Though the bribe be small, yet the fault is great.

I have often noticed that a bribe has that effect - it changes a relation. The man who offers a bribe gives away a little of his own importance; the bribe once accepted, he becomes the inferior, like a man who has paid for a woman.

Scam Lost Its Stigma
The bribe was once given
To lure one to fault.
Now it is demanded
Even to work to the rule.
Bribery turned into scams.
Scam has lost its stigma.

Pride it’s all your fault people have no love
Pride it’s all your fault are so jealous of each other
Pride it’s all your fault people are so lost
Pride it’s all your fault dying from this horrible diseases
Pride it’s all your fault we have so many orphans
Pride it’s all your fault people are betraying each other
Pride it’s all your fault are dying of hunger
Pride it’s all your fault fathers are sleeping with their children
Pride it’s all your fault people are so heartless
Pride it’s all your fault there is no peace, unity and harmony in this world
Pride it’s all your fault we have all this sorrow
Pride it’s all your fault God has rejected us
Pride it’s all your fault people are so evil
And they have decided to be in love with evil rather than good
You have ruined this world
You are to blame for all this misery
If lucifer did not have pride in his heart we wouldn’t be in this mess
Pride it all your fault! ! !

Still I Marvel
still I marvel
at the chorus line
all those diverse choirs
different cultures
languages peoples
singing the same old songs
these great men
great women
so proud
so quick
to sing own praises
expressions
of admiration
in self worship
look here look there
at amazing monuments
I made I created I I I
I the great autocrat
ruler with absolute
authority incarnate
no place within my rule
to share glory with God
give thanks to eternal God
watch autocrats
crow then crawl
raised high cast low
singing the same old songs
behold my great works my marvels
all this I the great bla bla achieved
the great bla bla basked
in all the glory when all went well
suddenly when events conspire
to rock topple idolatry throne
all problems were fault of scapegoat
fault of religion fault of God
why blame God
when never his commandments
were followed?

The populations of Central America are very, very small indeed, so that while no one was denying and this was one of the great debates we used to have, whose fault was it that there were communists were able to do so well down there, well, that wasn't the point.

It's My Fault
Everything is my fault
I am guilty for everything
Even for loving you
Which of course was a bad thing
You broke my heart
Not only with one girl but three girls
It's my fault
I am not everything you want and need
It's my fault
I can't be like her
I am sorry
It's My fault

No Fault In Women
No fault in women, to refuse
The offer which they most would chuse.
--No fault: in women, to confess
How tedious they are in their dress;
--No fault in women, to lay on
The tincture of vermilion;
And there to give the cheek a dye
Of white, where Nature doth deny.
--No fault in women, to make show
Of largeness, when they're nothing so;
When, true it is, the outside swells
With inward buckram, little else.
--No fault in women, though they be
But seldom from suspicion free;
--No fault in womankind at all,
If they but slip, and never fall.

No, it is Not your Fault.
Poem Title: No, It is not your Fault. Acrostic Poem 153
No, it is not your fault!
Oh how many times must I say this, it is not your fault.
It is not your fault, from now on I want you to believe it, it is not your fault.
Try always and forever from this time on to master the fact that it is not your fault.
It is not your fault, Nobody is to blame, no thing, no way, no how, it is not your fault.
Since childhood have you not continually taken the blame upon yourself, It was not your fault.
Never wishing to cast doubt upon what a wonderful person you are, It is not your fault.
Out side of the love of friends and family are you seen as just a number, No, it's not your fault.
They may never get close enough to see the light you radiate, No, it is not your fault
Yesterday, troubles, debt, sorrow, disappointment, failure dogged your step, It was not your fault.
Over years, with hindsight your advantage, do you now see the illuminated sign on every corner?
Understanding dawns at last, Understanding all and everything gone before, was not your fault.
Redemption now at hand, you are at the gateway all your skills intact, you are loved with all faults.
Faults have given you a tool bag filled with wisdom, mistakes having been made rectified always.
All ways, All roads, All pathways trod, All modes explored, All embarrassments suffered, never at fault
Unless you count on all you meet as being with all faults, help them then aboard faults and all.
Light their hearts with your love and forgiveness despite the faults, will erase the faults you own.
That fault you thought you had was just my way of Guiding Angels through the maze Alone.

