What we call 'evil' doesn't necessarily deserve any kind of respect or understanding, by any means; it just deserves an acknowledgement of its complexity so we can better understand it - so we can help prevent it.

Candle Lit Dinner (What She Deserves)

She doesn’t deserve just any poem
Not some mindlessly scrambled words
Flipped and fried
The a golden crisp with a sweet aroma

She doesn’t deserve just any frugal piece
Not just any metaphor or simile
Crushed, pressed and distilled
Into just any sweet nectar

She doesn’t deserve just any arms
Weak and fragile
Cracked and rotted
Put into an uneven shape

She doesn’t deserve just any care
Not some generic store bought
Untimely and haphazard care
Molded into a half made candle

She deserves it all
The most delicate entrée
The elegantly crafted wine
Served on the finest china on a mahogany table

She deserves happyness
Not mediocrity
So on this candle lit dinner
I will prove my feelings for her

Respect Poem

_________________________________________
Resp ect your elders all if they deserve;
Respect your servants who will serve;
Respect your father for tilling the soil;
Respect your mother for her love and toil.

Respect all teachers who gave you the knowledge;
respect your parent who will pay for your collage
respect your friend who saved you from the ledge
respect yourself from not going to the edge.

they are so many things we tend to say
giving respect does not come everyday
don't reject, don't regret just correct
but don't forget to bloody respect.

respect it something i like
doesn't matter if your wrong or right
doesn't matter if you black or white
doesn't matter if your rich or poor
doesn't matter what the hell you own
doesn't matter what way were you born.

A Question of Philosophy

When evil strikes
In fire and flood
Or untimely death by dread disease
We sometimes wonder “What of God? ”

The ancient Greeks
Long before us
On this very same question reflected.
Wise Epicurus put it thus:

“If God is willing but not able
Such evil to prevent,
Call Him ‘God’ still, if you will,
He cannot be omnipotent.”

“And if He’s able but not willing
Such evil to prevent,
God He may be, but I say
He is malevolent.”

“If God is able and willing, too,
All evil to prevent,
Why in the world should pain and death
Afflict the young and innocent? ”

What about me

My sister gets all the love
And support she needs
She has always been first
In your mind and heart

But what about me

My brother gets anything
He wants even when he
Doesn't deserve it at all
Because he's the baby

But what about me

I'm the one you can
Count on to watch the
Animals or the kid when
You go somewhere

But what about me

I'm the one that is the
Last person to know
What's going on and
The last one you consider

But what about me

What If I want to go
With you when you go
What if I want to do
The same things with you

But what about me

Why don't I get the same
Kind of love and support
That they get, aren't I
Just as important

But what about me

Don't I deserve the same
Consideration as them
Don't I deserve the same
Kind of love and support

But what about me

Am I not your daughter
Don't I deserve the same
As your other daughter
Or your son

But what about me

If I try to tell you how
I feel you get angry and
Upset that I feel this way
Why can't you understand

But what about me

I can't understand why
My feelings make you
Angry and why I am the
One that always gets left behind

But what about me

Why don't you take me
With you or plan things
So that I can go with you
Or be more involved in your life

But what about me

It's like you don't know me
Or even care to know me
So I guess I'll just leave
You three alone

But what about me

Don't call me if you want
Someone to watch the animals
Or the kid until you include me
Because I want to be included

But what about me

I am no longer the watcher
I guess I will make it by myself
Until I feel I am accepted by the
Family I was born into

But what about me

Until then, I stand alone

Wisdom

Wisdom is the building blocks of Truth.
And it is the best charity.

Knowing and understanding are different awareness.
Understanding is superior to knowing;
One who understands knows as well
But one who knows doesn’t necessarily understand!

To understand is to know something in detail.
It involves input of information and their processing in brain
In other words it involves thinking.
Whereas knowing
Is the result of some input of information in the brain.
Knowing is an outcome of observation or feeling
But understanding is an outcome of thought.

Anniversary 2

Understanding comes in waves and whether waves come
too breathlessly fast or dawdle conscionably
out of the future or the past,
it doesn't matter, everything adding up and cancelling out.
From the golden fields of youth and Need
through the inexplicable let-downs of passing time,
evolve differently, often,
than the ways we expect them to.
Purity is all.

