Behold a republic standing erect while empires all around are bowed beneath the weight of their own armaments - a republic whose flag is loved while other flags are only feared.

Allegiance

From the very beginning,
Their scheme was a hoax.
And those who did not pledge to it...
Were harrassed and provoked.

And through the years,
This 'republic' still stands...
With little of its integrity left.
And liars still in command.

And the flag that represents,
This symbolic mock of democracy.
Unites only those whose eyes are shut closed.
With beliefs they uphold something of value,
That exists.

But those who are thieves...
Have only used the image of it,
To oppress and steal...
And harness a fulfillment,
Of their greediness.

'How can you say that about this fine democracy? '

Trust me...
I am very loyal 'and' patriotic,
With an allegiance to a flag pledged.
I know I've stated my allegiance
Has been to a republic.
But is this 'dichotomy' a democracy...
To which my devotion has been applied!
Or 'who' exactly benefits from my conformity?
And which group of liars,
Should my efforts really criticize?
I don't want to let none of my 'hoodwinkitis'
To go to waste just to be left bamboozled!

The Plain Citizen Of The Republic

the government for sure
cannot survive without you plain citizen

you are taxed
that is the most certain thing that happens in your life
as plain citizen
of this republic

the property that you own
is subject to confiscation

from womb to tomb
you, plain citizen is bound with a lot of other
responsibilities

you make them rich
and give them power
you let them stay for more
than expected and they all laugh
like mad men

you do not make a stir
on the fold
the law chases you just in case
and the prison cell is crowded

so plain citizen of the republic
be good
lick them
as they suck you
pamper them
as they spare you

plain citizen you sell your right to be king
in this republic
now you sit there
and you will be next!

The King of our Republic

He is coming! He is coming! without heralds, without cheers.
He is coming! He is coming! and he’s been with us for years:
And, if you should pause to wonder who’s the man of whom I sing—
’Tis the King of our Republic, and the man we shall call King.
No, he comes not to amuse us, and he comes not to explain,
With the bathos of the old things over all the land again.
The debatable and tangled, and the vain imagining
Shall be swept out of our pathway by the man that we’ll call King.

He is coming! He is coming! He has heard our spirit call;
He’ll be greatest man since Cromwell in the English nations all,
And he’ll take his place amongst us while the rest are wondering—
Shall the King of our Republic, and the man we will call King.

If you find him stern, unyielding, where his living task is set,
I have told you that a tyrant shall uplift the nation yet;
He will place his country’s welfare over all and everything,
Shall the King of our Republic, and the man that we’ll call King.

Yet his heart shall still be gentle with his brothers gone astray,
For the Great Man of Australia shall be simple in his day—
Modest, kindly, but unyielding, while the watching world shall ring
With the name of our Republic and the man that we call King.

Two Flags

Some people are born under two flags.
Their parents are of two countries
and this is the situation of me.
I live under one flag,
but wish I lived under the other.
For a while, I lived under the other flag
and felt the world belong to me.
Now I live under the one flag
and everything seems to be taken from me.
Those who inspire my life
live under the other flag.
While the ones whose flag I live under
fail to recognise the potential within me.
It is a dilemma I face everyday,
whether to go or to stay.
However I am not the only one,
there must be many more just like me
who live under two flags
and wish they lived under the one farthest away.

Edgar Lee Masters

Jacob Goodpasture

When Fort Sumter fell and the war came
I cried out in bitterness of soul:
"O glorious republic now no more!"
When they buried my soldier son
To the call of trumpets and the sound of drums
My heart broke beneath the weight
Of eighty years, and I cried:
"Oh, son who died in a cause unjust!
In the strife of Freedom slain!"
And I crept here under the grass.
And now from the battlements of time, behold:
Thrice thirty million souls being bound together
In the love of larger truth,
Rapt in the expectation of the birth
Of a new Beauty,
Sprung from Brotherhood and Wisdom.
I with eyes of spirit see the Transfiguration
Before you see it.
But ye infinite brood of golden eagles nesting ever higher,
Wheeling ever higher, the sun-light wooing
Of lofty places of Thought,
Forgive the blindness of the departed owl.

The Falling Of Thrones

Above the din of commerce, above the clamor and rattle
Of labor disputing with riches, of Anarchists' threats and groans,
Above the hurry and hustle and roar of that bloodless battle,
Where men are fighting for riches. I hear the falling of thrones.

I see no savage host, I hear no martial drumming,
But down in the dust at our feet lie the useless crowns of kings;
And the mighty spirit of Progress is steadily coming, coming,
And the flag of one republic abroad to the world he flings.

The Universal Republic, where worth, not birth, is royal;
Where the lowliest born may climb on a self-made ladder to fame;
Where the highest and proudest born, if he be not true and loyal,
Shall find no masking title to cover and gild his shame.

Not with the bellow of guns and not with sabres whetting,
But with growing minds of men is waged this swordless fray;
While over the dim horizon the sun of royalty, setting,
Lights, with a dying splendor, the humblest toiler's way.

