(Blue Collar Poem) A Working Man
A working man does all he can
Just trying to make a living
To provide and survive
Till the next day comes by
Or he dies
Which ever comes first
For better or worst
rain or shine
Pay the bills
Feed and cloth the kids
Get in a fight with the wife
And hope she forgives
A working man does all he can
Just trying to make a living
To provide and survive
Till the next day comes by
Or he dies
Which ever comes first
For better or worse
Rain or shine
Go to the park
A day off
You feel so lost
How much will this cost
A working man does the best he can
Just trying to make a living
To provide and survive
Till the next day comes by
Or he dies
Which ever comes first
For better or worse
Rain or shine
Driving so fast
Your late
Hoping you don't get fired
Down to the wire
A working man does all he can
Just trying to make a living
To provide and survive
Till the next day comes by
Or he dies
Which ever comes first
For better or worse
Rain or shine
Another fight
Give her some roses
Say your sorry, and mean it.
Next thing you know
Your both removing all your cloths
A working man does all he can
Just trying to make a living
To provide and survive
Till the next day comes by
Or he dies
Which ever comes first
For better or worse
Rain or shine
Its still mine till the day I die

I Know A Man
I know a man.
Who does everything for everyone and expects nothing return.
Burning away the night sky.
Working till the day he dies.
Their is so much love in his eyes.
Their is never enough time.
A task overwhelming.
Taking over where you left off.
A promise of the selfless.
Memories of your younger days.
As age wears you thin.
You are still not ready give in.
Forever holding on to the towel.
Never willing to let it go.
I know a man.
Who does everything for everyone and expects nothing return.
Burning away the night sky.
Working till the day he dies.
Their is so much love in his eyes.
Their is never enough time.
Mercy of the angels.
Hardiness of a father.
Pushing me to go even farther.
When I need help you are always more then willing.
A priceless soul your building.
Lessons learned, lessons taught.
Somethings just can't be bought.
You never blame me you know its not my fault.
I know a man.
Who does everything for everyone and expects nothing return.
Burning away the night sky.
Working till the day he dies.
Their is so much love in his eyes.
Their is never enough time.
Sickly you become as the clock keeps on ticking right on bye.
But nobody cares.
They still have the same expectations.
And your delivery's take a deviation.
People get pissed cause your not as fast.
You want to pull down your pants and say kiss my white a double s.
But you hold your tongue.
For you know when all is said and done.
They'll have to just deal with you.
They at this point just don't have a clue.
I know a man.
Who does everything for everyone and expects nothing return.
Burning away the night sky.
Working till the day he dies.
Their is so much love in his eyes.
Their is never enough time.
You now have reached the end.
You look into my eyes.
And say I hope I have taught you well my son.
Cause it won't be long.
The reaper coming to take me home.
I'm sorry but its now where I belong.
Don't cry now.
For you must keep moving on.
Listen here boy, this has become our song.
I know a man.
Who does everything for everyone and expects nothing return.
Burning away the night sky.
Working till the day he dies.
Their is so much love in his eyes.
And their is never enough time.
Their is never enough time.

Soulshine
Transcribed by sean carpenter
When you cant find the light,
That got you through the cloudy days,
When the stars aint shinin bright,
You feel like youve lost youre way,
When those candle lights of home,
Burn so very far away,
Well you got to let your soul shine,
Just like my daddy used to say.
[chorus]
He used to say soulshine,
Its better than sunshine,
Its better than moonshine,
Damn sure better than rain.
Hey now people dont mind,
We all get this way sometime,
Got to let your soul shine, shine till the break of day.
I grew up thinkin that I had it made,
Gonna make it on my own.
Life can take the strongest man,
Make him feel so alone.
Now and then I feel a cold wind,
Blowin through my achin bones,
I think back to what my daddy said,
He said boy, in the darkness before the dawn:
[chorus]
Let your soul shine,
Its better than sunshine,
Its better than moonshine,
Damn sure better than rain.
Yeah now people dont mind,
We all get this way sometimes,
Gotta let your soul shine, shine till the break of day.
Sometimes a man can feel this emptiness,
Like a woman has robbed him of his very soul.
A woman too, God knows, she can feel like this.
And when your world seems cold, you got to let your spirit take control.
[chorus]
Let your soul shine,
Its better than sunshine,
Its better than moonshine,
Damn sure better than rain.
Lord now people dont mind,
We all get this way sometimes,
Gotta let your soul shine, shine till the break of day.
Oh, its better than sunshine,
Its better than moonshine,
Damn sure better than rain.
Yeah now people dont mind,
We all get this way sometimes,
Gotta let your soul shine, shine till the break of day.