Mother, beauty
worthy to be sculpted by Pisano,
you thought you had a hotline to God;
in fact, you did,
via the cable of infinite trust.
Many imagine righteousness a bulwark against evil.
It isn't always. Still others say you get what you deserve.

Deserve? Ditch that awful habit
of saying what others deserve:
desert the moity of a harsher ethic
incomprehensible to the catholic mind.
In the end, who doesn't deserve salvation?
Faust, stepped out of glibness, held his tongue.
Nobody knows anything-you're a fool if you say you do.
There's remedy and reason for each transgression.
Mother, you did not deserve this.

Sonnet: Respect

Respect your elders all if they deserve;
Respect your servants too who you well serve;
Respect your father for tilling the soil;
Respect your mother for her love and toil.

Respect all teachers who gave you knowledge;
Respect your friend who saved you from the ledge;
Respect all good minds who advised you good;
Respect the man of God who gave soul’s food.

Respect all strangers who were all Godsends;
Respect your foes who taught you self-defense;
Respect those evil men who you troubled;
Respect the tempter who well you misled.

Respect your conscience which tells you what’s right;
Respect your God who is your Friend and Guide.

Respect for My Foes

Why should I show respect for a man that shows me none?
Why should I follow your codes when they have no meaning to me?
Respect after all is something we must earn,
And as far as my eyes can see you deserve nothing.

It may be law that I should respect you,
But I shall break law if it means that I am free
Because who likes shackels; they after all are made from man kind.
No man shall hold me for I am as free as a bird.

I shall dropp dead flat on my face
Before I ever put you in a palace
Before I give you the respect you think you have earned.

The highest you will ever go is the social status of a goat.
But we slaughter them.
I hope your happy being king of the goats

They say respect your foes as you do yourself.
So today I shall pretend to be the dirt under my shoes.
And I shall treat you the exact same way.
Respect is somethning we must earn, have you earned it.
I Think Not!

There's No 'I' In Team

Well I can't regret,
can't you just forget it?
I started something I couldn't finish
And if we go down,
we go down together
best friends means,
well best friends means
And I've got a twenty-dollar bill
that says you're up late night starting
fist fights versus fences in your backyard
Wearing your black eye like a badge of honor
Soaking in sympathy
from friends who never loved you
nearly half as much as me
Broken down in bars and bathrooms
All I did was what I had to
Don't believe me when I tell you
it's just what anyone would do
Take the time to talk about it
Think a lot and live without it
Don't believe me when I tell you
it's something unforgivable...ohoh
Well I can't regret,
can't you just forget it?
I started something I couldn't finish
If we go down,
we go down together
best friends means,
well best friends means
You never knew
well i never told you...
Everything I know about breaking hearts
I learned from you, it's true
I've never done it with the style and grace you have
But I've made long term plans
based on these mistakes
Broken down in bars and bathrooms
All I did was what I had to
Don't believe me when I tell you
it's just what anyone would do
Take the time to talk about it
Think a lot and live without it
Don't believe me when I tell you
it's something unforgivable
Is this what you call tact?
I swear you're as subtle as a brick in the small of my back
so let's end this call,
and end this conversation
there's nothing worse...
(that's right he said, that's right he said it)
I swear, you have no idea
The jealousy that became me thinking
(that's right he said)
that you always had it way too easy
Broken down in bars and bathrooms
All I did was what I had to
Don't believe me when I tell you
it's just what anyone would do
Take the time to talk about it
Think a lot and live without it
Don't believe me when I tell you
it's something unforgivable
Best friends means I pulled the trigger
Best friends means you get what you deserve
Best friends means I pulled the trigger
Best friends means you get what you deserve
Best friends means I pulled the trigger
Best friends means you get what you deserve
Best friends means I pulled the trigger
Best friends means you get what you deserve
Best friends means I pulled the trigger
Best friends means you get what you deserve
Best friends means I pulled the trigger!!!
Best friends means you get what you deserve!!!