Your Flag Decal Won't Get You Into Heaven Anymore

While digesting reader's digest
In the back of a dirty book store,
A plastic flag, with gum on the back,
Fell out on the floor.
Well, i picked it up and i ran outside
Slapped on my window shield,
And if i could see old betsy ross
I tell her how good i feel.
Chorus:
But your flag decal won't get you
Into heaven any more.
They're already overcrowded
From your dirty little war.
Now jesus don't like killin'
No matter what the reason's for,
And your flag decal won't get you
Into heaven any more.
Well, i went to the bank this morning
And the cashier he said to me,
"if you join the christmas club
We'll give you ten of them flags for free."
Well, i didn't mess around a bit
I took her up on what he said.
And i stuck them stickers all over my car
And one on my wife's forehead.
Repeat chorus:
Well, i got my window shield so filled
With flags i couldn't see.
So, i ran the car upside a curb
And right into a tree.
By the time they got a doctor down
I was already dead.
And i'll never understand why the man
Standing in the pearly gates said...
But your flag decal won't get you
Into heaven any more.
We're already overcrowded
From your dirty little war.
Now jesus don't like killin'
No matter what the reason's for,
And your flag decal won't get you
Into heaven any more.

Let's Just Drop the Subject!

We pledge an allegiance to a flag.
And to a 'republic' for which it stands.
With liberty and justice for all!

'Hey...
It's like those blue dogs,
Fighting with right winged conservatives.
Or those of third party inclinations,
Who say they are neither democrat or republican.
And the federal reserve created by the Rothchilds...
Controlling every dime every where on Earth! '

Those are unpatriotic statements!
Delivered from the lips...
Of a nonconformist militant.

'Oh please!
I guess the next thing you will say,
Is that our cherished democracy is a socialistic movement.
That threatens our way of life?
Although we pledge ourselves today,
To an understanding that a sovereign state...
Ruled by representatives of a widely inclusive electorate.
And the term republic...
Formerly denoted a form of government,
That was both free from hereditary or monarchical rule? '

WHY are you attempting to be specific,
When propaganda has been our ideal way of life?
What has been documented has already been determined to be flawed.
And what is the problem with a bit of fantasizing?

'We must protect 'our' interests!
Whatever they are.
Or 'today' may be!
Folks are beginning to become alarmed,
By the fact that our president may not be a nationalized citizen.
And once every year...
People spend millions decorating their homes,
Streets and businesses on Christmas!
Waiting for Santa Claus to arrive.
And nowhere in the Bible is this man mentioned! '

We pledge an allegiance to a flag.
And fantasies of all kinds.
So what is the big deal?
This has nothing to do with honesty and truth.
That's why we have laws!

'Geeesssshh!
Let's just dropp the subject!
I'm already feeling violated.'

Is that mentally?
Or physically?

Why are you looking at me like that?

I think we're at a time in American history that's probably analogous to, maybe, Rome before the first emperors, when the Republic started to fall … I think if you look at the pattern of events, if you look at the disputed election of 2000, can you imagine? In America, people are trying to recount ballots and a partisan mob is pounding on the glass and threatening the counters? Can you imagine that? Can you imagine a political party which does its best to keep any representatives from another party — who've even been affiliated with another party — from getting a business job in the nation's capital? Can you imagine a political party that wants to redistrict so that its
opponents can be driven out entirely? … it's a different time in America and the Republic is — this election is about a lot more than jobs. I'm not sure everybody in America sees it right now. But I see it, I feel it.

Thick-Sprinkled Bunting

THICK-SPRINKLED bunting! Flag of stars!
Long yet your road, fateful flag!--long yet your road, and lined with
bloody death!
For the prize I see at issue, at last is the world!
All its ships and shores I see, interwoven with your threads, greedy
banner!
--Dream'd again the flags of kings, highest born, to flaunt
unrival'd?
O hasten, flag of man! O with sure and steady step, passing highest
flags of kings,
Walk supreme to the heavens, mighty symbol--run up above them all,
Flag of stars! thick-sprinkled bunting!

Revolution of Dominican Republic

On April 24,1965
the Revolution for Dominican Republic was alive.
President Donal J Read Cabral was forced out
president Garcia Godoy came with a shout.
Leader of Revolution was Francisco Alberto Caamano
he was great—but they had to use ammo.
Cousin Renee was born on island that same year
she had to get on ship while war was near.
I wasn't born till '66'
I was up north giving my mom happiness.
Amazingly still on that day eventful day in '65'
my cousin and aunt made it safely, blessed and alright-
and the Dominican Republic will never be the same
mostly Americans live there now for things have changed.

When the Irish Flag Went By

’Twas Eight-Hour Day, and proudly
Old Labour led the way;
The drums were bearing loudly,
The crowded streets were gay;
But something touched my heart like pain,
I could not check the sigh
That rose within my bosom when
The Irish Flag went by.

Bright flags were raised about it
And one of them my own:
And patriots trod beneath it—
But it seemed all alone.
I thought of ruined Ireland
While crystals from the sky
Fell soft like tears by angels shed,
As the Irish Flag went by.

I love the dark green standard
As Irish patriots do;
It waves above the rebels,
And I’m a rebel too,
I thought of Ireland’s darkest years,
Her griefs that follow fast;
For drooping as ’twere drenched with tears
The Irish Flag went past.

And though ’twas not in Erin
That my forefathers trod;
And though my wandering footsteps
Ne’er pressed the “dear old sod”,
I felt the wrongs the Irish feel
Beneath the northern sky.
And felt the rebel in my heart
When the Irish Flag went by.

I tell you, men of England,
Who rule the land by might;
I tell you, Irish traitors
Who sell the sons of light,
The tyranny shall fail at last,
That changeful days are nigh;
And you shall dip your red flag yet,
When the Irish Flag goes by.
