Small Town America
just an old southern
mill village.... cotton mills
on one side of the road,
furniture factories on the other.
momma worked there,
my sister worked there,
my brother worked there,
and i worked there....
$1.90 an hour, loading trucks
by hand, stacking rolls of cloth
eight feet high without a lift...
putting brackets on beds, or
running bandsaws....
hard hand work, paid every week.
all those buildings empty now....
windows boarded over, signs
falling.... rats run across haunted floors.
even the old gas station
down at the end of the road....
is closed.... no more gas,
no cigarettes, no cold beer.....
and the Sons Of Jesus,
and the Elk's Club quit sharing
the old dance building on the corner....
no one lives here anymore.....
no one lives, no one dies....
and the bum on the corner
that looks like your brother
has no name.... in
small town America!

More than 70 percent of seniors are asking for more time. It is long overdue for Congress to listen and make sure that seniors have a prescription drug plan that works for them.

I mean, they're threatening - my career is over. You know, everything I've worked so hard. I've worked extremely hard since about 17 years old, you know, as a White House intern on up.

I can't tell you how hard I worked the last year. In fact, I worked so hard that I know I can't maintain that same work level in 2001, so I've got to quit something.

I had a hard time with that hockey. I hadn't grown up skating, so that was my biggest challenge. We worked on it and worked on it. But then when we first shot it, it was so hard for me.

I've also worked hard portraying an Ireland which is fast disappearing. Ireland was a very depressed and difficult place in the 1980s, and I've tried to include that in the script. I worked really hard to find the heart of the book.

Making Of A Man
Man doesn't want to beg or rob
To support himself he needs and wants a job
And when he does, he'll do the best that he can
And truly what he does, makes himself a man,
He doesn't want to rely by the support of others
Whether they be friends or strangers, or sisters or brothers
He wants to build and support with his own two hands
As that is truly, what makes himself a man,
He wants to be proud of how he lives his life
As he would rather give than take, from the needy in life
The calluses on his hands shows where he has been
As being a lazy man, he will never be accused of that sin,
Everything he owns he has paid for and bought
From the work he has done, the possessions he sought
And the pride started when he could either begged or steal
But then he knows that life is either a sweet or sour pill,
He lives by his pride and his honor is his work
Supporting himself and his family is his greatest perk
He will continue this tradition until he cannot anymore
When his body is tired, and his muscles are sore,
Then the day will come when he is old and gray
And out in the pasture they will put him to graze
He will remember how he worked and proudly he did stand
And how he sweated and worked; as he became a man.

Recently, lobbyists for the pharmaceutical industry wrote a prescription drug bill that increased their profits and did nothing to help seniors. The result: seniors are stuck with a confusing prescription drug plan that does little to help them with their costs.

However, the Medicare prescription drug benefit has changed, and if the nearly 3,000 seniors I have met through 12 town halls can represent a sample of opinion, many seniors do not yet understand the prescription drug program and do not plan to sign up for coverage.

I think this is one of the greatest strengths of this school. Not only do the students go on to achieve great milestones in their own lives, they never forget their roots and the school that gave them the chance they needed to improve their lives and their families' lives.

I’m Proud, an Indian Doctor
I’m proud an Indian doctor;
I have a billion lives to save;
In practice, let me not falter;
But with my patients well behave.
’Tis thrilling to serve fellowmen,
Suff’ring from newer disease;
Let me use my fullest ken,
And teach them how to live in peace.
My country is a poor nation;
My brethren need my treatment;
So, let me serve with passion;
And free them from their ailment.
God turned me to be healer great;
And serve my fellowmen ill;
Let me improve patient’s fate;
By using my God-given skill.
I’m proud to serve my brethren;
God will bless me some day, some way;
A Doctor turns earth to heaven-
Some day, my patients will sure say!

We're saying no changes for Medicare for people above the age of 55. And in order to keep the promise to current seniors who've already retired and organized their lives around this program, you have to reform it for the next generation.
Ragging Menace
How can you ever rag a fresher, say,
When he or she is new to college, aye?
Each life is equally priceless today;
You don’t have right to talk, your hand to lay!
Yes, seniors rag when juniors in fear stay;
They do or say whatever: come what may;
For nasty things, they have a price to pay;
The age-old social evil stays this way!
But ragging is a menace and a crime;
It continues despite new laws with time;
The seniors want a jolly time and clime;
The silly habit is not worth a dime!
But seniors aren’t licensed to do such things;
Their words and actions at times simply stings;
They think freshers are servants; they are kings!
Yes, transient joys and thrills just ragging brings!
Who cares about the freshers’ temperaments?
They cannot keep their hair or wear garments;
They are victims of senior merriments;
Some lives end in gruesome experiments!
Yes, seniors want juniors to them respect;
Their ways are harsh and ill-feelings inject;
If guilty, college can them well eject;
But ragging is something all well reject!
The habit is an evil that must stop;
Arrests can be effected by a cop;
Punished are all from bottom to the top;
Yet, anti-ragging measures sometimes flop!
A change in attitude is needed fast;
The menace is much better than in past;
A mutual love and respect must well last;
Friendship will end this evil that’s aghast!
“Ragging is a crime; ragging is banned for all times! ”
dedicated to all well-behaved college students

Oh, Candy
Oh candy why did you do it
You shouldve called me on the telephone
I didnt expect for you call me
cause I didnt think that you were alone
So alone
Oh, candy worked so hard
At doin what he thought was right
It really really doesnt mean a thing
Oh, candy worked so hard
At doin what he thought was right
It really really doesnt mean a thing
Oh candy why did you do it
You didnt stick a needle in your vein
You just got so damned depressed
We all liked you except yourself
Oh, candy worked so hard
At doin what he thought was right
It really really doesnt mean a thing
Oh, candy worked so hard
At doin what he thought was right
It really really doesnt mean a thing
You, you wont be comin around no more
You, you wont be comin around no more
Oh candy why did you do it
I didnt think you heard a word that I said
