We found that the most exciting environments, that treated people very well, are also tough as nails. There is no bureaucratic mumbo-jumbo... excellent companies provide two things simultaneously: tough environments and very supportive environments.

When I got to filmmaking, the most democratic of environments where anybody could say anything, those were the best environments, but what you don't want to assume is that you know what the audience is thinking.

Not Only Accepted But Endorsed
When one is revealed to have an intelligence,
Among others who are more interested...
In displaying an ignorance,
That entertains in delighting...
Acceptable foolishness.
Here can be found in environments like this...
Is a total absence of an accountable responsibility.
With an insistence that persists.
And those who appear,
To have acquired an 'intelligence'...
Are often dismissed as novelties.
In environments,
Where a lack of discipline and laziness...
Is not only accepted,
But endorsed as a reflection...
Of what a mindlessness can enforce to exist.

Take Mental Notes And Deep Breaths
It may be wrong to do,
But in some environments...
One has to play along,
With what goes on.
Not to digest or even accept it.
But in some environments,
To reject nonsense...
Is interpreted as being offensive.
Since this is a standard...
Many have been taught,
Their entire lives to come to value.
Do not ruin an invitation,
To notice all pictures...
Hanging to be displayed,
Up-side-down on a wall.
Make no reference to this at all.
And do not stare,
As if what is viewed is unusual.
Take mental notes and deep breaths.
With a remaining as calm as possible.

Choices
i prefer smooth peanut butter
to crunchy
mind you
crunchy is all right
but i prefer smooth.
i prefer strawberry jam
to raspberry
mind you
raspberry is tasty
but it's got all those seeds
and i prefer strawberry.
i prefer mustard
to mayonaisse
mind you mayonaisse has it's place
amongst condiments
but is likely to go bad
if left out to long
and poison everyone
so on the whole i prefer mustard.
i prefer cooked meat
to raw meat
for much the same reason
as i prefer mustard to mayonaisse
although it also has to do
with the fact that i don't
like my meat to bleat
or moo or make chicken noises (BAGOCK!)
when i eat
so i tend to avoid the raw
though mind you
the meat that i prefer
may at some time have been raw.
i prefer not to say
why i think so
but i do
and i suppose it's all
just a matter of taste
so if you'd prefer to think so
then crunchy is better
than smooth
even if it does interfere
with the texture of the
peanut butter
and jelly (strawberry) sandwich
which ought to be somewhat
devoid of substance
merely a sticky sweet something
to fill your stomach
put mayonaisse on it
if you like
i'd prefer not to think about it.

No Memo From You Did I Receive
What would 'you' prefer?
That I pretend I am not a writer,
With an interest that is expressed.
Or would you prefer I stay within boundaries,
Your mind has restricted to your limitedness?
Or would you prefer,
I reflect more of what you suspect I should be?
And would your suspicions have their development,
Centered from your perceptions?
Either way,
No memo from you did I receive.
And I admit,
Guessing is not what I do best.
And the only tests I 'prefer' to pass,
Are my own.

Who Will Cry For The Little Girl?
Who will cry for the little girl
the little girl that sleeps
Who will cry for the little girl
the little girl that weeps
Who will cry for the little girl
the little girl that will soon be grown
Who will cry for the little
the little girl who can't make it on her own
Who will cry for the little girl
the little girl who sits and stands
Who will cry for the little girl
the little girl who watches life in her hands
Who will cry for the little girl
the little girl that gives
Who will cry for the little girl
the little girl that lives
Who will cry for the little girl
the little girl that sleeps
Who will cry for the little girl
the little girl inside of me
Who will cry for the little girl
the little girl who used to be ME! !

Gone girl
Detention girl,
Suspension girl,
Lives off a pention girl.
Tough girl,
Fighter girl,
Always caught with a lighter girl.
Sad girl,
Lonely girl,
Knows shes not the only girl.
Lying girl,
Crying girl,
Pretend she wasn't dieing girl.
Cold girl,
Gone girl,
Wonders what went wrong girl...

Stole your life
He destroyed your confidence, girl,
He’s the cause of your pain, girl
You got to be stronger than that, girl
Innocent girl you once were.
He stole your innocence, girl,
He took your love, girl
He buried it with others, girl,
Loving girl you once were.
He tore apart your faith, girl.
He turned everyone against you, girl.
He made your parents not trust you, girl.
Worthy girl you once were.
He took your life, girl.
Gave it a new name, girl,
He drew your blood, girl,
Living girl you once were.

I'm kind of a dork. I don't have much game. I'm not particularly comfortable in bars or clubs. I much prefer being home playing Scrabble, having dinner with a couple friends, going to see a movie, or losing a whole weekend to Season 14 of Law and Order or The Simpsons.

I have a girl
I have a girl
~
I have a girl, a good one
a girl who looks after me
a girl with a winning smile
a girl who makes me laugh
a girl who is beautiful
a girl who is kind and strong
I have a girl who ticks boxes
a girl who is something special
a girl who is loving
a girl who has great patience
a girl I'm lucky to know
a girl you'd dream about
I have a girl I'd fight for
a girl who makes me think
a girl who feeds me
a girl I'd write poetry for
I have a girl, a good one
a girl I wouldn't swap for the world

This Spectral Love
That girl, she loves my jazz
Eyes closed, she twirls
Her pearly whites revealing
A momentary content
That madcap girl
Blues and Reds send her to the moon, baby
Greens to the carpet
Digging in her heels
Takes the fix for the kicks
To be comfortable
To feel remarkable
That sweet child
Slinks like a cat
Up my leg
Purring all the while
'Make love to me, ' she smiles dreamily
'Make love before the sun comes up'
That girl, she is
A wounded bird
But she laughs all night long
How she laughs
That girl, my girl
Never wants to leave
This room, these feelings
This spectral love of ours

Sorry Little Girl
SORRY LITTLE GIRL THAT YOU CRY
SORRY LITTLE GIRL THAT HE WENT AWAY
SORRY LITTLE GIRL YOU CARRY SO MUCH PAIN
SORRY LITTLE GIRL IT DIDN'T WORK OUT YOUR WAY
SORRY LITTLE GIRL YOU WILL SEE HIM SOMEDAY
SORRY LITTLE GIRL FOR YOUR TEARS
SORRY LITTLE GIRL I HAVEN'T BEEN THERE
SORRY LITTLE GIRL I LOST MY MIND
SORRY LITTLE GIRL I'M NOT THE ONE YOU CAN LEAN ON
SORRY LITTLE GIRL I CRY TOO
SORRY LITTLE GIRL I CAN'T TAKE BACK THAT DAY
YOU KNOW I WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR YOU
SORRY LITTLE GIRL I COULDN'T WAKE HIM UP, LIKE YOU ASK ME TO
LITTLE GIRL HE LOVES YOU AND YOU KNOW IT'S TRUE
LITTLE GIRL JUST LOOK OVER YOUR SHOULDER HE IS RIGHT BEHIND YOU
LITTLE GIRL PLEASE DON'T CRY ANYMORE
IT MAKES ME SAD TO SEE YOU IN SO MUCH PAIN, I WISH YOU WERE STILL FOUR WHEN A KISS WOULD STILL FIX EVERYTHING

A girl I'd write poetry for.

I Want a Girl
I want a girl
a girl who is there
a girl who can care
a girl that will love
a girl that I'm the world of
a girl with a warming smile
a girl with a unique style
a girl that will soar above
a girl that I'm all she thinks of
a girl who is mine
a girl who can outshine
I want a girl
