Introductions, that is, belong to the masterpieces and classics of the world, to the great and ancient and accepted things; and I am here introducing a short, small story of my own which appeared in The Evening News about ten months ago.

In Our Small Way
Refrain
Maybe you and I cant do great things
We may not change the world in one day
But we still can change some things today...
In our small way
Empty words are not enough
Where theres hurt well be a crush
When theres thirst well fill each others cup
Because we care we love enough to share
Refrain
Maybe you and I cant do great things
We may not change the world in one day
But we still can change some things today...
In our small way
In despair well be the hope
And the prayer that frees the soul
Well be there to share each lonely road
Because we love, I know
We care enough
Refrain
Maybe you and I cant do great things
We may not change the world in one day
But we still can change some things today...
In our small way
Just a little time is all it takes
What a difference just a smile can make, youll see
Love is all we need
Refrain
Maybe you and I cant do great things
We may not change the world in one day
But we still can change some things today...
In our small way

Blenda
All flesh is not the same,
Like the difference in every star;
So is my love for Blenda.
This world is ours today but,
Man leads a life of sin;
The string of sin is death but,
The power over sin is the law.
I will be with you,
I will always put you on;
Like a man's short hair.
You blong to me and,
I belong to you;
I don't belong to water but air,
You don't belong to air but water;
In the very mix of things to share our love in style.

True
Sun come shining through
You are still dreaming
I can hardly believe it
Im here with you
Lying in you arms
I hear you breathing
I tried to capture the moment
That I share with you
Can this be true
I belong to you
You belong to me
Can this be true
I belong to you
You belong to me
Tell me this is true
Drowning in your eyes
Your heart is beating
The world outside it feels so cold
But its warm here with you
Hours they go by
My love keeps growing
Its like we live in slow motion
Im so lost in you
Can this be true
I belong to you
You belong to me
Can this be true
I belong to you
You belong to me
Tell me this is true
Can this be true
I belong to you
You belong to me
Can this be true
I belong to you
You belong to me
Can this be true
I belong to you
You belong to me
Can this be true
I belong to you
You belong to me
I cant believe its true

The novel is about five students of classics who are studying with a classics professor, and they take the ideas of the things that they're learning from him a bit too seriously, with terrible consequences.

Where has the justice gone?
Where has the justice gone?
Did we lose it somewhere along the line?
I sure hope I haven’t lost mine,
My love of all things great,
My love of all things small,
My love of all things short,
My love of all things tall,
We live in this world filled with hate,
Why can’t he be your mate?
Where has the justice gone?

Ancient recipients of instant news probably couldn't do very much about it, for instance. Xerxes would still need three months to get his army together, and he might not get home for years.

Uncertainty
The people who devoted half of their life time.
The masterpieces, classics, poems, prose
book making, love letters, scriptures
and written all valuable documents et cetera.
For a peevish book worm
it's nothing.
A day is quite enough to bring to an end.

You Don't Belong Down Here
Sky rise so haunting on the other side of the street
Two thin white lines between where you are and where you should be
I know sometimes when you fly you think you're larger than life
But then you come crashing down and you're asleep on the ground
A king without his crown
Chorus:
You don't belong down here
You don't belong down here
You don't belong down here
Anymore, not ever
This park is an island in a sea of despair
In the heart of the city of angels who aren't even there
I see you praying for hope while you keep worshipping dope
The devil right by your side and i see death in your eyes
Will you live or do you have the will to die
Chorus
Doo, doo, doo, doo
I want to do things before they become
The things i should have done in my life
Chorus
We don't belong down here
You don't belong down here
You don't belong and we don't belong
We don't belong down here
We don't belong down here
We don't belong
No one belongs down here anymore
Not ever

Fools gawp at masterpieces - wise men set out to outdo masterpieces.
The Machine
The little biplane that has the river-meadow for landing-field
And carries passengers brief rides,
Buzzed overhead on the tender blue above the orange of sundown.
Below it five troubled night-herons
Turned short over the shore from its course, four east, one northward.
Beyond them
Swam the new moon in amber.
I don't know why, but lately the forms of things appear to me with time
One of their visible dimensions.
The thread brightness of the bent moon appeared enormous, unnumbered
Ages of years; the night-herons
Their natural size, they have croaked over the shore in the hush at sundown
Much longer than human language
Has fumbled with the air: but the plane having no past but a certain future,
Insect in size as in form,
Was also accepted, all these forms of power placed without preference
In the grave arrangement of the evening.