After Working Sixty Hours Again for What Reason
The best job I had was moving a stone
from one side of the road to the other.
This required a permit which required
a bribe. The bribe took all my salary.
Yet because I hadn’t finished the job
I had no salary, and to pay the bribe
I took a job moving the stone
the other way. Because the official
wanted his bribe, he gave me a permit
for the second job. When I pointed out
that the work would be best completed
if I did nothing, he complimented
my brain and wrote a letter
to my employer suggesting promotion
on stationery bearing the wings
of a raptor spread in flight
over a mountain smaller than the bird.
My boss, fearing my intelligence,
paid me to sleep on the sofa
and take lunch with the official
who required a bribe to keep anything
from being done. When I told my parents,
they wrote my brother to come home
from university to be slapped
on the back of the head. Dutifully,
he arrived and bowed to receive
his instruction, at which point
sense entered his body and he asked
what I could do by way of a job.
I pointed out there were stones
everywhere trying not to move,
all it took was a little gumption
to be the man who didn’t move them.
It was harder to explain the intricacies
of not obtaining a permit to not
do this. Just yesterday he got up
at dawn and shaved, as if the lack
of hair on his face has anything
to do with the appearance of food
on an empty table.
Roman Sentry
A soldier's curse is not the copper pay,
stationed here in this gods-forsaken place!
I'd bribe a centurion to leave today.
Anywhere! —lug my shield on the Appian Way
or guard the quarry slaves in rocky Thrace.
A soldier's curse is not the copper pay.
The land is weary, fit for thorns and clay.
The towns are crowded with a bearded race.
I'd bribe a centurion to leave today.
This hill is bald as a skull, cold and gray,
—and I left my woolen tunic back at base!
A soldier's curse is not the copper pay.
Sentry for rebels crucified today—
last year in Rome I won a chariot-race!
I'd bribe a centurion to leave today.
This one I know: I heard the governor say
'Ecce homo! ' (I don't forget a face.)
A soldier's curse is not the copper pay.
I'd bribe a centurion to leave today.

Fear Is Not A Fault
Fear is not a fault
There's no need to lay blame
Fear is not a fault
Though it can kill and maim
Fear is not a fault
And can be overcome
Fear is not a fault
Though it's usually not much fun
Fear can tighten around and around
Your mind needs to be gently unwound
All the wrinkles and knots smoothed away
To make for a much more enjoyable day

Now More Than Ever Needed
Anything to fault,
Will do great things...
For those insecure.
Those who wish,
To 'dish' and sting.
Anything against,
A forward movement done.
Anything to focus,
On the personal life lived...
By someone.
Indecisive and unsure.
Argumentitive with negativity,
That lures.
And then they come to criticize,
Any good deed done by anyone...
Just to mention it is despised.
Anything to fault,
Will do great things...
For those insecure.
Those who wish,
To 'dish' and sting.
Making others realize...
Their presence produces,
Not one thing...
To bring upon the environment,
A sense of togetherness...
Now more than ever needed!

