For the kind of thing that we were showing, the budget was sufficient. As we were speaking of in Haiti, we had not done that before in exactly this form and we had to have costumes for it.

But I think it's very key that there's a plan for Haiti. And we have to begin to - as progressives and people who are concerned about Haiti and have been concerned about Haiti, we have to begin to build some sort of consensus, a movement around the Haiti that the Haitians envision.

January 2010 Haiti
How sad for Port-au-Prince
~~ The Capital of Haiti ~~
A repeat of the destruction
Which took place back in
The eighteenth century
When two similar quakes
Took their toll on Haiti.
We've seen frightening scenes
On today's television screens
And the whole world will say
An impassioned prayer to help
Haiti overcome the despair.

Skids Into A Fizz
The budget?
The budget as it is,
Has skidded into a fizz.
No one chooses to say 'flop'...
Hoping that a plot is schemed,
To return smiling and gleaming grins again...
To those so close to giving up.
The budget?
The budget as it is,
Has skidded into a fizz.
With a 'don't-plop-me-down-now-thud'!
And added fuss and frustration.
The budget?
We monthy cuss that budget.
That budget...
Has us all caught up in corruptness.
And feuding over turf outsourced and sold.
Long ago.
The budget?
Skids into a fizz.
And folks with lips poked...
Still want to feel,
They can pop...
More champagne.
The budget?
Skids into a fizz.
And folks with lips poked...
Still want to feel,
They can pop...
More champagne.

Just trying to get a film made which is always difficult no matter what kind of a budget you have. Not having a budget makes it even more difficult. Having nineteen days and no budget makes it extremely difficult.

Low Budget
Cheap is small and not too steep
But best of all cheap is cheap
Circumstance has forced my hand
To be a cut price person in a low budget land
Times are hard but well all survive
I just got to learn to economize
Im on a low budget
Im on a low budget
Im not cheap, you understand
Im just a cut price person in a low budget land
Excuse my shoes they dont quite fit
Theyre a special offer and they hurt me a bit
Even my trousers are giving me pain
They were reduced in a sale so I shouldnt complain
They squeeze me so tight so I cant take no more
Theyre size 28 but I take 34
Im on a low budget
What did you say
Im on a low budget
I thought you said that
Im on a low budget
Im a cut price person in a low budget land
Im shopping at woolworth and low discount stores
Im dropping my standards so that I can buy more
[quality costs, but quality wastes,
So Im giving up all of my expensive tastes.
Caviar and champagne are definite nos,
Im acquiring a taste for brown ale and cod roes ]
Low budget sure keeps me on my toes
I count every penny and I watch where it goes
Were all on our uppers were all going skint
I used to smoke cigars but now I suck polo mints
Im on a low budget
What did you say
Yea Im on a low budget
I thought you said that
Im on a low budget
Im a cut price person in a low budget land
Im on a low budget
Low budget
Low budget
Art takes time, time is money
Moneys scarce and that aint funny
Millionaires are things of the past
Were in a low budget film where nothing can last
Moneys rare theres none to be found
So dont think Im tight if I dont buy a round
Im on a low budget
What did you say
Yes Im on a low budget
I thought you said that
Im on a low budget
Im a cut price person in a low budget land
Im on a low budget
Say it again
Low budget
One more time
Low budget
[i look like a tramp, but dont write me off,
Ill have you all know, I was once a tough
At least my hair is all mine, my teeth are my own,
But everything else is on permanent loan.
Once all my clothes were made by hand,
Now Im a cut price person in a low budget land.
Im on a low budget
Ill have you all know
Were on a low budget
Im on a low budget]

For Haiti I Cry
My heart like a desert
My tears like a river
Shifting sands of sadness
My whole body shivers
I am sick with suffering
I am pregnant with pain
My ruptured heart bleeds
From my eyes flow the rain
Lachrymose! Lachrymose!
Haiti I weep for thee
Your sons and daughters
Have suffered tragic misery
I bawl! Don't ask me why!
For Haiti! For Haiti I cry!

Budget Is Here With You
Do not worry
This budget is here to bury.
And he is cruel
To be kind
And budget is painful
And good.
Worry not to pay more
You are only to die more.

