What sense would it make or what would it benfit a physician if he discovered the origin of the diseases but could not cure or alleviate them?

The Good Physician
How lost was my condition
Till Jesus made me whole!
There is but one Physician
Can cure a sin-sick soul.
Next door to death he found me,
And snatched me from the grave,
To tell to all around me,
His wondrous pow'r to save.
The worst of all diseases
Is light, compared with sin;
On every part it seizes,
But rages most within:
'Tis palsy, plague, and fever,
And madness -- all combined;
And none but a believer
The least relief can find.
From men great skill professing
I thought a cure to gain;
But this proved more distressing,
And added to my pain:
Some said that nothing ailed me,
Some gave me up for lost;
Thus every refuge failed me,
And all my hopes were crossed.
At length this great Physician,
How matchless is his grace!
Accepted my petition,
And undertook my case:
First gave me sight to view him,
For sin my eyes had sealed;
Then bid me look unto him,
I looked, and I was healed.
A dying, risen Jesus,
Seen by the eye of faith;
At once from danger frees us,
And saves the soul from death:
Come then to this Physician,
His help he'll freely give;
He makes no hard condition,
'Tis only -- look and live.

Sonnet: On Medical Practice
The Diagnosis of diseases is prime!
Listen, see, feel and treat patient with care;
For life or death depends on precious time,
And cure in the true sense is rather rare.
And Therapeusis is both art and science;
Know ill-effects of drugs before you give;
Act per the Ethics, also Conscience;
Weigh benefits to risks; let patient live!
The Prognosis is important to all!
All complications must be expected;
Let Nature take the lives she wants to call;
The right to die is to be respected.
O Physician, thine job is most sacred!
Know well the living from the nearly-dead.

I'm involved in Project ALS which is trying to get money for stem cell research. That's one I've been pretty involved with because if you can cure that, you can cure so many other diseases.

Even an accomplished physician cannot cure himself.
There is no physician who can cure the disease of love.
Origin of Your Misconceptions
You don't have to tell me,
The origin of your misconceptions.
I too had been victimized,
By unflattering indignities.
Until I awakened to realize,
I had been giving that too much of my time.
And my needs and objectives,
Became harder for me to define.
And with that intention meant...
Kept me temporarily from using my mind.
Until I discovered a strength within,
That kept my purpose focused.
With a wish to fly higher, soar and climb.
You don't have to tell me,
The origin of your misconceptions.
My wings have been plucked, burned and clipped.
But I've kept my eyes dried to ensure my clear vision.

Noticed Without Mistake
When a headache begins,
And it is noticed...
Without mistake,
With a pinpointing to the origin.
Know now you do what and who,
Initiated that headache.
With an acknowledgement discovered,
You can refuse the invitation for your own sake.
And closer too are those steps you make...
To identifying the life you wish.
And that which to dismiss,
From your happiness kept to keep as is.
There is nothing like stopping,
A whine that begins...
On time you once gave,
You no longer give.
Know now you do what and who,
Initiated that headache.
With an acknowledgement discovered,
You can refuse the invitation for your own sake.

Medicine can only cure curable diseases, and then not always.
To Divide Them
Has the advancements made in technology,
Increased the intelligence of human beings?
Has the rising cost of college education,
Awarded anyone a credit towards common sense?
Has the expense of raising children,
From books printed to show how that is done...
Proven to anyone to be successful?
And...
Have those who chose to isolate others,
To divide them and conquer...
Feel any less ostacized themselves?
Has the cure of diseases,
Prevented the spreading...
Of more of them to occur?

Doctors pour drugs of which they know little, to cure diseases of which they know less, into patients of whom they know nothing.

Doctors are men who prescribe medicines of which they know little, to cure diseases of which they know less in human beings of whom they know nothing.
A physician who worked at McGill
on a Monday, mid-morning, fell ill.
They discovered a lack

for good measure they gave him a pill.

Christe
Sexually transimitted diseases,
Of the diseases thart had led us to bury many who were deceased;
Yes, deceases from the diseases! !
And like the victims of sexual abuse;
But i am Christe in the land of your muse!
So, try to be well educated on this issue at hand.

The Poet as a Feeler of Pain
What makes a poet?
Many have tried to guess.
Is it a voice
like a conduit,
a plainspokenness to grief,
the hairs of the head
dancing on end,
the blood swarming
with the voices
of all those who have died,
will die,
& will also be born?
Is it a catch
in the throat
that awakens the eyes,
is it in the eyes themselves
or is it something
in the heart?
I think it is pain-
an openness to pain,
so that the least leaf
cuts the hand
& the smallest tear
cuts the cheek
like jagged crystal,
so that the world
is a sick infant
& the poet its mother,
praying, crooning, promising
to be good
if only the cure
takes.
There is, of course,
no cure.
Poetry does not cure
the poet
& the poet
does not cure the world.
Usually he catches
the world's diseases
& dies
even before his time.
But against all odds
& all indifference,
another one is born.
The world must have
someone to feel its pain
& speak of it.
The poet is that mouth.
