I woke up this mornin',
Peaked out my door:

It's my one day off: I was gonna play golf.
There goes the plans that I made.

we damn the weather
we blame the gods
we for once do not like
the smell of water.....but then...

Gods of the white man,
Gods of the black man,
Gods of the almond shade
all of these Gods
have done one thing,
made the people afraid.

Nothing Is Perfect
Theres plenty of food on the table
Lots of love in the house
The children all do what theyre able to do
We got so much to be happy about.
I got a woman standing beside me
She really knows how to stand by her man
Shes strong and shes soft and shes honest to me
She really helps me to be a good man.
But nothing is perfect in gods perfect plan
Look in the shadow to see
He only gave us the good things so wed understand
What life without them would be.
Theres plenty of wheat on the prairies
Lots of coal in the mines
We got soldiers so strong they can bury their dead
And still not go back shooting blind.
Theres women and men on the workforce
Doing forty hours plus overtime
So the hostages held at the airport
Can come home to something worthwhile.

Almost a Perfect Day
My memory of almost a perfect day
the weather was sunny and perfect
seem like it was beginning of spring
or maybe possibly it was in summer
almost a perfect day
when I was the age of six or seven
the two of us mother and I both took
a walk to a cool mountain spring
close by was a chattering brooke
set back in the leafy green forest
everything was in such harmony
almost a perfect day
walking back down the narrow path
our home set farther down the lane
we encountered a family of geese
which weren't in a very good mood