Inequalities in the world
So much corruption,
so much hurt,
so much pain going on in the world,
so many people are treated unequally,
they haven't heard of equality,
they're exploited for everything they have a way of living from,
and we see the poverty infront of our eyes,
but it seems however hard we try,
it's always worse than before,
all these bloodthirsty wars,
pulverising our morals,
corrupting our purified souls,
grinding away at our faith,
discrimination progressing,
slowly generates hate,
predjudice blossoming angrilly on a dead tree,
so many people,
so many lives,
so many children are blatantly deprived,
so much greed,
so much is unfair,
we need to pull together for their welfare,
so many families struggling to survive,
all of these people have difficult lives,
yet we're complaining about working from nine till five,
if we swapped lives,
we wouldn't survive,
so why don't we realise,
that they're so many people,
so much of them are deprived?
We need to work together,
work as a team,
we can make this better,
we can make the world gleam.

Our Survival
We shall survive distance.
We shall survive space.
But can we survive the loneliness
that we have to face?
We shall survive winter.
We shall survive spring.
But can we survive the guilt
of the wedding ring?
We shall survive long nights.
We shall survive days.
But can we survive the longings
that always and forever stays?
We shall survive suspicion.
We shall survive fear.
But can we survive living
without each other, dear?
We shall survive all of this
if we put our love first.
We shall survive hunger.
We shall survive thirst
only if this love is true.

Sing For The Common Man
You may not know me now
But I have been around
Youll never see my name on any pages
Im just the common man
The fool who understands
The pain you go through
When life takes you under
So, sing for the common man
A song for the common man
He paid for the song with the sweat of his brow
He will survive, he will survive
You may not know my mother
My sisters or my brothers
Yet everyone has given for the other
You know the working man
He builds what others plan
So, everyone of us should sing his story
So, sing for the common man
A song for the common man
He paid for the song with the sweat of his brow
He will survive, he will survive
Dat after day
He keeps working away
In offices, factories, and farms
Year after year
He sheds tear after tear
He will provide, he will survive
So, sing for the common man
A song for the common man
He paid for the song with the sweat of his brow
He will survive, he will survive

Love Never Dies
You say you saw the dark side, baby
I know what gets you through the night
And love is like a red rose, baby
And so it's coming 'round again
If we can take the same direction
We find the road that never ends
'Cause love never dies
It goes on forever
Love never dies, love never dies
Love goes on forever
This is the love we've been talking about
You led her in 'till she couldn't get out
'Cause you made the little girl cry
No sad stories to deny
I go through the holy war for you, baby
You know, so you ain't got a prayer
I'll answer if you call for me, baby
I'm yours, to God above I swear
I only wanna live in the shadow you make
The soul that never lies
'Cause love never dies
It goes on forever
Love never dies, love never dies
Love goes on forever
You better run to the heart of the flame
She don't change like the sun and the rain
'Cause she don't understand why
You made the little girl cry
'Cause love never dies
It goes on forever
Love never dies, love never dies
Love goes on forever
This is the love we've been talking about
You led her in 'till she couldn't get out
'Cause you made the little girl cry
No sad stories to deny
You better run to the heart of the flame
She don't change like the sun and the rain
'Cause she don't understand why
You made the little girl cry

Follow The Money
Ive got to follow the money
Gotta go to work
Gotta make a living
Till my body hurts
Gotta bite my lip
Gotta wreck my health
Gotta break my back
For my share of wealth
(repeat)
Ive gotta the follow money
Gotta earn my pay
I spent everything
I earned yesterday
Gotta find the cash
cos it wont find me
So I can feed myself
And my family
When I left school I was bummin around
Id smoke and drink and let my mind wander
Id roll out of bed about twelve oclock
I cant do that any longer
Ive gotta folow the money
Gotta go to work
Gotta make a living
Till my body hurts
Gotta bite my lip
Gotta wreck my health
Gotta break my back
For my share of wealth
Now I need to toil cos its good for my soul
I feel clean when Im working
You drop all the mystical celtic bull
cos that stuffs just jerking
Im not saying that I work like my dad
I know I dont work like my mum
But Im made of the same stuff and Im six feet tall
Gimme the tools Ill get the job done
Gotta follow the money
Gotta go to work
Gotta make a living
Till my body hurts
Gotta bit my lip
Gotta break my back
For my share of wealth
Ive gotta follow the money
Gotta earn my pay
I spent everything
I earned yesterday
Gotta find the cash
cos it wont find me
So I can feed myself
And my family
Feed myself and my family
Thats why
Im working
Im working
Im working
Im working
Im working
Im working now

