The Self Confidence Needed To Overcome
Self confidence is what is needed when one is down and out.
Being brave, being not ashamed of who you are.
Judgments will be placed with distaste.
And they do not have to be to your liking to overcome.
Don't be dumb and hide or run.
Instead face the adversity head on.
For this could change the very outcome.

I will overcome.
With adversity in full swing
I will rewrite it all.
Including who I am.

Listen to me a I scream.
My lungs are exploding.
No more mere whispers.
No more falling on deaf ears.
Killing every once of doubt.

My Brave Face
My brave face.
Ive been living in style
Unaccustomed as I am to the luxury life.
Ive been hitting the town and it didnt hit back.
Ive been doing the rounds
Unaccustomed as I am to the time on my hands.
Now I dont have to tell anybody when Im gonna get back.
Ever since you went away Ive had this sentimental
Inclination not to change a single thing.
As I pull the sheets back on the bed I want to go bury my head
In your pillow.

Skeltons In The Closet
We all have skeletons in the closet, that we all try to hide
but it is something that can’t be denied.
It may not be so severe, to a point that you
Just don’t care.
Or it may be something so drastically
That it would affect your life eventually.
It may have been a little lie to cover up a foul deed
Something that you hoped would not be seen.
It may have been cheating on a school test
Or picking up something that did not belong to you
And you figured what the hell, what can anyone do.
Having an affair with your best friends mate
And destroying their confidence and their faith,
Then turning around and lying to their face
Don’t you feel ashamed, don’t you feel disgrace.
What about when you lied to your parents
And said you was staying over a friends.
Then went out and partied all night
Got into words and then had a fight.
Then told your mother that you fell off the bed
And that was the reason your face was so red.
Aren’t these some of the skeletons that we try to hide
But sooner or later, they come outside.

The Man Who Gets Back On His Horse
A man who gets on the horse just to fall off is a great man indeed.
Not ashamed of what he yet does not know.
Ignorance can be overcome if we stop using such words as dumb.
For to belittle someone does very little for their self esteem.
You can speak the truth and tact still may be redeemed.
The proper approach is everything.
A way to explain without in some way offending their name.
Teachers know the technique all to well.
We must not dwell on those who still get angry.
Some no matter what you do can not be reached.
The child becomes the man.
And sometimes the environment damns them from the very beginning.
