My Beautiful Refuge
It has gone quite.
Where did everybody go.
Oh alone in this world.
An understanding with a promise.
A sacrifice with a price.
Straight through the gates hell.
Locked captive forever to be held.
Their is no key.
Their is no way to be free.
Four solid brick walls.
Their closing in.
Their shrinking.
And I'm suffocating.
Accepting and almost enjoying every minute of it.
A sickly need to be by myself.
Hiding my heart high upon a shelf.
I need it for nothing else.

Walls
Walls of stone and walls of brick,
Some walls thin and some walls thick,
Walls so high and walls so low,
Walls to hide and walls to show.
Walls quite short and walls quite tall,
Some walls, last well, some walls fall,
Walls for comfort, walls of hate,
Walls for security, walls ornate.
Some as a barricade, some to support,
Walls of wood and walls of iron wrought,
Walls as a barrier, walls to enclose,
Some are to sit on, some to lean and doze.
Walls we build ourselves, these aren't good,
Walls for privacy, walls that have stood,
So many years through weather foul or fine,

Beautiful Bird
You say that I am beautiful, but you have
Me locked up in this cage, every time I sing
My voice is full of rage.
If you truly loved me you would let me go
But you keep me locked up for all your friends to show.
I am not a show bird for you to put on display
I am a free spirit, and I have to go my way.
how can you keep me, when I don’t want to stay.
Open up this door and let me fly away.

I stand alone in this desolate space

there is a beautiful bird caged in my house
its flumes are red
its beak of course is black
its claws neat and clean
and cannot scratch
its eyes blank
its feathers dull

usually in the night before everyone sleeps