Happenings
it wasnt my fault
i tried to resist but he didnt stop
and i do cry
its so hard
what could i do?
he was bigger then me
im small and couldnt push him off
i told him to stop but it didnt work
he got to hot and stopped
i had a smoke then left
as i walked home
all i could think about was what happened
it wasnt my fault
im a tiney little girl
and he was a strong man
i couldnt stop him
im not that strong
i told him no
i pushed myself away
i tried to escape but
it was no use
walking home was hard
try to understand it wasnt my fault

In Between
A man is born and he dies
what he does in between is where it lies,
he can be great or very small,
if he is great, he will stand tall,
if he is small, it won't matter at all.
Answers
I kept my answers small and kept them near;
Big questions bruised my mind but still I let
Small answers be a bullwark to my fear.
The huge abstractions I kept from the light;
Small things I handled and caressed and loved.
I let the stars assume the whole of night.
But the big answers clamoured to be moved Into my life. Their great audacity
Shouted to be acknowledged and believed.
Even when all small answers build up to
Protection of my spirit, still I hear
Big answers striving for their overthrow.
And all the great conclusions coming near.

My fault
A scratch.
A pinch.
A scrape.
A cut.
A turned up feeling,
In my gut.
The pain.
The horror.
The sadness.
The sickness.
Inside all this,
Scumness.
Useless.
Unbearable.
N aughty.
Mean.
All the things I feel,
Are obscene.
Dangerous.
Stupid.
Manipula tive.
Psychotic.
Any mental illness there is,
I'm quite sure I got it.
Bleeding.
Crying.
Blaming.
Up set.
Over all the things,
I sure can't forget.
My fault.
My fault.
My fault.
My fault.
I open my eyes,
'Is it over yet? '

To That Guy Towards the Back of the Class, He'll Know Who I Mean
Yes you,
the one who’s noisy when
he’s here which isn’t so very often -
you’ll never believe it but
I know you better than you’ll ever know…
oh yes I do and
maybe I could tell you but
the one who I don’t know is
the you that stands in front of you,
that writes your name, and not much else, that sits in class,
that looks at me as if
we were born into two different tribes
sworn to enmity
sometime in your life
someone told you you were nuffin
maybe they didn’t say it, just assumed it
maybe they said it when they were feeling foul
maybe they even said it when saying
the very opposite but
the way they said it meant
they didn’t quite believe it themself because
they felt themself to be like that
know what I’m sayin?
yes I know you better than you know
I know it from that great great place,
that great great space
that’s the same in you and me
and maybe we’ll get a chance
to talk about this some time
maybe meet accidentally in MacD’s
you’ll be embarrassed by the intimacy of that
as if you’d been captured by the other tribe
and you have to bribe your way out but
maybe we’ll chat and I’ll try
to hint to you about that great great space
which somehow doesn’t get
into the classroom... targets etc
that’s if, I don’t change schools first
or give up teaching, it’s a near thing; maybe
we’ll both be glad of the chat, it
could be the start (but keep it quiet)
of something new for you
you’d better believe it; with your life;
(‘bettuh bleevit’)
so try to attend more often,
know what I’m sayin?

Absolutely Zero
You. you were a friend. you were a friend of mine I let you spend the night
You see how it was my fault. of course it was mine.
Im too hard at work. have you ever heard of anything so absurd ever in your life.
Im sorry for wasting your time.
Who am I to say this situation isnt great? its my job to make the most of it
Of course I didnt know that it would happen to me. not that easy.
Hey whats that you say? youre not blaming me for anything thats great
But I dont break that easy. does it fade away?
So thats why Im apologizing now for telling you I thought that we could make it
I just dont get enough to believe that weve both changed.
Who am I to say this situation isnt great? its my time to make the most of it
How could I ever know that this would happen to me, not that easy, no
All along the fault is up for grabs why dont you have it
Well its for sale go make your offer, Ill sell it for no less than what I bought it for
Pay no more than absolutely zero.
Well neither one of us deserves the blame because opportunities moved us away
And its not an easy thing to learn to play a game thats made for two thats you and me
The rules remain a mystery. see it can be easy.
Who am I to say this situation isnt great? its our time to make the most of it
How could we ever know that this would happen to me, not that easy, no
All along the fault is up for grabs and there you have it
Well its for sale go make your offer, Ill sell it for no less than what I bought it for
Pay no more than absolutely zero.