Till We Get The Healing Done
Down those old ancient streets
Down those old ancient roads
Baby there together we must go
Till we get the healing done
Till we get the healing done
Till youre satisfied with your life
Till youre satisfied with your life
Till youre satisfied with your life
And its running right, and its running right
Till you deal with the poison inside
Sometimes youve got to sit down and cry
When you deal with the poison inside
Till we get the healing done
Till we get the healing done
Till you feel the tingle up your spine
Till youre satisfied and youre mine
Till you feel a tingle up your spine
Till we get the healing done
Till we get the healing done
Till you live in the glory of the one
Till you live in the land of the sun
Till you feel like your life has just begun
Till we get the healing done
Till we get the healing done
Till we dwell in the house of the lord
Till you dont have to worry no more
Till you open a brand new world
Till we get the healing done
Till we get the healing done
Till it makes you feel alright
Till youre satisfied with your life
Till you know you live in the light
Till we get the healing done
Oh till we get the healing done
Till you look at the mountains every day
Till you wash all your troubles away
And you live right here in the day
Till we get the healing done
Oh till we get the healing done
Oh till its truth and its beauty and its grace
Till youve finally found your true place
Till you know your original face
Till we get the healing done
Oh child, till we get the healing done
Oh when everythings going right
Till youre satisfied with your life
Till youre living in the light
Till we get the healing done
Oh till we get the healing done
Oh when you feel it, when you feel it in your soul
Baby, and you really know
That you reap just what you sow
When we get the healing done
Oh till we get the healing done
Till you know that its working every time
Till you work it out in your mind
And you know it straight down the line
Till you get the healing done
Oh make no worry till we get the healing done
Oh we gonna go back, back to our favourite place
Oh look at it again
See it all through different eyes
When we get the healing done
Oh when we get the healing done
Oh were living for the grace of the lord
Baby feel so good about it all
Oh give thanks every day
Till we get the healing done
Oh till we get the healing done
Till we get the healing done
Oh baby, baby till we get the healing done
Till we get the healing done
Baby you got to stay
Till we get the healing done
If it takes to the break of day
Till we get the healing done
Till we get the healing done
Till we get the healing done
Till we get the healing done
You got to stay all night long
Till we get the healing done

There Must Be An Easier Way
To earn one's living there must be an easier way
Than working in a menial job for menial pay
You age so fast your hair prematurely gray
And you must work hard till your retirement day.
When you ask the boss for a raise his answer no
For a raise in pay you must have more to show
The unemployed are many and the jobs are few
And there's plenty more to do the job you do.
At 5.30 a m each work day from bed I rise
Before daylight has lit the morning skies
Then long drive to work in smoky old work van
Such is the lot of the common working man.
The chap next door seems better off than I
He does not work yet life he does enjoy
Whilst I'm at work he rest at home in bed
And he doesn't look deprived or underfed
With six year old son and a non working wife
He live an easy and a stress free life
And I've heard it said that he's never worked a day
But good luck to him is all that I can say.
I do not receive or seek sympathy
For there are many far worse off than me
But living life would be a lot more fun
If I did not have to rise before the sun

The Sun
Always watching, never seeing,
Never living, always being,
Sky is my domain, clouds hinder me in vain,
My friend is the rain, over mist and rainbows I reign,
I give the earth life and make plants grow,
I run and hide every day you know,
Without my shine your days are numbered,
Thinking you can survive alone would be a blunder,
I may not be God or a deity but that's how some see me,
What would you do if you had to be me,
Would you keep watching as people ruin my Earth,
This planet thrived until these people's birth,
You could scorch them and burn them or kill them,
I choose to keep sending my warm rays upon them,
It's up to the people to do what's right,
Until then I'll always shine my light.

