Nothing earthly will make me give up my work in despair.

But Don't Despair
Despair, if you must –
But how's it going to pull you through?
Despair, when you trust
Naught since then there's naught to do.
Despair, should you thrust
Aside your pride, your self-esteem.
And so despair, if it's dust,
The only substance that you deem.
Despair, when a gust
Of slightly breeze can break your stance.
And do despair, when lust
Is your interpretation of romance.
But don't despair, if you can care
About the plight of any other being.
And you can focus on the help,
Support, and altruistic further actions
For the seeing. Be believing,
As despair will start receding
All around – simply since you found
A way to steer you clear
From this: the very cause of your despair!
So give to others; give them all a helping lift:
Despair, you'll find will disappear –
And that has got to be a well-deserved
And saintly gift!

Despair Of The Early Morning
DESPAIR OF THE EARLY MORNING
Despair of the early morning
Despair of the darkness
Despair of the Despair
Despair of Old Age
Despair of the road closed
Despair of nothing to do
Despair of nowhere to go
Despair of endless errands
Despair of money running out
Despair of the message of Despair
One transmits to those one loves.
Despair that has to be resisted
Despair that the light of the day
Will help me overcome
Despair I will pray my way out of
Despair I will in the course of the day
Sometime overcome.
Not the great Despair
The unending Despair
The final Despair.
The small Despair of who I am and where I am now.
The Despair that still can be resisted,
By the writing of a few awkward lines
Early in the morning.

Work To Make It Work
(r palmer)
Push it along
Work work work to make it work
Push it along
Work work work to make it work
Push it along
Work work work if you want to improve it
Push it along
It's all there for you to feel it
Help your self to one that you can't deal with
Ain't no way that you could steal it
You misunderstand if you get greedy
Ah push
Work work work to make it work push it along
Work work work to make it work
Push it along
Work work work to make it work
Push it along
Work work work if you want to improve
Don't confine your dreams to bed
You'll get scared if you get lazy
If you can't take enough to satisfy yourself
Then you'll go crazy
Wont do no good thinking
You got to do it
So it don't come easy the first time
Practice makes perfect, you know that i'll try hard
Use it or lose it
You got to put your heart and soul into it
Yeaheheh
Push it along
Work work work to make it work
Push it along
Work work work if you want to move it
Push it along
Work to make it work
Push it along
Work work work if you want to improve
It's all there for you to feel it
Help your self to one that you can't deal with
Ain't no way that you could steal it
You misunderstand if you get greedy forget wishful thinking
You can do it
You just need a push to make a start
If you don't succeed the first time
Try and try again
Use it or lose it
You got to put your back into it
Work work work to make it work
Push it along
Work work work if you want to move it
Push it along
Work work work to make it work
Push it along
Work work work if you want to improve
Work work work to make it work

Despair Is Darkness
DESPAIR IS DARKNESS
Despair is darkness-
Despair is death inside and death in the world and death in one’s own sad soul-
Despair is no way out -
Despair is the place where one is forever stuck -
Despair is the realization that one has done what one could – and one is not going anywhere else-
Despair is the admission of failure-
Despair is no sign of help anywhere around-
Despair is so much lost-
Despair is one‘s life is over-
Despair is regret-
Despair is the sense that one will never have the time to have another chance -
Despair is ‘it’s finished’-
Despair is no way out-
Despair is going down and more down and more dark and more afraid all the time -
Despair is the scream which hurts and does not stop the hurting -
Despair is the understanding that even Death will not save one -
Despair is that the pain will never end-not even with death.
Despair is no way out again and again and again- without end.

Another Sunny Day 12/25
We see it on tv we get calls on the phone
By the prophets of doom they wont leave us alone
The planet is dying and theres no time to spare
They spend all our days sowing seeds of despair
We get enough bad news to harden our hearts
This fear what we feed on is whats keeping us apart
To say that we doomed is just an obvious remark
And it dont make you right it just keep you in the dark
I dont want to live angry
I dont want to live scared
I dont need no more prophets crying
Brother beware
Just put some work in my hand
And give me a dollar to spare
And dont let me sow those seeds of despair
Well this earth is a graveyard it will swallow our bones
It was here long before us it will be here when were gone
And its a vain generation that looks for a sign
Dont you think we could make better use of our time
Yeah, the air could be cleaner and the water could be too
But what we do to each other are the worst things that we do
And we can treasure our freedoms behind our locked doors
But God speed the day when were lonely no more
I dont want to live angry
I dont want to live scared
I dont need no more prophets crying
Brother beware
Just put some work in my hand
And give me a dollar to spare
And dont let me sow those seeds of despair