Haiti....
Haiti! I see your never ending sufferings
I thought I was robbed of happiness but,
in comparison to your pain
I am no where in shape or form to complain
Your beauty and youthfulness has been robbed
robbed and raped by many mercenaries over the years
In the form of coups and sometime aid, but
nothing will you ever gain
Even the nature has no shame,
keep on giving you more and more suffering and pain
corrupt rulers, poverty, earthquakes, and sometime devastating Hurricanes
Listen, help is on the way...Soldiers are coming
here comes the soldiers of greed
to rob and steal your motherhood and take away your children
and to convert them into brainless stooges and lifeless robots,
to serve their lord of no mercy,
Destroy their innocence and make them fight against others,
Soldiers of God.
You Haiti, lay there wounded and can’t do anything,
Your children are sad, pained, and hungry,
and this goddamn world with no shame, yet we are all so lame
let it happen everyday, everywhere
‘Cause Haiti is just a name for everyone's pain
let motherlands lose their loved ones to shameless wars, poverty, and hunger
where children have to join them or move and migrate forever
get blamed that they are wild beasts, and they say
These people have been fighting with each other forever,
uncivilized, animals, self hating criminals
But you ask these Gods of morals,
How did they come to this point?
What capitals, militaries, politicians who control their
destinies, got them to this quarrel?
You do know them, yes you do
Alas, I see Haiti everywhere
Afghanistan, Somalia, Iraq, Sudan and many more
hunger, poverty, greed, and pain is the same affair.

I Wouldnt Normally Do This Kind Of Thing
Ask me why
Ill say its most unusual
How can I even try to explain
Why today, I feel like dancing
Singing like lovers sing
When I wouldnt normally do this kind of thing
I wouldnt normally do this kind of thing
Ask me when
Ill say it started when I met you
And ever since then
I knew that the past wouldnt last
For right now I think Im running
A race I know Im gonna win
And I wouldnt normally do this kind of thing
I wouldnt normally do this kind of thing
If people say Im crazy
I tell 'em that it's true
I let them watch with amazement
Say it wont last beyond breakfast
Its just a phase hes going through
Denigrate or speculate
On what Im going through
Because it isnt the sort of thing Id normally do
Ask me what
Ill say I think its good for you
Believe it or not
I know where its all leading to
I feel like taking all my clothes off
And dancing to the rite of spring
And I wouldnt normally do this kind of thing
I wouldnt normally do this kind of thing
I wouldnt normally do this kind of
This kind of thing

It Aint No Big Thing
It ain't no big thing
A & n merrit/hall
You're losing interest in me, and it's showing.
It ain't not big thing but it's growing.
The pain of heartbreak i've just starting knowing.
It ain't not big thing but it's growing.
Everyday the hurt grows bigger than before.
But i'll pretend that i don't notice,
If i can hold you one day more.
You got the look of someone who is going.
You're gonna leave me and it's showing.
A little tear i can feel, start to flowing.
It ain't not big thing but it's growing.
You got the look of someone who is going.
You're gonna leave me and it's showing.
A little tear i can feel, start to flowing.
It ain't not big thing but it's growing.
It ain't not big thing but it's growing.

Island Fever
Island fever
I think Ive got a touch of island fever
I do believe I feel a bit sauteed
This morning I was just some nonbeliever
Tonight I feel Ive joing a wild crusade
I never thought of life as being breezy
I never thought of time as time to play
I never thought that I could take it easy
But all those feelings changed for me today
Layers and layers of spices and flavors
Are finding their way to my brain
Layers and layers of costumes and players
That make my whole life look insane
Palm trees and views I cant believe
Why would I ever want to leave?
I think Ill take my shoes off and go walking
Down beside the caribbean sea.
I like the funny sounds of parrots squawking
I think I hear a hammock calling me.
Layers and layers of spices and flavors
Could this be some kind of charade?
Layers and layers of costumes and players
I think I will join the parade
Layers and layers of spices and flavors
Could this be some kind of charade?
Layers and layers of costumes and players
I think I will join the parade
I think Ive got a touch of island fever...

Halloween
Halloween was getting near-she didn’t know
What her children would wear.
So many costumes- so many super hero s
She could dress her daughter as Cleo
And her son as Nero.
Maybe as cat woman and batman
That sounds like a perfect plan.
Well! Halloween shops here I come
I won’t have peace until they’re done.
As shoppers- we know that the malls can be tough
Five hours of shopping is just not enough.
They finally find the costumes they seek
What it costs- is my paycheck for a week.
The cost of costumes have gotten out of hand
I think we parents should take a stand.
What’s happened to those days when children
Used to say: “trick or treat, something sweet
Anything for Halloween.”
And parents used to make the costumes
For them to wear- and the toys
And gifts, the children would share.
Life was so much simpler then
When on each corner you’d find a friend.
Now it has become so commercialized
That parents no longer try
To go back to the days of old
When costumes were made and not sold.
Witches and goblins, black cats and such
Frankenstein and the mummy had quite a touch.
These were things that a parent could do
But times have changed, so it’s up to you.

Haiti itself was also photographed, some of the streets, some of the mountains, rivers, streams, etc. were photographed before talking with me about how I felt about Haiti. Then the camera went to our voodoo temple and saw a serious ceremony, a real ceremony.

I hate the terminology of ""costume"" because my clothes are not costumes at all. I think they're high fashion, avant-garde, and more couture, definitely, and yes, some of my pieces are not particularly wearable, but I wouldn't say they're costumes, I'd say they're more couture.
