferous vigor, we’ll wobble and snort,
Hopping and clapping by the zestful sea,
Sipping our frisky phenomenal tea,
For the sea is a salty road, oh yes!
The sea is a salty road.
Next day we'll embark in our Bumblebee boat.
On the merry melodious sea we'll float,
Where breakers loom and surf-flowers bloom
And whales and seals and dolphins zoom.
Up and down and around and around
Where mountains and fountains of waters abound,
Swigging our bubbly broth as we brave
The tempusterous blusterous flusterous waves,
How gleeful and freeful and wild will be we,
Riding the turbulent tides of the sea
For the sea is a salty road, oh yes!
The sea is a salty road.

The Salty Sea
Oh, how I love the salty sea,
And if it were up to me,
I would stay there night and day,
While felling it's soft, sweet spray.
I would sit on the salty sea shore,
Watching the seagulls dip and soar.
I would sit on the sand, soft and white,
And stay 'till the sun was out of sight.
When the sea tide is low,
I will stay while it tickles my toes.
When the sea tide is high,
I will not bid it good-bye.
Oh, how I love the salty sea,
I wish it belonged just to me.
If I could hold my breathe forever,
I would never move, never!
So, on the sand I would lay,
And wait for the tide to take me away...
Oh, how I love the sea!

Rivers
Fate is birth of a woman
Like a river from nature's opening..
Peaceful ignorance to virgin innocence
Maturated to course fierce over confinement
Scurrying for peace from bitten life however
Peace-borne is river Ganga
Like a woman's birth ataraxic
Beauteous quiescence from sacred Providence
Saturated motherly with crocodiles sinning
Scurrying for peace from bitten life however
Nectarean is river Viraja
Like nectarous Ganga from Providence
Rimming devout around SriVaikunt..
Assuasive cleansing to blemished souls
Affirming salvation to Vishnu Lokha however

From the Banks of Ganga: I
Ganga,
What glaciers have
Melted in silence?
Ganga,
How many mighty glaciers
Now flow with a roar?
Ganga,
From the divine tresses
Through the sage’s ears
Carefully led for redemption
Trapped
Restive
ViolentFrom the mighty skies
Down the abode of gods
Humbled!
Ganga,
Amidst hills
Connecting the sky
And the earth
Ganga,
Scintillating
Sonorous
Desire too flowed
The desire to gather
Ganga to my bosom!
Ganga,
At the foot of the hills
I stand in supplication
At the divine feet

The water from the river becomes salty when it reaches the ocean.
River Turned Puddle
river running wild; river running free.
salty. blue. clear. river.
surging over the hills and valleys of a face
untill SPLASH-like a waterfall
you hit the bottom of a gorge
joining your fallen comrades in a puddle on the ground.
I'd Rather Be Fishing
When you cast your bait into the sea
isn't it marvelous that you can't really see
what's nibbling around it, circlin' your way?
For most of the fun of a good fishing day
is the surprise of the catch
that's been tuggin' on your line.
The feeling you get when you say, 'You're mine.'
And in the event that your catch gets away
all it does is prolong your stay.
And isn't that why you love to fish?
You're close to the sea and the salty air.
There's nothing like it anywhere.
So grab your pole, your rod and line
and head out to the salty brine.
Dedicated to my husband Lee who is an avid fisherman.

How Salty Win Out
I used to think that luck wuz luck and nuthin' else but luck--
It made no diff'rence how or when or where or why it struck;
But sev'ral years ago I changt my mind, an' now proclaim
That luck's a kind uv science--same as any other game;
It happened out in Denver in the spring uv '80 when
Salty teched a humpback an' win out ten.
Salty wuz a printer in the good ol' Tribune days,
An', natural-like, he fell into the good ol' Tribune ways;
So, every Sunday evenin' he would sit into the game
Which in this crowd uv thoroughbreds I think I need not name;
An' there he'd sit until he rose, an', when he rose, he wore
Invariably less wealth about his person than before.
But once there came a powerful change; one sollum Sunday night
Occurred the tidal wave that put ol' Salty out o' sight.
He win on deuce an' ace an' Jack--he win on king an' queen--
Clif Bell allowed the like uv how he win wuz never seen.
An' how he done it wuz revealed to all us fellers when
He said he teched a humpback to win out ten.
There must be somethin' in it, for he never win afore,
An' when he told the crowd about the humpback, how they swore!
For every sport allows it is a losin' game to luck
Agin the science uv a man who's teched a hump f'r luck;
And there is no denyin' luck wuz nowhere in it when
Salty teched a humpback an' win out ten.
I've had queer dreams an' seen queer things, an' allus tried to do
The thing that luck apparently intended f'r me to;
Cats, funerils, cripples, beggers have I treated with regard,
An' charity subscriptions have hit me powerful hard;
But what's the use uv talkin'? I say, an' say again:
You've got to tech a humpback to win out ten!
So, though I used to think that luck wuz lucky, I'll allow
That luck, for luck, agin a hump aint nowhere in it now!
An' though I can't explain the whys an' wherefores, I maintain
There must be somethin' in it when the tip's so straight an' plain;
For I wuz there an' seen it, an' got full with Salty when
Salty teched a humpback an' win out ten!