You Have Not Yet Learned to Survive
You have not yet learned to survive.
I've heard you make excuses for it.
As you sit in the comfort of your parents' home.
Who provide amenities,
You use and they condone.
You have not yet learned to survive.
I listen to you pass your judgements,
On my appearance and how I dress.
And how I live alone,
Without complaints of being stressed.
And every bill I pay...
I do that on my own.
And that stress factor?
I have no reason to make that known.
You have not yet learned to survive.
You say you raise children?
Who are more with your folks than they are with you.
I have yet to see you do that by yourself.
Without complaining you have no social life left.
And you say your folks are always in your business.
If you stayed away and took care of it,
No one but you would know what that business is.
But you like to announce you have no life and two kids!
And then you tell me,
I don't know what life is about?
I don't know what it is to sacrifice?
Since I have it made living alone,
With no creditors ringing my phone!
And I am always at home I never go out!
Where 'is' your mind?
At Six Flags?
Or DisneyWorld?
Which one is it?
You have not yet learned to survive.
Not if you are relying on others,
To keep your lifestyle alive!
And I know you want to keep your 'lifestyle' alive!
Along with your siblings!
Who bring 'their' children...
For stops at mom and pop's.
To leave and come back when they please!

Death Is Knocking
Just Focus.
Stop And Think.
Your On The Brink With No Way Out.
Its Do Or Die Time.
Can You Survive.
Will You Survive.
I Can See It In You Eyes.
Your Soul Is Fading.
Drifting On To Next.
Such An Moment Of Mourning. Your Going Going Gone.
Just Focus.
Stop And Think.
Your On The Brink With No Way Out.
Only One Thing Comes To Mind Doubt And More Festering Doubt.
Like An Infection It Spreads Through The Skin.
Slowly Turning Your Complexion To An Ominous Pale Gray.
Can You Survive.
Will You Survive.
Does It Mean You Still Live With All The Senses And Emotions Still Attached.
Body And Mind In Sync
Just In Time.
I Think You'll Be Just Fine.
Just Focus.
Stop And Think.
Your On The Brink With No Way Out.
The Vision Is Just To Horrifying To Even Think About.
There Is No Dark Cloud.
It Will Not Rain On Me.
Hope Till The Bitter End. Don't Surrender.
Can You Survive.
Will You Survive.
Sadness In The Skies.
Wishing Upon Another Sunrise.
A Fairy Tale Gone So Wrong.
Its My Worse Nightmare Coming True For You.
What Can You Do?
Just Focus.
Stop And Think.
Your On The Brink With No Way Out.
I'm Just So Sorry.
But It Just Doesn't Cut It.
No Words Can Explain It.
Its The Light In The Dark.
Soon It Will Be Gone.
Still You Go On As If Nothing Wrong.
As If You Already Know Where Your Going,
And Just Maybe You Do.
But I Don't And It Scares Me.
I Want To Be Brave For You.
But In The End Its Not Up To Me Or You.
Can You Survive,
Will You Survive.
Please Let It Be Quick.
And Let Pain Be Gentle.
Cause I Just Wont Be Take It.
To Much To Bare For My Soul.
I Burn Inside And It Just Wont Go Away.
It Just So Hard Even Still To Describe That Day. One Day I Will Be With You Again
And It Will All Be Okay.

Make It Shine
written by Marv Ross
There's a miracle waiting, there's a ticket worth taking
There's a reason to believe your eyes
An ounce of conviction is the only admission
Yeah, it's risky, but it's worth the ride
And all the dreams that you've held inside
Yes, they're waiting to break out, you just have to try
Make it shine, let your heart beat right in time
Make it shine, lay your whole world on the line
Find a clue and unfold it, shake the dust off and hold it
If it tells you something let me know
So much is forgotten, so much worth unlocking
Won't you tell me how to break the code
And never worry 'bout the things you read
It's so easy to tear down, so hard to believe
Too may dreamers are fading, shine on, shine on, shine
Live -there's a life to live
Give -there's a gift to give
Yes -there's a reason to make it
Shine on and make it true,
Work -make it work for you
Yes -there's a reason to make it shine
Find a secret and learn it, find a key there and turn it
Do whatever you do through the night
A skill in your fingers like a memory lingers
You gotta do it till it comes out right
You never know till you take a chance
If you're out on that wire you might as well dance

Everything Is Kiling Me....
As soon as you're born they make you feel small
By giving you no time instead of it all
Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
They hurt you at home and they hit you at school
They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool
Till you're so fucking crazy you can't follow their rules
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
When they've tortured and scared you for twenty odd years
Then they expect you to pick a career
When you can't really function you're so full of fear
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV
And you think you're so clever and classless and free
But you're still fucking peasants as far as I can see
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
There's room at the top they are telling you still
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill
If you want to be like the folks on the hill
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
If you want to be a hero well just follow me
If you want to be a hero well just follow me

