I let my game do the talking. I've had incidents like that but when I compare my own story to the stories that have happened forty or fifty years ago particularly to Jackie Robinson for example.

Stafford's Cabin
Once there was a cabin here, and once there was a man;
And something happened here before my memory began.
Time has made the two of them the fuel of one flame
And all we have of them is now a legend and a name.
All I have to say is what an old man said to me,
And that would seem to be as much as there will ever be.
“Fifty years ago it was we found it where it sat.”—
And forty years ago it was old Archibald said that.
“An apple tree that’s yet alive saw something, I suppose,
Of what it was that happened there, and what no mortal knows.
Some one on the mountain heard far off a master shriek,
And then there was a light that showed the way for men to seek.
“We found it in the morning with an iron bar behind,
And there were chains around it; but no search could ever find,
Either in the ashes that were left, or anywhere,
A sign to tell of who or what had been with Stafford there.
“Stafford was a likely man with ideas of his own—
Though I could never like the kind that likes to live alone;
And when you met, you found his eyes were always on your shoes,
As if they did the talking when he asked you for the news.
“That’s all, my son. Were I to talk for half a hundred years
I’d never clear away from there the cloud that never clears.
We buried what was left of it,—the bar, too, and the chains;
And only for the apple tree there’s nothing that remains.”
Forty years ago it was I heard the old man say,
“That’s all, my son.”—And here again I find the place to-day,
Deserted and told only by the tree that knows the most,
And overgrown with golden-rod as if there were no ghost.

All though I didn't meet him. His legend and his saga and his story is just that. Jackie Robinson, we all have to tip our hat to him. Because he made the game available to guys like me.

Robinson was important to all blacks. To make it into the majors and to take all the name calling, he had to be something special. He had to take all this for years, not just for Jackie Robinson, but for the nation.

I wouldn't compare myself to any past Idol contestant, because I don't feel like I am like any of them. Maybe stories are cool but my story is different from most people's story. I don't like to compare myself to other people, I like to just be me.

Jim Crow was king... and I heard a game in which Jackie Robinson was playing, and I felt pride in being alive.
Jackie
(Sinead O'connor cover )
Jackie left on a cold, dark night
Telling me he'd be home
Sailed the seas for a hundred years
And left me all alone
Now I've been dead for twenty years
I've been washing the sand with my ghostly tears
Searching the shores for my Jackie-oh
And I remember the day that the young man came
Said, your Jackie's gone, he is lost in the rain
And I ran to the beach
And laid me down
You're all wrong, I said
And they stared to the sand
That man knows the sea like the back of his hand
He'll be back some time
Laughing at you
And I've been waiting all this time
For my man to come, take his hand in mine
And lead me away
To unsailed shores
I've been washing the sand with my salty tears
Searching the shore these long years
And I'll walk the sea forever more
'til I find my Jackie-oh
Jackie-oh
Jackie-oh
Jackie-oh

Surprises 2
Life is filled with surprises
and I have had my fair share of them.
Imagine going to a friend’s funeral
and months down the line,
you end up marrying his widow.
Yes, that has happened to me.
Imagine after fifty-six years
discovering you had a brother
you never knew you had.
Yes, that has happened to me.
Imagine going to school with someone
you never remember speaking to
and then fifty-one years later
they become your best friend.
Yes, that has happened to me.
Imagine this friend
introducing you to a friend of theirs
and between them both
turn your life around.
Yes, that has happened to me.
Surprises happen when you least expect them,
they can happen anytime anywhere.
You can never predict when they will occur,
they just happen for a reason,
a reason for which we are never sure.
However, never turn your back on them;
count them as a blessing
that might never come again.

Whatever Happened To Benjamin?
Whatever happened to Benjamin
when he got bored with young Elaine?
He learned that it’s more fun to sin,
because sin tends to dull the pain,
and more thrills come from stolen kisses
than ones made by a marriage licit.
That’s why he left Elaine, and Mrs.
Robinson each night would visit.
Inspired by a performance of “The Graduate, ” which Linda and I first saw at the Curzon Cinema in London in 1968 but never really appreciated, despite its amazing soundtrack, until we saw it again about forty years later. Linda’s comment to this poem wsa “like plastic, ” which made me realize that the movie has a inclusion. At the beginning Mr. Robinson advises Benjamin to think about plastic, and he ends up marrying a piece of it.

Swinging The Chain
Its against my uniform
To be a civil judge
All the songs are history now
'bout rock stars and their grudge
Let us cast our minds back
To thirty years or more
You took up all the vandals
Will hitler beat 'em all?
And were sad and sorry
Really sorry that it happened that way
Yes were sad and sorry
But whyd you have to treat us that way?
Compare ourselves with others
And cover them in sin
Oh, God what a terrible
A terrible state were in
There must be some way out of here
A comprimise thats right
If we cannot work it out
Were gonna have to fight
Yes were sad and sorry
Really sorry that it happened that way
Yes were sad and sorry
We cannot go on in those days
Im talking about my brothers
Yeah, Im talking 'bout sisters as well
I wish you good luck
Good luck!
Oh, but the worlds still on fire
Chain the hope you take on, liar
This fire
Were on fire, were on fire, yeah...

