Bunny Slippers (TM) (For Will)

Bunny slippers,
Bunny slippers,
Pitter patter feet,
Running down the hallway,
Seeing who they meet.

Bunny slippers,
Bunny slippers,
Running all night long,
Curious feet,
Can really do no wrong.

Beautiful Girl

Nickys in the corner
With a black coat on
Running from a bad home
With some cat inside
Now where did you find her
Among the neon lights
That haunt the streets outside
Stay with me
Beautiful girl
(stay with me)
Beautiful girl
(stay with me)
She wants to go home
From door way to door way
Street corner to corner
With neon ghosts in the city
And she sings
Stay with me
Stay with me
Stay with me
Stay with me
Shes so scared
So very frightened
Anything could happen
Right here tonight
Beautiful girl
(stay with me)
Beautiful girl
(stay with me)
She wants to go home
Beautiful girl
(stay with me)
Beautiful girl
(stay with me)
Beautiful girl
(stay with me)
Beautiful girl
(stay with me)

The Archbishop And Gil Blas

A MODERNIZED VERSION

I DON'T think I feel much older; I'm aware I'm rather gray,
But so are many young folks; I meet 'em every day.
I confess I 'm more particular in what I eat and drink,
But one's taste improves with culture; that is all it means, I think.

_Can you read as once you used to?_ Well, the printing is so bad,
No young folks' eyes can read it like the books that once we had.
_Are you quite as quick of hearing?_ Please to say that once again.
_Don't I use plain words, your Reverence?_ Yes, I often use a cane,

But it's not because I need it,--no, I always liked a stick;
And as one might lean upon it, 't is as well it should be thick.
Oh, I'm smart, I'm spry, I'm lively,--I can walk, yes, that I can,
On the days I feel like walking, just as well as you, young man!

_Don't you get a little sleepy after dinner every day?_
Well, I doze a little, sometimes, but that always was my way.
_Don't you cry a little easier than some twenty years ago?_
Well, my heart is very tender, but I think 't was always so.

_Don't you find it sometimes happens that you can't recall a name?_
Yes, I know such lots of people,--but my memory 's not to blame.
What! You think my memory's failing! Why, it's just as bright and clear,
I remember my great-grandma! She's been dead these sixty year!

_Is your voice a little trembly?_ Well, it may be, now and then,
But I write as well as ever with a good old-fashioned pen;
It 's the Gillotts make the trouble,--not at all my finger-ends,--
That is why my hand looks shaky when I sign for dividends.

_Don't you stoop a little, walking?_ It 's a way I 've always had,
I have always been round-shouldered, ever since I was a lad.
_Don't you hate to tie your shoe-strings?_ Yes, I own it--that is true.
_Don't you tell old stories over?_ I am not aware I do.

_Don't you stay at home of evenings? Don't you love a cushioned seat_
_In a corner, by the fireside, with your slippers on your feet?_
_Don't you wear warm fleecy flannels? Don't you muffle up your throat_
_Don't you like to have one help you when you're putting on your coat?_

_Don't you like old books you've dogs-eared, you can't remember when?_
_Don't you call it late at nine o'clock and go to bed at ten?_
_How many cronies can you count of all you used to know_
_Who called you by your Christian name some fifty years ago?_

_How look the prizes to you that used to fire your brain?_
_You've reared your mound-how high is it above the level plain?_
_You 've drained the brimming golden cup that made your fancy reel,_
_You've slept the giddy potion off,--now tell us how you feel!_

_You've watched the harvest ripening till every stem was cropped,_
_You 've seen the rose of beauty fade till every petal dropped,_
_You've told your thought, you 've done your task, you've tracked your
dial round,_
--I backing down! Thank Heaven, not yet! I'm hale and brisk and sound,

And good for many a tussle, as you shall live to see;
My shoes are not quite ready yet,--don't think you're rid of me!
Old Parr was in his lusty prime when he was older far,
And where will you be if I live to beat old Thomas Parr?

_Ah well,--I know,--at every age life has a certain charm,_--
_You're going? Come, permit me, please, I beg you'll take my arm._
I take your arm! Why take your arm? I 'd thank you to be told
I 'm old enough to walk alone, but not so _very_ old!

Belmore Place

The corner of my street
Too many miles, too tired to sleep
On a plane of dreams and sunbeams
Coming home to belmore place
Fireside flickered lights
A brighter sign of winter pines
I live it up somewhere youll find
Im living up on belmore place
The corner of my dreams
So many thoughts, they sit too deep
On a train I travel on my memories
Coming home to belmore place
Fireside flickered lights
A brighter sign of winter pines
I live it up somewhere youll find
Im living up on belmore place
In the slumber of my sleep
So many thoughts they cover me
A sweet lullaby of melodies
Carried home to belmore place
Fireside flickered lights
A brighter sign of winter pines
I live it up somewhere youll find
Im living up on belmore place

Lyrically Maneuvered

Lyrically maneuvered.
That's the only way I move.
With content and something meant...
That puts me in a mood.