The Living People
Wake up in the morning
Working all long day
Exhausted in the night
Going on routine everyday
Hey, that’s not the point of living
Try to earn money every month
Please everybody with fake smile
Fighting like hungry animal
Fix the problem that keeps coming
It’s just the way to survive the living
Dream out even the impossible
Do what you really desire
Learning things old and new
Make yourself happy and alive
Now here find the reason of your living

Working Class Hero
As soon as you're born they make you feel small,

They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool,
Till you're so f***ing crazy you can't follow their rules.

When they've tortured and scared you for twenty odd years,
Then they expect you to pick a career,
When you can't really function you're so full of fear.

Survival
Ill survive you, I will survive you
Well, its too late, I know, to change the way we go
From this day on I want to stay on
Now that Ive started learning
And the tides started turning
Well, its here I want to stay
Ill let the moon announce my arrival
To every eye that cares to see
Just working on the art of survival
Where do we go from here, where do we go from here
Im alive here, I can survive dear
Though the weather might change
From the wind to the rain
Well, my heart remains the same
Ill let the moon announce my arrival
To every eye that cares to see
Just working on the art of survival
Where do we go from here, where do we go from here
Looked out on a sea of trouble
And I tried to stall for awhile
Its so hard to answer every question
And its hard to protect your heart anymore
Ill let the moon announce my arrival (I am alive)
To every eye that cares to see
Just working on the art of survival (but I wonder)
Where do we go from here
Ill let the moon announce my arrival (I am alive)
To every eye that cares to see
Just working on the art of survival (but I wonder)
Where do we go from here
Ill let the moon announce my arrival (I am alive)
To every eye that cares to see
Just working on the art of survival (but I wonder)
Where do we go from here ...

Survival Shake
This is no story its the key of existence
A little thing you better not forget
I dont know nothing bout its a water-resistance
Why dont you use your head
And survive, survive, survive
You got to survive
Survive, survive, survive
You got to survive
So tell me darling what you wanna be
A welcome idiot in an appletree
I shake you up and I shake you down
Down to the ground
To survive, survive, survive
You got to survive
Survive, survive
All you got to do is to survive
You just got one life
All you got to do is to survive
You just got one life
So better be careful boy
Survive, survive, survive...

Anything
(Ronnie Scaife/Phil Thomas)
Id do anything if youd just let me hold you
I'd do anything to change your mind
Climb the highest moumain or swim the deepest ocean
Anything to make you mine
Anything, anytime
Day or night, rain or shine
There ain't nothin I wont do
To get to you
Is there anything I can say to make you love me
Is there anything I haven't tried
Well Id take you 'round the world
Just to walk you down a dirt road
Anything to make you mine
Anything, anytime
Day or night, rain or shine
There ain't nothin I wont do
To get to you
Well Id give anything if I had you forever
I'd give anything to see that time
Well Id walk upon my hands up the stairway to heaven
Anything to make you mine
Anything, anytime
Day or night, rain or shine
There ain't nothin I wont do
To get to you

I Will Be
Mmm...
The world seems so cold
When I face so much all alone
A little scared to move on
And knowing how fast I have grown
And I wonder just where I fit in
Oh the vision alive in my head
Oh yes
I will be
Strong on my own
I will see through the rain
I will find my way
I will keep on
Traveling down the road
Till I finally reach my dream
Till Im living, and Im breathing
My destiny, yeah yeah
I cant let go now
Even when darkness surrounds
But if I hold on, yeah
I will show the world
All the things that you never expected to see
From little old me, this pittsburgh girl
And I wonder just where my place is
Close my eyes and I remind myself this
Oh yeah yeah
I will be
Strong on my own
I will see through the rain
I will find my way
I will keep on
Traveling down the road
Till I finally reach my dream
Till Im living, and Im breathing
My destiny, ohh
It comforts me
Ooh it keeps me
Alive each day of my life
Always guiding me
Providing me
With the hope I desperately need
Well I gotta believe
Theres something out there meant for me
Oh I get on my knees
Praying I will receive
The courage to grow and the faith to know
That I will be
Strong on my own
I will see through the rain
I will find my way
I will keep on
Traveling down the road
Till I finally reach my dream
Till Im living, and Im breathing
My destiny