No Respect

Respect,
Always everybody looking for some
Respect,
Who do you think youre gonna get it from
Respect,
Anybody here deserving of none
Respect,
Tell me what makes you think
Youre not the one
No respect, no respect none
No respect, no respect none
No respect, no respect none
No respect, no respect none
Respect,
Why be concerned with
Public adulation
Respect,
Pat on the back crying
For attention
Respect,
Finding out what it really
Means to me
Respect,
Honor comes only after
Humility

Quiet Please, There's A Lady On Stage

(carole bayer-sager & peter allen)
Quiet please, there's a lady on stage
She may not be the latest rage
But she's singing and she means it
And she deserves a little silence
Quiet please, there's a woman up there
And she's been honest through her songs
Long before your consciousness was raised
Doesn't that deserve a little praise
So put your hands together and help her along
All that's left of the singer's
All that's left of the song
Stand for the ovation
And give her one last celebration
Quiet please, there's a person up there
And she's been singing of the things
That none of us could bear to hear for ourselves
Give her your respect if nothing else
Quiet please, there's a lady on stage
Conductor, turn the final page
And when it's over we can all go home
But she lives on -- on the stage alone.

Respect That Other Person

Respect that other person he doesn't disrespect you
He search for the path to success the hard road he's been through
You may feel his best not good enough but at least he's game to try
There's more to life far more to life than me, myself and I.

Don't begrudge that other person some respect to him show
He may not be a great success but at least he has a go
Before the child takes his first steps he has to learn to crawl
And on the uphill climb through life one can expect to fall.

Respect that other person he's a good sort of man
To make a success of his life he does the best he can
He works hard for his children and he's faithful to his wife
And he deserve some credit for making the most of life

Respect that other person for some respect he is due
For if you do not respect others, others will not respect you
He works hard for his family and he doesn't draw easy pay
And he is one who lives life in the good and honest way.

Mistuh Pahtillah

The name doesn't describe a gorilla.
Or startle with facts,
Like an action drama that is also a thriller.
I can get quite silly when pronoucing my name...
Since those I'm related to
Pronounce my last name,
Like they think they should
And some do as a game!

Pahtalier, Pahtilla, Pahtalah, Purtiller.
Puerteller, Pertillar, Partiller, Pertillaaah.
And giving me what they think I need...
Either long stares or a quick flash of a nod!
To confirm approval or something else odd!
It is so comfortable to be
In a peace of mind that lets things be!
When someone stops to ask,
'Where the hell you get that name from? '
I will gather my dignity then respond...
With my heritage light on!

I am not my name!
The one I was labelled with!
Nor am I a game.
I wont be annoyed intentionally.
Not for the shame of it to this degree!

You can call me and suggest
How best I can put my right foot forward!
Followed by my left!
But the name that you call...
Has to suit to protect our peaceful walls!
That's all!

I'm not looking through you...
As you look as if you can throw me away!
You have strayed away from getting too tender.
Your ancestors made me and those like me,
The one you once abused worse than any enemy!
And forgiveness has made a few of us friends...
Again!
But then again...
I am not my name!
The one I was labelled with!
Nor am I a game.
I wont be annoyed intentionally.
Nor make further wishes
That you should look deeper
Into me and 'see'! ...Me!

Call me what you wish!
But if you think I deserve more respect!
The kind you believe I don't often get.
'Mister Pahtillah' will do fine!
That will put you on my good side...
And we will be in the same frame of mind.
'Mistuh Pahtillah' will do fine!

And someone with a thought or two,
Will begin to think they know me...
And/or you too!
'He think he is Fabulous and Phat!
He thinks he can do anything...
And be All That!
He thinks he could become
A very wealthy man!
Skipping far ahead of the red sign
Dipping his mind on 'trappings' for this 'cat'!
Black and hospitable!

He has known he knew himself inside.
He doesn't need to be labelized.
What he knows is what he does...
And he does it to do it well!
And for me that name means family.
Some may someday 'get it'
And get with it! Or forget it.

Others never cared.
And that should be obvious...
To those aware!
Much of what we have...
Did not come from 'over there! '
Is there something being done,
About what it is that get's in your hair?

I am not my name!
The one I was labelled with!
Nor am I a game.
I wont be annoyed intentionally.
Not for the shame of it to this degree!

'Is this microphone turned off? '
I'm getting scannings and stares.
Nothing is showing in these eyes...
And nothing said is being recognized!
I can't even tell if any of them are aware
I am up here and in their faces.
And few of them make eye contact.
Although attracted they are...
But not to me!
'Is this microphone on? '

I am not my name!
How do I get them...
Inside of me,
To touch?
How is that broken down?
Let's take off our masks,
And throw them onto the ground!

Perhaps with that task...
We will see reflected,
A familiarity accepted!
Something once rejected...
Is now being suspected
That it should be inspected closer.