Trance
falling into a trance
his world curled into a huge wall
his arms are too short to make an embrace
the house too wide like the sea
and the stairs lengthened its rails
to heaven
those who watch him in pity
of course cannot understand
he does not belong to their
comprehension anymore
neither does he
desire to be a part of their
too narrow world where his lips
are too small to paint a word.

You Belong To Me
Verse 1
Why'd you tell me this
Were you looking for my reaction
What do you need to know
Don't you know I'll always be your girl
You don't have to prove to me you're beautiful to strangers
I've got lovin' eyes, of my own...
Chorus
You belong to me
Tell her - tell her you were foolin'
(You belong to me)
You don't even know her
(You belong to me)
Tell her that I love you
(You belong to me...)
Verse 2
You belong to me
Can it be, honey, that you're not sure
You belong to me
Thought we'd closed the book and locked the door
You don't have to prove to me That you're beautiful to strangers
I've got loving eyes of my own (of my own...)
And I can tell - I can tell darling...
Tell her... tell her that I love you
Chorus 2
(You belong to me)
You belong... you belong... you belong to me
(You belong to me)
Tell her you were foolin'
(You belong to me)
Tell her she don't even know you
Chorus 3
Tell... her-tell her you were foolin'
(You belong to me)
I know you from a long time ago baby
(You belong to me)
Don't make me go to her house
(You belong to me)
You belong, you belong, you belong to me
Repeat to Fade
You belong to me...(You belong to me)
You belong to me...(You belong to me)
You belong to me...(You belong to me)
You belong to me...(You belong to me)...

To the prison satellite penal one...)

When the Watchman Saw the Light
Winter, summer, the watchman sat there looking out
from the roof of Atreus' palace.
Now he has good news to report. He's seen the fire light up
in the distance and he's happy; besides, the drudgery's over now:
it's hard to sit there night and day in heat and cold,
waiting for a fire to show
on the peak of Arachnaion.
Now the longed-for signal has appeared. Yet when happiness comes
it brings less joy than one expected.
But at least we've gained this much: we've rid ourselves
of hope and expectation. Many things will happen
to the house of Atreus: no need to be wise
to guess this now the watchman has seen the light.
So let's not exaggerate.
The light is good; and those coming are good,
their words and actions also good.
And let's hope all goes well.
But Argos can do without the house of Atreus.
Ancient houses are not eternal.
Of course many people will have much to say.
We should listen. But we won't be deceived
by words such as Indispensable, Unique, and Great.
Someone else indispensable and unique and great
can always be found at a moment's notice.

The Poem Of The Evening
THE POEM OF THE EVENING
The poem of the evening
Is a small poem
It waits for its own words
And hears itself come slowly and surely
It knows by the time the darkness is here
It will already be real.
The poem of the evening
Is an easy and small poem
It may not mean much
But it comes so smoothly
It seems to laugh at the heat of the day
And love itself for being here.
The poem of the evening
After the long day
Is a happy poem
And it looks forward to praying the evening prayer forever.

The ancient Romans built their greatest masterpieces of architecture, their amphitheaters, for wild beasts to fight in.
Amongst Wealth And Fame
Amongst wealth and fame there is great poverty
With such things should not happen here most would agree
A poor homeless bloke with only a mattress for a bed
On the embankment under a railway underpass for six months lay dead.
Under the railway underpass he died where he lay
For months undiscoverd that seems sad to say
A man in his forties one without a friend
He lived a sad life and his was a sad end.
In Melbourne Victoria this must be a lie
In such a wealthy City people of neglect never die?
But the facts tell us differently and i must make it clear
That it is not of fiction i am writing of here.
Some of the less kind will tell you we live and die as we choose
That he was one of those blokes destined to lose
And though they are entitled for to air their views
They seem to make light of what is quite sad news.
Six months he was dead when his remains were found
Amongst wealth and fame poverty does abound
It is not for one like him that you should pray
For if there is a heaven he is there today.

This Is Where I Belong
I cant think of a place Id rather be.
The whole wide world doesnt mean so much to me,
For this is where I belong,
This is where I belong.
Tell me now if you want me to stay.
It dont matter, cause Id stay here anyway.
For this is where I belong,
This is where I belong.
Well, I aint gonna wander,
Like the boy I used to know.
Hes a real unluckly fella,
And hes got no place to go.
I wont search for a house upon a hill.
Why should I when Id only miss you still,
For this is where I belong,
This is where I belong.
This is where I belong.
