I do eventually want to get back into performing, but right now it's more fun for me to dance for myself.

THE DANCE (AN EPILEPTICS PRAYER) ...by Talile Ali
IN C
C~G/ C~Am/
I NEVER THOUGHT TOO MUCH ABOUT
THE DANCE AND HOW IT'S PLAYED
THRU OUT MY LIFE, SOME WITH MY WIFE
NOTHING WAS EVER WELL MADE
REFRAIN
F-Am-F-G~C
IT'S THE DANCE
IT'S THE DANCE
NO ROMANCE
NOT A CHANCE
THE DANCE DID INTERUPT ME
IN ALL THE THINGS I CHOOSE
BECAUSE AFTER A WHILE, WHY BOTHER
EVENTUALLY I WILL LOSE
REFRAIN
THE TIMES I WOULD HAVE A SPELL
A EVENTUALLY FADE OUT
NEVER KNOWING IF IT'S MY LAST GOOD BYE
OR JUST A TEMPERARY BOUT
REFRAIN
HOW MANY UNDERSTAND HOW
THIS DANCE WITH LIFE IS TRUE
AND TO WHO HAVE TASTED
WE HAVE THIS POINT OF VIEW
REFRAIN
SO DELIGHT IS SO FLEETING
A JOY IS FOUND WITHIN
THE DANCE FOR EVER OUR DOMAIN
AND DEATH ONE OF THE DANCER'S, MY FRIEND

Eventually
I met a man
And talked about you
He seemed like a man from Osaka I knew
And he listened while I told him how you hurt me
And he consoled me when he told me he'd been hurt too
And he said we are inter-dependent
And the effects on each other never ending
And that the air has no boundaries
I think this water that surrounds me
Is the same water soaking through to you
So what comes floating to me
Eventually
Will come floating back to you
What comes floating to me
Eventually
Will come floating back to you
I had some tea
With a gal from Paris
We talked about life, sex, love and poetry
And you can't help it
Your name came up again
And she said man those kind of guys
Really know how to steal all of the oxygen
And I said we are inter-dependent
And the effects on each other never ending
And that the air has no boundaries
I think this water that surrounds me
Is the same water soaking' through to you
So what comes floating to me
Eventually
Will come floating back to you
What comes floating to me
Eventually
Will come floating back to you
I have a friend I confide in
He always says doll you got to learn not to lead with your chin
But you can't help it
It all comes up again
And then you have your fill
And your spill reaches down as far as a flood
So what comes floating to me
Eventually
Will come floating back to you
What comes floating to me
Eventually
Will come floating back to you
Eventually
Eventually
Will come floating back to you
Eventually
Eventually

I learn something not because I have to, but because I really want to. That's the same view I have for performing. I'm performing because I really want to, not because I have to bring bread back home.
I came back to performing with a different attitude about performing and myself. I wasn't expecting perfection any more, just hoping for an occasional inspiration.

Please Come Back To Me
Sittin in the car
One spring break afternoon
Knowin u couldn't be far
And that I'd see you soon
Away from you
Is where I hate to be
But get a clue
And please come back to me
Please come back to me
I miss your crazy mind
I want you to be
Here so you'll find
You'll eventually see
So please come back to me
My life isn't the same
Without you here
I'd rather have you over all the fame
To the ground just dropped my tear
Away from you
Is where I hate to be
If you love me too
Then please come back to me
Please come back to me
I miss your crazy mind
I want you to be
Here so you'll find
You'll eventually see
So please come back to me
By now it's almost dark
As far as I can see
Now walkin alone in a park
So please come back to me
Please come back
Please come back
Please come back
I want you here with me
Please come back
Please come back
Please come back
Oh how lonely it can be
Please come back
Please come back
Please come back
Back here with me
Please come back
Please come back
Please come back
Come back and you'll see
So please come back to
Please come back to
Please come back to
Please come back to me
Please come back to
Please come back to
Please come back to
Please come back to me

I was performing in this burlesque group, and we would go to dance rehearsals every day. You'd use every part of your body. Even though some of it is slow, it takes a lot of muscle to be able to dip down and come back up.

Dance!
dance!
in the light of the dawn.
dance!
as if there were none.
dance!
to the call and the cry.
dance!
today you live, tomorrow
you die....
dance!
without holding back.
dance!
the color between white
and black...
dance!
for the gift of the pain.
dance!
in the sunlight, in the rain.
dance!
let two become one!
dance!
till all is said, and
all is done...
dance!
let your life be a prayer.
dance!
because you can, because
you care....