Call me what you wish!
But if you think I deserve more respect!
The kind you believe I don't often get.
'Mister Pahtillah' will do fine!
That will put you on my good side...
And we will be in the same frame of mind.
'Mister Pahtillah' will do just fine!

I am not my name!
Nor am I a game...
To play losing whims!
With those who can't decide...
Whether to be a Fee Fi or a Foe!

And someone shouts out,
Holding up their right hand...
I have three.
I have four.
And also five.
And he runs closer
'Mistuh Pahtillah...
I played three fo's last night!
That needs to come out! '

They call me Mistuh Pahtillah!
Mistuh Pahtillah.
They call me Mistuh Pahtillah!
I am not my name but they call me,
Mistuh Pahtillah...Mistuh Pahtilluh.
Mistuh Pahtilluh.
I am not my name but they call me...

When Death Comes It Doesn't Necessarily Say 'Hello

WHEN DEATH COMES IT DOESN’T NECESSARILY SAY ‘HELLO’

When Death comes it doesn’t necessarily say ‘hello’
Without a word it can finish you off completely-
In an instant suddenly when you are on your way to
Something else entirely
It gets you for good.

Death is not really very considerate-
It doesn’t care know how
And when it gets you
It gets you for good.

R.e.s.p.e.c.t

It's hard to tell them when what's true,
'Cause deep inside you know they’ll judge you,
Put you down and even condemn you,
They perfectly don't know what you feel,
But still, they don't want to understand what’s real,
'Cause for them you're just the dirt in their hands,
They won't open their hearts and accept you,
But they'll slam the door and push you away,
Tell you you're nothing and stab you with the hurtful word they say.

No one is perfect as many people would say,
But in their eyes, they feel perfect and they won't listen to a word you say,
Respect is a broad word to understand not by mind but by our hearts and soul,
It's confusing to know what respect really means,
'Cause respect couldn’t be seen,
People are people and yes we make mistakes,
We try to be perfect but still, there are rules that we break,
The test of time will measure who we really are with every brave soul that sticks to the word respect and practice it,
Is a ghost of reality that haunts everyone to change what they are today,
Change the things that are wrong and learn to give way.

Good people often get hit by intrigues all the time,
But it doesn't mean revenge should come on the line,
'Cause if only people would learn to give respect to live and if we learn to give respect we'll all be happy,
And we'll never see someone crying or planning revenge to somebody,

Let's RESPECT everybody, treat them as a family.

Understanding

Why do we fight both black and white
'Cause we don't understand
If you give-you get-but if you want respect
Then please understand
Hatred begins and no one wins
Tell me who pays the price
From our generation to the next
Have respect for human life
A man kills another man for things he doens't understand
How can someone take a another life
If people just don't give a damn
Can't respect a man for what he is a man
Then the world will destruct from racial strife
I do believe in self-and self-respect is where it starts
You have to love yourself before you love me
And if love must play a part-then it has to come from the heart
In order for the pain of hate to cease
We got-we got-we got to stop hatred
Hatred is something perpetrated by lies
We got-we got-we got to have justice
The system plays god by who lives or dies
We got-we got- we got to have equality
Do not judge a man by the color of his skin
We need-we need- we need understanding
To make this world a better place to live in

Love Affair

I feel before we go any further
I think that I should let you know
I've got a boyfriend
And I would hate to do
Anything to hurt him
So my loyalty I'll show
Don't wanna cheat on him
Never been the kind of girl
Who'd be unfair in relationships
I don't wanna lead you on
No I

Don't want a love affair
I ain't never been the kind to cheat
Cause that ain't me
Don't want a love affair
See I ain't down with o.p.p.
No I
Don't want a love affair
It doesn't matter if we're being discreet
Cause that's not me
Don't wanna play around I ain't down with o.p.p.

Now you're startin' to
Look real good to me
But I think it's best you go
Before we go too far
Gotta try to resist temptation
That way nobody gets hurt
I got a boyfriend
Even if I was your girl
I still wouldn't give myself to another
Why can't you just understand
That's just the way I am

Don't want a love affair It doesn't matter if we're
being discreet
Cause that ain't me
Don't want a love affair
As long as my man's lovin' me
Don't want a love affair
It doesn't matter if we're being discreet
That's not me
Don't wanna play around
I will never kiss and tell

Can't believe that you would say you still
Would have respect in the morning
When i just couldn't respect myself