In Front Of Me
In front of me
In her wide, terrace home
She sat on the old rattan chair
Her body was thin
Her hollow eyes to muse in the sky
She wants tell a definite story
Which keep a more forty years ago?
With fear and apprehensive, under the old bones
Because of politic rumors and propaganda,
To lead astray and bring misfortune,
To day, In front of me, a grand ma told me her story
Story of her husband, which she keeps a more 40 years ago
Who had been arrested by military regime?
Because mismanagement, same name
But different person
One is my father friend,
And the other one, a teacher who became member of PGRI Non Vacsentral
Under bow of Indonesian Communist Party
I am and so your mother, both is member
Of democrat women, under bow of PNI Party
But because mismanagement under military regime,
My husband arrested,
As PKI members,
Without any explanation
Where my children need schooling, food for eat
And cloth, house for protect them in growth
However, to day, after forty years she feels free
After told all what happened
Of her husband and all of their suffering
In front of me
All of her depression
All of her oppress
Was free, like butterfly flying on the flower
Of her new gardens
In front of her home terrace

Ms. Jackie Blue's
Ms. Jackie was limble
Ms. Jackie was quick
Ms. Jackie was strong
She thought she had life licked
Ms. Jackie was determined to never, ever quit
She seemed to struggled with life and what it reallly meant
Ms. Jackie would often try many of the get rich tricks
Ms. Jackie really believed that she. had found her nitch,
The nitch that was right,
A perfect fit,
to later find out that it wasn't quite legit
Ms. Jackie then lost mind and would often have fits
Relentlessly chanting of how she must not quit
Yet, Ms. Jackie still somehow embraced the counterfeits
Ms. Jackie claimed to be superior with supernatural whit
Adhereing to voices that one should forget
Sadly enough, even thou it is painful to admit,
That all the right people and her most close friends
Simply couldn't do nothing to help bring
Ms. Jackie's fire for life back once again
Ms. Jackie's Blue's
Never let it happen to you!

English Jan
She still has her English accent the one known as English Jan
And she never was a mother nor a wife to any man
She ages without dyes or makeups her hair is silver gray
But do not say about her she has known a better day.
She migrated to Melbourne from Blackpool her Hometown by the Irish sea
When she was in her early twenties in nineteen fifty three
Fifty one years in Australia yet she remains undimmed by time
And more than forty years have passed since she was in her prime.
For forty years a school teacher her retirement she enjoy
And she will make the most of every day until the day she die
She plays bowls on a saturday and on sunday evening after eight
She socializes with her friends and always until late.
On sunday mornings at the Corner cafe she is one I always see
And she does always say hello and smile and wave at me
So down to earth and carefree and untainted by conceit
And one of those good people I feel happy for to meet
She does not use dyes or makeups and she ages in the natural way
And she is one of those nice people who makes a new friend every day
From the English Town of Blackpool by the cold Irish sea
She migrated to Melbourne in nineteen fifty three.

Jackie Blue
Ooh-hoo, jackie blue
Lives a life from inside of her room
Hides a smile when shes wearing a frown
Ooh, jackie, your not so down
You like your life in a free form style
Youll take an inch but youd love a mile
There never seems to be quite enough
Loving around us when your loving comes
Ooh-hoo, jackie blue
Whats a game, ooh, that you never lose
Ask a winner and youll probably find
Ooh, jackie they lost you some time
Dont try tell me that youre not aware
Of what youre doing and that you dont care
You say that its easy, just a natural thing
Like playing music that youve never seen
Ooh-hoo, jackie blue
Making wishes that never come true
Going places where youve never been
Ooh, jackie, youve blown it again
Ooh-hoo, jackie blue
Lives a life from inside her room
Makes you think that life is a drag
Ooh, jackie, what fun you have had

Zig Zag Stories
I had a zig zag story just the other day
I rolled a fat blunt and yo, it ripped this way
I took a puff (uh-huh) and what did i see?
Those motherf__kers still wanna i-c-e
To blaze up a sac of that green bombay
And when i reach my peak, i explode like dante
Tha ganjay has got my mind wide open, i'm soakin'
In the music, i use it, and don't abuse it
And true, it gets me high like the sky
I will buy 'till the day that i die
You ain't gotta ask me why
I take tokes from the smoke, i can't deny
Got a lifetime supply
And i wanna get you high
Get you high all night
'cause i wanna get you high
Get you high all night
And i wanna get you high
Bang another joint
Zig zag stories
Bang another joint
Zig zag stories
This is a zig zag story that i had last night
A six-pack, a joint, and i was feeling all right
Lit up tha chronic, and what did i see?
This bad-a__ bit_h creeping up on me
She had the look that could get the ice cooked up in a second
I pictured her undressing and gettin' butt-naked
She walked up to me and said her name was mary jane
Ain't no shame in my game, down to do anything
Took me by the hand, ask me if i'd like to fly
You know i like to fly
'cause i wanna get you high
Get you high all night
'cause i wanna get you high
Get you high all night
And i wanna get you high
Bang another joint
Zig zag stories
Bang another joint
Zig zag stories
(right here, you know we're gettin' 'em high right now)
Now here's a zig zag story that i'm havin' right now
Gotta get myself together 'cause some sh_t is goin' down
Hit you people off with my new cd
Hard to swallow, like saying "f__k the industry!"
I'm stompin' through the bayou with my black boots laced
And takin' out you motherf__kers acting two-faced
For the people out there gonna blaze 'till i die
Blaze up the thai
'cause i wanna get you high
Get you high all night
'cause i wanna get you high
Get you high all night
And i wanna get you high
Bang another joint
Zig zag stories
Bang another joint
Zig zag stories
(blaze up a sac of the green bombay...ahh, that feels good...ahh, yeah,
That's a joint over here, mother...ahh)