All I Have
I m anxious and distraught for the last few days
Now theres nothing of the sort that makes it all right
This moment I am compelled to go off the deep end
I clutch at every straw , my heart is sinking
I give it one more try, I give it all I can
I never wanted more, I give it one more shot
I give it all I have to make things right
What scope is there left? where is the hope then?
Ive heard it all before when life is measured
A slow and tame despair is inside all of us
Your passionate old dreams sometimes you cry for
I give it one more try, I give it all I can
I never wanted more, I give it all I have
I give it one more shot to make things right
Little else we can cherish, little else is not enough
A glimpse, a glimpse of heaven
How can I see the stars?
As all others do, as all others do
As all others do , as all others do
I give it one more try, I give it all I can
I wont fail once more
Take the bull by the horns
Try my luck once more
To make things right
Again

Sonnet: Wish You a Happy Journey, Friend
Relax doctor, relax; just go abroad!
Forget your work-spot files and problems here;
Why to despair when you believe in God?
Present your paper without any fear.
Maybe, this trip could soothen your mind too;
Perhaps, it is a blessing in disguise;
Despair should not ever overcome you;
Too much of guilt is also most unwise.
Whatever had happened- is a thing of past;
Perhaps, God wants you to be much better;
Forget your sadness and be cheerful fast;
Let not despair become your mind’s fetter.
But never give up your good things in life,
And pray to God whenever you’re in strife.

Without You
Hey you, wake up, get yourself together
Yeah you, so you think you made it better
cause you know its coming at you
While your back is turned
Look too long and I cant help you
So clear your head, find a way home
Better make up your mind
First you say that you will
Then you say you wont
Well Im just trying to figure
Try and figure you out
How long can this go on
Tell me what is wrong
And maybe theres a way
That we can work it out
There must be some kind of way
That we can make it right
But i, I just cant do it all
Without you, without you
Hey fool, wise up, better late than never
Yeah you, you know that nothing lasts forever
Nobody ever told you that your
Time is running out
Too bad and I cant help you
How long can this go on
Tell me what is wrong
And maybe theres a way
That we can work it out
There must be some kind of way
That we can make it right
But i, I just cant do it all
Without you, without you
The point Im trying to make
You got to give more than you take
You gotta give, give more than you take
Gotta, gotta, gotta work it out

Someone...
Someone, somewhere,
is feeling my despair.
Yet no residue, no trace is found,
of this person, ever understanding.
Words kind, eyes full of love and caring
Nobody knows the despair inside of me!
Oh, but you understand it,
you know my sadness, you've been through it all.
You're always willing to help me,
pick me up when I fall.
Now let me help you,
through all your hard times.
Let me pick you up from your despair,
and give you the happiness we once shared.
I'm not lying to you, you know its true,
that I'll give all I have for you

Work, Sleep, Work, Sleep, Work
Work, sleep, work, sleep,
Work, sleep, work, sleep,
Work, sleep, work, sleep,
Work:
Work, sleep, work, sleep,
Work, sleep, work, sleep,
Work, sleep, work, sleep,
Work.
Oh free me please with gentle ease
From work, sleep, work, sleep, work!
This odium, pounding tedium
Of my work, sleep, work, sleep, work.
Just whisk me off to lands afar
From work, sleep, work, sleep, work -
That grinding train of rhythmic pain
Called ‘Work, sleep, work, sleep, work.’
Poor neural circuits fizzle and pop
In work, sleep, work, sleep, work,
In trying to make some sense of all this
Work, sleep, work, sleep, work.
But Hark! I see a golden gleam -
A saving spirit of hope:
‘You’re fired! ’ He screams. What news to bear,
This wondrous hangman’s rope!
So now I’m free, released from all this
Work, sleep, work, sleep, work -
Eternal peace and rest for me, no
Work, sleep, work, sleep, work.