I'm lyrically maneuvered,
Grooving in a cool behooved.
There has to be a need in me..
To soothe my attitude.

And I don't need a finger popping rock,
To get me started.
And I don't need a cushioned beat...
To pat my feet!

And I don't need a finger popping rock,
To get me started.
And I don't need a cushioned beat...
To pat my feet to a meter.

Lyrically maneuvered.
That's the only way I move.
With content and something meant...
That puts me in a mood.
And...
I,
Don't need a finger popping rock...
To get me started,
No!
And I don't need a cushioned beat...
To pat my feet,
To keep up with a meter.

And...
I,
Don't need a finger popping rock...
To get me started,
No!
And I don't need a cushioned beat,
To pat my feet...
To keep up with a meter,
If the lyric keeps my heat up.

Whisper Quietly In The Night

See that man who sits there crying
in the corner down the street
his blankets of newspaper
and old slippers on his feet
he is one of the forgotten
who once had happy lives
but now one of the dispossessed
bereft of kids and wife
look closely at his countenance
his empty pleading stare
and whisper quietly in the night
thank god its not me there.

Home AT LAST!

We're home!
We're home!
Drop your bags on the floor.
Jump on the couch.
Turn on the television.
I don't care what anybody else says.
But, WE'RE HOME!
Home from the fear.
Home from the dead.
Home from the fire.
Home from the cruelty.
The horrible things.
Its no more a dream.
Your home.
Your here.
With your wife.
With your kids.
With your family.
Your home.
Maybe not in the most beautiful and expensively built place.
But its perfect.
Because everyone is here.
Everyone you've missed.
For so long.
Your home.
Once again.
And this time your to stay.
In the warmth and love.
Of your families.
Hey thanks.
For fighting for us.
We appreciate it.
Now stay home and live your dream.
Love, love, love, and LOVE.
Because.
Everyone's home.

Black Slippers: Bellotti

At the table beyond us
With her little suede slippers off,
With her white-stocking'd feet
Carefully kept from the floor by a napkin,
She converses:

'Connaissez-vous Ostende?'

The gurgling Italian lady on the other side of the
restaurant
Replies with a certain hauteur,
But I await with patience,
To see how Celestine will re-enter her slippers.
She re-enters them with a groan.

Rich Mans Spiritual

Gonna but me a long white robe
Yes lord to help me home
Im gonna buy me a long white robe
Yes lord to get me home
And when I get my heavenly gown
And I lay my burden down
Im gonna get me a long white robe to get me home
Im gonna buy me two golden slippers
Yes lord to walk me home
Im gonna buy me two golden slippers
Yes lord to walk me home
And when I get my slippers of gold
Then the lord will have my soul
Im gonna get me two golden slippers to get me home
Im gonna buy me two wings of silver
Yes lord to fly me home
Im gonna buy me two wings of silver
Yes lord to fly me home
And when I get my silvery wings
Then an angel choir will sing
Im gonna get me two wings of silver to get me home
Im gonna buy me a poor mans trouble
Yes lord to help me home
Im gonna buy me a poor mans trouble
Yes lord to help me home
And when I get my trouble and woe
Then homeward I will go
Im gonna get a little trouble and woe to get me home
Im gonna find me a smilin angel
Yes lord to lead me home
Im gonna get me a smilin angel
Yes lord to lead me home
And when he takes me by the hand
I know the lord will understand
Im gonna get me a smilin angel to lead me home
Im gonna get me a smilin angel to lead me home

See You See Me

Where is the rhyme, where is the reason
Who stands to judge me in this way
Some call it choice, some call it treason
Why find me guilty on this day
Stay home and watch it on T.V.
Stay home and watch it on T.V.
See you - See me
Now is the time, now is the season
When we should have something to say
You keep your faith, I'll keep my freedom
Why should we listen anyway
Stay home and watch it on T.V
Stay home and watch it on T.V
See you - See me
How is there no way of pleasing
And who has the answer of the day
When will they stop all of the squeezing
Why should we play the game their way
Stay home and watch it on T.V
Stay home and watch it on T.V
See you - See me
Stay home and watch it on T.V
Stay home and watch it on T.V
See you - See me

Look Into The Future

Look into the future by journey
Look into the future where would it be
Space between the lives whatever will I see yah
How long will I wander before I really know
What Im here to do and where I have to go
Yes Im coming home
Yes you know Im coming home someday
You know Im coming home
Im coming home some way
There you are my shining start
Can you remember who you are
The role that you play from day to dayayayay
You know its not know its not the only way
Still Im coming home
Yes you know know Im coming home someday
The futures brighter now its not so far away
Dodododododododododo
Yes Im coming home Im coming home some way
Guitar/piano fill
But still Im coming home,
Yes you know Im coming home someday
The futures brighter now its not so far away
Guitar solo
Its right around the corner
Just around the corner, oh no
Just around the corner, oh no no no ho
Just around the corner, oh no no

