Returning From Greece
Well, we're nearly there, Hermippos.
Day after tomorrow, it seems - that's what the captain said.
At least we're sailing our seas,
the waters of our own countries - Cyprus, Syria, Egypt -
waters we know and love.
Why so silent? Ask your heart:
didn't you too feel happier
the further we got from Greece?
What's the point of fooling ourselves?
That wouldn't be properly Greek, would it?
It's time we admitted the truth:
we're Greeks also - what else are we?-
but with Asiatic tastes and feelings,
tastes and feelings
sometimes alien to Hellenism.
It isn't correct, Hermippos, for us philosophers
to be like some of our petty kings
(remember how we laughed at them
when they used to come to our lectures?)
who through their showy Hellenified exteriors
(Macedonian exteriors, naturally)
let a bit of Arabia peep out now and then,
a bit of Media they can't keep back.
And to what laughable lengths the fools went
trying to cover it up!
No, that's not at all correct for us.
For Greeks like us that kind of pettiness won't do.
We simply can't be ashamed
of the Syrian and Egyptian blood in our veins;
we should really honour it, delight in it.

Sight Of The Beautiful
My God what a beautiful sight, its the most beautiful I have ever seen. My Lord it is amazing what you can created by just saying simple words. Sometimes in life things can be simple but other times there that can be a hail storm on a sunny day. Many say that life is hard and death is simple, for as life comes with complication, death comes with freedom of letting go. Oh God, My God oh is this so beautiful, beautiful the stars in the night shy, beautiful as the pillar of creation, beautiful as the earth from the moon, and beautiful as a first kiss. My God Oh God how is this so beautiful? For such simple words as "let there be" can alter into reality, what all of earth should see, something that you have created just for me. Oh God, My God I love you so, for you have showed me the way to all that is beautiful. Oh God, My God for this you are beautiful, as beautiful as a rainbow in the lunar shy, those are rare to see, but so is the one whose eyes are on the sparrow. The things make you beautiful my Lord, and your beauty keeps me going, to see tomorrow, to see another day, to see everyday, and to eventually see you. Oh God My God you created beauty in its magnificence, and you never demand anything in return, only ask to return our love by loving. The Penalties
A beautiful loss
is still a loss,
a beautiful mistake
is still beautiful.
It is the rules of the room
that still define you,
it is the things that we do on our own
that betray you.
From the council estate
to the London art squats
that fill in the textual background ~

like a ghost or a girlfriend,
