These Old Knees
These old knees are hard to move.
It's like they're set in stone.
Every movement that I take
Remind me how they've grown
Achy, sore and quite unsure
of their ability to do their job,
bending them or stooping down
without that burning throb.
I've taken them for granted
for such a long, long time.
Now I've forgotten how easy it was
when there were steps to climb.
But Mother Nature decided to pay a call
And slow me down a bit.

Just seems like it’s that way to me
Taller guys seem to get executive jobs
Shorter guys work mostly as clerks
Taller guys never seem to be slobs
Shorter guys always seem to be jerks

I come from a TV background, so for me this more like doing a freeing theatre piece because we'd go into a room and do the scene, instead of doing it as a wide shot, medium shot, and close up with only the odd line of dialogue.

Allow me to decide the course of my life
He was a bit bulky little boy
Finding it difficult to get up
And walk on his own
When we, as parents, helped him
To get up and walk
He used to sweep aside
Our helping fingers
So that he could move around
On his already hurt bruised knees
He made at last his first step
When a tri-wheeler walk-aid

Its colourful handle
