There's probably a little greater case for pessimism than optimism. But I do not rule out optimism.
Pessimism, when you get used to it, is just as agreeable as optimism.

The Hands Of A Teacher
Optimism,
Optimism perished from the face of my earth
And then you came along, came along and swept me away,
She kissed me, as we stood on the edge,
The night made the day as we made for the bridge
It started raining hard, and I saw we may live to regret
No I never really understood
No I never really understood why,
Because Ive never been given,
Never been given two tries,
No I never really understood,
Understood why...
Pessimism,
Pessimism perished from the face of my earth,
And then you came along, came along and swept me away,
Did you miss me? did you miss me as we walked
Through the pain, attached the chain so you could
See me again
I started asking myself, did I teach you right?
No I never really understood
No I never really understood why,
Because Ive never been given,
Never been given two tries,
No I never really understood,
Understood why...
Understood why...
You came to me, you broke the bonds,
You set me free
And then the love that you promised me
Came a tumblin tumblin tumblin down
Into my hands...
No I never really understood
No I never really understood why,
Because Ive never been given,
Never been given two tries,
No I never really understood,
Understood why...
So teacher teach me...

If pessimism is despair, optimism is cowardice and stupidity. Is there any need to choose between them?

Optimism and pessimism
Optimism and pessimism are alike.
Both have no control on the outcome.
One lends confidence and the other, caution.
In rise and fall, they make no difference.

The test of all beliefs is their practical effect in life. If it be true that optimism compels the world forward, and pessimism retards it, then it is dangerous to propagate a pessimistic philosophy.

There Is Nothing Wrong With Power
'Tis sad to think that many with power abuse it those with power who abuse it weak not strong
There is nothing wrong with having power in the first place it is the abuse of it that is all wrong
For the abuse of power leads to serious crimes against the powerless though power in good hands it is quite okay
And good people with power never do abuse it they use it in the most constructive way
Some people with power are quite benign people and philanthropic one of them can say
But those who abuse their power to the law may never answer though to karma there's a price they have to pay
The abuse of power leads to dictatorial regimes that leads to serious crimes against humanity
In the despicable crimes against women and children the wrongs of power gone wrong for all to see
The people who abuse their power should never have it though to their power they desperately do cling
Power in the right hands an adavantage to others and power in the wrong hands is a dangerous thing
There is nothing wrong with power from once 'tis used well but some with power they do abuse their rule
And some with power they can become quite nasty and derive pleasure out of being cruel
But power in the right hands can be a blessing and kind people with power their praise we ought sing
Since they have the gift of empathy within them and happiness to others they do bring.

Duffuor
Wrinkled butts,
By the colour of one's skin;
And like the pessimism that eclipse optimism!
But, more diverse was the muse of your love,
For, your mind was dedicated to the new globalisation act.
Duffuor is my name and i am with you,
But, this lotto to paradise is all that you know!
All the same, not all that glitters is gold;
For, the soldiers came in last night and took my lover away.

Give allowance
If everything is going well,
There has to be something
That goes wrong.
If everything is going wrong,
There has to be something
That goes well.
There is no wholesome optimism
Nor wholesome pessimism warrented

We must try to advance the cause of humanity by developing in ourselves, as well as in others, a higher type of manhood and womanhood than the past has known. To aid in the evolution of a new conscience, to inject living streams of moral force into the dry veins of materialistic communities is our aim. We seek to come into touch with the ultimate power in things, the ultimate peace in things, which yet, in any literal sense, we know well that we cannot know. We seek to become morally certain — that is, certain for moral purposes — of what is beyond the reach of demonstration. But our moral optimism must include the darkest facts that pessimism can point to, include them and transcend them.

Powers that hold forever
You had a power over me.
On that day that you hurt me.
You had the power to bring me down.
Its a power thats never gone.
A power thats never losened its grip.
You prayed on my weakness
You knew I was defencless.
But it would appear you didnt care.
You didnt give a shit.
That I was weak and helpless
I couldnt fight back.
God only knows how scared I was.
You had the power to scare me.
You took the power to hurt me.
Power is a strong thing.
Bastards like you love power.
Power nevew losens the grip.
Never lets me be.
Thats cos you scared me so
You scared me with your power
You scared me witless

Power To Bond
Far beyond echoes a name
Reporting its presence in game
About the power of recognition that came
Under the right that a name cant be lame
casting glances in those families beyond
Ascertains a power to bond
Rendering that carpet of unity
Of brotherhood and purity
Leaving away the dirt of tribalism
Intoning the power of optimism
Never again to judge a name
Ending or starting with a letter that is not the same.

There is only one optimist. He has been here since man has been on this earth, and that is man himself. If we hadn't had such a magnificent optimism to carry us through all these things, we wouldn't be here. We have survived it on our optimism.

What is good? All that heightens the feeling of power in man, the will to power, power itself. What is bad? All that is born of weakness. What is happiness? The feeling that power is growing, that resistance is overcome.

Fire In The Twilight
Hot on the run from the grip of the power game,
The man who leads the way, the man who leads the way.
Shell in its box from his home that theyll never tame,
The man who leads the way, the man who leads the way.
Chorus:
He is burning, burning in the twilight.
He is burning, turning to face us.
He is burning, fire in the twilight.
He is burning, turning to lead us away, away, away,
Lead us away, away, away.
Taking a break from the role of the everyday boy,
The man who leads the way, the man who leads the way.
Is he for real or is he back to the old way boy,
Can he lead the way, oh can he lead the way.
Hes searching, but hes lonely, and hes hurting, but hes only,
Waiting for a chance just in time to live a life.
Does he need ya, does he want ya,
Does he listen to what you say?
Is he only waiting for the simple way?
Repeat chorus
