Sitting Too High on Horse
Of course,
I will keep my expectations and aspirations high.
And I hope my ambitions to outdo myself,
Will not be interpreted by others...
As one who seems to carry,
Their aspirations on their shoulders.
Or expectations sitting too high on that horse.

The Bar Has Been Raised Much Too High
There is a standard set,
In the best of an idealistic premise...
To keep as a measure,
That checks one's advancement.
But expectations lowered,
Will eventually affect...
Those once kept high standards.
Slipping to catch the absence of discipline.
And with a mediocrity achieved...
To come alter the notion of ambition,
A proclamation introduce will claim...
The bar has been raised much too high.
Especially for those...
Seeking their need for attention,
And remedial assistance.
With no guarantee for achievement.
'The bar...
It has been raised again,
And much too high!
It must be lowered.
It must be lowered.
Please follow intructions to lower,
Expectations.'
'The bar...
It has been raised again,
And much too high!
It must be lowered.
It must be lowered.
Please follow intructions to lower,
Expectations.'
This is declared from a robotic voice,
Programmed to monitor classroon activities.

Great Expectations
Youre sittin in your seat
And then you stand and clutch your breast
Our music drives you wild along with the rest
You watch me singing this song
You see what my mouth can do
And you wish you were the one I was doing it to
And you watch me playin guitar
And you feel what my fingers can do
And you wish you were the one I was doing it to
Well, listen
Youve got great expectations
Youve got great expectations
Youre dying to be seen
And you wave and call my name
But in the day it seems that Im a million miles away
You watch me beatin my drum
And you know what my hands can do
And you wish you were the one I was doing it to
Well, listen
Youve got great expectations
Youve got great expectations
Youve got great expectations
Then you feels these eyes from the stage
And you see me staring at you
And you hear between the lines, my voice is calling to you
Well, listen
Youve got great expectations
Youve got great expectations
Youve got great expectations, do you want to play the role
Youve got great expectations, youd even sell me your soul
Youve got great expectations
Youve got great expectations
Youve got great expectations, do you want to play the role
Youve got great expectations, youd even sell me your soul
Youve got great expectations, as long as you can play the role
Youve got great expectations

Reputation is fine but you have to keep justifying it. In a sense, it makes it harder because people's expectations of you are higher. So, you have to fulfill those expectations. Or, try to exceed those expectations. But, it becomes more difficult as time goes on.

The Expense Of Being Selective
It's not that I am negative.
It just seems too exhausting,
To have high expectations...
When those choices are diminished,
Within one's environment.
And the expense of being selective...
Is difficult if one is on a fixed income.
And so tiresome it becomes,
To have meaningless conversations...
With those who have chosen,
To stay mentally limited.
And threatened they are by anyone,
Who possesses a thought process.
It's not that I am negative.
It just seems too exhausting,
To have high expectations...
When those choices are diminished,
Within one's environment.
And a stretching of an imagination,
A painful undertaking whenever it is done.

Great Expectations
(eric carmen)
Seems everyday
Im gettin harder pressed
To find a reason to shave
Watchin the hours
Just slippin away
No motivation to get out of bed
And carry on the charade
Caught in a dream thats goin astray
Oh, all those great expectations
Seems they never work out, never work out
The way that I plan
All those great expectations
Why they never work out, never work out
I cant understand
And just when I think
That things are goin right
I get a call from l.a.
Sorry to say were changin your song
I try to reason
But I cant get through
Theyre gonna do it their way
What can I say
Theyve never been wrong
Oh, all those great expectations
Seems they never work out, never work out
The way that I plan
All those great expectations
Why they never work out, never work out
I cant understand
Life is just a game of chance
I think somebody said so
Sometimes you get a hula hoop
Sometimes you get an edsel
Oh, all those great expectations
Seems they never work out, never work out
The way that I plan
All those great expectations
Why they never work out, never work out
I cant understand

Expectations
Now all the lies are beginning to show,
And youre not the country that I used to know.
I loved you once from my head to my toe,
But now my belief is shaken.
And all your ways are so untrue,
No one breaks promises the way that you do.
You guided me, I trusted you,
But now my illusions shaken.
Thought this empire would be here
At least a thousand years.
But all the expectations and aspirations,
Slowly disappear.
Now all the lies have gone on too long,
And a million apologies cant right the wrong.
Soldiers die but the lies go on,
But soon we will awaken.
In our expectations for the future,
We were not to know.
We had expectations, now weve reached
As far as we can go.
And all your manners are too, too polite,
Just to prove that your conscious is white and bright.
You had your day so get ready for the night,
For another dawn is breaking.
We had expectations, now weve reached
As far as we can go.

That Is All That Matters
I don't have expectations to be loved.
I don't dwell on the reception of it!
I have have it.
I give it.
And it is there to share.
I don't have expectations to be loved.
I do expect to be respected.
I don't accept disrespect at all.
That is one thing,
I don't have.
To give.
And it is not here as a thought either.
I don't have expectations to be loved.
If it is returned as it is given...
That's it.
I have no other preferences,
With requirements.
Nor do I sit,
To question love one bit!
I know it!
And that is all that matters!
With or without,
Someone to share it with.
It will be there...
Inside and recognized!

Beauty-Eyed
We are trapped
Beauty Eyed
in beholder's
gaze,
expectations flush
iron icons
bind us;
Do not move
or blink;
a tiny shift
and beholder's view
is at once awry;
now disappointment,
because aspect new
has changed the view;
in a strobe shot
we are all caught
in expectations light,
flicker or blink
as we must
and we ruin
beholder's dream,
and pay double price
at the bar
where Bitter Drought
drinks.
What nostrums
and remedies,
what drunk variations
from Expectations Cup
dash Hope to fiery Death
unnoticed:
Expectations yours
but unmatched by mine:
signal we two then choke
most times
in the In-Between.

I hate those who fail to stand
To my expectations.
The cause is in me not in them.
I must curtail my expectations.
