It's funny, 'cause it seems like just yesterday that I was the youngest player just starting out. But now there are young players all over the league, and they'll ask me questions about playing overseas or finding an agent.

Can A Player Find A Soul Mate?
I asked a guy yesterday,
'Will you be a player in your golden days? '
He said, 'Once a player always a player'
I guess that is what I will be
he sounded for sure at least he
was honest with me.
I said 'Don't you want to find your Soul Mate?
He says, it doesn't matter anymore I'm having fun,
I'm still young, my dating life has just begun.
I guess if he is happy and content
maybe he will never have regrets.

His Youngest
two wives
and five children
he embraces the Koran
his education
and religion and his peers
and forefathers
crowding inside his mind
at the airport he looks at
his youngest daughter
playing with a toy
puppy
tears fall from his eyes
for yesterday
if it were not for a little delay
of the car
he would have been included in that convoy
that met the
horrible massacre
blessings in disguise
he kisses his youngest daughter
his time has not arrived yet
he has things to do yet
always now to love
and to love always more

Young David The Under Fourteen
With the local football club he plays under fourteen
In their football colours the black, brown and green
He dreams in the A F L he will star one day
Against Australia's finest he will be picked to play.
Everytime I see young David he's with the egg shaped ball
Playing by himself or with other boys in the park for his age he is tall
His dream is to play as number one ruckman for his favourite team Geelong
Enjoying a great victory as he sings the Club song.
Most boys of his age have a wish or a dream
To win a gold medal or play with a top football team
But not all dreams do come true everyone can't know fame
Still it is nice to dream of great things just the same.
He is the top ruckboy in his football team
And as a player of promise he knows local esteem
But few good juvenile players into great players grow
And young David he still has a long way to go.

I was surprised I won the award because I've always been a very aggressive player and I earn my share of fouls on the court. I play rough, and because I'm an older player, of course I use tricks on the younger players.
When I was a young player, I would look at players and think, he does this well, and try and pick up good points from them, or he conducts himself well, I'll pick up on that.

To all the positions, I just bring the determination to win. Me being an unselfish player, I think that can carry on to my teammates. When you have one of the best players on the court being unselfish, I think that transfers to the other players.

Yesterday, When I Was Mad
Yesterday (yesterday yesterday)
Yesterday (yesterday yesterday)
Yesterday (yesterday yesterday) when i was mad
Yesterday (yesterday yesterday) when i was mad
Darling, you were wonderful, you really were quite good
I enjoyed it, though, of course, no one understood
A word of what was going on, they didn't have a clue
They couldn't understand your sense of humour like i do
You're much too kind
I smiled with murder on my mind
Yesterday, when i was mad
And quite prepared to give up everything
Admitting, i don't believe
In anyone's sincerity, and that's what's really got to me
Yesterday (yesterday yesterday)
Yesterday (yesterday yesterday) when i was mad

It hurt me a great deal. It put a lot of pressure on me because I was at a young age and the writers around here and throughout the league starting comparing me to Cobb. It put a lot of pressure on me.
We draft mostly high school kids and we have one of the finest, if not the finest, player development programs and coaching staffs and we teach our players the right way to play. We also have a game plan in scouting, and there are certain types of players that we look for.
A Shared Yesterday With You
It seems like only yesterday
When we played under the sun
Swimming and skinning knees
Endless times of childhood fun
We planned for the next day
Climbing hills and tall trees
Laughing and running about
Rolling in a big pile of leaves
A Shared Yesterday With You
Those Tom boy ways I laugh
Building forts and playing ball
Riding bikes and skating away
Memory has recorded it all
Awkward times and shy ways
The scary tales we loved to tell
Oh such fun times in the day
Do you too recall them well
A Shared Yesterday With You
Times went on and so did we
Funny how time seems to fly
But time leaves us memories
And yesterday will never die
A Shared Yesterday With You

The contracts are structured different than athletes in America, but for me, it was good to move on and go back to playing in the premiere league, which is the best league. It was disappointing, as far as the team goes, but for me, there wasn't much I could do.

Player's Ball
Here's a little somethin for the players out there hustlin
Gettin down for theirs
From east pointe, college park, decatur, devries...
My man, the scene was so thick
Lowriders, seventy-seven sevilles
El do's, nuttin but them 'llacs
All the players (deporte in the house) all the hustlers
I'm talkin bout a black man heaven here
Youknowhati'msayin? yeah
*singing*
Cadillacs are comin, from everywhere (yeahhh)
Limbo boppin good cause love is in the air
To all you players and you pimps smoke out and have a ball
And if your hoe is actin crazy --
-- put her on the wall
Now now now everybody's dancin and just feelin right
I see all of you players got yourselves laid in on ice
I hope when all y'all dance is over, can i get onn, yeah
My kids'll have a story, that still be told, whoooa, about
All the players came, from far and wide
Wearin afros and braids, kickin them gangster rides
Now i'm here to tell ya, there's a better day
When the player ball is happenin, all day eryday

With You As My Starting Point
he laughs at me
finding perhaps that it is funny
that you are my
starting point
of what i asked?
a launching pad of my
rockets
a field for my crash
landing
a garden for my seeds of
flowers
a nest for my eggs
a hole for my emptiness
a window for me to see
the world out there
calling for my name

Some of the money from the senior players goes to helping out the younger kids. It is from the players' pool, the fines for being late and so on. Some will go to something like the tsunami appeal and some to helping out young players.
