It just meant a lot because it's something I've always wanted to do. I've always wanted to be a Senior National Champ. I was Junior National Champ in 2002, so now to be the senior champ is great.

The Boxer
His pressure was mounting
along with his weight.
He got into training
a little bit late.
In the grey light of morning
He'd be seen on the street.
sweating it out
on sneaker clad feet.
He sparred with his partners.
with few in the stands.
Then pummel the light bag
with lightening fast hands.
The fight date was approaching
and no one in the State
gave him much of a chance
of escaping his fate.
The champ was unbeaten.
He ground his foes down.
They'd be down, looking up
at the Champ looking down.
How then to cope
with an unbeatable foe?
This cup would not pass
even if he wished it so.
He was not getting younger,
This was his last shot.
Would he be one more challenger
that history forgot?
He was no timid soul,
avoiding the chance.
He'd go down swinging.

Just last night I got a call
It was poetry saying please come home
I replied back that I am retired and done
It said please, please come back
I miss my king
I miss my champ
I miss my poet that flows like the ocean
I said I would come back but it would take one thing
To have this poem published and live my richest dreams

No Price: Prize Fighter
He once bellowed I am the greatest from the ring.
In a musical titled “Buck White” he did sing.
And as much as he loved being boxing heavy weight champ and adored by all.
For no price would this prize fighter take a fall.
They wanted him to renounce his religion and pick up a gun.
But our champion said no to the war in Vietnam.
Now, although they stripped him of his title and all his funds;
He still stood tall and said I got no problem with any Viet-con.
All he had to do was to say yes to fighting exhibition matches for war;
And his problem would no more.
But there was no price for this great prize fighter.
For standing up for his beliefs and willing to give up all he had at that time Muhammad Ali will always be “The Greatest” to me.

So in my sophomore year, I took a senior anatomy class. I thought anatomy - being the thing that I should be most interested in - and if I could hack, as we called it, a senior class, I would continue. I didn't hack the senior class.