Dance, Dance
Dance through life
Dance through time
Dance around the felings
You don't want to be mine
You are dancing through a world
You don't want to see
You are beating to a rhythm
That doesn't lift you free
From this headbang
You are performing
Slow down your pace
Recollect your mind
Stop all the things
You never wanted to find
Make peace with your song
Go ahead and dance away life
Find your true inside
And make peace with your strife
Dance around those feelings
Dance around the world
Dnace straight to your heart
And what you want to make yours.

Dance Dance Dance
After six hours of school I've had enough for the day
I hit the radio dial and turn it up all the way
I gotta dance (dance dance dance now the beat's really hot) right on the spot
(Dance dance dance right there on the spot)
The beat's really hot
(Dance dance dance now the beat's really hot)
Dance (dance) dance (dance) dance (dance) yeah!
When I feel put down I try to shake it off quick
With my guy by my side the radio does the trick
I wanna dance (dance dance dance now the beat's really hot) right on the spot
(Dance dance dance right there on the spot)
The beat's really hot
(Dance dance dance now the beat's really hot)
Dance (dance) dance (dance) dance (dance) yeah!
At a weekend dance we like to show up late
I play it cool when it's slow and jump it when it's fast
I gotta dance (dance dance dance now the beat's really hot) right on the spot
(Dance dance dance right there on the spot)
The beat's really hot
(Dance dance dance now the beat's really hot)
Dance (dance) dance (dance) dance (dance) yeah!
(Dance dance dance now the beat's really hot)
(Dance dance dance right there on the spot)

Transmission
Radio, live transmission.
Radio, live transmission.
Listen to the silence, let it ring on.
Eyes, dark grey lenses frightened of the sun.
We would have a fine time living in the night,
Left to blind destruction,
Waiting for our sight.
And we would go on as though nothing was wrong.
And hide from these days we remained all alone.
Staying in the same place, just staying out the time.
Touching from a distance,
Further all the time.
Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance to the radio.
Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance to the radio.
Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance to the radio.
Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance to the radio.
Well I could call out when the going gets tough.
The things that we've learnt are no longer enough.
of the show
And we could dance.
Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance to the radio.
Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance to the radio.
Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance to the radio.
Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance to the radio.

Pow Wow
Christopher columbus discovered america
Found he had a cornucopia
Gave love to the indians, they gave it back
A pow wow in the teepee is where its at
I want to dance with you
I want to dance with you
I want to dance with you
I want to dance with you
The indian fought with his arrow and bow
Till general custer lost to sitting bull
Scalped all day and scalped all night
Give me fire water, gonna buy me a wife
I want to dance with you
I want to dance with you
I want to dance with you
I want to dance with you
When your people first moved to our block
Our ancestors met with culture shock
Two different monkeys from two different trees
Come on lets stop our fightin and come dance with me
Come on dance with me
Come on and dance with me
cause I really wanna dance with you
I want to dance with you
Come on and dance with me

Leaves Of November
How you glide over the matted, frostbitten grass
Performing the last dance
A ritual before death
An unseen choreographer guiding your every movement
The wind, your lover, picking you up
Tossing you around in the air
Whirling you about as if on some great dance floor
Sometimes you dance in groups
Thousands of you in constant motion
Moving to your lover's music in no particular direction
Other times you dance alone, gliding through the air
Touching down here and there
Waiting, hoping for your lover's touch
The costumes are beautiful shades of gold and red
Autumn's finest
With only an occasional brown
The shade of impending death
Soon you will be lifeless
Forgotten by your lover
A thing of the past, to dance no more

Dance, Dance
Dance, Dance
To the music
Dance, Dance
To the beat
Dance, Dance
To the rhythm
Stomp your feet
Dance, Dance
Even though
Your tune they don't hear
Dance, Dance
For yourself
Have no fear
Dance, Dance
If you're alive
You're doing well
Dance, Dance
And grin
So the world can tell
You know you've got
A life to live
You're looking at the joy
This world can give
And you're dancing and laughing,
Won't be dragged down
You'd rather keep moving
Than stay with a frown
Dance, Dance
'Til it's played to the end
Dance, Dance
With a smile
My truly brave friend

Dance dance dance
Dance in the moon light with,
All the stars in sight
Dance to the smiles
Dance in the shadows my love
Dance dance dance.
You may think I'm crazy
I'd dance in the moonlight
I'll dance when I want to
Please let me dance
Dance dance dance
Dancer take my hand to your,
Hand
I need to dance
Close your blue eyes,
Hold me in your arms and,
Dance dance dance.

Performing, for me, is like oxygen. Performing, for me, is like the only thing that is a constant in my life, because you’re in all different places doing all different things, but when I get up on stage, that’s where I know exactly what to do, that’s where I own it.