From The Banks Of Ganga II
Who lived atop
Those distant hills
Where flickered
A lamp or two
During the nights?
Come night
Ganga turns
Into an enchanting black beauty
Her hilly banks
And the sky:
One overwhelming
Sheet of darkness clinging to
The beautiful Ganga
Flowing in that stillness of night
Her skin shining in ripples of gold
Laughing in mirth
Singing a resonant melody
Along the flow
Ganga, the enchantress
Ganga, the mother
Ganga, the worshipful
Day or night
Little difference
To people who came to her
To pay their obeisance

River Ganga
River Ganga originates
from the himalayan glaciers
and flows down to earth
with a mystical, divine influence;
where immerses humans
their endless transgressions,
float around their mortal remains
to impure the heart of a holy river.
Is there a mountain on earth
or a source where one river flows
down to refurbish humans
and cleanse the stains of mind.
Is there a river on earth cursed
like Ganga to endure the burdens
of human submissions and surrender
on one credence and flow like
a silent tear dropp beneath
the moon lit sky..

Sour And Salty Taste
to choose between
the sweetest lie
and the bitterest
truth
the way you
evaded me
i guess
you have chosen
the former
my truths
are never sweet
i am also
both salty and
sour

Rejoice And Be Happy
Rejoice & be happy when they revile you, just like the Savior told us to do.
Rejoice & be glad when for His name's sake, they speak all manner of evil and against you they hate.
Blessed are you who are persecuted too, for righteousness & the good that you do, if in the bread you put a little leaven, the Kingdom is yours & it's the Kingdom of Heaven.
Rejoice & be happy when they revile you, just like the Savior told us to do.
Rejoice & be glad when for His name's sake, they speak all manner of evil and against you they hate.
Ye are the salt of the earth, if you're not salty, what are you worth?
Rejoice & be ye exceedingly glad for great is the reward in Heaven to be had for the prophets they did persecute too, unjust though it was, they came way before you.
Rejoice & be happy when they revile you, just like the Savior told us to do.
Rejoice & be glad when for His name's sake, they speak all manner of evil and against you they hate.
We are the salt of the earth, if we're not salty, what are we worth?
Rejoice & be happy when they revile you, just like the Savior told us to do.
Rejoice & be glad when for His name's sake, they speak all manner of evil and against you they hate.
Rejoice & be happy when they revile you, just like the Savior told us to do.
Rejoice & be glad when for His name's sake, they speak all manner of evil and against you they hate.

Phases
I.
There’s a little square in Paris,
Waiting until we pass.
They sit idly there,
They sip the glass.
There’s a cab-horse at the corner,
There's rain. The season grieves.
It was silver once,
And green with leaves.
There’s a parrot in a window,
Will see us on parade,
Hear the loud drums roll—
And serenade.
II.
This was the salty taste of glory,
That it was not
Like Agamemnon’s story.
Only, an eyeball in the mud,
And Hopkins,
Flat and pale and gory!
III.
But the bugles, in the night,
Were wings that bore
To where our comfort was;
Arabesques of candle beams,
Winding
Through our heavy dreams;
Winds that blew
Where the bending iris grew;
Birds of intermitted bliss,
Singing in the night's abyss;
Vines with yellow fruit,
That fell
Along the walls
That bordered Hell.
IV.
Death's nobility again
Beautified the simplest men.
Fallen Winkle felt the pride
Of Agamemnon
When he died.
What could London’s
Work and waste
Give him—
To that salty, sacrificial taste?
What could London’s
Sorrow bring—
To that short, triumphant sting?

Neighbor, Neighbor
Neighbor, neighbor, why you messin in my life?
Neighbor, neighbor, youve been talkin to my wife,
Tellin her you seen me
Runnin wild the other night,
Runnin wild the other night.
A neighbor, neighbor, theress always one in every crowd.
A neighbor, neighbor, tellin lies and talkin loud.
You better watch your step now.
You might fall off your cloud.
You might fall off your cloud.
Now I was walking down a dusty road
When along came a neighbor of mine.
He saw me walkin with my head hung down,
He just had to stop and pass the time.
Neighbor, neighbor, floatin in the salty brine.
Floatin in the salty brine.

Without Regret
Saddened memories,
I once held as property.
Who knew,
They would go...
When they grew,
Inside of me!
I now reflect,
Without regret.
I know now
Defeats I've met!
But who knew,
They would go...
When they grew,
Inside of me!
Those times
Stayed on my mind
For days at a time.
I used that to feed,
My own desperate needing.
I lived with anger and deceit!
I felt those feelings deep,
Within me!
Defeats I have met!
But who knew,
They would go...
When they grew,
Inside of me!
But...
Who knew,
They would go...
When they grew,
Inside of me!
Who knew,
Like I do now...
When they grew,
Somehow
They would go...
From inside of me!