Navigator
The canals and the bridges, the embankments and cuts,
They blasted and dug with their sweat and their guts
They never drank water but whiskey by pints
And the shanty towns rang with their songs and their fights.
Navigator, navigator rise up and be strong
The morning is here and theres work to be done.
Take your pick and your shovel and the bold dynamite
For to shift a few tons of this earthly delight
Yes to shift a few tons of this earthly delight.
They died in their hundreds with no sign to mark where
Save the brass in the pocket of the entrepreneur.
By landslide and rockblast they got buried so deep
That in death if not life theyll have peace while they sleep.
Navigator, navigator rise up and be strong
The morning is here and theres work to be done.
Take your pick and your shovel and the bold dynamite
For to shift a few tons of this earthly delight
Yes to shift a few tons of this earthly delight.
Their mark on this land is still seen and still laid
The way for a commerce where vast fortunes were made
The supply of an empire where the sun never set
Which is now deep in darkness, but the railways there yet.
Navigator, navigator rise up and be strong
The morning is here and theres work to be done.
Take your pick and your shovel and the bold dynamite
For to shift a few tons of this earthly delight
Yes to shift a few tons of this earthly delight.

Maybe You Should Seek His Face
He walks with me, The Lord above, and guides me with Grace and Love,
He walks with me every day and helps me through trials along the way.
He guides me with a loving hand helping with what I don't understand.
He helps each and every hour by filling me with His Grace and Power.
My world has been a different place ever since I sought His face.
My empty heart of grief and pain has been filled with Eternal Gain.
No need to seek earthly fame, as I have an inheritance in His Name.
I need no abode on shifting sand, as I have a room built by His hand.
Earthly ties I can sever, as Christ's relationship will last forever.
People come and people go, but He is one through eternity I'll know.
Earthly gain will be left behind, but Godly gain is eternally mine.
With earthly eyes I can not see what He's eternally prepared for me.
Life on earth can be a lonely place; maybe you should seek His face.
No matter what your present strife, Christ can give you a new life.
Your trials may never cease, but Christ will give you an inner peace.
And when this earthly life does end you'll have an eternity to spend.
Everything has been done by Him; He's even forgiven all of your sin.
Believe in His work on the cross and you won't suffer Eternal loss.
Your life will end on earth for sure; even now Christ is at the door.
But if you don't believe The Lord, you'll be in darkness forevermore.

Despair, i know you do not like the word
I know you do not like the word
Its color its scent, how we relate it to something black
And smoky and ghastly and ghostly
Some say, red is the color of despair
Others say it is like black coffee because
It does not make you sleep
And make you curl the whole day in
Your dark room without wanting
To talk to somebody and just be there
Alone by yourself, pondering, almost crazy
Not yet anyway, so you go on a compromise
Grey is the color of despair
Dusk, or dawn, or something dawning yet
Like an idea of a suicide unhatched
Delayed like an egg still undecided whether
To hatch or not to hatch and face the world
Of chickens
Despair, what is so big about despair
No big deal, it comes to you whether
You like it or not
As a matter of necessity, face it and state
Its name and stare and say, I muster this
Despair, I am its master and not its slave
And then, when you know all its particulars
You know what to do
Kill it and if it is not killed yet
Well
Well, well, just learn to live with it
Sleep and with, make love with it
And well,
Have kids with despair and call them
Their names: the usual, the normal and
The everyday. And just be prolific.

Don't Make Me Go
Don't...
Make me go.
Don't make me,
Disbelieve.
Don't...
Make me go.
Don't make me,
Disbelieve.
Let's make this work.
We can.
Let's make this work.
We can.
And...
Don't make me go.
Don't make me,
Disbelieve.
Don't make me go.
Don't ever...
Disbelieve.
Let's make this work.
We can.
Let's make this work.
We can.
And...we can!
Don't make me go.
Don't...
Make me,
Disbelieve.
Don't make me go.
Don't...
Let them win,
With deceit!
Let's make this work.
We can.
Let's make this work.
We can.
And we can now!
What did you hear?
Who did you hear it from?
What did they say?
I've been the faithful one.
Did you doubt me?
Please don't doubt...
What you see!
Don't be blinded,
By those misdeeds.
Don't...
Make me go.
Don't make me,
Disbelieve.
I wish you knew me...
Like you should!
Please come and let's be...
Like we could,
Drop what's misunderstood!
And...
Let's make this work.
We can.
Let's make this work.
We can.
And...we can!
What did you hear?
Who did you hear it from?
What did they say?
I've been the faithful one.
Did you doubt me?
Without 'us' there's no 'we' to be!
Don't...
Make me go.
Don't make me,
Disbelieve.
Don't...
Make me go.
Don't make me,
Disbelieve.
Please believe,
In our love!