People from a world corner

The worst poverty in the world
The worst discrimination in the world
While people thinking about Global Warming
Corner people thinking how to survive
Corner people struggling one day by one day
While people living in the rocket age
Corner people walking miles to miles for one day survive
Corner people surprising whenever a plane is flying
While people thinking about living on other planets
Corner people crying to get a four feet square area
Corner people watering their blood for a four feet squares area
While people thinking about homosexual marriage
Corner people giving their lives for saving their children
Corner people growing never ever seeing their parents
While people thinking about which food is the best in the world
Corner people running thousand miles to get a few rice
Corner people dying lack of food and water
While people thinking about legalization of prostitution
Corner people not knowing what is the law
Corner people never seeing decided by a just justice
Corner people are not people!
Corner people are not from this world!
I would wonder............

Ain't Misbehavin'

No one to talk with
All by myself
No one to walk with
But I'm happy on the shelf
Ain't misbehavin'
I'm savin' my love for you
I know for certain
The one I love
I'm through with flirtin'
It's just you I'm thinkin' of
Ain't misbehavin'
I'm savin' my love for you
Like Jack Horner
In the corner
Don't go nowhere
What do I care
Your kisses
Are worth waiting for
Believe me
I don't stay out late
Don't care to go
I'm home about eight
Just me and my radio
Ain't misbehavin'
I'm savin' my-y love for you
Like Jack Horner
In the corner
Don't go nowhere
What do I care
Your kisses
Are worth waiting for
Believe me-ee
I don't stay out late
Don't care to go

Just me and my radio
Ain't misbehavin'
I'm saving my love for you...

The Little Church Round the Corner

'Bring him not here, where our sainted feet
Are treading the path to glory;
Bring him not here, where our Saviour sweet
Repeats for
us
his story.
Go, take him where such things are done
(For he sat in the seat of the scorner),
To where they have room, for we have none,--
To the little church down the corner.'

So spake the holy man of God,
Of another man, his brother,
Whose cold remains, ere they sought the sod,
Had only asked that a Christian rite
Might be read above them by one whose light
Was, 'Brethren, love one another:'
Had only asked that a prayer be read
Ere his flesh went down to join the dead,
While his spirit looked with suppliant eyes,
Searching for God throughout the skies.
But the priest frowned 'No,' and his brow was bare
Of love in the sight of the mourner,
And they looked for Christ and found him--where?
In that little church round the corner.

Ah! well, God grant when, with aching feet,
We tread life's last few paces,
That we may hear some accents sweet,
And kiss, to the end, fond faces.
God grant that this tired flesh may rest
('Mid many a musing mourner),
While the sermon is preached and the rites are read
In no church where the heart of love is dead,
And the pastor's a pious prig at best,
But in some small nook where God's confessed,--
Some little church round the corner.

Take A Load Of Your Feet

I do them when Im down in the tub
With avocado cream theyll take a rub
They wrinkle like a-raisins if I stay too long
I wouldnt want to do it wrong
Theyll put you in the drivers seat
And to the table when you want to eat
But when you go to sit down in your chair
Something else has gotta put you there
Take good care of your feet, pete
You better watch out what you eat, pete
Better take care of your life
cause nobody else will
Theyll twinkle when you fall in love
And put you there when you jump up above
When youre on the spot, get em right under you
One, then the other too
If you want to do the right thing for em
Just take a walk in the grass
But dont you catch yourself fallin
Or steppin on a piece of glass
(ouch glass)
Pete knows all the treacherous blows
The fallen arches and the cramp in the toes
He went to h. e. l. p. and got some sandals new
And dusty old saunas too
Take a load of your feet pete
You better watch out what you eat
Better take care of your life
cause nobody else will
Do do do do do do do do do do
Petes feet are your feet oh
Do do do do do do do do do do
Petes feet are your feet oh
Do do do do do do do do do do
Oh!

The Corner Man

I dreamt a dream at the midnight deep,
When fancies come and go
To vex a man in his soothing sleep
With thoughts of awful woe --
I dreamed that I was the corner man
Of a nigger minstrel show.
I cracked my jokes, and the building rang
With laughter loud and long;
I hushed the house as I softly sang
An old plantation song --
A tale of the wicked slavery days
Of cruelty and wrong.

A small boy sat on the foremost seat --
A mirthful youngster he,
He beat the time with his restless feet
To each new melody,
And he picked me out as the brightest star
Of the black fraternity.

"Oh, father," he said, "what would we do
If the corner man should die?
I never saw such a man -- did you?
He makes the people cry,
And then, when he likes, he makes them laugh."
The old man made reply:

"We each of us fill a very small space
On the great creation's plan,
If a man don't keep his lead in the race
There's plenty more that can;
The world can very soon fill the place
Of even a corner man."

I woke with a jump, rejoiced to find
Myself at home in bed,
And I framed a moral in my mind
From the words the old man said.
The world will jog along just the same
When the corner men are dead.