Find something to rhyme with despair
I put my finger on here
And dropped my head down there
Found something to rhyme with despair
I've given fear to fear baby
Tried to the best of hearts
Tip toed sneaked in for a single beat
I’ve given love to love baby
Signed the best of contracts
Bin counted off at the top of the pen
So I guess I have no more to give
And there’s nothing I can lift from the floor
Except a silver flapper dress at dancing
The only thing I can still make up
Are mirror glanced those eyes of mine
That still have shades to themselves
And lashes for a verse
For those appointed to tell lice from dandruff
And say a poem’ll be cursed
The Irishman said both of these were hard work
Put my finger on here
And dropp my head down there
Find something to rhyme with despair

My Mistakes
[Chorus]
If I could erase, everyone of my mistakes
Tell me would it make you wanna come over
And work this out with me
And now I'll do whatever it takes
Just meet me halfway
All I want is for you to come over
And work this out, work this out with me
[Verse 1]
Whats wrong with me
Why can't I do right
You promise me
You give me a life
If I could be
Well then just a typical
Guy to lie to your face
How could I do
The things that I say I wouldn't do
Keep doing the same
I give you
Might just too pitiful
To recognize your worth
Now you tell me that before
Promise that I wouldn't go there no more
You gave me all of you
But what did I go do
And everytime I had the chance
To get into another nigga woman's pants
I would follow through
Not thinking of me and you
[Chorus]
If I could erase, everyone of my mistakes
Tell me would it make you wanna come over
And work this out with me
And now I'll do whatever it takes
Just meet me halfway
All I want is for you to come over
And work this out, work this out with me
[Verse 2]
As bad as I
Want you right here
I empathize with the way that you feel
Took away the thing
That you call your cute
If you could find the feeling you have from the start
You know we should never be apart
I'm asking you can you please listen to me
When you took me back before
I promise that I wouldn't go there no more
You gave me all of you
But what did I go do
And everytime I had the chance
To get into another nigga woman's pants
I would follow through
Without thinking of me and you
[2x Chorus]
If I could erase, everyone of my mistakes
Tell me would it make you wanna come over
And work this out with me
And now I'll do whatever it takes
Just meet me halfway
All I want is for you to come over
And work this out, work this out with me
[Bridge]
When they want you
come over and talk to me
I know I don't deserve to be a part
Of anyone tryna give me the heart
They loving me
Baby please
Come on over and talk to me
I see you like you've never seen him before
Cuz you're the only one to show me the love
[Repeat Chorus]
If I could erase, everyone of my mistakes
Tell me would it make you wanna come over
And work this out with me
And now I'll do whatever it takes
Just meet me halfway
All I want is for you to come over
And work this out, work this out with me

Out Of Work
8 a.m. Im up and my feet beating on the sidewalk
Down at the unemployment agency, all I get is talk
I check the want ads but there just aint nobody hiring
Whats a man supposed to do when hes down and hes
Out of work
I need a job, Im out of work
Im unemployed, Im out of work
I need a job, Im out of work
I go to pick my girl up
Her name is linda brown
Her dad invites me in
He tells me to sit down
The small talk that were making
Is going pretty smooth
But then he drops a bomb
Son, what dya do ?
Im out of work
I need a job, Im out of work
Im unemployed, Im out of work
I need a job, Im out of work
Hey mr president I know you got your plans
Youre doing all you can now to aid the little man
We got to do our best to whip that inflation down
Maybe you got a job for me just driving you around
Im out of work
These hard times, theyre enough
To make a man lose his mind
Im out of work
Up there you got a job but down here below
Im out of work
I need a job, Im out of work
Im unemployed, Im out of work
I need a job, Im out of work
Im out of work
Im out of work
Im out of work
Im out of work
Im out of work
Im out of work
Im out of work

100 days as Medical College Dean (A)
A hundred days have gone off
With me as Dean – I laugh;
I love my every staff
My anger, I now quaff!
The work is tough and dreary;
But I am never weary;
And I can never hurry;
My life has become starry!
I don’t know where to I head;
I’m happy mostly instead;
But it was all from my God
This seems a blessing / rod.
I have no other go
Than labor for friend and foe;
The work is lovely, oh!
Unlike one with a hoe.
Taking charge as Dean,
Busy, I have been;
Work of God’s Hand unseen;
My life has turned serene!
October 13th day,
2008, I say;
I heard the news that may
Change my earthly way.
I’d prayed a lot to Al-
Mighty give me the new call;
My duty is to all;
No more will I ev’r fall!
Befitting was I, I asked?
To God I prayed and prayed;
But fit, God me had made
With glory not to fade!
But in case, I was not,
To make me fit, God ought.
This was my only thought;
As God I fully sought!
